No, the HTC Gratia shipped with Froyo 2.2 and HTC Sense and the HBOOT loader has been modified so that Unrevoked will no longer work. There is currently no permanent rooting solution for the unbranded Aria/Gratia that are running HTC Froyo 2.2.
That's unfortunate, I would think htc would know that some people buy android phones to avoid these kind of problems.

There has been no progress on finding a rooting solution for the Aria/Gratia 2.2 ROMs. Without root it appears that there is no way to flash the required fonts on your phone.

Copying fonts needs to be done with the /system partition mounted Read/Write. On a rooted phone, this is done by booting into ClockworkMod recovery mode and mounting the system partition and then you can use "adb push" command to copy fonts to your phone. Although you can gain temporary root, I don't think you can mount the /system partition in R/W mode.

Hi bro
Finally I succeed to root my Gratia. I copied some Arabic fonts to system/fonts directory in R/W Mounted Mode. But there are no changes and like before Arabic words shows separated!!!
Is there any spacial fonts or method to copy fonts into fonts directory?
I use cyanogen mod 7. Works great with Arabic support. Correctly formats and connects letters and the keyboard works nice.

Yes. Every Aria ROM works on Gratia.
I have tried a lot of custom Roms. I'm on Neat ROM Lite now. Not sure which ROM changed my file access permission settings to cause this problem but I'm not able to delete any files from my external memory card. I was able to delete when I was on stock rom. The other problem is for a few apps I get an error message which says can't install on usb/sd card. I have posted this in another thread
some time back but got no response. Some one please point me in the right direction.
This is what my file permission looks like.
PS: I am able to delete when my fone is connected to PC via USB. So I don't think it has anything to do with a faulty sd card.

download mobile terminal from playstore
Hey I know its been quite sometime now.but as ur advice I downloaded mobile terminal and now have to run the following command everytime I boot my fone:
mount -o rw,remount -t/yaffs2 /storage/extSdCard
Otherwise i do not get rw access to my external sd.Istn't there a permanent solution to this? Also I fail to understand what changed my permissions and why does this persist across all the new roms I flash?

Create a blank file and type that command in it. Now save it and rename it to 95mountsd with no extension
Now, if you have init.d support, place it in /system/etc/init.d and reboot
Command will run on every boot itself
Thank you, it worked. Now could please have a look at my other issue, in this post I'd be really thankful.
Can you please tell me what could be the reason for my default rw settings to change, coz I remember when I had stock os I never had to do all this.

Hello All!
I'm a new member of this forum. I'm from Bangladesh. Recently i bought an Android Tab (Symphony T8Q) which using a MT8389 chipset. I was searching for method to root it and found this thread-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
this tool called Framaroot (v1.61) works for my device and my device rooted. after rebooting, i found supersu in apps and i can apply 'su' command from terminal emulator as well. Then i've checked with root checker app and it's also showing that my device is rooted. But problem is i can't move apps to SD card, i use Android Assistant app and there's no 'Move to SD' button under storage section!
Then i installed ES File explorer and found i can't write system partition as it's read-only. i issue 'chmod' command from terminal, which showing me file system is read-only. currently i need to move apps to SD card, but can't find a way to do it. Also i need to change default bengali font of JB (v4.2) by replacing system's bengali font (Lohit-Bengali) with my choosen font. For this i need a working root method. is there any other tool which can root my device fully? so that i can write system partition, move apps to SD etc. etc.
I need some help Guys! Thanks in Advance.
Me too...!!
I also have the device, but rooting seems to be a problem with it. Sounds like your condition is half success...any progress after that? Please let me know if there is...

So If u really need to root The T8q you have to install Developer Option.apk from play store, enable usb debugging and use motochopper to root it. It's gonna take 4-5 mins so don't get anxious. And if u wanna unroot it just use factory reset. :fingers-crossed:
Hello, im having a couple of problems regarding my filesystem as well as the app supersu and its binary file.
To start, i rooted with kingroot and switched to supersu using terminal emulator commands. There are still kingroot files in my xbin which i will attatch a picture showing the contents of my xbin folder in attatchments (i also have .tmpsu in xbin) please ask if you need more pictures or information of files located in my directories.
The problems i need help with is:
1. I cannot mount /system or any foler in that directory as r/w, i feel that there is a file located somewhere that is preventing me from mounting /system as r/w.
2. I cannot update the su binary, i have tried normal and twrp modes neither work. Ive also tried flashing the UPDATE-supersu-2.78.zip in twrp and that doesnt work either. It says that it installed but nothing changes once i boot back into system, i feel that me not being able to mount /system as r/w is preventing me from updating the su binary.
I need help on how to regain conrtol of my /system and how to update the su binary. Any help? Thank you

I did try that too, it took around 15-20 minutes to uninstall then when i rebooted the app was gone but my device still had root. I did get it to uninstall root 1 time then i went and flashed the zip file and the same problem occured again. Maybe kingroot just f-ed up my device so root will never work properly again? Maybe a virus? Idk whats going on with it.

Your device does not have twrp/cwm port ?
It does, i have twrp(touch) 3.0 for blu vivo xl. Thats the only way i got my device unrooted one time. What i had to do i had to boot into recovery, mount /system, reboot into system then root explorer would allow me to mount /system as r/w but i believe theres a script or something somewhere that is locking the /system into read only mode cause after a short period of time (around 5 minutes or so) i can no longer modify or delete anything in that folder even though it still says its in r/w and if i close root explorer and reopen it it shows that its back in read only mode even though i didnt change it back to that.
Edit: if i mount /system in twrp and boot into system when i boot back into twrp system is not mounted anymore, idk if its supposed to do that or not.
These are the only possible solutions ive been able to find that do kinda make sense.
"It's because you need a boot.img with r.o secure=0 in the build prop" i went and looked and my file says r.o secure=1 that would explain why my system will not mount as r/w.
Another post i found said -
"I've found the source of the problem asking in the MIUI forums, the boot image will not accept a modified /system.
You have to use the adb interface: adb devices then adb disable-verity.
Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for any damage caused by these operations."
The second solution seems more reasonable and alot easier to do. My question now is: will one or both of these solutions possibly fix both my problems? And the second solution disabling verify should that be okay to do without messing up my device? I do have that recovery i could flash but dont wanna do anything that might make the phone not boot into recovery.

I just remembered something. I think i know what bugged it. I was trying to do an ota update for my device and it wouldnt let me. I found another app by chainfire called flashfire. I tried to flash the ota update and i had the option "inject supersu" enabled even though i already had supersu installed and everything else i needed for root. I guess doing that messed up all my su files ect.. But how do i fix it? I cant uninstall root cause my /system folder is locked into r/o. If i press full unroot in supersu it will remove the app (although it takes a while!) but all the files needed for root stay.
Guess there just no fixing this phone. Someone really hacked it good i guess, problem is still there and nothing can fix it...
Update - thread can be closed
Problem fixed, to fix the problems i was having i had to download the stock system files for my device and flash them, after that just installed the latest supersu 2.78 zip and remount problem is fixed.

Go to twrp, mount system, go-to inbuilt file manager and chmod 755 the system folder and reboot, or Dirty flash the firmware will do the job.
Next time, do nand-backup before perform sny changes to system. or would be better don't messed up with root partition.
