Hello,
I am stuck with a "Phone Symbol..Yellow Triangle with a "!" in the middle..Computer Symbol". Is this a "Hardware Lock" and if so, how do I get out of it. I am able to boot into CWM Red and CWM Green and have tried just about everything to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You are going to have use Odin to restore because it means the firmware is screwed up.

get adrynalyns di01 package and flash it with odin, that gets you back to stock, always works for me. If you can at least get the phone into cw your probably still ok.

Thanks for the reply. That's just it though, I am unable to boot into Download Mode to be able to use Odin. Could it be CWM? No matter what I do it is showing CWM 2.5.1.0. Don't know what to do at this point. Perhaps pull the microSD card, stick it in the computer and put the Stock DI01 file on it and then place it back in to the phone? Please advise.
Have you tried taking the battery out method to get into download mode?
This happened to me, however I pulled the battery, got into clockwork using the 3 buttons. I then reflashed stock eb01 w kernel without wiping, assuming it was ok.bc I already had before the ! Screen. I was back in action in no time

Um, actually, that worked. Got into Download mode and am attempting to go back to stock now. Thanks so much...not actually sure how I did it...just pulled the Battery while the phone was connected to the computer and did the Volumne Down and Power Button thing, I think.

and that's how it's done
So, downloaded the stock file, pulled the battery while plugged into the computer, pressed Volume Down and Power Button to get into Download Mode, did Odin and I'm back. These forums are great! Thanks for all your help.
Same thing happened to me with a messed up eb01 radio update. Just booted into download mode and relflashed my working dj05 radio and booted. Then redid the eb01 radio.

Flash this with the PDA option in Odin. This is good if you want to restore your phone to complete stock without having to reflash the DJ05 modem, etc.
THIS IS FOR THE VERIZON FASCINATE ONLY.
DO NOT FLASH THIS TO ANY OTHER GALAXY S VARIANT
THIS IS NOT ROOTED YOU WILL HAVE TO REROOT AFTER RESTORING THIS. DON'T ASK IF IT IS ROOTED BECAUSE IT ISN'T.
Also, DO NOT flash this if you are going to bring your phone to Verizon for repairs/exchanges as Verizon hasn't released DJ05
If you want to bring your phone into Verizon due to warranty purposes go to this thread and flash DI01 instead.
Just like Adrynalyne's DI01 Odin package this flashes:
Modem
Kernel
System
Recovery
Formats:
Cache
Data
DBData
Remeber!! Use this at your own risk! I am not responsible if you brick your phone by flashing this to the wrong phone or power loss or any interruption to the flashing!!
EDIT: Apparently my hosting sucks. and so does my upload speed, so i blame that for there being problems with the download. Sorry again! New link should work. Uploaded to megaupload.
EDIT2: Apparently since people don't like to read. This will not give you root and this will put on unrooted factory DJ05. You will lose all of your data as well.
is it normal for odin to kinda "stall" when it saids "SetupConnection"? i haven't seen odin do anything for a few minutes now.
DJ05
Just says fail on start. No Md5 at end of file?
Will redownload and try again.

How long did it take to complete?
took me about 5 minutes to download, i think theres something wrong with the hosted file. because when you save it it doesnt tell you the size the of the file either.. it just downloads and completes at 202mb/windows reports it at 212mb i still havent had it install correctly. and i had to go back to the DI01 cause i did get the phone to PC icon after the unsuccessful flash.
I downloaded the file and it completed at 341MB. Looking at the files I had for DI01 (not the full package, 4 different files) that looks to be about correct as total those files add up to ~330MB.
im not sure what my issue is then. ive redownloaded it 4 times on my laptop, tried twice on my desktop and one more time on the gf's laptop. and they all stop at the 202mb file.
Sorry!
Hey guys.
I see that you guys are having issues with downloading it. I'll try and upload it somewhere else as soon as possible.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
No worries man thanks!!
do i have to re root after this
Yes you have to reroot. This is unrooted DJ05.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
What are the advantages of flashing this package?
So that if you mess up and need to odin to restore everything, you don't have to odin DI01 and then reodin the DJ05 modem. it's DJ05 all in one. all you have to do is flash a recovery clean rom and kernel of choice.
hey, is this rooted?
lol. sorry. i couldnt resist.
i will give it a try and post how she runs.
thanks.
it runs pretty well, for stock. i beleive it does run better than di01, which is to be expected. but im getting rid of it, i cant stand stock! but a very useful tool, concidering the number of times i brick my phone in a week.
thank you.

You shouldn't have lost haptic. It uses a DJ05 kernel. Try flashing stock DI01 and see if you get it back

Disclaimer: I've done a lot of reading already, but I want to double check my steps. Thanks for bearing with me.
I'm running Bionix 1.3.1 and I want to reinstall it (and flash the latest overstock kernel) but I want to start from scratch and kill all the ghosts first because I have some weird things happening with my phone.
So, is this a good process?
- Back up apps with Titanium
- Make Nandroid in CWR
- Back up SMS/MMS
- Disable Voodoo
- Odin3 v1.0 to Eugene's Froyo (Do I need to wipe data/reset and wipe cache partition first?)
- Reboot
- Flash Bionix 1.3.1 in CWR
- Wipe data/reset and wipe cache partition
- Wipe battery stats (from 100% charged of course)
- Reboot
- Flash latest Overstock (Do I need to turn off Voodoo first?)
- Reboot
Did I miss anything or get anything out of order?
Any feedback is MUCH appreciated. I've Odin'd before, but I've never gone this route before. Brick fear is in full affect.
Anytime I want to clear any ghosts out this is exactly what I do.
- download and place said ROM into internal sd
- make sure you have the cwm update.zip in your internal (which you should if you've flashed it before via ROM manager)
- do a titanium backup
- odin back to JFD, with repartition checked
---- I use ODIN 1.7 with a 512 PIT file
---- the repartition is what's important here, it will clear out anything, including voodoo. So technically, you don't have to disable it.
-once it's done and you're booted up into 2.1, reboot into recovery
- reinstall packages, it will reboot back into 2e recovery, reinstall pacakges again
- at this point you're in CWM and free to flash anything you like
I don't usually bother with resetting battery stats because I flash at least once a day it feels like, but mine tends to be pretty accurate anyhow (maybe because I'm always on power when flashing? dunno, not questioning it!)
I already have Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo.tar.md5 downloaded, but for some reason I'm having trouble finding a link to JFD...
Also, what is 2e recovery?

I suppose you could use Eugene's.
Ok, you see how he has 2E in the name? He's already replaced it for you, so technically you could just use that one.
With Froyo the stock recovery is 3e, which is not capable of flashing the CWM zip as easily as the Eclair (2e) recovery. When you boot into it, just look at the top, it will say which version it is.

Boo, I also just realized that I might've used the wrong version of Odin.
That Eugene file is what I suggest/link to in the noob guide, and what I use when I go back to stock. Go to the development section stickies for stock jfd if that's what you want/need.
That error sounds like odin issues, so yeah, guessing an older version. I have the newest version in the noob guide.

When restoring through Titanium, which one do I pick?
Restore all apps with data?
EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out.
First off, I apologize if this is a duplicate post. I really and truly searched and found no posts with the same issue that I am having.
I started by rooting my Fascinate a few months ago with the intention of flashing 2.2 on it. Well, I never did. Now, the OTA update fails every time. So, I try to go back to stock by following the instructions here:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...axy-s-gt-i9000-to-android-2-2-froyo-download/
Well, everything seemed to go fine, Odin passed and so on. I only follow the instructions to return to stock 2.1. I figured the OTA update for 2.2 would be fine from there. And if not, I would continue with flashing a custom ROM. Well, when I tried to reboot the phone I get a black screen with white letters that read "GALAXY S" across the top, GT-I9000 uder that and "SAMSUNG" at the bottom.
I have tried following through all of the steps at the above link and get the same results. I have tried flashing EB01DB_DXC and I just get a blank screen. I can still get in to download mode so I don't think this is a complete loss. I am running out of things to try.
Thanks for your help.
Well, you've just odined whole another world to your phone.
Fascinate is not i9000. i9000 is international version.
You can odin back to DI01.

If someone could review the instructions in the link I provided and give me step by step instructions I would appreciate it. Also, as long as I am up to my elbows in this phone I think I may as well customize it. Any stable 2.2 ROMs you can recommend?

+1. But since you look new to here, let me helo you out a bit. Google "di01 full xda" and "atlas pit" download both of them. Now to fun part. Put di01 tar file in PDA(NEVER in phone) and put Atlas in Pit. Then flash it. Onc ev you are done, update to latest ED03 just for radio via OTA. So what you're going to want to do is get up to ED03 via OTA. After that, boot into download mode and flash this
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36791/CWM3_Voodoo.tar.md5
with odin.
Immediately after it completes, boot into recovery with the three button method, and then flash comm rom 1.3
If you don't flash a new kernel, the stock one will overwrite recovery giving you back the blue Samsung 2e recovery.
I am not sure how I can get EDO3 version OTA when the phone won't boot. Can I flash it with Odin? At this point I would just like to get the phone working, but Super clean looks good.
I tried formatting the SD card and putting only the update.zip file on the card, but I still can't apply sdcard:update.zip when I get to recovery. When I flash the "red" clockwork and select the menu options by pressing the home button I get a black screen. If I press the home screen again it brings me back to the menu. I have tried all of the options and the same thing happens. I have followed the directions on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053567
But, I get stuck on step 11, because I can't get it to apply sdcard:update.zip.
You don't need to mess with update.zip. The instructions you're following will work, but it's a bit dated...
Like I said before, follow the "unbrick your phone..." thread op. Like times_infinity suggested, you could flash dl09 instead of di01, but it doesn't really matter since either will get overwritten by the ota update after your first boot...
Likewise, the ota process(es) will put an update.zip in place and use it to get you to ed03 .
You can do it, man, I know you can!

Well if that's the case, then just follow this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044474
make sure you're complete stock DL09 including stock recovery. make your way up to ED01 with the files provided there, and then flash CWM with ODIN and then flash rom of choice from recovery.
I made it all the way through and thought I was home free, but after installing super clean the phone reboots to recovery. In fact, it always boots to recovery. Either stock recovery or the ROM that I flash. I have not been able to reboot the phone since I started this.
Was stuck on dl01 with voodoo, bloatware frozen, rooted, and using launcherpro.
I followed the first link in that sticky: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908451
and now my phone wont boot up. when I turn it on I see the samsung logo and then it goes through this:

I dont get that, I get "unknown device" My computer is 6 years old and i have always had problems with the usb recognizing my fascinate. It always says some type of problem and when i troubleshoot it says no drivers are installed even though i have installed them.
2)when I select the unknown device and hit install drivers i get installing drivers failed.
If you can get odin to work again use atlas_v2.2.pit to format back to rfs file-system. Use the PIT button in odin.

Definitely try to Odin the Pit 2.2 that DMT suggested.
Here's a link to a giude that should help get you back to stock as it isn't as intimidating for some as the un-bricking one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124391
And if that fails might I suggest trying it on a more up to date PC, maybe your issues have come from that if your pc never recognized the phone properly.
Nnneeeedd heellp nowwww!!!!!!!!!!
Go to the development stickies and go to the 2 one...how to go from
Cm7 to anything else...that's not the official title but it its something like that. The links for the eb01. tar, the atlas 2.2pit and newer odin versions are all in the first post.
I use odin 1.7..which version are you on? I'm sure if you use odin 1.7 or newer and put the 2.2 atlas pit file in the pit section with repartition checked and put the official vzw eb01 .tar in the pda section and run it..that will get your phone back in stock unrooted bloated form but at least your phone will work and then you can go and flash what you like..but I would try a different odin version and the eb01 with the pit file and you will get your phone back

Are you willing to just go back to stock or start all over again?
Put the phone in Download mode
Remove battery
plug usb into PC
plug usb into phone [battery still out]
push [and hold] volume button down
Should see yellow triangle [once you see this you can let go off the volume]
Use Odin then to flash the Stock image to your phone.
Link to ODIN v1.3 http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?r5izui8a3trpo85
Download the ED01 stock rom
Put it into the PDA section of Odin and flash and Boom Back to stock!
Stock ED01 http://www.multiupload.com/6ET46L1ATD
Nothing will be deleted off of your sd card

Well I got the drivers installed and i was on to step 5 but heimdall.exe wont open.
I think I will just do it this way i guess. this is all because of stupid voodoo
Voodoo used to be a p.i.t.a but it really isn't that hard now with the newer cwm supporting both voodoo and non voodoo, the steps myself and the person who posted above me are describing direction for odin..not heimdall.I don't know much about heimdall or how to use it but you can get your phone back and working using odin
Use the link in junkboy0's reply..follow the directions in the first post.

what should i do about voodoo though?
i am going to do this as two of you have suggested:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124391
but i dunno about voodoo. just ignore it for now? It addresses it in that post but i dont undestand what it is saying
using Odin and the stock image it will over write the voodoo
I have never used the heimdall way. I have been stuck in boot loops many times and ODIN has always saved the day!
As long as you can get to Download mode your phone can be fixed

Yup ignore voodoo for now...when you use the atlas2.2 file in the pit section and the eb01.tar in the pda section...if repartition isn't checked make sure you check it...run it and it will bring you to stock with voodoo removed and then you can flash whatever you wanted from there...if you get stuck,p.m.me and I'll send you files with complete directions but it would have to wait till I get home from work tonight..don't panic we'll get you up and running again!
Get the newest odin, eb01. tar, and atlas 2.2pit file, and I would grab
One of the newer recovery.tar files too so when your back to stock you can flash a working recovery if you want to flash some rom after all is fixed....i recommend the 3-30 fix all recovery, but just make sure you get a tar file so you can odin it after your phone is fixed.

interesting.
in the q/a section there is a sticky on how to go stock. not only does it not tell me how to address voodoo(why i am here) but it tells me to go to DL09 and them OTA to eb01.
the method you guys are posting seems much more logical. it sends me strait to froyo and doesnt brick my phone because it just overwrites voodoo. correct?
once voodoo is "overwritten", is it gone off my phone? if not, should i address it at all after this tutorial? froyo is downloading right now

Correct voodoo will be gone but you can just flash another voodoo kernel later and you can flash voodoo over voodoo just not voodoo to non voodoo with out removing it

okay. I am just following what that tutorial says to do. I dont even know what a working recovery is. I never even had a rom on this thing. I have realized I am in way over my head here and have spent too much time dealing with my phone.
really all i want is to be up to date, have root, debinged/bloat, launcherpro so i dont have to use stupid touchwiz. thats basically all i need. maybe in the future i might get other stuff. but for now i think it will suit me best to just rely on verizon/samsung to keep my phone up to date and then just re root everytime. seems much simpler and safer

Recovery..clock work mod...or cwm is the recovery program you will use to install custom rom, kernels, or zip files...I will send you a p.m.later with files, info, and instructions and you can read over it and decide if you want to do it now or wait till you're a lil more familiar with the process..but for now odin the pit atlas 2.2 file and eb01 and you will be stock and be able to use launcher pro.

Ok so last night my phone froze up while I was browsing the web (it froze just after rotating, if that's of any significance) so I held the power button down until it turned off. Trying to turn it on again, it just sat at the galaxy s 2 logo before any bootanimations etc start playing.
I thought I'd try to just re-flash the ROM (CM10 nightly 26/9/2012) and it seemed to just freeze up near the end of the flash, so I left it to do it's thing.
When I returned to the phone, it was showing me a kernel panic screen, so I held the power button to turn it off again and since then it won't boot into the ROM, it won't boot into recovery, and until just now it wouldn't be recognised by odin in download mode.
I had tried installing the USB drivers for the phone etc and it wouldn't work, however while writing this topic I just got a notification on my PC saying USB drivers had been installed and Odin seemed to recognise my phone, so I tried flashing cm9 resurrection, however it seems to be stuck. These are the messages in Odin, for reference:
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> cm-9-20120420-ODIN-galaxys2.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..

<ID:0/003> File analysis..
<ID:0/003> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/003> Initialzation..
<ID:0/003> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/003> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/003> zImage
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
and it's just been stuck there since I pressed start. There is no progress bar or anything on the phone either. Oh, and Odin's progress bar thing at the top just says "KERNEL" with a blank bar under it and "0:[com3]" with a yellow background below that.
Is it safe to unplug the phone and try again with a different USB cable?
EDIT: After trying different methods to recover it (with the same result from Odin):

Yes I have done it before. You just won't have a ROM on your device. Just put it back into download mode and try the kernel first before ROM.

Just tried this, getting the same thing, Odin gets the first "bar" in the progress bar completed and seems to get stuck. Same output as above.
When the first bar completes that (from what I remember) is just Odin unpacking the files to flash to device. Once it does that it checks that its on there properly which is by comparing md5, then it send a command to run the kernel.
Seems like your phone is unable to do even that.
You will have to consult someone with some more knowledge about this than me. You could have a corrupt data partition... but its honestly out of my league now lol. Sorry I couldn't help.

According to the output it gives me (in the OP) it does successfully check the MD5 though.
I'll admit, I haven't actually used Odin since I first rooted this phone (back in december last year) so I'm back to knowing basically nothing about how it works.
Yes it does confirm the md5
But after that it sends the commands to start running the new kernel (basically installing it on the device firstly)
Which is where it gets stuck.

Just tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458
Same issue with flashing those files.
I don't want to try the .pit because if it doesn't flash then I'll be pretty f*cked, right?
I would try what ever else you could find because if you get that guide wrong you could end up turning your phone into a paperweight. But if you so have to use the guide take note that you ahould try flashing the files WITHOUT .pit or repartition first. If that doesn't succeed than your last option is to use the .pit file and repartition.
Sent from Jelly Fuelled SGS2
I did try it, without the .pit/repartition as the guide says to try it without it first, but again, it won't flash anything (which is why I don't think I'll try the .pit/repartition)
