Confirmed to work, but the Windows app is a resource hog. Tested with a Netbook. Cpu maxed at 100% soon as app opens. I guess make sure you use a real pc or a good laptop.
ooVoo works pretty good too with front camera support for streak. Mobile2pc and mobile2mobile . Free to use no trails. Ill stick with ooVoo until something better comes around.

Your right, the oovoo is best, but what rom are you on,I could only see the rear cam on Dell streak.....not the front facing cam when I was using ooVoo

After I have installed the ooVoo, my Dell Streak started to sync contineously but I do not know what is it sycronizing. Don't you have this problem?

There is a setting to make front camera as default. You can alos change camera during a video call.

Not really sure what you mean. When u logon it will sync your account. Sometimes it freaks out and you may need restart phone. Running stock 318 2.2 with perfmod. Overall best video app for streak. Not hard since only these 2 work.

Just installed Oovoo. Running 318 stock. No issues so far. Front camera worked right away without having to change any settings. I hope they get this working through msn. I doubt my contacts will all jump on Oovoo. This is very cool. Thanks for the tip.

I just wish they made a skype video call app, skype is where its at

[Q] What do you use the camera for?

I am looking for an app that will work for video conferencing/chat. Any suggestions?
Or even better, is there a way to use the gTab and video-chat with friends on other traditional PC-based IM services like Yahoo, Live, AIM or Skype?
If none of these work? What do you use the camera for?
I really have not found a use for it yet.
FYI, I am using Calkulin ROM 1.1 (very stable and good battery life).
Yahoo Messanger for Android has a plugin for video/audio, but the people that i wanted to test with are never available when i was.

My pictures don't come out nearly as decently as this one. They look okay in the shapshot preview, but then when I open the file they are pixelated beyond belief and look awful. I am running CM7. What settings do you have for your camera?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Netflix app round 2

I was able to pull the APK from a coworker. Installed and logged in fine. Video play back starts and everything is played back at high speed. Sounds like chimpmunks. I looked through the apk and don't really see anything that can change playback speed. Anyone think they can fix?
yeah i got chimpmunk sound too.

"chipmunk sound" is misleading. It's not just that the sound is sped up, but the entire playback speed is too high. This has to be a decoding issue.

It could just be that Netflix's mobile servers are being pounded right now. I have a hard time getting in at first, then it didn't want to play something, then did.
No chipmunks here - just a total device crash when trying to play anything. (1.9)

I was able to get clear normal sound out of it. but no video. I am on 351. I am testing it on 3g currently. I will update when i get to my wifi connection to see if it works better then.
im on streakdroid 1.9 baseband 318, 200 pixel density, on 3g or wifi i get no crashes just very fast video and chipmunk sound.
I don't think it is the server. I have tried on my stock ROM on wifi and 3G and same thing happens. It looks like it is going to load the video and shows the text on the bottom then it crashes back to the home netflix screen. I hope someone can find a workaround!

I tried updating and I am unable to do video chat. I then did a reinstall and tried both 3g and wifi and I don't see the video chat option on the settings menu as mentioned by the app. I have an eve 3d with synergy evo 3d mod. Anyone also experiencing any problems?
I tried before I posted, everything worked fine for me. Rooted stock ROM, RCMIX kernel
Not Working for me either.
Did you find a fix for your evo3d? I don't have the option either in Skype even after uninstall and update. Same problem on gf's evo.
I get no video and the person I'm chatting cant see anything.
I was just chatting with my girl friend on skype with the new update. I'm running Vipers 1.2 ROM with TWRP
If your having trouble try uninstalling rebooting and dowmloading skype again.
I'm on the stock ROM, no fix is needed. This works fine for everyone I know. Probably whatever ROM you guys are using.

The video setting doesn't show up in synergy because the base is so modified that the app doesn't recognize it as an EVO 3D. A different ROM will work. I had the same issue.

Yeah I dont know whats up with that but I just hold the phone horizontal to ignore the upside down video chats.
It's definitely irritating that for a company as large as Skype seems to perform no quality control on their software. I mean its not an obscure bug. Immediately upon starting a video call you see the person your talking to standing on their head. One of the main reasons we bought the phone was the convenience for video calls since my wifes family live in Colombia and we are in the states. Also being military ill end up traveling and having a method to see ny family would he nice. Oh well. I'll just hold it upsidedown till they fix it. I thoguht if i bought an android phone I wouldn't suffer from errors caused by holding my phone the wrong way.

How do I stop skype from running?
I did the menu, settings, apps and stop it that way. It then came back the next day with no option to stop it from running. Is it eating battery when it's running in the background? Meaning I can see the skype symbol at the top of the screen.
TIA!

[Q] Video chat with iphone

I'm pretty disappointed with the iphone 4s announcement, because that's what I was going to get my wife. Its very important for her to video chat with her sister and family who lives 10 hours away. I currently have the atrix which never plays nice when it comes to video chat with iphone users, so I want to know if anyone has had success with video chat particularly with iphone users or even Skype?
Thanks.
May not be the same, but I've been able to video chat using my Galaxy Tab 10.1 with an iPad 2 using Google Talk.
Im pretty sure skype should work, as well as tango, and apparently google talk, I really doubt video chatting should be an issue at all

I can confirm all work. You have to make sure you have the newest Skype and enable it
Tango should work too
Skype, Qik, and Tango, tested them all with my wife's iPhone 4.

Fring also works well.
I tested Skype on S2 with iphone 4 and an HP Touchpad, they all work together well.
Better than it did with my Atrix although it did still work with the latest version of skype on the Atrix.
I use skype daily to video chat with my daughter while on the road.
For Skype video calls to work, do the following:
1- Download the latest version.
2- Sign in.
3- Settings
4- Scroll all the way down and you'll see various options... most importantly the option to "Enable video calling"
5- The Skype app might need a restart... so sign off, and sign back in.
Speaking of Skype, I have the latest version but noticed that it drains the battery noticeably (even when not using it). Anyone else is having the same issue?

Skype is best. Gtalk is good too. For Gtalk video, there's an optional flashable zip file of it that has the video-calling enabled version. Works like a charm.

Its usually an optional add-on in the Rom Manager app (like the Gapps zip) that you check off, and it'll flash itself with the rom... but I looked around and found you the .zip file that you can successfully flash yourself. Hopefully it works.

[Q] Skype video on S3?

I cannot get video to work on Skype on my S3. Video is enabled in Skype Settings but still no joy. Has anyone else got this problem or know how to fix it? I can't find any thread about this. This is a deal breaker for me. If Skype doesn't work I will reluctantly return the S3 during my 14-day trial period.
Thanks
Works fine here. Just tested video calling 3G and WiFi with no problems.
Finger trouble or firmware version?
Skype v2.8.0.920
Edit:
The other party (Recipient) must also have video enabled.
You could also lower the video quality and test.
Sent from my GT-I9300T using xda premium
works fine here as well.
Thanks for the replies. Still a mystery. I have the latest firmware and the other party definitely has video enabled. I switched to other devices and it worked fine. The front camera does work but there's no option to select when I make a Skype call (over WiFi). If the other party calls me I can see the options but it still doesn't work and returns to a black screen. Lower-res test done as well but no luck.
I just can't see what's preventing a video call. I can do this quite successfully from my tablet, old phone and desktop but not the S3. I have uninstalled and downloaded the software again but it still doesn't work. Grrrrr!
Try a video call on Gtalk to test. Obviously check video is enabled in its settings for both parties.
If working, try wipe data/cache in settings/applications/downloaded or all/Skype. You well need to setup Skype settings, login etc again.
If still no good, reinstall Skype
Sent from my GT-I9300T using xda premium
I did clear the cache. And one other thing: I can't close Skype. I have to use a Force Stop to quit the application. I've tried this several times and it always remains running unlike any other program I close (eg, swiping to the left from the running programs list). It doesn't show up in the task manager as a running program but the icon is still there on the top left of the phone. I wonder if some other process/application is interfering with it.
It's reassuring that Skype is working for others. I'm on O2 - could they have set up something to prevent Skype working? That's not my experience with other phones from O2 and I doubt that is the problem.
So did you try Gtalk (to confirm the problem is just with the Skype app) and also reinstall fresh from Google Play?..........

Thanks, I'll check them out.
I've got what seems to be a fairly simple problem with Skype, so I thought I'd post here because Skype users are likely to read it ! :
Outgoing voice-only calls seem to work OK, but when I answer an incoming call, the GS3 screen goes completely black (regardless as to whether the phone was by my face or not).
I tried pressing buttons etc, didn't seem to be able to get it back until the caller hung up.
On a plus note, the call quality was great, but I really do need to be able to hang up the call!
Am I missing something obvious?
According to my tests, Skype video works when I'm connected to WiFi but I was never able to do the same under 3G.
I'm on a high bandwidth connection..but the person on the other side keeps saying that the video quality is ****ty. I have the Video Qualty setting on 'High'. The recieving quality is just great. Its only the video sent from my end. Is it the same for everyone? or just me?
