[Q] Firmware for Flashtool 0.2.6 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im sure somebody probably asked this but i wanted to know what generic firmware is for a north american X10a? Im sure they all work but i would like to use one from north america

I'm in cali I use global generic Rom
Idk if that answers ur question?

Whatever I flashed on my phone works fine, I would just prefer to have a north American firmware, I might be using one I don't know how to check. Also is the reason I can't charge apps from the market to my wireless bill because my phone is debranded?

In general, GLOBAL GENERIC = X10i, non Americas, WORLD GENERIC = X10a, Americas
Check Settings, About Phone, Model Number. If X10a, then Americas.

[Q] Which region do you think will get 2.1 first?

Hey guys, I have a Rogers X10a that I've debranded to the Latin American R2BA026. Just wondering, do you think any of the other regions will get it before this one does? I read somewhere that SE Brazil said the 2.1 update over there would be sometime around the end of October... does this apply to the Generic firmware as well? or is that independent of all this
I looked around and couldn't find any similar thread so I'm posting this
Thanks in advance
I really doesnt matter who gets it first. As soon as its out, somone will upload it and then we will all be enjoying it. No point waiting for your carriers official release cause youll be waiting............ forever. Its coming. People are more excited about this release then my kid is about Xmass or summer vacation!

The X10 is getting updated to 2.1? That's news to me. \end sarcasm
Yeah whoever gets it first which I think is the UK (thought I read that somewhere) will upload it for us.

Anyone in UK got official update yet?

Title says it all.

from the swipe to unlock screen.
press..
Menu back back menu
back menu menu back
it's in there..
The Generic UK update isn't out yet.. but very soon hopefully! (or so SE would have us believe!)
Ah great thanks. Knew about the secret menu but not what it was used for. I am on generic. Is there a way to change it to global and is it worth doing or should I just wait forever for the generic version to pop up? Advice appreciated

Depends how impatient you're feeling!!.. I had absolutely no intention of rooting etc.. but got fed up of the lack of info so I followed the simple upgrade method.. rooted using the one click root app on my phone.. changed the default prop values as per the thread instructions and plugged into SEUS.. bingo.. 2.1...
Rooting the 2.1 was a bit trickier though (want to go to UK Generic when it's out)..
all i get from sony when asked is *******There are still tests which need to be carried out on generic versions to ensure they meet UK laws & regulations.*******
Surely the global version is still subject to UK laws etc if its being used in the UK. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being rooted and does it affect my warranty? Thanks for all the advice really good for a nooby discovering the world of a real OS

Factory reset will only reset current firmware. You need to get the 1.6 flash tool from the development section and install the 1.6 firmware back onto device. REMEMBER use 1.6flash tool not 2.1 flash tool.
If you need links ill try to find them, but best to pm bin4ry

What are the advantages/disadvantages to degrading? Will I lose some of the apps that I have?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
degrading?? Did you mean upgrading? If you did... then yes you will lose everything on the phone - it's like having a new phone.

Unless you use back up and restore app availible from pc comp and if your rooted titanium back up too then you loose nothing atall...

Ok I am on o2 pay monthly but want to keep things like Moliere. In fact only moxier. I think that's the only thing. Don't want to root till warranty is up. But do want to upgrade ASAP. Without having to wait till o2 sort themselves out. Is it possible to take all my apps etc. Backthem up debrand upgrade then reinstall apps without being rooted.
Is that possible or fantasy?

OK which firmware file did you download and use?
OR
In the lock screen (the one where you put your unlock pattern) Press the following Menu Back Back Menu Back Menu Menu Back
Then go to software info and give us the number under the Customization Version (XXXX-XXXX)
Menu = middle button with the box
Back = Button with the arrow.

Looking to trade my X10a for an X10i

Hi,
I have a black X10a in perfect condition, which I bought with Rogers, in Canada. I am now living in the US, and to my dismay, I've found that T-Mobile's 3G network is only functional with the X10i.
If you're with AT&T and find yourself in the inverse situation with your X10i, please let me know, and perhaps we can make a mutually-beneficial trade.
Thanx,
- B
You can simply flash X10i baseband and it should work

I don't think flashing will work. T-Mobile uses different frequencies

He has an x10a though, hence the problem...
Flashing different baseband will NOT work as the hardware is different..
Why not? Isn't baseband changing 3G/WCDMA frequencies?
Hey, if your offer still stands, I have an x10i with At&t. Let me know.

it would only change the theoretical possible basebands for your device... The radio built into your phone would still be different.

unfair

I remember before gb came out all those videos showed x10a models, and now x10a users are the last ones to get it, im very impatient after reading how good gb seems to be on x10
Then why wait? All the tools you need are right here in this forum. You can always change to x10a once it's available.

Just follow this, it's only beneficial as the custom ROM is better than the official anyways and you don't have to wait.

But i was told that its not a good idea to change from x10a to x10i with my carrier, someting about not having the same bands i think, that would make my phone unuseable with any of the 4 carriers here
