I'll be up bright and early on Sunday if Best Buy does decide to take pre-orders.
Not that this is confirmation but I just got off the phone with a Verizon rep. She couldn't find anything to verify the 14th as the release date but said she "believes" that will be the date. Take it for what it's worth.

While I was at best buy earlier the Rep said Valentine's day is still the date they're set on. Also said as far as they know 4g wont cost more for now. All things we know but reassuring to hear it again.

I'm totally with you on this. At the time I made this post I swear I was at the point where I thought this date was at least 90% accurate. Now Best Buy IS taking pre-orders as of this morning but won't give me a date or a price? I dunno, sketchy and I don't just hand out money and not know anything about what I get in return, lots of other dates flying around too. I think there will be a Super Bowl commercial I certainly hope so, if not Verizon is shooting itself in the foot here.

All you are doing is holding a place in line. They give you a $50 gift card for you deposit. You can blow them off if need be and you'll have $50 at BB. What's the problem?

Problem is they don't do 1yr contracts which is a HUGE deal for me at least, big difference between geeting an upgrade in 10 months vs 20.

They are offering their buyback program on this phone for free (everything is for the first week). The basis for the price of the phone is RETAIL. This phone minimum will be $599. At the 10 month mark they will buy back your phone for $240. I think that will compare with a one year plan rather well.

That's not as good as it sounds, I can sell a 1 year old TBolt for 300 on craigslist. Let's do the math a 599.99 phone (regularly priced at 199.99 on contract) will get you a buy back of 240. The retail price of most phones is 599.99 thats 600-240=360. I'd be paying 360 for my next phone!
My next upgrade would cost me almost 1 and a half times more than if I just signed a 1yr contract and paid 70 extra dollars up front. Not to mention Verizon bends backwards when you approach your out of date contract. They've called me a few times about certain "offers" since I'm almost out of contract to get me to renew. On top of all this after I get the upgrade I can still get the 300 extra dollars by selling the phone on craigslist myself making my next upgrade 100% free + profit. I don't sign 2yr contracts it's not worth it in this industry.
This was just tweeted by @Verizonwireless (the official VZW Twitter): "HTC Thunderbolt: no updates to report. We'll share what's real, when it's real, directly. Here."
Looks like we're left in the dark a while longer. Sounds like it's not decided yet, or the release date is too far off for them to announce. Looks like... we should probably be thinking later rather than sooner. Bummer.

Its got to be the 14th. Verizon wouldn't let the biggest electronics retailer in the U.S. to be telling thousands of people a false release date. As someone said earlier, the only reason best buy is saying the 14th is because Verizon told them!

I was checking the sprint community forum and seen something that makes sense:
"i work for sprint and they have extended the date of no mail in rebates 3 times already. now it doesnt end until 6/4/2011. and what i have seen is that each date that they extend the instant rebates the day after is the date of a new phone. originally the instant savings was to end on april 16th the day before the echo is released, then it was extended to may 7th the day before the nexus is to come out. now it is extended to june 6th and im hoping they announce the release of the htc evo 3d for june 7th. plus the evo was released in june so i think the 3d will follow suit for sure. It should be a one of a kind phone for sure."
I was also talking to a sprint rep who told me that the number transfer rebate expires 06/23 (what I mean by this is the sprint 'credits' as they call it) in which he said that most likely the EVO 3D would come out after that date.(He made sure to explain to me he didn't exactly know the date and just described a pattern). I also notice the mistake on dates in the quote above it should be 06/04, more info can be found at http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/283940#283940.
So two possible dates, I assume it will be earlier in June. (June 5th)
I was going to pre order it, but with no price point set for without contract purchase and I don't think it would to wise to do that. Would hate to pre order a phone with $50 and it ends up costing $700 full retail, and I'm not paying that. Would have been nice to have a price to go by.

I am sure you can wait until the price is released before pre-ordering. The pre-orders right now are not even being advertised yet so I would think you will still be good once a price is released.
Sprint Rep told me it would most likely cost as much as the EVO 4G, which was $199.99. Based upon all phone carriers, I would say it would not go above $299.99. Also Best Buy Pre-order is not through sprint I was told because Sprint is not doing Pre-Orders. I have to order mine through a rep to get my discounts so I have to wait anyways.

They give you a $50 gift card as "proof" of the pre-order more or less. Could just use the $50 gift card on something else. If you change your mind, they don't expect you to use it exclusively on the phone.
For instance, I could go use mine right now on an XBOX game right now and still be on the pre-order list. And I could also just NOT pick up the phone.
The 3D blockbuster app goes live on June 2nd, so the Evo 3D probably wont launch much after that.
I'm betting on June 3rd, simply because its the first friday of June as was June 4th last year. Plus, June 3rd is better than the 5th or 23rd...

Pre orders at best buy are refundable, they just give you a $50 gift card that you can return or use if you decide to not go through with the purchase. $700 full retail sounds about right though, I'd personally buy it at that price point.

Speak for yourself, I'm hoping for a June 23rd release as that is my upgrade date. I've preordered so if the phone drops before that date I'll have to convice sprint to move up my date, convice best buy to hold my preorder, or pay full retail.

so couldn't you just wait till the 23rd to get the phone??? Why couldn't the evo3d come out the 3rd and you can't wait to upgrade 20 more days
Haha, I'd like to get it today so the sooner the better for me. Also if its after the 23rd then that would suck for people like me who get a $175 discount off the phone from transferring my number and my work discount. So if the phone costs $199.99 like the EVO 4G did then it will only cost me $25. Also as soon as I heard about the EVO 3D my Fuze has been going slower, freezing more and just being a pain in the @ss. It's not worth it to flash an update and try to clean it up, just going to deal with it until the EVO comes out so the day I get it, it will be even nicer. (Cleared some info as it forced me to)
The $175 discount is actually $125 for transferring the number from a different carrier, and $50 from work to clarify for people that are also transferring and be sure to tell the rep that as they may not as or try to find discounts your entitled to. Best Buy didn't ask anything but do your research and tell them where you work to see if you get a discount such as state employee (usually 15%, included teachers, police, etc. (again look this up this is on memory of 2 years ago and I'm not sure what all carriers do on monthly discounts). Remember, Google is your friend on finding you discounts so be sure to use it. (Example: See promo code from a site that your buying something such as advanced auto parts, if you don't Google and active Promo code to save money then your a retard.)

You have to be employed by certain companies or be a member of certain groups. Every company/group get a different discount.
Ex. The company I work for can get 7% off AT&T but can get 23% off with Sprint. I use the discount through my wife's company, and we get 25% with Sprint.
Lots of different ways.....you are probably eligible to get some kind of discount and you don't know it.

I asked this a while back and was told you could get discounts off some plans but no discounts on the simply everything plans - which for me are the only plans that will work based on the large number of minutes I need - and I don't need a family plan.

But I have silly worries because im anticipating this phone so much.

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Wirefly
They have a pretty good reseller rating over the last 6 months, but it looks like their customer service is crap.
I had a problem getting my HTC Hero from them (although it was back in '09?). I called, answered all information (literally took like 2 hours), and the sales rep continued to try to sell me accessories even though I had said no countless times. Then, the next day, they tell me to email them my SSN for security because Sprint rejected the upgrade or something. I cancelled and ordered straight from Sprint.

I ordered my wife's Epic from them for $149.99 ($100 less then the Sprint stores launch price) and was very happy with the customer service and fast delivery time. Although as someone above stated they did try to push accessories and insurance on me, no big deal, I just turned them down.
I ordered my EVO 3D from them about two weeks ago for $149.99 with no shipping or tax (of which Sprint charges the full retail price of the phone for), so that was a huge savings. I was concerned about shipping times but after a recent call to them I was told it would be shipped on the release date of the 24th, and I should have it in 2 business days.
I will let you know how it went after I get my phone, but right now I feel pretty comfortable buying from Wirefly.
Don't know if anyone saw, but the "HTC Store" is taking pre-orders too.
http://shopamerica.htc.com/cell-phones/productdetail.htm?prId=39065
I just noticed it today. I was hoping to find accessories, but stumbled upon this instead.
So this is what I found out about wirefly. They were great. Great service. But one thing. I was robbed of my shipping fee.
How you say?
I paid 7.99 for 2day buisness. A couple different reps told me the phone should arrive friday.
It will not be here till Monday. Fedex is taking its sweet time.
It makes no since to pay that damn 2buisness day if you know damn well you wont make release.
I mean unless wirefly had it to me on friday. they should have told me it would make no difference with how they ship and saved me the 7.99.
Yes 179 is nice for the phone. But you add 8 bucks and 188. Or 199 and have it friday.
So in my view if you are intrested in which way to go. Just go to sprint. Or a walk in dealer.

Yes, yes it is.
The Rezound is now $199 online at VZW.com. I wonder if they will honor our "worry free" period and give us the difference back?
I upgraded to the GNEX and was told I had to the 15th to return it. I did return for a $35 restocking fee, then go the Rezound. Can I still get $100 credited? What should I say to the CSR, I have a feeling that aren't going to give in easily?
They must have a lot in stock, surplus or b/c of the sales decline in HTC.
EDIT: Just got off the phone with the rep, he credited my acct $100 of my next bill. I don't know if thats because I had until Jan 15th until my "worry free" grace period was up or if they will honor everyone? I would try it though, he didn't give me any problems when I asked for it. He actually said he had no idea there was a price drop.

Nothing exceptional. I just explained I purchased it on Thursday online, and noticed that the price dropped $100 today. I said, "Can I get a credit applied, or do I need to refuse delivery and reorder", but I doubt it's even necessary to say that.
Just ask for the credit. There won't be a problem with timing of a few days.

I just got off the phone with Verizon. I have to wait until I accept the delivery and activate the new phone before they can issue me a credit.
FYI, Verizon offers a 14 day price guarantee (that's what the rep told me on the phone), So if you ordered yours within the last 14 days, call in and get your money!

I actually got my rezound for a penny from amazon.
There must be a new flagship from HTC coming to VZ. I meant wth?
If it matters, I bought my Rezound on December 9th and Verizon credited my account $100 today. I called 611, had to sit on hold for a while, but I'm $100 richer now!
Well I have been salivating over the Note since I heard about it months ago. My only set back was the fact that I had just signed up for AT&T this past November with the Samsung Skyrocket. I tried to put the phone out of my mind but daily I would find myself sifting through YouTube videos. I kept telling myself to just be happy with what I had but, low and behold the phone comes out today and ofcourse I have to have it.
So I call up my local AT&T and ask to comfirm the price off contract was $650 and if they had any in stock. The employee informs me that yes they are in stock, but I will not be able to purchase it off contract. For a second Im lost in dissapointment, then the employee says why would you want to buy it off contract anyway when you can do an early upgrade and just pay $550. Say what! So I hop in my Toyota Matrix and fly ( seriously going about 90 mph) to the store.
I get to the store and let them know I had just called to buy the Note and the manager and an employee start helping me. The employee goes into my account and clearly im not early upgrade eligible, but the manager says its fine Ill just do an overide. So while the manager is doing the overide the employee starts telling about the jawbone speaker that they have been pushing for awhile. It cost $199 so im just listening not be rude, but decline her offer. Then the Manager says how about if I through the Speaker in for free since your already paying $549 for the phone ( ok now we are talking), I happily accept this offer.
I know my story is a bit long but I am always hearing about how terrible AT&T is so I just wanted to send a little positivity there way.
With the case, screen cover, and Tax I ended up paying $649 total. I plan on selling my skyroket for $400 so ill only end up being out $249 dollars. Im going to try out the speaker if I dont like it ill probally sell it for $150 then Ill only be out $100.
Congratz man! :-D
Just something to think about though, a lot of us got the Note before our upgrades were eligible, including me, for $300. There's a thread floating around here somewhere about people who were only like 2 months into their contract and got it for $300.

Well further examination of my receipt I can tell I was offered the Jawbone box because they price of the the Note was discounted to 299, so i guess the Manager was just trying to recup the difference. But I am still happy and I guess I could just go to another store and return the Jawbone because I was charged full price for it on the receipt.

ATT is great?? You just wait!
I'll admit I've had some really good experiences with ATT in-store customer experience.
But over time, they just keep changing the plans and increasing the prices. It's been 8 years since I switched from VZN to ATT so I could have the "freedom" to be one of the first to buy unlocked GSM phones from overseas and not have to wait for phones to be "provisioned" (ala Sprint and VZN).
...but over time, what used to cost me about $250/mo. for 6 phones is now costing me $400/mo with 2GB data limits!
Even when I threaten ATT that I'm leaving, they seem to mysteriously find discounts and savings I qualify for to lower my bill. Can't complain about that too much I guess...
Yeah i think im going to return the Jawbone speaker tommorow and get my 199 back. Im going to a different store to return it course.

Just something to think about though, a lot of us got the Note before our upgrades were eligible, including me, for $300. There's a thread floating around here somewhere about people who were only like 2 months into their contract and got it for $300.

You have 30 days from purchase to match.
I got mine for $59 through Wal-Mart the week prior. Still worth it IMO.
Got mine for 100 bucks quite a while back. I'd say anything less is a massive steal.

I paid $449 for mine. None on Craigslist and I looked for several months.
I did this in January ..Amazon had it for 49.99 for awhile and best buy price matched for me

Ditto. I got mine for $107 total and it came with the LG Stereo Bluetooth. Possible the best deal I've ever gotten on anything.

I contacted Best Buy (888#) and requested the $50 credit. I purchased my LG E970on 3/2/12 for $99 and was in the 15 day Price Match by one day. The rep put me on hold, came back, took down my info and said that I would get a call back letting me know the status of my credit. I was concerned that I would not hear back from BB and he said that I would get a return call within 48 hours. Needless to say, no call back so I called back and was told that BB no longer offers the Price Match on contracted cell phone as of 3/2/12. Great. I went back and read the small print details and yup, it does say that. Argh.
Going to go into store tomorrow and talk to a manager and push for the $50.00 Heck for $50.00 I would have returned the darn thing and bought it again. I can play their game too. I will add that I did not receive a call back as promised.
Did you go to an actual best buy store, or best buy Mobile? I went to the mobile store at my local mall and they price matched and gave me a $50 credit, no questions asked.

I've gotten a price match at bbm before. I think whoever he's having to put up with are just assholes.

got mine for $49 in Feb by calling ATT to price match amazon, they upped my upgrade cycle from May and I got activation fee waved as well. So 3 months early upgrade, no fee and LGOG all for under $50, really good steal.

Interesting, I called AT&T to see about getting an early upgrade (March instead of May). I was told that they could only do 30 days early. My brother had a similar convo with them about a year ago. Seems like it's luck of the draw on who you actually get on the call.

There is a "resolution" department, but you have to insist that you want to be connected to them.

Yep. Every company has one and you can generally get crazy deals by doing so.

I contacted the store that I purchased the phone from and the manager did issue me the $50 credit BUT ONLY because she didn't want an unhappy customer. She made sure to inform me that company police no longer offers price guarantee on cell phone.....yeah yeah yeah......
