[Q] xperia not turning on - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey.my xperia x10 battery's was low so to save battery i shut it down.Afterward i put it on charging and it wasn't charging nor turning on..even the led was not working..phone was completely dead..then i plugged the battery in universal charger and it was charging.I let the battery charge for 6-7 hours then put it back on phone it was still not turning on...i also tried to hard reset the phone but it didn't work.Any suggestions??

Reinstall the firmware, but only when your sure the charger charged the battery, otherwise that could brick your X10, when the battery runs out while flashing the device.

How do reinstall firmware?

Sorry to hear about this issue. A bit strange that the battery will charge but only with this 3rd party charger. Have you tried to connect a different micro-USB charger to the phone just to make sure that your Sony Ericsson charger (the one that came with the phone) is not the problem?
Anyway, to fix this you should first try what Flo95 is suggesting.
Download Update Service for this, go to sonyericsson dot com /updateservice.
(I'm new here so I can't post links yet.)
Make sure to charge the battery before you put it back into the phone.
The phone must be powered off during the whole update process so the fact that you can't turn it on right now does hopefully not mean that you cannot update/reinstall the software.
If this won't help or if this can't be performed, you should ask your dealer to send the phone to a repair center since the problem might be hardware related.
Hope this helps!

Hi there SE employee! Welcome to our community. Now can you please give us the unlocked bootloader? It's totally enough to just upload it somewhere like mediafire or rapidshare. Thanks in anticipation

Barking up the wrong tree qwer23.
Markus is in the "Answers" section. Where strangely enough...They answer questions about hardware issues and SE updating. Not modding, tweaking or de-installation to more streamlined Android versions.
Anyway...
Hi Markus.
Nice to see you have left facebook for a few minutes. lol

@qwer23,
Bootloader? Hmm.. don't know what you're talking about Obviously, I'm sure you know our stance on bootloaders, 2.2+ and rooting. I'm just here to try and help out with those tricky troubleshooting questions for now.
@Kiefels,
Thanks! I try to be everywhere!

HELP Bricked x10 and computer can't read it

Hi guys,
I recently bricked my X10a and have been having problems trying to connect it to my pc. I can get it into flash mode and connect it to my pc but when its plugged into my computer, FlashTool can't detect it and my computer can't either. Is there anyway I can check? if I have the proper drives? Also if I don't have it is there a way to download it? Thx in advanced.
Btw I'm using my freinds HTC G2 USB cable to connect it to my pc. Could this be effecting it? Do I need the official sony ericsson USB EP700? Thx for this as well.
Running windows vista home basic 32-bit
do you have seus the sony ericsson program on your computer?
I believe that will help you get the proper drivers when you install it.
its on the sony ericsson website under downloads.

Use SEUS i have the same and it helped me
I tried using seus but it won't read my phone at all. Unless I have a broken USB port on my phone It can charge but not connect to my computer.
Are you using a USB hub?
It's straight into my computer. Idk whats going on :\
Do you have a firewall or something similar installed? It might interfere with the connection if you have the firewall settings set to very high. Might need to specifically set permissions for it to have seus and the drivers run...
After doing some research I'm almost certain it is the cable. This cable is the official one from HTC and on further reading it says only compatible with HTC phones. But thank's for the help guys. I'm gonna but a new SE USB cable and hope it turns out good. I'll be back if anything goes amiss.
Come on... Tired to read "I bricked my x10" when you have 1% to really brick it, is this so hard to use correct words ??????????
Bricking is non-sense in x10, even with custom kernels... PSP CAN be bricked, a "real" brick, not x10.
It looks many people is new to this, there's no problem but it's very boring to read sensefull words for everything... These people definitely didn't live the period bricking was meaning something.

Bricking in the x10 world is the bootloop. When our bootloader gets cracked the meaning of it will change.

I agree, but bootloop is no way a brick.
Misunderstanding dogs and cats is pretty weird
Hopefully with loader hack we will give indeed a much more realistic meaning to what bricking is
I also learned that the hard way i guess.

No, you just need a plain USB cable. I have both the X10 and the HTC HD2 and I use the same USB cables between the two. No issues.
Hey! its hard to brick an X10.. maybe you have a lower battery problem. try to charge it fully with an a universal charger or another X10. and use another desktop,USB port. the cable must be an a micro USB only. its doesen matter if the cable comes from an HTC, Nokia or other device, it shoud work Remember the drivers.. hope it helps! You should return your X10 to a Sony Repair Center.

Dead phone

Okay, so yesterday I tried to send my wife an SMS and upon turning the screen on my phone froze. Because I was using the latest CM7 rom, I was just expecting the phone to reboot however, it did not. I just froze on the home screen, wouldn't screen-off, wouldn't power down when holding the power button. Nothingness. I eventually just removed the battery and waited until I got home to try and repair it.
Firstly, I tried using Flashtool to install the latest SE firmware, the phone wouldn't go into flash mode nor would the PC detect it's connection. I tried replacing the battery with a spare I had lying around, still no signs of life. I left it sitting for a couple of hours, without the battery in it, and when I tried again later in the day the phone would vibrate when the power button was pressed, but nothing else.
After a few more attempts the computer eventually recognized that the phone was connected and the phone allowed me to enter flash more. Unfortunately, both Flashtool and SEUS returned errors and wouldn't allow me to reinstall the firmware. I found a forum which directed me to WotanServer Client, which miraculously fixed the issue. I was able to reinstall the SE firmware and recharge the battery. Everything seemed to be working fine.
Sadly, it happened again. Last night, while out with the family, the phone froze on the homescreen and hasn't shown any signs of recovery in the last 12 hours.
Has anyone else had a similar issue and managed to restore their phone? If so, how? I do like my X10 and would love to have it back.
Your phone probably has a motherboard issue. I had to trade my x10 in for a very similar story but different. The x10 in my opinion has a terrible motherboard build in quality. BOTH my x10s had overheating doing nothing in my pocket. So I bought an atrix 4G. Still have my last x10 working so I can still test ROMS. But the overheating was annoying to me. I suggest reparing it unless a new highpowered power phone is cheaper.
Sent from my Atrix 4G with XDA Premium App
The phone did seem somewhat warmer than usual now that I think of it. I have a rather thick 'gel' case for it so I don't normally notice it's temperature when sitting in my pocket, but I could feel a warmth from the battery when I took it out send a message the first time it died.
The phone itself has just past it's warranty, typical isn't it? I'll try taking it into a 3mobile dealer today and see what they have to say before looking at forking out the money for a new phone.
It's funny because SE denies that this happens.
And many people have trolled me on this same subject.
But more and more there have been reports of the x10 completely melting down due to some horrid flaw.

had the same issue, mine wouldnt even turn on, so i sent it in with CM7, and i got a new one because it was sooo effed up!
I bought a second hand one and it. Happened to me after 10 mins took it into cfw they told me even though I bought it second hand they would send it for repair after 2weeks se couldn't fix it and sent me a brand new one take it into them regardless where you got it from as the phone warranty is actually 2 years and not 1 as most ppl think they can scan the barcode underneath the battery to see the date of manufacturing of your phone you never no you might get the same the newer x10 is more stable and because they can't boot it can't see its rooted using cm7

Upon re-reading, you didn't say that he was trolling. I apologize. I misunderstood your comment about others trolling you about this subject.
However, I don't think trolling is the correct term for people disagreeing with you, if that is what you meant. Don't take people having different opinions so personally.
Btw, my X10a just started heating up when using navigation and plugged into car charger with WB CM6 rom. Never happened on modified stock firmware.

It's due to shifting signal levels.
As you traveled you may have passed thru area's with low signal.
I have the same issue even when using stock.
WB has been the only rom that has not made it so severe.
My house is also unfortunately located in a low signal area.
But my other phone seems to be happy.
I got exactly the same problem! only vibrates and no Sony E logo, errors whith SEUS and PC Comp... i´ll try WotanServer Client, but after dieing could you fix it or is still dead? thanks in advance
WotanServer Client-> Error: File header write failed what this means? and i choose x10 but i don´t remember firmware...
I have an X10 that did the exact same thing, its still dead I'll send it off to the repair place soon. The device was bought off eBay within the last six months, I was a little surprised that died so quickly as my main one has been around since the 1.6 days when i first debranded it. Since then its had all of the Zdzihu and FXP roms on it with no issue. The dead (newer) X10 only survived a couple of recent FXP builds.. flashed in the exact same way on the same pc. Some of them are just weak i think. A mate of mine also has an X10 that never liked Doomkernel OC/FS but worked fine otherwise

i777 not turning on, please help

Hi people, I have a i777 but the phone does not turn on at all, what happens is that it will turn the screen on when you plug it in, show the battery image for less then a second and do that 2-3 times before it just stays blank. computer doesnt recognize it or do anything when pluged to it.
Left it plugged in to charge and the phone got very hot. I have not attempted anything with the phone its not even rooted, just stopped working.
Please if any one has any tips or anything that can assist I would really appreciate it.
When did you buy it?
Did you try a battery pull, wait a bit, then put it back and connect the charger without turning it on.

Hey guys sry for reviving this thread its just ive been reading and its driving me kinda crazy. ( i miss my Palm !!!)
So i figured out somethings about the phone, It does go into bootloader mode only if i take out the battery and plug it in, with battery it does nothing at all.
Theres so much info about roms and all this other things i cant quite figure exactly what i need to do with the phone. I'm trying to find a stock rom, but like i said i don't know if its the room, bootloader, kernal or what the hell it needs to fix it.
Please anytips or questions or leads that can guide me.
Model is SGH I777
(Also can't really return it or do anything with at&t since I'm in Colombia, plus att just sucks)

It would be helpful if you could give some details of the problem that you have. We can't just assume that you have the exact same issue that the original poster described in the first post. Please describe your problem in detail. The phone will/won't turn on. The screen is/isn't completely dead. etc.
A little background would also be helpful. How long have you had the phone? Was it working before? Where did you get it? etc.
Need enough information to begin trouble shooting the problem. Will be happy to help if I can.
I had exactly the same problem with my SII. I bought an external charger for the battery, recharged the battery using that and worked fine afterwards (the charger I bought came with a couple of spares which was a bonus as well ;-).
My guess is the battery is empty, leave it on the charger for a bit and try again

Hey there,
I had a similar problem with my battery, it turns out that the charger I was using essentially fried my battery.
Go to an AT&T store (which stock i777 batteries and USB chargers) and explain your problem to them. If this just happened without installing any ROMs or rooting, there's no reason to flash anything, and it's likely a hardware problem. Explain the problem and they will let you borrow a new battery and charging cable to see if it makes a difference.
Otherwise, if this happened out of the blue like that, without any interventions or changes on your part, you should take the advice of the other posters and make use of your warranty.

*story is i sold the phone to someone and i brought it back since it was not turning on*
Ive had time now to research a bit on android and this phone.
I think its hard bricked the phone does not go to download mode when you press the keys even with a full battery *charged it in anoher phone*
I can get it into download mode only when he battery is taken out of the phone... Once its in download mode i tried to flash the stock rom with Odin and stock kernel, but when its done flashing the phone tries to restart but nothing happens the screens turns on and off and the bottom keys flash in and out.
Ive read that you can use a Jtag or w/e you call it *the micro usb with the resistors in i* but since im in Colombia its hard to find those type of electronics off he shelf*
Anyway if any one has any thoughts or ideas to fixing it with out the battery in it while its in download mode i would really appriciate it ^_^

Im just asking since you didnt mention it... Did you press the power button for at least 3 seconds? My Grandfather did this. Took back his phone only to discover that he had not pushed the power button long enough to turn it on. Sometimes you never know...
I had this same problem. Discovered it was just a dead battery. Battery in, I get nothing. Battery out and I can see the buttons flash when connected to a power source. So obviously its the battery.
edit: Since I still have the dead battery thought I would test out the download mode. Got it to boot into download mode without the battery, then started to put in the battery. As soon as the contacts touched, my phone turned off. No idea what happened to this battery..

Not sure what you used to flash back to stock, but if you didn't try it already, I would try the full stock package with bootloaders, param.lfs and all. Go to the Download Repository and flash the I777UCKH7-CL503881 Stock Binaries. The one-click downloader would be fine.
As far as the battery goes, even though you charged it in another phone, it may still be faulty. To test, use a known good battery from another phone.
Oh, and one other thing. Just curious, was the phone working normally when you sold it?

Yeah but kinda had a deal so not loosing much but i still want to fix it.
Let me ask you guys will it be fine to flash without the battery in the phone? Since it does open up the bootloader to and Odin detects it.

Dead Tablet?

Hi there,
I think my z3tc just died.
I flashed the z3c firmware (only system) via flashtools in order to gain root with giefroot.
The tablet started, but the root process failed, and I had to hard reset the tablet (vol-,vol+,on/off), after that the device would not start again.
I tried the yellow reset-knob (beside the sim slot) for 10 secs ... nothing
vol-,vol+,on/off for 10 secs ... nothing
plugged it to the original wall-charger with the original cable ... nothing, not even the led shows up.
Has anybody an idea, or is my device a case for the wastebin?
Thanks in advance!

You flashed the wrong firmware. You could be hard bricked. Basically if you can't get into flash mode and flash the proper firmware then your screwed.
For future reference quadruple check your firmware before you flash the ftf file.
If your rooting SGP621 then you should have flashed the D6603 .93 firmware because that's the one with the exploit.

Thanks for the answer.
I have the SPG611, is it the same firmware to exploit as for the SPG621, namly D6603 .93?

No the xploit shouldn't work because the system is quite different. SPG621 is the LTE version and I think 611 is the Wi-Fi version. The 621 runs on cellphone hardware very similar to the Xperia Z3 where the 611 has no LTE connectivity. It wouldn't be wise to flash a D6603 firmware on it because the hardware it too different.

I just found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...t-rooting-sgp611-giefroot-bootloader-t3017314
So I think it should also work on the WiFi Version (SPG611).
Dead Z3c Tab
Hansifranzi said:
Hi there,
I think my z3tc just died.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me. No LEDs going on - nothing. Device 3 weeks old from Amazon Germany. I sent it in for repair, got it back today with a notice that because I had the bootloader unlocked the warranty is void and they didn´t do anything with it. BUT: When I got it back it was alive again, I could get it into fastboot mode. So I called the technician to ask how they had reset the hardware. They said they hadn´t done anything. I remember having read about a guy who had the same problem, when he packed the tablet to send it in after a couple of days he noticed it would turn on again.
So here is what I think: If you flashed the wrong boot.img or whatever and the Z3c Tab goes completely dead (no charging, no LEDs, no nothing) just wait a couple of days. May be some capacitator has to run flat or I don´t know what but just wait.
Pleas let us know if this works for you, might help other people here and I sure wonder if just letting it sit there can help when everything seems to be f*** up
Thanks for sharing your experience. I also read the post from the guy, who wanted to return it and discovered that it turned back to life.
How many days did it take from returning it to amazon to receiving it back?
Did you connect it to the computer with vol-, and the blue led came back?
It has been three days now, but connecting it to the computer or to the wall-charger didn't change a thing.
Took about 3 days to get it back. May be we have to let the battery discharge?
When I got it back (volume down + USB plugin) was working again, when I sent it in didn't do a thing, no LED. Once you have it back to fastboot mode it's really a piece of cake.

Basically the trick here is to let the battery go dead OR disconnect the battery and reconnect it again but I suppose that would be a hastle.
Also, plugging again and again would charge the device especially if you are trying to discharge the battery fully.
If you are certain that all drivers are fully installed and it does not show any sign at all. I would suggest that hold down power + volume up/down depending on which mode you want to boot. The trick here is KEEP HOLDING POWER AND VOLUME KEY while at the same time plugging in the device to your PC. I am sure the LED would blink or something (I do not have the device but all Sony work this way)
I had a similar incident with a Sony Phone, just like your tablet symptoms but this trick worked for me.
Try that and report back to me, I would like to see what happens and if you need any help, do no hesitate to quote me back!
Good Luck and make sure you flash the RIGHT FTF this time

Thanks for the answer!
I just plugged the tablet into the usb-port of my laptop while holding VOL- and POWER, the led showed no signs, same as computer, also no signs. I will try again on Monday, the battery is surely dead until then. Hope dies last.
That guy must have been me Had the exact same story happening with a Galaxy Tab S. Looked like hard bricked, back to Media Markt with it, no, no, we won't lift a finger you evil tinkerer - and then it suddenly worked again. I had realized they must have done something. Because how would the see that my device's software had been tampered with if they didn't turn it on?!
Anyway, I tried that convoluted rooting method on my brand spanking new Z3Tc (is that the official abbrev.?) However, managed to get into flash mode somehow. It's embarassing for somebody like me but I'm on unrooted stock now... after about 20 Android devices, none of which wasn't rooted or an alternative ROM all the way
Good luck on reviving your tablet!

Led or any othehr signs are useless as long as the device is detected. Had it ?
Try power + volume up as well while flashtool running. It'd give you a better idea of detection. Even try power + both volume up and down.
Also plug in to Sony Official tool and see if that can help you repair it ? It might detect it as well.

When my Tab was dead none of the above worked, also "lsusb" in linux showed that it was not detected.
Concerning the question of what the technicians at MediaMarkt or support.com might have done: I know they used the "emma" software from the sony developer homepage to read out my z3c Tab. That apparently gave them the readout that the bootloader was unlocked. They sent me the screenshot together with the notice that they did not repair anything. So may be download "emma" for Windoze and hook it up to that... I use Linux with FlashTool which is supposed to be the same software (?). However, when my Tab was dead, FlashTool just said no device connected.
BTW: This is also the first (of many) Android devices that I now use UNROOTED. All others were rooted. It was also DEFINITELY the last-ever Sony device I ever bought. The hardware is nice, I need it waterproof because I use it on my motorbike. But this stupid rooting procedure is so screwed up that I will never ever buy Sony Android again!
I was really up and going for Sony, checking the internet on when the new z4 phone comes out, but my z3c tab user "experience" has now taught me better: Never again Sony!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all the responses.
Using Windows 8.1 I tried:
USB-Plugging with all combinations of Power, Vol+, Vol- running
PC Companion
Emma
Flashtool
No Reaction at all.
Maybe the battery is still not empty.
Hope dies last.

I will look into rooting Z3 compact without pre-rooted firmware / flashing any zip via recovery. There are few methods and Lollipop is a bit hard to crack but we would find it out soon enough! I will put up a guide in few hours and you can see if it works for you!
I think the support for your tablet is lacking and a need for an actual developer to sort things out.
I am not sure about EMMA much but usually I know about JTAG is used to recover hard brick devices. Giving it to Sony is always better option with an impression that you left it charge over night and it wouldn't turn on again. Always works!
Don't worry. It wouldn't be the first tablet hopefully!
Forgot to mention in my previous posts: when I got my tablet back from service, the battery was almost empty (<2%). That gives some support to the notion that you have to drain the battery to unbrick.
Note to would-be buyers who need root: stay away from this tablet (and probably Sony in general). The rooting procedure described in several threads here will drive you mad. It´s catch-22 all the way. (... after step 28 do step 11 unless your device is not LTE then do step 31 and you´re screwed with bootloop or hardbrick...) What a pile of sh**t!
Just tried again to plug it in,
sadly neither the computer nor the tablet showed any reactions in emma or flashtool.
Will try again in a few days.
Hope still is not dead.

Nah you just need to read all the threads stick to the one you most understand and be cautious on every step
in my case i thought i needed root but after all the process and setting up my device it didnt feel right so I went back to stock the nice thing is that i have a backup of the TA partition just in case :victory:
I didn't touch the device for a week now.
But nothing has changed, still bricked. I will sell it as broken.
Hope has died. :crying:
