Does this guide apply to a vibrant as well?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834267
I am just nervous trying something new to different android phones, seems every device I've modded had a different way of going about things.
I used it on my G2 flawlessly, now I wanna do some modding on my Wife's Vibrant. I've got Voodoo and Axura on it now, may be checking out Bionix here in a few minutes but ya. I'm confusing finding a good rom, I'm used to Cyanogen lol.

[Q] Tired Stock Vibrant

Look, Im tired of this stock Vibrant. With the t mobile froyo update it has made me want to customize even more. I have rooted the phone but that is it. What do I need to do to get the Latest and Greatest, Fastest Rom onto my phone. I am new to this so is it hard to do? I am pretty savvy when it comes to computers so i think I can handle it. Let me know. Rom/lag-fix/Reliable/not disappointed Thanks!
NC here too.
Read my guides if needed. I would flash bionix-v or axura's latest.their both very stable/fast.
Beings that I have updated to "official" froyo through keis, is the process the same as in you walk through because that was referring to eclair. Thanks Also Axura looks sick! Which rom do you prefer?

How long have you had your Vibrant?

I couldnt find another thread like it, so decided to make one, mainly to see if everyone, or just some people have a phone that pretty much takes just about everything you throw at it and then some.
I bought mine brand new out of contract (I wasnt due for a upgrade for a long time) a few days after it was released, and Ive had the same one ever since. Its been through alot, I dont consider myself to be anywhere near a n00b with the phone anymore, but looking back, putting, or attempting to put, some of the things I did on there, flashing God knows what, deleting important things that probably should never be deleted, etc.
I used to have this "try it first, read about it later" thing going on, but once I switched it around, I learned alot. Im still learning alot.
Maybe one day when they start giving me medicine for ADD I can give developing a shot lol.
So have you had to send yours back yet to get a new one? Had it all this time? Just got it recently? From my experience you have to mess up pretty bad to actually brick one of these phones.
I've had mine since sept 2010. I've had to use odin once. Been stuck.in a few a few bootloops. Other then that its been a great phone. My first rom was bionix 1.9 with jacs oc /uv kernel. Its taken everything I've thrown at it.
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
I did return mine because it was hardware locked. The new one was unfortunately locked also. But the ota update to ji6 fixed it for me.

I've had mine since last week because I traded it for my mytouch slide and yesterday I rooted, bricked, and rooted again. My first rom was bionix v and I don't think I can send it in for a replacement ...

My first ROM was Obsidian, then I almost immediatley switched to Onyx. I didnt switch to a custom ROM for a while because for the most part I changed and edited the framework myself. Then I decided to say screw that, lol.
The one thing my phone wont take is a OC kernel. It works for about 2 minutes then decides to freeze up and I usually have to flash the stock kernel back. Ive tried just 1280, up to 1400 and it doesnt want any part of it. Which doesnt matter I guess. I only have about 1GB used of the 20GB available to the phone, so its fast enough.
Also, as far as Odin, Ive only HAD to use it twice, but every once in a while I like to back everything up, Format everything in CWR and go back to JFD, to kind of "start fresh".
I've had mine since late july or early august, can't remember which. But it kept powering off randomly so I did get it replaced in november i believe. I didn't start rooting/flashing until december because i was scared as **** about messing something up. I use to hate the vibrant and all its laggyness/gps issues but the devs have allowed me to have a usable phone again!
I've had mine since early september, I just recently got another one, I was complaining about my data always not connecting and t mobile went ahead and sent me another phone. Turns out I was just being throttled lol. I really have no problem with the vibrant, even before the froyo update when everyone hated their vibrant since they didn't have the update, its never bothered me, especially with all the custom roms everywhere anyway
This is starting to sound like a "vibrants anonymous" support group.. not that i've ever been to AA LOL
Had mine since july 16th. This is still my original one. I've flashed countless .zips. flashed about 10 ROMS. Used ODIN once. Taken it apart a few times to install and adjust the ffc. All of that and it still runs like a champ. Aside from the gps which used to work and now doesn't, I've had minimal problems with my device.

Call Recording works on NEW phone.

So I bricked my Vibrant and just got a new one as a warranty exchange, yay, good for me. I've gone about the whole rooting and flashing to Simply Honey that I ported over from I9000. In doing so I found that call recording works perfectly whereas it did not on my old phone. Others are not having success getting it to work either. My question is are there certain things on our phones, in all the lines of script and programming, that remain even after using Odin or flashing different roms? If so would it be possible to find the differences between the stock KA6 that my new phone came with and the KA6 that came as an update.
I only ask because I am not a developer, merely a guy who swapped a few files around to get a working I9000 rom that I liked and I'm not deeply familiar with all the files in Android like some of you are. Anyone wants to chime in maybe we as a community can figure this out for those that want that feature.
interesting, I ll look at mine as well never looked at that

fascinate vs vibrant rooting

My buddy saw my SC 2.9.2 voodoo Steel blue fascinate last night and is dying to root/theme his. Is there much difference in rooting his vibrant from my fascinate? I looked through the vibrant section and it seems like its very similar, but wanted someone that may have done both let me know what they think. Anything to watch out for?
I have been flashing every SC rom since 2.3 and went to voodoo, but since its not my phone, just want to make sure.
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.
Find superoneclick (just use the search box). That'll root it instantly for you.

Yup super one click and make sure your theme is compatible with the Vibrant/ and rom

[Q] Custom ROM

Hi All,
My wife is finally fed up being stuck on 2.1 and is looking for me to update her phone. I'm pretty familiar with the process on my phone (Droid X), but I know absolutely nothing about rooting and installing ROMs on this phone.
The instructions thread sticky'd here looks pretty self explanatory, but I imagine I might have some questions during it... but there is nothing I can do about that just yet.
A couple of questions.
1) Is there anything I should know that's not in that thread. A link to ODIN would be pretty nice since I have no clue what that is (guessing it's something like RDSLite).
2) What's the current favorite GB ROM? I'm thinking about putting her on something TW based, simply because of the amount of changes that could make it a harder transition for her. I figure I can pop Launcher Pro on and let her use the TW Dialer and other menus she's used to.
3) I know I'm going to sound crazy for contradicting myself above, but what's not working in CM7? I haven't put my X on CM7 because there are some things not working entirely, but I'd consider it depending on what's missing.
4) Since the X's bootloader is still locked, I have no experience flashing radios and kernels. I'm assuming these should be outlined pretty closely in whatever ROM I choose to install.
Any other general advice would be appreciated, I'd like to get this done either tonight or tomorrow.
Kind of on a random note, I thought she was supposed to be on at least 2.2 stock. She's still on 2.1 for some reason, and I could swear I read about a 2.2 update a while ago, which gave me a bit of a surprise when I read 2.1-update1 in the Firmware version.
Thanks for your help!

If you went to settings/about phone/updates? There will be an option to check for system updates. It's been a while since I've looked at that setup, but it's in that general area. I would definitely recommend Vanilla GB for your wife if you're looking for simple but intense performance. I switch between all the MTD GB roms, I love all of em.

Thanks guys.
She's looking for stability more than anything, but I want her to be familiar and not lost.
If she decides she wants TW later, can it be put on later or is it completely ripped? I just don't want to need to flash this multiple times.
I'm leaning towards PowerWash GB now; can't tell if GB is still in dev. Thinking maybe I should just use one of the Froyo ones.
Thoughts?
Check out the "stickies" section in development. There are multiple official restore packages in case you mess up. Look in the "Going from Vanilla GB/etc etc to any other ROM" thread. You can move mountains with that one.

Until powerwashed gingerbread gets a kernal, the pw 1.2 ed05 is faster since it has the otb-fusion 1.6 kernal. Also if your phone can handle the undervolt, the 0808 pbj kernal works nice to. Again everything you need is in the link I posted. Even includes a going back to stock tutorial, with vzw official 2.2.2 ed05 package from pentafive.
Just got it working on CM7. Woooo.
I had her playing with Vanilla and she seems to not like it.
I tried to get her onto PowerWash and it was not very happy. Odin kept crapping out.
Any suggestions as to how I could get a TW ROM on via CWM? Most of them seem to require Odin, and I don't see too many tutorials around (unless I'm missing something). I'd rather make her use vanilla than put her back on Froyo though...
