anyone who has tried v20g....is there any new changes...when compared to gb rom's from noejn/andy/mik??
Read all the Threads about V20G, you may find the Answer there.
Use search before asking such Questions.
Thanks
i wanted to get replies from ppl who have tried it..!!
posting such questions in developer forum isn't needed and searching hundreds of pages is tough...
you can enlighten me with the direct link..or teaching me efficient ways of searching..
All in all, no the V20x(A,G) arent better then Miks,Andys or Noejn Rom and Franko'S Kernel.
But sometime this Night/Morning (Europe) LG released the 2.3.3 Source and we can hope on better Kernels..and maybe more bugless Roms from the Devs.
It looks like Andy already started, and im sure Mik and the others will follow soon in the next Days.
Andy statet that they have to do a complete restart (rewrite?) with the Kernel.

Well, there's at least 2 things that will be better in the V20x kernels: UMS & (my pet peeve in both current GB roms) Bluetooth calling!
Lack of bluetooth calling has made me come back to Froyo (void.) every time. But I guess Andy and Mik_os won't be far behind now that the sources have been released.
does the kernel from the official sources fixed our multitouch axis inversion and touchbug?
if it is i will keep my phone happily
No checked the axis inversion..new.kernel doesn't fix it

I want to buy a phone for my sister and was thinking about either LG Optimus P500 or HTC Wildfire.
Her main requirements would be a good music player, good camera, browsing the net and using facebook. She is not going to tweak the phone at all. Her son may want to play some games.
My questions are :
1) Which ROM should I use which would be stable and have good music player and camera? Is there a stable official GB ROM available?
2) Which theme would be good (I know it would be a personal choice but still..)
3) What is kernel update? Should I do this?
4) Should I root, deodex, apply CWM, EXT4? How?
I have experiencing in flashing my Samsung i9003 with leaked GB rom, rooting, deodexing, using CWM and backup with Titanium. Probably the process would be similar.
Kindly guide me.
I have asked this same question in HTC Wildfire forum and got a reply that camera is very bad. How is the camera on the LG Optimu P500?

Thanks for the very quick response. However I AM asking all these questions for LG Optimus One P500. For HTC I have posted in their forum.
So can you give me answer to all the above points with reference to P500

Thanks for quick reply. Can you give me link to guides for doing all the above, and in what sequence should these be done?
How is the camera and music player quality? Battery life? Screen quality?
How much is the ROM?
Can I use Go Launcher on this?
Last question, what exactly is kernel change, and do I do this even if I have put CyanogenMod?
Sorry if questions are silly.

Thanks, I think you have convinced me to purchase this phone. Is there any other Android phone you would suggest in similar price range (sorry extending question beyond this forum)?
Samsung Ace and HTC Wildfire S seem better for a bit more price.

Now that I have the phone, I need some help.
Since it is going to be used by someone who is completely non-technical, it needs to be stable but hopefully with latest ROM.
I want to know how to:
1) Root
2) Have CWM
3) Have EXT4
4) Deodex
5) Apply latest stable GB
6) Additional Lockscreens/Extended menu/CRT/Overglow etc
Any other useful addition keeping the phone stable.

I'm trying not to sound like a noob unable to use the search button, but I have been looking for the answer to this and can't find a solid result.
Is there any way to overclock / undervolt on 2.3.4? Or has the source kernel not been released yet?
I am currently running Infected Rom 1.4.2 if that makes any difference, i'd really like some way to overclock and/or undervolt when I please
Thank's to whoever responds without a smart ass comment!
(Unlocked through HTC method w/ cwm recovery.)
Still wondering about this honestly, sorry for the random bump here.
I'd really like to know about this, thank you!
It depends on your kernel. If your running Infected I suggest reading through that thread and seeing what, if any, alternate kernels play nice with that rom. I don't know offhand as I haven't used that rom.

Hi guys
I'm coming to you guys because my wife finally gave me her OK to mod her p500. :-D so i'm am not new to this at all, I have a x10mini and a NEO both running on cm7.
So i just have a few questions just to see if i have understood how LG works. Just that you know this i a huge forum here and i haven't read everything because i dont have time to, so please have mercy for maybe some what noobish questions.
So i already got it rooted and custom recovery running. And did a nand backup.
So now i need to know a few things, which cm7 rom is the most stable and full featured? Since this is my wife's phone almost everything should work.
Is a custom kernel needed? Or can it go with stock.
And do you flash kernels separate with fastboot or is it part of the custom roms, i believe i saw a cm7 rom together with a kernel to be flashed with recovery. An if not which kernel would you guys suggest fitting to the cm7 rom.
I hope that that wasn't too many questions and someone would take the time to awnser them.
Thanks

I would as many others will, recommend Mik-os's Cm7 port... its what ALL the other cm mods are built off for this phone.
The latest stable 6.5.8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
Then as far as a kernel, its up to you, the latest goldenleaf for ultimate battery life. The latest GBS, which is as i like to see it a blend from the ultimate performance of the straight franco kernel and battery life of goldenleaf (made by fserve, same person who makes goldenleaf) Both found here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227682
Or the franco kernel which has the best performance but probably not the best batt life.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049518
This is NOT to say that goldenleaf has crap performance, in fact i prefer it for its battery life and great smooth performance.... gbs and straight franco have a slight edge in synthetic benchmarks but probably not by much.
As far as flashing kernels its just like flashing the rom..... so after you have the rom flashed , reboot once completely, then reboot into recovery, flash the kernel zip just as if it was a rom, reboot out of the recovery, once to the os, reboot completely and your all good to go.
Thank you now i have almost everything i got to know.
what about baseband? as far as i know she has the old baseband. and the 6.5.8 ROM needs the new baseband right? should i do a offical FW update first to get the new baseband? or would i loose root?
i read that you cant flash basebands with recovery, only with fastboot? the fastboot toutouial looks preety complicated.
But also very interesting because you can't flash a kernel with recovery by sony only with fastboot and htc works also different.

No, not right. It uses the old baseband. Of course, you would know that if you had simply read the OP of the dev thread for that ROM, which nd4spdbh linked to.

nono, it's uses the old baseband. The newer kernel is not related to any thing about baseband. A very common misconception here by users.
camera isnt that important she had her birthday last moth and she got a digi cam from me
I'm using CM7 6.5.8 + goldenleaf more than a week. So far, everything works fine. Except - don't know about wi-fi, haven't tried it
Camera isn't that bad at all.
Most important - do all wipes needed before flashing a rom
6.5.8 has the occasional google maps battery drain bug. I just got it few days ago.charged the phone to 100% in the evening and when I woke up 46%. I use maps from time to time so uninstalling it is not an option. all other things are perfect though.

That is a bug with cm7.... itself... not just 6.5.8, it has to do with force closing an app which is using a sensor.... either GPS or Camera, DO NOT FORCE CLOSE an app that uses either of those... as the sensor never gets turned off which causes the batt drain. simply close the app (home button, or short press back button) and turn off gps via the notifications bar.
Run CM7 6.5.8 and the latest goldenleaf, with launcher pro, its the smoothest experience out there on our phones.
Just wanted to let you know that everything went well. I had absolutely no problems. And i am very satisfied.

The only ones I have here are the gbs-testing-noop-lg.zip and gbs-testing-deadline-lg.zip. They were the last .32 kernels I used (they were also the last kernels fserve released before sending his laptop to repair service and then the coming of the revolution "new baseband + .35 kernels"). Summing it up, I used them for about a month, since when they were released until I switched to the Adam's unofficial CM7.2 N1/N2.
Are they of your interest?
----------edit1----------
I did a bit of research to remember why at that time I thought these were the best kernels.
Turns out they're the v20a with the stock touch screen driver (which I think gives a far better experience - and I mean freaking smoothness - than the alternatives). Oh, and both of them are CFS (I had bad times with BFS kernels).
Again, this was only my opinion at that time.
