Hi,
I have a black X10a in perfect condition, which I bought with Rogers, in Canada. I am now living in the US, and to my dismay, I've found that T-Mobile's 3G network is only functional with the X10i.
If you're with AT&T and find yourself in the inverse situation with your X10i, please let me know, and perhaps we can make a mutually-beneficial trade.
Thanx,
- B
You can simply flash X10i baseband and it should work

I don't think flashing will work. T-Mobile uses different frequencies

He has an x10a though, hence the problem...
Flashing different baseband will NOT work as the hardware is different..
Why not? Isn't baseband changing 3G/WCDMA frequencies?
Hey, if your offer still stands, I have an x10i with At&t. Let me know.

it would only change the theoretical possible basebands for your device... The radio built into your phone would still be different.

Im sure somebody probably asked this but i wanted to know what generic firmware is for a north american X10a? Im sure they all work but i would like to use one from north america
I'm in cali I use global generic Rom
Idk if that answers ur question?

Whatever I flashed on my phone works fine, I would just prefer to have a north American firmware, I might be using one I don't know how to check. Also is the reason I can't charge apps from the market to my wireless bill because my phone is debranded?

In general, GLOBAL GENERIC = X10i, non Americas, WORLD GENERIC = X10a, Americas
Check Settings, About Phone, Model Number. If X10a, then Americas.

Ok, that answered my first question, but does anybody know why I cant charge my wireless bill for apps?

hi guys
with the new baseband, i noticed that these are built for x10is, and from what i gathered the rogers update did not update the baseband?
if so is there any performance gains from moving to .61 or .67 for a x10a like mine?
.54 is working the best so far..
any other Aussie testers out there with feedback??
thanks
I cant even flash the new BB to my X10i but as soon as I do I'll let you know
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
i gave .61 a quick try before, but it doesn't seem to be better than .54
just want to know if ti's just me
I installed 2.1.B.0.1 lastnight with bb .67 on EW's V001 and it gave me nice d/l and u/l speed, (2200kbps/1500kbps) but this morning my data dropped in and out alot.
I flashed .54 and .58 and it wasn't as fast as it normally is (tested for about 1/2 hour) so it might of just been bad weather or heavy traffic.
Went back to .67 and it was the same as .54/.58 so I'll give it a day to see how it goes tonight and tomorrow.
*edit.... anyone know the APN settings for optus, i can't recieve mms
You have pm LJE.
thanks guys for the feedback
keep them coming
especially if there are other fellow x10a users out there
edit:AT&T update soon, good news for x10a
Finally flashed new bb to x10i and can definately feel a difference in battery life, touch screen responsiveness and less lag

yeah i agree....
I stuck with the 2.1.B.0.1 but changed from .67, back to .54
.54 is definitely faster here on the Gold Coast

So are you saying here that the AT&T branded firmware/baseband update would be recommended for Australian X10a users? Or just X10a in general and maybe not for us in Australia?
Cheers.
i think in general
but i do know that AT&T uses the same frequency as Telstra, hence there might be better performance compare to a more x10i centric baseband such as .61 or .67
i haven't had time to do speed test so far
i mainly use .65 now to stay compatible with Trip's ROMs

Well if they use the same frequency them I'd have to say that it would have to be best. (I'm actually on three but they use telstra network so out should be okay!)
Cheers!
I have x10 from virgin, but use 3. Have tried alot of diff.basebands nut .54 is the best. I use trip mui rom, 1.02 and 1.08

I heard that the shared frequently between three and telstra would be switch off next year as a apart of telstra building their 4g network
so yeah ... don't rely on it
Anyways anyone tried. 65? I heard there might be a SMS bug...

Agreed - Cannot send sms.
Going to try .67 next
:EDIT:
So I can sms with .67, but it stuffs up the automatic date/time function somehow.... :S It thinks it's 1/1/2010 @ 11AM :-O
What about performance? When I used it I wasn't very convinced of its performance

I remember before gb came out all those videos showed x10a models, and now x10a users are the last ones to get it, im very impatient after reading how good gb seems to be on x10
Then why wait? All the tools you need are right here in this forum. You can always change to x10a once it's available.

Just follow this, it's only beneficial as the custom ROM is better than the official anyways and you don't have to wait.

But i was told that its not a good idea to change from x10a to x10i with my carrier, someting about not having the same bands i think, that would make my phone unuseable with any of the 4 carriers here

Radios are different, frequency for high speed 3G in the US require SK17A.
Mike
what you say is FW different between the A and I but is dose the SK17A have different HW from the SK17i ?

No, that's not what I said. The hardware, radio that communicates with the cell tower, is different in the two models. Firmware can't change the frequency of the radio.

Without losing the SK17A 3g capabilities?
I was wondering this exact thing yesterday while looking for newer firmware.
Hello all,
I have an x10i which runs on frequencies 900/1700/2100
Am I able to change the frequency to that of an x10a, being 800/850/1900/2100?
My x10i is running unrooted gingerbreaqd.
Yes, I realise that any change would require a rooted phone first and foremost.
Thanks in advance to any helpers!
no because thats hardware related.it is the chip set given to the x10

Only if OP can do perfect solderings...
x10i and x10a runs on different freq. x10i is for rest of the world except USA. x10a is for USA only.
