WontanServer is free, all you have to do is make an account first. All flashing is free from WontanServer but unlocking you have to pay for.

Yea, you can flash .58 without any problems but if you do flash you will lose all your data on your phone and loose root permissions too. So make a backup of all your apps or make a NANDroid backup

He deleted framework-res.apk file, doing NANdroid backup will only help if he restores some parts of phone data.
Backing up apps can only be done via NANDroid backup.

I installed Xrecovery 0.3 and made a backup of my system before upgrading to .435.
Since the calendar app gives me problems in this firmware (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946217) I want to go back to my pre-435 backup.
I got Xrecovery working, restore goes perfectly, but after restore the phone stops at the SE-logo.
I also have two other pre-435 backups. Same problem. Can't get them to work.
Is there a way to get them up and running again?
Was your previous firmware .435?
Nope, I believe it was .24 or so

You can't restore you settings from .24 and expect to have all your files and apps.
Why is that?
Should i flash a .24 rom with flashtool and retry afterwards?

Maybe you can restore some parts with recovery, but you can't restore everything.

Try copying the systemUI.apk Black_Jackss provided to sdcard then from adb shell try:
adb push /sdcard/SystemUI.apk /system/app
Or reinstall firmware from seus or flashtool. There are many guides around the forums if you would like to search.

best option is to reflash because you flashed a zip that affected both framework-res and system-ui.
and also make a backup before installing flashable zip again

Hi,
I have an xperia active, and I'm going to root it; have anyone any tips/ things to do before rooting?
I was thinking about backup firmware/kernel, but i found that is possible only if you have root permissions, is it correct?
As you can immagine I'm a bit worried about voiding warranty (my phone is 2 weeks old now), so I'm trying to understand how to backup everything in case I've to revert to a stock phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

For backing up apps individually
I suggest Titanium Backup from Play Store
And if you want to back up your whole firmware with kernel...
Then make nandroid backup via Clockworkmod Recovery

CWM is only possible with cwm installed (needs rooted phone or unlocked bootloader).
So you want to backup the original ftf file (all files+kernel)?
There should be a repair option in pc companion and it will download the whole firmware again in a folder on your pc. This is the original firmware, so try this
Copies of stock firmware and kernel are already out there.
Just download that, flashtool and read how to use it in case something goes wrong
Thank you all,
now I'm more prone to root my phone
As expected, is impossible to backup firmware/kernel directly before rooting, but the repair option in pc companion is very interesting way to download official relases.

You can download this file and flash it via flashtool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249344&highlight=+400
Download flashtool from here: http://androxyde.github.io/ There is a version for mac too.

If you are on unblocked bootloader you will not be able to update your phone via pc companion.

And if PC Companion already download the files you can create the ftf file yourself.

No mate. Will erase all your data (except files on internal storage).
My advice is to save photos etc on pc and do a factory reset. After that you will have your phone exactly as mom sony produced it ( except unlocked bootloader).
If i can help you any further let me know

Flashing firmware don't change "internal storage" just "device memory", but you'd lose apps and settings.
Titanium back can restore apps and settings but you have to approve installation of each app again and it takes a lot of time. The phone must also be rooted. For apps settings it should be ok.
Usually PlayStore install all my apps after flashing firmware. I think you need the acount backed up on google servers.
Hi guys,
I'm using Xperia sola rooted phone with 4.0 and I was installing metamorph - lock theme and the phone restarted and it is going in an endless loop of resarts.
It's possible to put the phone completely off by using power & volume key combo, also i can put the device under flashboot and fastboot mode.
Kindly tell me a way outta this !!
I won't be getting a cell phone for another year I guess

CWM isnt installed on my xperia sola sadly
This is the theme file : "droidpirate.com/2011/09/14/metamorph-droid-bionic-lock-slider-bionic/"
prior to this, an app named metamorph was installed.
I can put the device in flashboot/fastboot though!
Any chances that I can recover the phone?

If you bootloader is unlocked you can try flash a kernel with CWM that support adb.
If not, do you have the FTF file for the firmware that is currently installed?
I would try at first flashing system.sin only from the firmware FTF, no wipes everything else expluded.
You will lose root and other modes copied directly to /system but you should have data intact.

Well no CWM installed & I haven't done the unlocking of bootloader yet.
Yeah I do have these two files in my flashtool firmware folder which I used :
MT27i_6.1.1.B.1.10_KERNEL.ftf
MT27i_6.1.1.B.1.54_KERNEL.ftf
Which one are you referring to, since I had to use .10 first followed by .54 to get the root done !
Can you please point to a tutorial where I can follow the steps which you are referring to? That will be helpful

But flash overrides and erase everything.
For root didn't you just had to install kernel .10 over .54 firmware no?
Anyway the system from the one that is flashed now you the only one that knows which, I am guessing .54
