Hello All,
I bricked my x10, and did a PC companion update repair. I also reformatted the sd card. However, now I cannot root with z4. It is stuck on " running exloit in order to obtain root access, or that it exits and when I try to go back into the program, it says that an unexpected error had occurred and need to force stop. Once its force stopped, I cannot go back into the program. I tried restarting the phone, but the same thing happened. I reformatted my phone and card two more times, but same problem exists. Please help! Thanks!

Make sure you have USB debugging and Unknown sources checked.
they are both on, and yet it is still stuck =[ what should I do to fix it?

Try uninstalling it. Then, make sure you download it to the sdcard before you install it using Astro or equivalent. I had a similar problem when I tried to install it straight from dropbox rather than downloading it to the sdcard first and then installing it.
I hope you are not trying to root the latest Generic 2.0.2.A.0.24 FW because that is not rootable at the moment?
how do I know if I have the Generic 2.0.2.A.0.24 FW?? I went to 'about phone" and only see that the firmware version is 2.1 update1. is that the unrootable firmware? I also tried using astro to install it thru sd card but it still doesnt work..... maybe I should just root it with one click and not use z4 anymore?

Go to settings --> about phone and scroll down. It should tell you what build you have.
aiya... it appears that I do have the 2.0.2.A.0.2.4 FW. thats why z4root wont work..... is there a way that I can revert back the firmware? is this FW recently released? What is the advantage of this FW over the older version?? Thanks

Yes it is recently released. It is a minor update that fixes some bugs but, there is no official changelog from SE. You can flash back to older FW from here.

First, install X-recovery and read the instructions here.
Second, go here and follow the instructions in post #1.
Third, go here to install JiT.
Each post has very simple instructions, so just read through them. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the help, but can I install xRecovery on an un-rooted phone? Because the xRecovery post says that the requirement is that the phone must be un-rooted .... do I still have a chance?

You can flash to an older FW from the link I gave you earlier in post #8. Use Z4root to root and then install x-recovery.
which firmware should I download? I have a x10i, but the firmware in the flashing post only have Nordic, German and CH under x10i. Is there an English version? Thanks!
i've up my phone with seus & i've the same probleme
Very thank for you job, with you i've repaired my x10 and rerooted yeah ^^

Download the X10i global from here.
got it work by re-flahsing it back to the old FW. Didnt bother to update to the newer FW, but everything feels fine! Thanks everyone!
Do we need to re-root and re install all the apps everytime that there is a FW update? like re do the whole process when a new FW gets released??

Hi,
I want to put a new room on my phone.
Is it possiable to backup the currect rom in case i would like to go back to it?
Thanks a lot
Yes, before flashing your new rom, you'll have to boot into your Custom Recovery. Then select Nandroid back-up. This will back-up your current rom completely and allows you to go back to it, no matter what.

*OTA from .368 rooted (global) fail!!!
I have just reflashed 2.3.2 global -> root with Gingerbreak 1.20 -> Update OTA 104Mb --> Successful (Rooted remain)
*...removed...*
Maybe it's the same thing that happened before, rooted terminals will not get the update via OTA unless they have a German firmware...
I have NEO with 2.3.3 4.0.A.368 (root), but I cannot find Update software (OTA update) in Settings menus. If I update via OTA will I loose root?

Fail .
I'm also getting the Failed after Failed message... already attempted 5 or 6 times.
I do have a backup of the /system/app files I modified after rooting the last version, so I'm going to restore them to the phone and retry one more time.
I'm trying not to lose all my settings and stuff I did with a complete wipe in order to maintain root...
EDIT:
meh, I backed up all my stuff with titanium and I'm going the old way of flashing back to a rootable version, use gingerbreak and then updating.
I guess a clean install never hurt anyone
I think best option is Flashtool

So we need to re-flash the 2.3.2 (global? german?), use gingerbreak and then search for the OTA, as we did with the 2.3.3???

Just like what happened when the 2.3.3 got released: if you messed up (replaced) any of the apk in the /system/app, then my guess is that you need to reflash it. The OTA fails (not sure if it's doing some checksum of the apk files).
I'm in the process of updating to the 2.3.4 (downloading right now) from the 2.3.2 Global that I just flashed and rooted with gingerbreak.
Regarding user data, apart from a couple of settings that Titanium might miss, a restore from that app will take only a couple of minutes and all apps and data will be back. (I'll take the chance to keep my system clean and not restoring some apps that I used only once or twice and were sitting there wasting space).
It's probably the safest and fastest method if the OTA fails.

No.
I can confirm that an OTA-update from rooted 4.0.A.2.368 to the new 4.0.1.A.0.283 can be done successfully.
Did it just now and now I have 2.3.4 with root permissions.
Have not touched any of my apps in /system/apps folder.

Well thanks for the explanation! I didn't erase anything from /system/app, just uninstall some pre-installed things (only the few that appeared in the uninstall panel), so tomorrow I will try with OTA and see what happens, elsewise I will made a backup with Titanium and reflash the 2.3.2...

And I guess that's the trick, not to touch the /system/apps. I changed some system apps (maps, facebook, etc) and also the framework files to install other themes. I couldn't make the update OTA.
So let me get this straight if you mess with any apps in the /system/apps folder the update won't show up at all or will it just fail? I have generic trade german and it says my phone is already up to date when I check for OTA updates.

Yes, but no Software update there. Only information about the phone and its software.
i deleted framework-res, and my phone is reboot now all time. what i shouldt do now? Adb shell will always say the device is not connected.
sorry for my bad english

WontanServer is free, all you have to do is make an account first. All flashing is free from WontanServer but unlocking you have to pay for.
from wotanserver i can choose any firmware ... and flash it ? like even the previous version .... for eg if i am on .62 , i can flash .58 with no problems rite ?

Yea, you can flash .58 without any problems but if you do flash you will lose all your data on your phone and loose root permissions too. So make a backup of all your apps or make a NANDroid backup

He deleted framework-res.apk file, doing NANdroid backup will only help if he restores some parts of phone data.
Backing up apps can only be done via NANDroid backup.

I upgraded my LG Optimus One from it's original Froyo 2.2 to the newer Jelly Bean 4.1. The upgrade worked well but now I cannot get on the a mobile network, I cannot connect properly with Bluetooth and I cannot even download apps. My phone has become completely useless. Is there a way I can get it back to it's original 2.2 format?
How did you upgrade it? I guess through cwm recovery? Did you make backup before?
Well you can always do a factory reset and flash a 2.2 or 2.3 Android.
you might try find 2.2 firmware and flash them into your phone

Yes I did use clockworkmod recovery to upgrade it. I'm not sure, I thought I did make a backup on my SD card but I can only access it by plugging the card into my computer. I don't have a USB cord and the bluetooth isn't working correctly. I tried a factory reset and it turns out that that does not affect the OS.

Try the backup/restore option in cwm and see if it finds your backup.
Other than that see if you can find another (more stable) rom and flash it

Only problem with that is that I followed the instructions from a video and when I installed the 4.1 rom it said to make sure I factory restored it so there wouldn't be any problems with things not being compatible. So I do not have the app on my phone anymore. I can install apps but they go straight to my SD card which I can't access on my phone.
