Ask for software - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

Hi, I own an Acer DX900 dual sim WM6.1. I've bought a chinese tablet with android 2.1 installed. I use WMwifirouter 2.0 trial to connect to internet, but I can't use the wifi connection, because Android 2.1 doesn't recognize an ad-hoc IBSS protocol, so i have to use the usb connection.
I'd like to know if you know any free software to share internet connection, via usb, between a WM phone and a tablet instead of WMWifirouter, i really would prefer a free software.
Thank you
Sorry for my bad english!

AKU 3.5.2 + Internet Sharing + Missing Sync

I updated my 8525 with the official AT&T AKU 3.5.2. When I enable Internet Sharing and connect the phone via USB to my Mac, it kills Bluetooth and nothing happens.
With AKU 3.3, this was not an issue. I tried it on a Macbook Pro and a Macbook with the same result. No problem using Bluetooth PAN, but slow.
Just for the fun of it, I tried Internet Sharing with Windows XP running in Parallels, and it works fine via USB cable.
Anyone having the same issue? Any registry hacks or drivers to solve the problem?
Thanks in advance.
Ted
There must be a Mac user here who upgraded t AKU 3.5.
What do you mean by "it kills Bluetooth and nothing happens"?
Does it kill your bluetooth on your mac or on your 8525?
Are you trying to both do internet sharing via USB and connect to your Mac via Bluetooth from your 8525 at the same time?

After I enable ICS on my 8525, and connect the USB cable to MAC, somehow, the bluetooth on my MAC gets disabled [Bluetooth Not Avaible message with the icon grey out], and my 8525 still says "check USB cable". But, there's no connection. I made sure that BT is disabled on my phone, and PC to USB is unchecked.
Just as a test, I connected my 8525 to another MAC that doesn't even have Missing Sync and the same thing happened. With ICS on, USB connection basically disables Bluetooth. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why that happens. USB shouldn't interfere with Bluetooth.
In the meantime, it works fine with PC.
Hope someone can shed some insight.

I see the same thing on AKU 3.5 and Tiger 10.4.9 when I just tried it. Once 10.4.9 came out and supported PAN, I stopped using the USB connection. I still get 400kbps or so with Bluetooth, so there's I don't really have a reason to use USB (plus the Hermes drains a MacBook Pro's battery rather fast - I can drain a notebook battery in an hour with the phone plugged in vs. 3 hours without).
Jmat, thanks for the reply. It's good to know that it's not just my phone. I hope this can be fixed though. I do use BT PAN with OS X 10.4.9, but it would be nice to have the USB option since it's about 2x faster.
I cannot understand why USB connection would wipe out Bluetooth on my MAC though.
I know someone here will figure it out.
eh, 10.4.9 supports pan? news to me. i use my pc more than my mac, so i think i only have 10.4.8. i have the latest aku (as far as i know) from the newest cingular rom. i'll give it a shot.
Internet Sharing + OS X
I was able to tether 8525 to powerbook G4 thru bluetooth for internet connection. Then clicking the dropdown for the phone icon and clicking bluetooth. It would dial then authenticate, and I would be connected to the internet. In doing that, I needed to download Tytn modem script for mac modem, it worked great! However, I recently upgraded the ROM (2.06)on the 8525, and now Internet Sharing is the protocol for for Wireless Modem. This method directs the device to connect thru bluetooth by joining the network associated with the Pocket PC, once connected in the bluetooth icon dropdown, I try to access webpages and I get "Not Connected to the Internet."
I've heard of AKU, can someone please refresh my memory, and will it be necessary to update to correct my issue?
Can someone please assist me with using the 8525 to tether with a Powerbook G4 to connect to the internet?
**NOTE** Also, MissingSync for 8525 does not work since the ROM update. I was never successful connecting to it thru BT, but it worked great thru USB. Now I try to connect thru USB , the connection is lost when attempting to start MissingSync app. Any Ideas??
Thank you

Internet Sharing + OSX
I've been using my Hermes to connect to the internet from my powerbook for a few month (BT connection). It was working OK although conflicting with direct push.
Since I upgraded to AKU 3.3 and use internet sharing, it is now much more reliable, connects fast and transparently.
I recently got MissingSync to work, by enabling advanced USB settings thru the phone.
My other issue that is still unresolved is that when I connect the BT PAN from the phone, and join network from the BT setting from the MAC, I connect successfully, but I still can not access internet on MAC. It appears that there are internal settings that need to be altered to access web pages once connected thru BT PAN/Internet share? Any Ideas, please help! Thank you.

Can you tell me how you set up the connection? I've paired my Hermes and Powerbook, turned internet sharing on, I can join the PAN network but the Powerbook refuses to connect to the internet.
PB PAN
Have you set your network conf to Automatic?

Internet Sharing via USB Cradle with Wallaby?

I would like to use the Wallaby as a modem: It connects to the internet and allows my pc to use that connection. With the HTC Hermes and WM 6, this is easy: I just use "Internet sharing", and then the Hermes connects to the internet (using my GPRS internet connection) and everything works. Just, I have not yet found a similar feature for the Wallaby. I am using some kind of ROMKitchen's version, but it does notprovide the same feature. I have a program called "wireless modem" which allegedly does the same, but it does not (apart from the fact that it only works via infrared).
In short, I would just like to use the Wallaby with WM 2003 in the same manner as a modem for my pc as the Hermes.
1. Is there any freeware available in order to accomplish this goal?
2. would an upgrade to WM 2003 SE help?
Thanks for any help.
Michael
internet sharing that you are using on your hermes is only available in wm5/wm6 and as you cannot upgrade the wallaby to wm5/6 then i am afraid you wont be able to use this feature on the wallaby.
Thank you very much for answering. There is no software-based alternative available, either?

Rudegar , that link describes how to share the internet from the pc to allow the wallaby internet access.
What michael here wants. is to have internet access on his pc via the wallaby. As i have already said though i doubt anybody has even bothered developing internet sharing on the wallaby, i would hate to imagine the slow speed you would get from a wallaby
no only the first one is about that

isssue is that the archos doesn't see ad-hoc connections.
you have to use bluetooth tethering on the wm device. i do it all the time
Can't get through it with bluetooth also.
Dear godashram, thank for sharing but I still can't get it done by BT. I started the 3G to BT function on the WMwifirouter program. The BT is on but can be detected by my Archos 101 while I could find out other BT device in the open area. Don't know if you could provide me more details on setting it up. thanks.
well, 1st, instead of wmwifirouter, do any of your wm phones have the internet connect sharing? either available or hidden (ics.exe, intshr.exe etc in the windows directory?)

[Q] Getting Streak to access laptop network resources

Hi Guys, I'm trying to get my Streak to access my companys network via my laptop (USB connection), but I can't figure out how to do it. Basically, my laptop (XP) has a VPN client on it, and I need the Streak to route internet traffic through it. Is this possible? It was automatic with WM.
You cannot access your network via USB connection from Streak to PC. It doesn't work like this with Android.
You can connect via Wifi and "see" shared network files with a file explorer program or share your mobile internet to your PC (teether).
I 'm not sure what you actually want to do.
I get what you mean. Sort of usb tethering from laptop to phone like in winmo's activesync software. I am afraid you just cannot do this on android.
ok, thanks for the reply.

Not true. I did if fine with PdaNet with my Sony Experia X10 which is a android phone. However I can't get it to work with the Streak.

Connect gtablet to internet via usb port of Windows Mobile

I haven't found a tool to do that, but found it's really easy to do it..
Open WM6′s Start->Settings->General Settings->USB Connection, check ‘ActiveSync’ radio button. (using Omnia2, your WM6 might be different)
Open WM6′s Start->Internet Sharing, select USB PC Connection, and Connect.
Connect the WM6 via a USB cable to gtablet
Open terminal emulator on Android, and ‘root’ (#su)
#ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.47
#route add default gw 192.168.0.1 dev eth0
#setprop net.dns1 192.168.0.1
I am not an android developer, but feel it's useful if anybody can build an app to connect gtablet to internet via usb to PC/Android/WindowsMobile/etc.
It's even better if the 'reverse tethering' could be integrated to settings. I do not know how many guys subscribe data plans for both their mobile phone and tablet, but cannot justify to do so. A easy to use 'reverse tethering' could be important for tablet.
Very interesting...
... especially considering that most android tablets are wifi only. I personally use tethering from my HD2 with CM7 android rom but I'm looking for alternative ways to do it. Thanx

another alternative via PAN client (bluetooth), although I am not sure the power consumption comparison between bluetooth/wifi sharing.
I have a HTC Tilt2 and a tablet with Android 4.0.3. The way you sey it is not working! Another way to share internet from wm to Android via usb? Thank tou very much for any answer!
