hey, i have been trying for ages trying to upgrade my xda to windows mobile 6.1 or higher but have had no luck. so i will pay anyone by paypal who can help me do this. i have tried to update my xda a couple of times now but when its done nothing has changed.... in the RUU after i click UPDATE it shows..

does your phone has a hspl/sspl ?
if not follow the steps below.
G4.5 Download enable-rapi.zip. Transfer Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab to your phone. Run Cert_SPCS.cab FIRST and EnableRapi.cab SECOND. Turn your device off and on or wait 5 minutes before soft resetting. Done? Go to G4.6.
G4.6 Follow this great thread by the-equinoxe: [solution] G4 SoftSPL Flash any ROM to CID locked G4 [UPDATED] and load the softSPL on your device using his method. Make sure you take a G4 safe rom (see the thread for details). After the steps you'll have the rom of your choise on your device!
G4.7 You're reade to flash the AKU2, AKU3, WM6 rom of you're choise IF the rom DOESN'T contain IPL/SPL. AKU3 and WM6 roms normally don't contain IPL/SPL. If you want to flash an AKU2 rom, make sure you take the G4 version. If you get an error 300 (invalid update tool) while trying to flash your device look at this thread!
NOTE: If you tried to flash a G3 rom with IPL/SPL in the rom on a G4 you probably will have a bricked device! DON'T flash the new 3.08 and 3.09 IPL/SPL to your G4!
NOTE2: If you got problems flashing with softSPL: Follow this great thread by mun_rus: Solutuion found: how to flash any rom to CIDLOCKED DEVICE. If your device won't start after flashing you can use step G4.2 and G4.3 and try again. Also look at this thread by eddieitman: Faria G4 Step by step installer with instructions to make sure you did all the necessary steps!

I am using Wm6 Black 2.5 (OLIPRO 2.10) on my M3100 and when I am trying to install this update (BTW, it is a WM6 ROM ? ) I get an error from the RUU application that it cannot connect to the device (ERR 260). I have installed the Vista drivers and I don't know what to do ( I have read the guides and read the forum). Thanks in advance for any advice!

My device is reporting 2.11.61.1 (23/3/07), Operator version 14.211.1.611.
If you tell me how to work out the Ext. Rom version number I'll have a look and report that too.
so what rom would i need to install first in order to be able to install this update??? i am running black 2.5 also but want to go back to the orange preloaded version.

I have the same error as well. Is it because I have used hermes unlocker v3a to my M3100?
all those with 26x error, not able to update... extract the NBH file from the rom, then use CustomRUU (see stickies) to flash it.

@PETE that is not the reason the upgrade is not running. He can just FLASH Olipro1.10 which is 1.04 based then flash this ROM. However the 260error is not coming from the device. It is coming from the PC. I do not have a VISTA machine so maybe someone else shed some light. He should also search the threads for that error because it has been mentioned numerous times before.

[Help] ROM upgrade error
I tried to install the new M3100 ROM downloaded from the Orange page, and at the step before the M3100's screen goes tricolor, it got resetted and disconnected from my PC. The next thing I know I got an error saying "Your phone is not connected to your PC blah blah". Am I missing something here?
P.S: I dont have a craddle, the phone is connected using USB cable.
Have you done any upgrades on the device at all?? (such as HardSPL or a new radio)

But..what you forgot..is to backup or read more about flashing..You cant reset it back to the original (what you wanna call it) "firmware"...

Well, this is not EXACTLY correct. Check out THIS LINK for downgrade directions. You will need to get the original ROM from somewhere. It is possible that it is HERE IN THE WIKI. Chances are that one of the files there has the same Radio, IPL & SPL. You will just need to find the OS, if it is not in there. (In fact, based on the specs, it looks like the third from the bottom of the English ones - Vodafone?) To flash, you will need dutty's good nbh tool to unpack the ROM, becuase you will need to do the IPL and SPL separately from the OS and radio. See THIS LINK for that info. If you don't want to get into all the unpacking, you *could* do the SPL downgrade first, then the upgrade, but it is generally good practice to downgrade SPL as a LAST step since you lose the hardspl protection as soon as you do it. Finally, use the google search link in my signature if you need to find anything else. Good luck.

Ok, tell me if i correctly understand..
I found the correct rom, after i have to unpack this rom with dutty's good nbh tool..(i have to remove Ipl & Spl?).
After the unpack i have to pack again the rom without ipl and spl and flash it in my Herm??!!is it correct? And in the end i have to change ipl and spl(is it a down grade?).
Last questions yet,
What i have to verify first that i start all this work on my herm to not brick my Herm?

I may have made it more complicated. That is the process I use.
Best thing to do is simply follow Mrvanx guides.
First downgrade the OS/Radio using THIS GUIDE
Then downgrade SPL/IPL using THIS GUIDE
That is all - as long as you have HardSPL, it is VERY hard to brick your device. So, do that last.

Yes. The only reason to remove HardSPL is for warranty. Just for clarification, there is no Hard IPL, only Hard SPL, but I know what you mean.
Basically, 99% of the time most of us flash we are only flashing OS or Radio. SPL and IPL don't change often. Most cooked ROMs are released as OS only.
Ah ok perfect, i'm not interested to the device warranty, because i bought it on ebay from Uk, and there is no warranty on my device, so i can only flash os without ipl and spl..

No worries.
To unpack the exe, just use winrar and open it up. You will get a RUU_signed.nbh and an RUU. Just use the nbh file with the custom_ruu.
Yes, you can downgrade radio to 1.47 safely. No worries. I tried 1.51 too - didn't work out for me either. back to 1.50 for me.

Some Custom Roms havent setup the EXT_ROM. Then you cant unlock them!! Unlocking is a Driver setting with enabled or disabled Writing Prodection and make them visible!

You must first unlock your SPL and then you can flash any ROM you like.
If the SPL ends in "1" the device is a G4 else is a G3.
I have attached the program for unlocking the SPL. I already used it, and now I am testing any ROM I like on my S200.
Just run "RomUpdateUtility..." after you sync your device. If after this procedure on your startup screen apears on SPL "4PDA" you solve the problem.
If you have any questions post them here.

i have a G4 locked CID and everything else locked
i spent a hell lotta time to upgrade mine but couldnt but at last found a way
the way i see it the thing that you pppl hav ried is that you ttried to upgrade by just running the RUU update utility with the ROm programs right?
WRONGGG dont use that in some cases it will brick you are lucky if it wasnt working coz if it does it will brick your cell
just follow these points
1- download WIzard love rom .. its a windows mobile 5 rom but its a safety rom ifever you abve to upgrade you have to first install this on ur wizard then upgrade and also if you have bricked ur cell then all you have to do is install this and everythign goes well
2- download any rom you want to upload
3- download SHELL TOLL program by mun its the only pgram that can install windows mobile 6 on g4 cid locked wizards
4- foloow the instructions given with shell toll
5- enjoy

hi, yes, you can flash a new rom, but first of all, read , read, read and then read again, the process is very simple once you have readed the faqs (stickies)

I´ve read the Wiki and the sticky´s in this forum, i´ve searcht for my IPL/SPL Build and read this topics too.
But i´m unsure.
In the past (when the Wizard was new for me) i´ve read that the IPL/SPL 3.08.0001 (AKU3) wasn´t possible to upgrade .
Now i can´t find anything about that but i´m unsure.
Then i´ve read about Soft an HardSPL Flash but what is the best for me?
I´ve read that SoftSPL was better if you have warranty on your phone but my phone havent any warranty because it´s to old.
Should i use HardSPL to permanently remove the CID lock (then i should use only G4Save Rom´s - Right?)?
