Hi, I'm new to the forum and to android. I acquired. A dell streak off Craigslist with froyo v_1.6 by dj steve. Baseband 00-us. Phone works great with no sim card installed and on wifi. With sim card in it freezes randomly to the point I have to take out the battery to get it to turn off or the home menu and back buttons will flash a few times to reboot and then freeze. iv been ripped off and the previous owner will not respond. Can someone help? I can paypal money if needed or if your in the springfield il area I will come to you.

The only thing I have figured out is if I switched the network mode to gsm only it wont freeze. But if its on wcdma and im on hspa the phone freezes everytime. Explanations?

Hey I am having the same problem, how did you fix it? I have a white dell streak with the official 2.2 update. I switched SIM's and it freezes 1 min after start up every singe time.

Don't be bitter for lack of help, sometimes people don't have experience with specific problem or don't have helpful ideas, so they usually don't post a thing. That does not mean that you will not get any help next time...

Hi everybody.
I am having problem with any custom rom and the problem seems to be the same for all of them.
I have X10i with 2.1.A.0.435, baseband 2.1.54, xRecovery 0.3
The problem is that I get Force Close for com.android.phone every 5 seconds. When the sim card is not inserted, everything is fine.
I would appreciate any input.
why not just do all the tweaks to a generic 2.1? after you totaly tweak it out its pretty fast install go-launcher can have nicer look.... heres the tutorial i followed im happy with 2.1 now http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934486&highlight=speed+up+2.1
I was actually after adobe flash. I do have jit installed and i dont mind 2.1 at all. Its just the flash plugin that it lacks. But thank you

it happened to me because I tried to restore dialer storage(sms/apn/mms) through TB, and the problem was, the dialer.apk was a different version hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestion, but it happens right after i install 2.2. I also tried another rom, cant remember which. Same thing. It happens when i get signal. It shows the bars, then force close, shows no connection. Then everything repeats

I had this problem when I first flashed freex10 beta too. It turns out I was using an old sim card that froyo didnt like (I assume this was a pre-3g sim card) as funny as that sounds but I am also with fido. Try a new sim card.
It must be the sim card. it's probably 6 years old now lol. I do get 3G with phones that actually do support Fido/Roger's 3G band with this sim card, but my phone is actually x10i and I only get EDGE lol. I'm switching to WIND mobile tomorrow though, I'll see if it works with their sim. Thanks for the suggestion.

True, but I'm switching because WIND supports 2100 GHz band and I can get 3G to work with my phone.
OK, I switched to WIND today, and everything works (including 3G)! It was the SIM.
I noticed today my text messages were still showing "sending" in the bottom right corner of the text i just wrote. Not sure whats going on or what I can do. Im not rooted, and everything is stock. But people are saying they're not getting my texts, or if they are they're coming in wayyyyy late. Any suggestions as to why this is? I dont want to flood my friends with texts...
Its Tmobiles problem. Recently I've been having people tell me that I reply waaaay too late. Turns out there getting my messages 2 hours later

It is. I guess its due to the data plan. Im not sure but I've tried some tests.. I used my sisters cliq xt and there was the same lagg as on my vibrant. It would send about 10-15 then the rest would Lagg it about an hour or two. I used my moms samsung gravity with her sim and no Lagg. I had a 50 message conversation and no lagg at all I used my sisters samsung comeback and once again no lag. I even tried my sisters iphone with my moms sim meaning no data and nothing. No lag at all. So im guessing it has to do with data?

Ive had issues on Bell with text messages failing. They insist it is a phone problem. Samsung suggests a factory reset. While that may solve the problem, its not worth the time to me.

Which part of america are you in? Could just be regional as ive had no probs on the east coast.

Everything was working just fine untilled when I unlocked my dell streak with the at&t unlock code.I can't install any app except from the market,I can't switch my data to work only on 3g.please someone help me out of this maze

The solution to both of your problems is...
Wait for it...
Change your ROM.
You have an AT&T Streak that you had unlocked. Change your ROM to an unlocked ROM (e.g. 360) and eliminate all software related issues caused by AT&T's attempts to lock Android down. Not to mention likely fixing your HSPA issues.
Once you do that, go into Settings>Applications and make sure "Unknown Sources" is checked to allow downloads from outside the Market.

I purchased a galaxy s3 international version about a month ago. The phone was working fine for about a month until yesterday, my phone is getting very little or no signal at all. also, when i connect my phone to my car, the phone will start calling itself. i performed a factory reset and the bluetooth problem was gone, but the phone is still getting very little to no signal. wifi is working fine. i called Rogers, my service provider. all they ask me to do was to buy a new sim card or remove the battery from the phone and wait. none of those helped... :crying: i'm kind of desperate here as i can't figure out what went wrong with it... my phone is not rooted or anything... if someone can help me out, i would really really appreciate it. :crying::crying:
Unless you are willing to start flashing modems to your phone there isn't much we can do for you.
Best bet is to keep pestering your carrier if you don't wanna root and modify your phone.

thx for the quick reply. So rooting my phone and flash a new rom is the only solution? :crying: is it possible it's hardware problem?
Not a Rom, not before trying modems anyway.
It may be hardware related, you should keep pestering your carrier for a replacement.
If it world fine before then chances are its a hardware issue or the cell tower near you is down.

i just found out in my mobile network setting under access point names, there's LTE ththering and Rogers LTE, could this be the problem? cus my phone doesn't have LTE maybe that's why? sorry, i'm not very good at phone stuff, it's just my random guess...
Is your phone International I9300 ????

Did you try with a SIM of other network? This may at least point out that either it is network problem or hardware problem.

I don't have another micro SIM... I tried flashing different modem and firmware. But none of them works... the phone is connected to the network, just the signal is extremely low all of a sudden... I had an software update 3 days ago, maybe that's why?

Hey guys,
I have a s3 (gf using it) and she was complaining about the device with stock rom...no mods
So the problems I have no solutionfor:
Even the wifi\mobile data is always on...whenever the device screen is off even for five minutes, when someone sends a message for example on whatsapp... It is only after 5-10 is delivered...furthermore when someone calls her the display does not turn off for 2-5 seconds..
No energysavingmode nothing..
Any suggestion?
I just tried arhd 4.3 but still the same...can be kernel related? Its still the stock

Well unfortunately/fortunately I am not from the UK.
I will try tomorrow a different kernel, but I have had this with the old 4.1.2 software as well... So still no clue what could cause this and the delayed instant messages....
