I am running the "Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.7 CWR for eMMC". I tried Honeycomb on the SD card but it was too slow and didn't want to flash my internal memory with Honeycomb until GA. Most of the applications work quite well. A few don't.
One application that I really want to get working is the Sirius/XM app. I know that many devices have issues with this app. Someone on the "Slatedroid forums" implies that it is related to the Android_ID but this unit (OS) does have a valid Android_ID (although "SIM SERIAL, DEVICE ID and SUBSCRIBER ID are all "null".
Anyway, I am stuck at the infamous "Checking for Updates" screen after attempting to login.
Has anyone gotten past this screen using the Sirius app on the Nook Color running any mod?
Thanks in advance,
JR
I have had the same problem. I cant remember but I think the only time XM worked for me was on the Nook 1.01 software. I havent gotten it to work either. I would love to hear of a workaround as well.
Anyone? There has to be a way to get this working.
I don't supposed changing the "media.stagefright.enable-player" to false in the build.props file would address the "checking for updates". I read a lot about this for issues with streaming issues with the Sirius app when Froyo was just released.
Anyone got this to work?
I finally found the 1.1 version as it was hidden in the market.. but now that it's installed I'm stuck on the "checking for updates" as well
Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965301
Edit: Sorry I misread. You're on Froyo. Please disregard post.
I don't think this specific problem is limited to Froyo. The thread you highlighted is more about a program closing. That's not what's happening with the Sirius app.
Specially, I'm seeing this on GTab's Vegan Gingerbread ROM myself.
Just to followup on my own reply.. I was wrong
racks11479 solution worked great for me -- or atleast pointed me in the right direction. After patching the framework.jar file found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955847 My Sirius app started up and is currently running 100%
Note I'm running Vegan Gingerbread (which is based off of CM7)..
Not everything is working - for example the USA Today still closes after launch.

Glad it worked somewhat for your device. Cause I have USA Today on my nook CM7 v3 with my patched framework and it launches fine.
Yeah I don't have a nook (I landed here doing a Sirius search) I have the Viewsonic G-Tablet ..
And I got the USA Today to work, I just needed a newer version. I can't get the latest one from the market as it doesn't show up, but I got a newer one than I had and it loaded up and works great now!

Awesome. Yeah it seems that alot of apps will FC due to the CM7 ROM reporting our IMEI/AndroidID as null. And some apps are reliant on it to function properly.

when I get enough posts to allow me to post in the development section ... ... I'll post something in that thread to see about getting this patch integrated into the ROM to make life easier.
Just a heads up. But the CM7 team is fully aware of the issue an is working on getting a permanent fix to the issue so we won't need this workaround anymore.
Is this ever going to be patched? I just upgraded to the latest cm7 stable, and I still have to patch manually

Ok guys need some help understanding my problem and seeing if it is possible to fix.
I recently bought spectral souls from the market and love the game. The thing is it won't run on the froyo build only HC and eclair. I'm sure it is a security issue as it boots, downloads data runs initial movie, then craps to home. There is a security check at the point it craps out so I know that must be where it's catching.
So my question is why is it only happening to this version of the os? It wouldn't matter if HC weren't laggy in the 2d department and it didn't have flash, but because of that I really want this to work with froyo... Can someone help so I can have both my favorite android game and favorite os?
Thanks,
Adan

bump. I too would like to know this and wonder if there is anything that can be done about it. That is the only thing I want my Nook to be able to do that it cannot
This is a guess but I think it has to do with the IMEI not being present and HC and CM7 have worked around this issue.

Confirming playability on CM7. Really hope the developer adds official support for our devices.
For those unaware, the OP started another thread that contains the reason why it doesn't work on NC Froyo here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11898411&postcount=1
Has anyone tried using the free app MarketAccess app from here? - http://amip.tools-for.net/wiki/android/marketaccess
So I made some headway.....
Allright,
I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that I was able to find a unmodified framework.jar file... (at least I think it was) and the game still force closes right after it plays the intro movie. I think this means it isn't a problem with the IMEI ID. In fact I think the problem lies with a command being used to start the secondary program engine used to play the game itself after it plays the movie.
This leads me to wondering if there isn't a command that isn't being properly executed in Nookie Froyo that does in fact work with both HC and Eclair, the point to remember here is that the command most likely is coming from Eclair as the current HC builds are all built off of Eclair so I would assume much of the command structure is the same.
The question is who knows enough about android programs to grab a data dump and test this issue? I know how to crash the program, but getting the dump and then passing it on to a knowledgeable programer is the issue. Does anyone have any contacts or feel comfortable with their knowledge to try and debug this?
P.S. I will be getting back in contact with Hyperdevbox and seeing if I can get more help from them now that this looks like it isn't a security issue.
Thanks,
Adan
Keep us updated. I really want to play spectral souls on my froyo
So wait it does, or doesn't work on CM7?
Update to 1.1.0 auto nooted and itll fix. 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 auto nooting processes give a framework file that auto generates IMEIs randomly, and hasn't been fixed yet.
But that framework only works for eclair it honeycomb not froyo... And for those of us running our mods off a sd card....
Thanks though,
Adan

Still, check your IMEI with a utility from the market. if your IMEI changes constantly, spectral souls won't work. I know that upgrading the NC to 1.1.0 and applying the auto nooter 3.0.0 stock rom worked for me and others
If Market doesn't need an IMEI to work (and I'm starting to think it doesn't), that part can just be ripped out and it can probably fix that issue.
i just noticed that the "My Apps" button in the market now looks like a phone and says "sprint"
If i click on it it doesn't take me to my apps.
Anyone else having this problem?
That's normal for this build. If you click on your Menu, you'll find My Apps there.
Thanks you were right

I'm really enjoying this ROM. The speed of the machine is phenomenal.
Love the Rom ad well but can't seem to get the market updated or to show all apps. Any thoughts?
I've tried market enabled to no avail.
Issue with ROM or with G-Tab?
I've noticed that if I let the g-tab go to sleep, I'm having to reboot it get it to wake up.
Is anyone else having this issue? I've had my tablet since x-mas, but have nto used it much. It sat in a desk drawer for about 2 months, and I'm just now getting into using it.

I have this issue with every rom ive tried on my gtab. So now I pretty much just install clem's kernel everytime. Plus it gives me CIFS so I can stream media from my windows pc .

Yeah, again it's just the build. There are a ton of hacks that will get you more of the market, but I doubt you'll ever get "everything". Considering that the GTab wasn't blessed by Google, we're lucky to have the devs here to get the market at all.

Another issue with this ROM. Some have fixed it by going to Clemsyn's kernel, others to Pershoot's and still others by using CPU Master Free. Personally, I just set my tab's Screen Timeout to Never. What can I say...I like simple.

I agree. The only problems I see with it are no news and weather widget like on tnt, and the horrible photo album (I think it's from stock?)
Fireware
This may be a stupid question, so I am sorry if it is, but Calkulins v1.1 says it is "Based on rooted 2.2 / FRF91 - TnT 3991"...
so can you run it on the 1.1-3588 firmware, or will that brick?
Again, sorry for my ignorance...
Thanks!
ROM's and Firmware are the same thing. If you're asking whether you can use ClockworkMod or standard recovery, the answer is yes. Calkulin's ROM is a hybrid using the newer 3991 build for features but the older bootloader and recovery. It shouldn't cause you any trouble loading it over 3588.
Thanks! Sorry, I confused the firmware with bootloader, thanks for straightening that out!
No problem. Just want to make sure that I understand the question correctly. Happy modding!
All Done!
Woot!! I will say, I bought this on the woot! deal... and although I consider myself very computer savvy, I have never rooted/hijacked/whatever a device before...
Happily this was super easy! I wanted use the stock ROM for a bit to get familiar with it, but I just couldn't stand how slow/unresponsive/just crappy it was!!
So I jumped the gun and started in... luckily I did a lot of reading first!!
Loaded up Clockworkmod - and made a backup first!! lol
Used clockworkmod to install Calkulins ROM---OMG is it fast!!
The found that I was having the sleep-death issue... so I loaded up Clemsyns Kernel Too!!
Not a single hiccup! Even for a noob- this is super easy! Just follow all the great advice on the XDA forums (and don't skip steps!) and you can't screw it up.
Thanks to all the great people on here, for the hard work, and patience... I love seen good communities like this!
DeadEnd
Which version of Clemsyns is recommended?
Hi,
clakulins ROM is my prefered ROM so far
But, it needs some issues to be addressed to make it my daily driver.
1- sleep-to-death
I know we can use another kernel to fix this (so I keep this fix for later if everything else can work)
2- Settings/Family accounts/add member
This FC every single time. I definitly need this functionality. My Gtab being a family device....
3- Photos is horrible as previosuly pointed out in this thread. I want a centralized place for all my photos, or at least for local storage + picasa. With this gallery, we can only access picasa public albums. What about my own account !!!
4- Photos started to display pictures roatated one quarter to the left. It doesnt let me re-rotate them back to original. It does that for evey single picture, i cant fix this. Photos is now unusable
I tried a few Photos gallery apps from the market (6-7 so far). None of them works to my liking.
I just want somethings simple that get access to all my pics.
5- Cant play videos anymore. Not even the sample 'car' and 'king kong' that came with the Gtab.
If I can fix all of the above, calkulin will be my only and permanent ROM.
(ps items 4 and 5 were previously working ok in this ROM, this started yesterday)
Also, another things that is on my whish list:
- Have bluetooth HID
I have this blutooth keyboard collecting dust on the used parts shelve that I would like to use with the Gtab
thank you calkulin for all,
So, I decided to install clemsyn kernel to fix this sleep-death problem.
No problem installing, everything went well.
But now instead of comlaining that it cant play videos, it just FC on every videos I try to play.
I feel a complete reinstall will be necessary.

I didn't like the little notification toggle issues on IX so went back to VIII and now Netflix is saying there is a newer version that it must be updated to in order to work. The one that came with the Rom is the no device check, so I uninstalled and tried the other to at no avail!?
Do we have to mess with the build prob a bit to think our tbolt is a different device? I know when I did that, Netflix actually showed up in the market! So I'm guessing this may work... Any ideas? Thanks!

Wtf! Anyone else having Netflix issues?

when I tried to rip the Apk from my Inc it was titled com.netflix.mediaclient-1.apk
it didn't work on my TB running bamf2.0beta5. I did get com.Netflix.mediaclient-2.API from another thread in the general section and it works fine.
It might be the emulation of the Inc that is getting you an incompatible apk from the market.
Anyone try the new 1.5 version of Netflix now available in the market? I installed it twice, once from within version 1.4.1 when it prompted me to update to a new version, and again fresh after uninstalling version 1.4.1. In both cases, with new version I can hear audio, but it does not display video. Anyone else having this problem? New version states that it supports Android 2.2, 2.3, and 3.x in the USA, Canada, and Latin America.
Same, I guess we'll have to revert to last working version...

+1 - Same issue here. I think it's an epidemic.
Damn Netflix... Every time they get the product working halfway decent, they do something to screw it all up again. I'd think with their myriad of public relation issues at the moment, they'd be more careful not to screw things up, but there's me thinking again....
On my Nook it won't even complete loading the new version.
I reverted to the previous which works GREAT.
I just got my Nook Color (version 1.2 out of the box) and I'm trying to root it and play me some Netflix.
I followed the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987735 and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054027 and as far as I know I"m rooted properly. Where it says to 'follow on-screen directions' it included removing my SD card, so everythings been running smoothly without the SD card in, though as part of my work to get Netflix running, when I insert the SD card it now says its corrupted/invalid/whatever and needs to be formatted =\
After getting it rooted, I followed the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOZFBqiUvUI and managed to download both apps from the market with no problem (they were in the app list, didn't have to 'backdoor' by a link to the apk). But Netflis just stays at the red splash screen with the spinning circle, not doin' nothin'. Furthermore, it now says my SD card I used to install CWM et al. is invalid and needs to be reformatted.
I tried downloading a Netflix .apk from...a link somewhere (can't find it in my history T_T), and my Colordroid says it wants to open it with either APp Installer (which seems to do nothing) or the Package Installer (Whcih says it's not a valid package). Where'd I go wrong? I want to uninstall the Netflix App I already have installed, but I can't seem to find my way to that screen.
Thanks for the heads up, I won't be updating, as it is asking me to do....don't fix what ain't broke...
I got it going on my end. I had to format my SD card so it was usable, then use the ES File Explorer to a) copy the APK from SD card to /system/apps, then b) use ES File Explorer to also install the app. No other 'install this app' method seems to work. One series of clicks I triewd produced a "Your Phone is set to not allow installs outside of google market" or whatever, even though I set that to be allowed in NookColor Tools, but I got it goin' fine now.
In the end, it's what I thought it was to begin with -- user ignorance. Though having multiple threads saying "New versio Netflix works, no hax!" and then the new version of Netflix actually not working because of Netflix'...poor design...wasn't helping me. XD
Same here. Reverting back to the older version, my son is flipping out because there's no picture, he's 3.
same here..Excellent job, Netflix
The issue appears to be fixed in the new 1.5.1 update from Netflix.
Also, there is no rotation lock imposed (no more need for hacking).

You do have to uninstall the hacked version, if you used it (the error message should be different, though).

Hmm.. I had the market version and uninstalled it. I wonder if the culprit in this scenario isn't Chainfire 3d messing with the market... Now I'm starting to wonder if I should remove it and roll back my market, or if it's reading the screen density again (160 atm). Either way, it installed straight from the market the first time, now it's giving me crap - I may just send it from my phone.

Although you know what? The market should open itself unless there's a PURPOSE. Screw them... If it's not a compatibility issue with the GPU or an actual incompatibility with the Android version then allow us to grab it from the market. If it's free anyhow, WTH are they doing blocking it from us?
Sorry, that's my rant... Google and their blocking crap has been getting on my nerves lately. Their new approach to fragmented market availability based on individual devices is exactly the reason we all stay away from Apple... We hate walled gardens, so Google creates 50+ of them?
I don't think so...

The last thing on earth I'd do is join those people, but saying that, isn't a walled garden for keeping you in and filtering what can get to you? How is the latest implementation of the market not a compilation of several fragmented gardens? We in these communities fight and hack our way to get software that runs perfectly on our devices anyhow. But I digress ... I pushed the apk from my phone.
I guess it's not a garden per se because they aren't locking us into Google products, but their mini-ecosystem designed to keep people in boxes feels like a walled garden... Tell me you wouldn't enjoy a more open market limited only by firmware revision and GPU?

Anyone else having issues with the new Google Play Market? Literally every app I open up reads as incompatible with my device. Is this the case for anyone else? I'm currently on Vegan Froyo... is this just an issue for this ROM, or is it with all roms? Personally its becoming incredibly frustrating; many of my existing apps don't update, I'm forced to scour the dark ends of the internet for apks of paid apps I already own.
I tried the Market fix.. but that seems to have made issues worse. Any hope??

What apps fail? Give some examples so that others can
tell you if they work on their Vegan Froyo. Apparently
tapatalk works for you .
What is "ro.product.device=" in your /system/build.prop ?
A bad value/corruption there can cause incompatible messages.
I am on TNT Lite, which a Froyo distribution, and Google Play
works without any problems.
This is when an old CWM backup might have helped. Do you have any around?
My latest magic bullet for Froyo is "Fix Permissions" from CWM.
Give it a shot if all else fails.

I also am having a ton of issues with the new and "improved" google experience... the playstore will not load at all on my gtablet. I am running gtabcombover and really like the ROM... it was flawless until the market went stupid on us.
as soon as i try to open the app, i get the "accept" button but before I can even push it, the thing FC's and no matter what I cant make it even initialize. I am really hoping there is a painless and simple fix for this mess. And even more hoping that google hasnt completely cut all rooted devices out of the loop!
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
I'm having the same problem as the OP, except I'm using Roebeet's TnT Lite Froyo ROM. I've also tried the Market fix with no luck. Any ideas for solving the problem would be appreciated.
Every app that needs to be updated comes back with a "incompatible with your device" error. Market fix didn't make things worse for me, just didn't help much. I'll have more time for experimenting over the weekend, and, will post if I find an answer. Hopefully it's not due to Google Play seeing it as being a rooted device.
It's probably not because the device is rooted. I am running G-harmony and play works fine for me.
Google Market updated itself to the Google Play store without any problem on both VEGAn-TAB 7.1 and GtabCombOver 3.4.2. I was also able to update all of my apps as usual.
I'm using cm7 rc1 and market is hosed. I have tons of paid apps that are "incompatible" and wont update. I tried build.prop edits but nothing is working. If VeganTAB 7 is working I may switch back to it. Was using beastys rom and Google play made it so half my apps wouldn't update that's why I tried cm7.
Update:
VeganTAB 7 works great with Google play and all my apps updated.
