[Q] No cell tower location - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I'm currently using the AOSP 2.2 Beta 4 ROM on my X10 and for whatever reason, I cannot get my location unless I have a GPS signal.
I have searched for this issue but no-one else seems to have it! Location & privacy settings are correct and no joy.
I would post this in the Developers thread but it's my first post and I'm not allowed to!
Some help here would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Help with location settings

Can someone please help with this problem I am having. I am now using modaco 3.1 and was previously using 2.9. I remember when I first installed 2.9 that my clock and weather widgit (snowstorm) would update themselves with my location as I moved around the country. As I did not have the GPS enabled it was getting its location from the cell towers. It stopped updating several weeks ago and updating to Modaco 3.1 hasnt solved the problem. The other thing I notice is that Wavesecure always tracks my location wrongly - about 1/2 mile South of my true location.
All ideas greatly appreciated.

[Q] wifi quick setting

Hey guys, im new at XDA (btw i love it) and i was wondering if someone can help me out. On certain ROMs, like Das Bamf rc4.9 there is a check box next to the wifi option under quick settings. But on my current ROM, Gingeritis 3D Beta 6, there is no check box, but a red exclamation point hovers over the wifi symbol. I know it is not a big deal, but little thing like that piss me off lol. I can still access wifi settings from quick settings, i was just wondering if a fellow XDA member might have an explanation for this or how to fix this minor issue. I will post a picture of this in a minute. Thanks in advance!
i do not have enough post to post an outside file, cant post the picture:/
just going to post on here a couple of times so i can post the pic... sorry for any annoyance
Anyone have any ideas?

Check Wifi Settings under Settings->Wireless&Networks. It will probably indicate that an error occurred at the top. A lot of times this is caused by the incorrect wifi kernel module. Try flashing another kernel known to work with the rom you are running.

Anybody having GPS issues with SHOstock 1.7

I am a newbee, and this forum has been very helpful in explaining how to root and install custom roms.
I installed SHOstock1.7 and having trouble with GPS. Anyone else noticed this issue.
Cant post this to development forum, coz of development forum rules.
You shouldn't post this as a standalone thread but you SHOULD post this in his ROM thread.
I used my phone as my GPS running that ROM all the way from AL to VA. That was Dec 21 & back on the 28th. Not sure what version of SHOstock I was using at the time but it worked just fine then. I'm still on it now but updated to 1.8.
Just tested again, no problems. What is your issue?

Difficult to post in a thread you don't have permissions to. You HAVE to have 10 or so posts in order to reply in development forums which OP states.
Relating to the thread,
I've not had any issues with my GPS with SHOstock. I recommend downloading "GPS Status & Toolbox" and clearing your GPS data then giving it a try.

@tewan, a few quick questions about how to use the "GPS Status & Toolbox".
1. On the SGS2, do we need to turn on GPS?
2. On the SGS2, do we need to turn on AT&T mobile network?
Thanks

Not quite sure I understand fully. Unless you're planning to use wifi positioning, you'll need to turn on the GPS. You're able to leave your AT&T connection disabled but you'll need to synchronize the time some how. (That's why the Galaxy note GPS doesn't work without a wifi connection.)
If you're wondering if you need the AT&T connection and GPS on whenever you reset and download your A-GPS data, you shouldn't.

SVD voice and data at same time not working

Hi, posting here to broaden the net a little. I have carbon ROM that i am fairly sure allowed simultaneous voice and data. I.e when making a call on Bluetooth in the car, data for Google maps stayed active. Now that doesn't work but I am sure this worked since the froyo days. I'm trying to pinpoint the cause.
I have sgs2 and tried three different radios with and without ril, nelp3, nelp4, and nels1, but no change to behaviour . But My wife's sgs3 is on vodafone uk and also drops data connection when making phone calls. (Seen by H/3g logo disappearing and being unable to use data when making calls).
We think it's recent but unsure if it's the ROM or something else.
Would appreciate if someone on another rom on a Samsung phone or two can check for me before I restore a backup to check myself.
Also any ideas how to debug?
Thank you
Chris
P.s already tried different and included kernels on both phones.

I am hoping to find the answer to this is Carbon related (CM10.1 vs 10.2 branches maybe?) and not specific to devices. Could you post this thread on the Dev page for that ROM? That way the Devs for the ROM know about it... and may be able to find the solution. Fingers crossed!

[Q] GPS issues

Hey guys, ever since flashing a custom ROM onto my Verizon GS4, I've had issue with getting my phone's location. Given the location options on 4.4.3, the phone is able to get a rough location on the High Accuracy setting but can't do anything under Device Alone. As such, I'm pretty sure it's the GPS having issues. Others have had compass problems with the ROM I'm currently on, but everyone seems to be able to get a GPS lock when I can't. I've done a dirty flash, a clean flash, and even redownloaded the .zips from other locations in case the file was bad, but nothing has solved my problem. I use my phone's location settings for a variety of apps, so I'd really like to get it working again. Does anyone know of diagnostics I could perform? My hope is that it's just a software issue, and that I didn't do any permanent damage to the hardware. Thanks for the help!
(also, I'm posting here because I'm new to the forum and can't post in the developer threads yet)
Try faster fix in the play store. I've used it with several roms on several phones and it is very good

I looked up the fix you're talking about. Others seem to have had success through the gps status apps available on the playstore. Unfortunately, they didn't have any effect on my phone. I'm still stuck at searching for GPS on any app that uses it. Those who had success seem to have had it with a ROM that originally worked, but lost the ability to successfully connect. My issue seems to be in the ROM itself, or at least that's what makes sense to me. Thanks for the advice and trying to help.

I have tried faster GPS (running 4.4.4, so faster fix is a no-no) with no success. It replaces the file detailing GPS information and the like, but I'm still stuck searching for GPS permanently.
