How can I keep bluetooth tethering from crashing and rebooting my phone? I'm using the Wireless Tether app. Wifi and USB tethering work fine on the phone, but when I try to connect via bluetooth PAN it chokes and dies.
I've been using Nonsensikal Froyo v5.4 for a very long time now, and it does almost everything perfectly... including bluetooth tethering! However, more recent ROMs I've tried (such as Nonsensikal 16.1 and GSB 1.2) have the crashing problem.
According to an issue (#172) on the Wireless Tether tracker, it's a problem in Cyanogenmod's pand program. I can corroborate this because if I run "pand -s" in the terminal and try to tether, I get the same crash. If it was fixed at one point though, it's come back.
Ideas, anyone?

Hi everyone .. I'm having issues tethering with my a70it through a rooted HTC Dream (G1) with Cyanogen 6.1
I have installed Wireless Tether for root users, and it works fine over wifi with my laptop, but my a70it doesn't see it using wifi, and its a bloody batery sucker.
So I've tried using BT. I change Wireless Tether to use BT, pair de archos and then in options I see the phone ready for tethering. I set it up and when I click on "Tether" I've found two different problems.
Sometimes it just stays "connecting" for a while then says it's impossible to connect, and sometime it connects, I can browse using navigator for some seconds, but then, without doing anything I get network error and I can't use internet anymore... though it stays connected (the little phone in the a70 taskbar keeps showing).
Anyone had this kind of problems? Is there any workaround to make it work?
Thanks!
Moved to general as not rom development
Try this Wireless tether apk, it is a older version and it works perfect for me on my incredible and on my wife moto2.
Currently running Super Clean 2.8 and wireless tether does not work. Is there a working combo that will work? Some one suggested this but it did not work either. http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...ame=wireless_tether_2_0_7.apk&can=2&q=Generic
I just tested this (android wifi tether) on SC2.8 and it works fine. I think even the 3G Mobile Hotspot is supposed to work.
At what point does it fail?
Every device I have attempted to connect fails to see the device in the list of wifi connections. I've tryed with no security or encryption but my phone still doesn't show up in the list wifi connections.
I'm running KaosFroyo and wireless tether 2_0_7, and attempts to use bluetooth tether result in the phone rebooting itself. This has happened on a few other roms as well. Any suggestions?
Is it a known Issue with CM7 - 0713 that Wifi hotspot is not working? Devices can connect to it, but can not get an internet connection
Try Barnacle. I had issues with WiFi Tether, but Barnacle worked right out of the box. Just the opposite of my experience on TW.
Yea, barnacle doesn't work either. I am specifically looking for the built in hotspot for Access Point mode.
Barnacle works flawlessly, try disabling the wpa supplicant setting

If you know how to get CM7 into Modem mode, I can give you instructions on how to get the built it Hotspot app to work. I'm currently running MIUI (which is based off of CM7) and am having the same issue. The problem is that you need to get the phone into Modem mode in order to connect your phone to QPST to change a setting that will unlock the Hotspot app.
Does anybody know how to get a Fascinate running CM7/MIUI into Modem mode?
Well, after trying to tether an ASUS Transformer, I see your point. Barnacle does ad hoc rather than AP, so it won't work.
Bump. Also experiencing this problem with MIUI. Has anyone ever come up with a solution?
I have a fascinate, rooted with Cyanoganmod that I've been using as a wifi hotspot for some time. I have a Dell laptop that I connected with it regularly. For some reason, when I try to use my new Gtab, the ad-hoc wifi doesn't show up. It does for other devices but not the Gtab. I have that rooted with Gtabcomb and tried a friends Gtab with Gtabcomb..same issue. Could it be Gtabcomb not allowing me to attach to ad-hoc wireless networks? I did try a fix someone posted up here for Barnacle but that didn't work.
Thanks,
Did you try entering the ad-hoc info manually? I had to do that on my tab running VegaN 5.1 because it wouldn't "find" the ad-hoc network. Once I added it manually it connected right up.
Joe
weird. i can tether via barnacle with no problems from my facinate to my gtab with no issues.
No I tried setting it manually but I get "not in range". Tried darn near every setting I can think of in Barnacle an another wifi app to no avail. UGH!!!
brad08stanggt, what ROM are you using?
