Anything from Transformers would be awesome. Especially with all the color schemed themes out nowadays

Quick question, Once you make the bootanimation.zip file (part 0, part 1, part 2, desc) and place it in /system/media, why wont it load?
Rebooting, I'm only seeing the Android (Letterbox) and not the boot anime.
I used the Halo Master Chief blowing up the Apple building from the evo forum and converted the jpg's to png's and made sure the size and fps were correct then zipped it.

^ Did u delete the bootanimation.zip that was in that folder as well before adding yours?

Yes Sir, I deleted the bootanimation.zip file then added the new file I created.
Change permissions?
What's that look like?

Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the videos that play when you boot up the phone? I would imagine it's simply a matter of removing the video files but I have no idea where those files are hidden or if it's even possible.
At the very least I'd like to remove the verizon one... Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
+1. I'd like to remove the Verizon video as well. I almost want to put a Droid eye on it since I like this thing more than my buggy old X.

I've been wondering this as well. Already figured out how to get rid of the sound but the logo is just obnoxious.

I'd love to see some cool animation of the Galaxy S startup and then it switching to the Droid X eye instead of the stupid VZ splash screen.
I believe this is located in the framework-res.apk under assets if I'm not mistaken... someone chime in if I'm wrong.
Are the videos just MPEGs or some other form of video? If I knew a little bit more about the file requirements, I could put together a custom Droid eye animation to replace the VZ splash. But I'm new to this root-related stuff and don't know exactly where to look.

I believe it's an animated gif

Its in system/media/bootsamsung(forgottherest).qmg. The shutdown animation can easily be changed though. Details tomorrow....

I'd like to get rid of it as well. I know there's an app for custom boot animations but I don't think it works for our phone. Anything is better than the hideous VZ logo.

removing a few of the start up screens
I have already changed the initial boot screen (Atari girl), but I would like to see if I can either remove or hide the screen that loads the aMAGLDR , the DFT screen, the noisy HTC quietly brilliant animated screen. I have Android 2.2, Kernel 2.6.32.15-g66f6ed7-dirty, Build number 2.29.405.5.. thanks for your help in advance
Here's how to change the boot screen:

This belongs in Q&A not development.
theres people asking for this....and i don't think people should flash a non stable rom just for this animation....so here:
screen off and lock
doesn't use lock button, but you can remap long press of search button (i don't use google voice actions that much) to lock the screen with an animation.
hope this helps some people
oh....and if you're rooted (which most people on here are) you can pull the xml animation file and rename it lock_screen_enter.xml or lock_screen_behind_enter.xml, then push it to your frameworkres.apk/anim, it will be your animation for unlocking your phone. it's ultra fast and fits perfectly with the unlock sounds.
i'd include a video, but i dont have a digital camera....
Hmm, Im going to wait to see if someone tries this. Could be pretty epic.
Hmm I was under the impression that the frameworks prior to ginger bread had no support for that kind of animation.
Might when I get home, I really do like the tv animation
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
I guess pre-gingerbread, the sdk doesn't call for an xml when hitting the power/lock button. So that's why I use the feature to remap long pressing the search button.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
doesn't give me screen off animation like in gingerbread on my Vibrant..... uninstalled.....
You guys have to configure it first, you know..... Look in your apps for "configure screen off and unlock" it's not that difficult.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I'm using a vibrant too....and it doesn't require root....so whoever can't make it happen: you're doing it wrong

Thanks for quick responcse, but also I'm not dumb. I've configured it and still nothing.
Do you have all animations turned on in settings/display?

alright, sorry , it sounded like ya think i'm a moron. I tried 2 times, reinstalled, restarted, and still no Gingerbread style tv off animation. There seems to be a slightly different animation when putting phone to sleep when I set it to "old style TV", but def not gingerbread , not even close.
So I guess I'm must be doing something VERY wrong with the simple instructions and setttings... IDK man. Not sure what to say,
Thanks for the app, unfortunately tho it does not give that GB style tv off animation
EDIT: yes I have all animations turned on, always do
I figure it's close enough for those who really wanted the animation like me. And it works in landscape. So that's a plus to me.
I just wasn't down to install an unstable gb build for this animation.

I'm not bashing at all. Just reporting back from my use of the app. NONE of the animations I select work , so maybe it is the ROM I'm using. IDK.
Ty anyways
That's weird man. Sorry it's not working for ya. What rom are you using? I'm using original bionix v.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Working very well, thanks man! Are there any ways to speed/slow down the animation?
EDIT: Can you also elaborate on unlock animation? Does this mean when we hit the power button the screen will turn on that way in reverse? I'd like to get that going, but would I have to know how to edit and recompile an apk? I've never really messed with xml files.
I mean the transition from your lock screen to your home screen/open app.

can we do this using root explorer?
What I do is take this app from data/app and bring it to my computer, and extract scale_old_tv.xml, and rename it to lock_screen_exit.xml and take your framework, and drop it into framework/res/anim

Can anyone get the awesome Trigger 3.2 bootanimation in either white or a neon-ish green? I just don't like the blue, but that animation is badass. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I started doing this myself and have the images done, but the animation does not work. All I did was unzip, modify color and save, and zip everything back up. Anybody have any insight as to why this does not work? It just sits at a black screen for booting.

Tonicacid has a good tutorial on the process that may help you find what you're missing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=862537&highlight=tonicacid
Would simply creating a morph work to modify the images? I've made lots of morphs, but it was always for modding framework images. If you shoot me the images you've modified, I'll mess with creating a morph to see if it works.
I appreciate you trying to help, but I am already fixed. Moved on to miui, and had tons of selectable boot animations to pick from. Just got hooked on another. Sorry for the late response, have not been on in awhile

I found this bootanimation earlier today browsing through facebook. I like it alot but it's not the right resolution for evo 3d. Would it be possible to convert it to the correct resolution for our phones?
Here is the link to the zips. http://www.rasdroid.com/android-and-i/android-custom-boot-animation-like-a-boss/
There is a landscape and portrait version. (I would like the portrait version converted)
Here is the link to a youtube video of the animation. http://htcdev.net/topic/101082-boot-animation-like-a-boss/
Thanks in advance to any who can help me!

no problem
Ok, I appreciate the help but something is wrong with it. It's the right animation but it is squashed and kinda looks funny lol. The original is small in the middle, this one is puffy lol. I can't really explain it. I guess the only way you could see is if you flashed the original first, then flashed yours to see the difference. But I appreciate your help regardless
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
yeah i seen that since it was made for landscape and the sizes they used when you push it to portrait it will give it a smashed together look
So it doesn't matter if you use the portrait or landscape animation? Because there is two of them on that link
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
all he did was rotate 90 degrees. they where made 480 wide by 288 and when you make it 540 by 960 you will get that look. the desc was made to leave them at that size when played thats why it looked more centered than it is. here is the og pic

Gotcha. Thanks

tomorrow after work i'll see if there is anyway to cut the images or overlay them to some how make it more centered
I appreciate it

So there are a thousand threads on enabling/disabling the CRT animation on android devices. But I have yet to come across one that shows how to create your own.
Is this just impossible? Or is it somwthing done so rarely that it just hasn't been covered in a thread?
I know the basics of replacing other animations but have not been able to narrow down a search for a specific file or folder location that points to the CRT animation that I want to change.
Anyone else ever looked for it or had any success in doing so?

I've played with it before. What I've been wanting (but haven't dug around for it recently) is to find the files that control it, what kind of images, xml, smali, whatever may be used, and make my own to replace the standard ones.
I don't think a whole lot of people really theme that kind of thing, bit it would be cool to try.
