I am running the "Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.7 CWR for eMMC". I tried Honeycomb on the SD card but it was too slow and didn't want to flash my internal memory with Honeycomb until GA. Most of the applications work quite well. A few don't.
One application that I really want to get working is the Sirius/XM app. I know that many devices have issues with this app. Someone on the "Slatedroid forums" implies that it is related to the Android_ID but this unit (OS) does have a valid Android_ID (although "SIM SERIAL, DEVICE ID and SUBSCRIBER ID are all "null".
Anyway, I am stuck at the infamous "Checking for Updates" screen after attempting to login.
Has anyone gotten past this screen using the Sirius app on the Nook Color running any mod?
Thanks in advance,
JR
I have had the same problem. I cant remember but I think the only time XM worked for me was on the Nook 1.01 software. I havent gotten it to work either. I would love to hear of a workaround as well.
Anyone? There has to be a way to get this working.
I don't supposed changing the "media.stagefright.enable-player" to false in the build.props file would address the "checking for updates". I read a lot about this for issues with streaming issues with the Sirius app when Froyo was just released.
Anyone got this to work?
I finally found the 1.1 version as it was hidden in the market.. but now that it's installed I'm stuck on the "checking for updates" as well
Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965301
Edit: Sorry I misread. You're on Froyo. Please disregard post.
I don't think this specific problem is limited to Froyo. The thread you highlighted is more about a program closing. That's not what's happening with the Sirius app.
Specially, I'm seeing this on GTab's Vegan Gingerbread ROM myself.
Just to followup on my own reply.. I was wrong
racks11479 solution worked great for me -- or atleast pointed me in the right direction. After patching the framework.jar file found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955847 My Sirius app started up and is currently running 100%
Note I'm running Vegan Gingerbread (which is based off of CM7)..
Not everything is working - for example the USA Today still closes after launch.

Glad it worked somewhat for your device. Cause I have USA Today on my nook CM7 v3 with my patched framework and it launches fine.
Yeah I don't have a nook (I landed here doing a Sirius search) I have the Viewsonic G-Tablet ..
And I got the USA Today to work, I just needed a newer version. I can't get the latest one from the market as it doesn't show up, but I got a newer one than I had and it loaded up and works great now!

Awesome. Yeah it seems that alot of apps will FC due to the CM7 ROM reporting our IMEI/AndroidID as null. And some apps are reliant on it to function properly.

when I get enough posts to allow me to post in the development section ... ... I'll post something in that thread to see about getting this patch integrated into the ROM to make life easier.
Just a heads up. But the CM7 team is fully aware of the issue an is working on getting a permanent fix to the issue so we won't need this workaround anymore.
Is this ever going to be patched? I just upgraded to the latest cm7 stable, and I still have to patch manually
I rooted my Nook a couple weeks ago, but I did not debloat. However, when a notification to update Netflix came up, I think I did the update. Now, the sound is not quite in sync with the picture. Is there a way to tell if I am using the "special" Netflix that came loaded on the NT or if I am using the standard Android Market downloaded app? I'm truthfully not sure that the out-of-sync issue started after this update, but I know it was not there prior when I originally got the NT and watched a couple of videos prior to rooting.
Edit:
Oh, and I did the update while at the GoLauncher home, not the NT home (if that matters). Also, the Amazon viewer does not have this issue at all and works great (after doing the temporary unroot thingy).
I am using the stock Nook app (i.e. not from the android market) and I noticed an out of sync video the other day. I don't know if it has anything to do with the app though. Haven't really looked into it otherwise.
I was watching Netflix on my computer last night and it was all out of sync, I wonder if it is a Netflix issue and not a NT issue?
Watched a show on my computer at lunch and watching a show on my TV thru the Roku right now and both synced perfectly.
I've noticed some shows and videos (sometimes) are like this, try another movie, could be just a temporary problem since netflix is working well on my nt.
This is a problem that I've run into on all of my streaming devices with Netflix. If you go into your account (on the Netflix website) and look at your recently watched list, you can report Audio/Video sync issues.
I've got to believe it's an app (or app plus device) issue since the same movie streams fine on my computer and Roku. Checked my wifi on the NT with Speedtest and I got 16 mb/s download speed, so I doubt that is any problem either.
Does anyone know if it's even possible to update over the "stock" NT Netflix app?

If it's installed to /system/app, generally the market will not update it.

I read that if you leave the actual app in it's original install location and create a symbolic link in system/apps, then you're good to go on updates.
Thoughts?
(I have zero exp. on Unix platform)

I haven't heard that, but it makes sense. However Netflix is installed to /system/app by default (by B&N), so you'd have to move it out if you wanted updates.

So it sounds like I still have the stock app. Has anyone else had problems with the audio being slightly out of sync.
On my NT it goes out of sync for the first 30 secs maybe then usually catches up.

I am on rooted stock 1.4.0 and the Market is suddenly showing a Netflix update for me.
Very strange. I'd prefer to keep the stcok version.
Just watched 30 minutes of Airplane on the new Netflix app, works great! Im 999 rooted, not Cm7 presently.
I'm also getting an update message from the stock netflix app. Anyone know if i should upgrade? It won't replace the stock version with the market version or anything, will it?

I wish I knew. For now, I'm not going to. I have unchecked the auto update option and that seems to have prevented it so far. Just have to make sure I don't accidentally hit it when I have other updates to process.
Unrooted new nook and audio vidio sync
My new nook which I have yet to operate on has had a/v sync issues with some movies from Netflix. So I suspect it is them, not the NT.
One other thing I have noticed is frequent pauses for buffering, like every five minutes. It is running through our home WiFi (which I use through the TV with a Wii, which will pause for uploading maybe two to four times during the movie.) Do others have this? Is there any remedy for this, or will an SD card help?
every time i reboot my nook, it says there's an update for netflix in the market. no matter if i update or not it always goes back to the stock app. i have the same problem with pandora and hulu plus only i have two copies of pandora and hulu plus has been uninstalled more times than i can remember. any fixes?
I am pretty sure stock version comes in 1080p as where the market is not, however Im not completely sure just use titanium to make a back of the original and then freeze it, install the market version and check out the difference your self, if you find it to not to work out as well uninstall and restore the version that came with your nook.

I am using a bastardized frankenROM version of Scott's Senseless 2.0 ICS, and I just noticed that I must have deleted YouTube.apk at some point in time accidentally. So I went to the market and looked, and its not there...
I went to a web browser from a PC and went to the market and signed in and tried to send YouTube to my phone from there, but it says YouTube is not compatible with Rezound?? WTF is that about? Has anybody else come across this problem?
I guess I will just use the Honeycomb version from my transformer for now, but weird... I've never seen a Google Inc. made app not appear in the market before.

Why don't you just pull it from the ROM? The reason you're not seeing it is because you're on a Rezound with ICS. This gives the market fits with certain apps because their compatibility is listed for X version to Y version of Android. You're on Z version lol. Oh and if you want I can just post the APK.
I've never run into this problem before and every device I have is running a custom ROM...
No its ok, I have the apk... got it from the ROM like you said. I was just curious if there was an explanation because I've never seen this happen before

Yeah but there was never a huge gap like there is between ICS and GB. Think about it...going from Eclair to Froyo..small gap, some apps didn't work most apps continued to work. Froyo to GB, again some work some didn't.
The new youtube widget is ghey anyways
Anyone else having issues with the new Google Play Market? Literally every app I open up reads as incompatible with my device. Is this the case for anyone else? I'm currently on Vegan Froyo... is this just an issue for this ROM, or is it with all roms? Personally its becoming incredibly frustrating; many of my existing apps don't update, I'm forced to scour the dark ends of the internet for apks of paid apps I already own.
I tried the Market fix.. but that seems to have made issues worse. Any hope??

What apps fail? Give some examples so that others can
tell you if they work on their Vegan Froyo. Apparently
tapatalk works for you .
What is "ro.product.device=" in your /system/build.prop ?
A bad value/corruption there can cause incompatible messages.
I am on TNT Lite, which a Froyo distribution, and Google Play
works without any problems.
This is when an old CWM backup might have helped. Do you have any around?
My latest magic bullet for Froyo is "Fix Permissions" from CWM.
Give it a shot if all else fails.

I also am having a ton of issues with the new and "improved" google experience... the playstore will not load at all on my gtablet. I am running gtabcombover and really like the ROM... it was flawless until the market went stupid on us.
as soon as i try to open the app, i get the "accept" button but before I can even push it, the thing FC's and no matter what I cant make it even initialize. I am really hoping there is a painless and simple fix for this mess. And even more hoping that google hasnt completely cut all rooted devices out of the loop!
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
I'm having the same problem as the OP, except I'm using Roebeet's TnT Lite Froyo ROM. I've also tried the Market fix with no luck. Any ideas for solving the problem would be appreciated.
Every app that needs to be updated comes back with a "incompatible with your device" error. Market fix didn't make things worse for me, just didn't help much. I'll have more time for experimenting over the weekend, and, will post if I find an answer. Hopefully it's not due to Google Play seeing it as being a rooted device.
It's probably not because the device is rooted. I am running G-harmony and play works fine for me.
Google Market updated itself to the Google Play store without any problem on both VEGAn-TAB 7.1 and GtabCombOver 3.4.2. I was also able to update all of my apps as usual.
I'm using cm7 rc1 and market is hosed. I have tons of paid apps that are "incompatible" and wont update. I tried build.prop edits but nothing is working. If VeganTAB 7 is working I may switch back to it. Was using beastys rom and Google play made it so half my apps wouldn't update that's why I tried cm7.
Update:
VeganTAB 7 works great with Google play and all my apps updated.

Try this suggestion out the next time around, instead of resorting to installing a different ROM.
Google Woes 2
I have a rooted G-Tab with Calkulin’s ROM v1.1 and clemsyn 2.6.32.9 kernel. Everything was running great with no problems. Google changed to Google Play and something has happened with the authenication. Downloads fail (all of them) and the Market fix does not work.
Gtab using Flashback 10.3 Google play
Similar issues here as well, My apps are updating ok but when I go to open Google Play to search for an app it crashes/forces closes. Been searching threads and found none that give clear fixes for this. THANKS GOOGLE!!!!
@aNiMeMaN14
If you know how to edit the build.prop you could try to edit the line for the manufacturer replace what's there with Samsung just remember to make a note of what was there to start. It worked for me but I'm on the DRH ice rom you you may not see it in the overall search but in you put in the name of the app you want it should come up and allow you to download n install. REMEMBER IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE DONT DO IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE COULD CAUSE YOU TO NVFLASH AND REBUILD FROM START HAVE BACKUP. TRY THE ONE IN THE CWM ROM.
there is a modded market available now thanks to the people here on Xda
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582422
Well... I am just full of questions right now. I am really loving having a standard Android style device but so far I'm not having luck with some of my core applications... Right now (after finding out I can't read magazines) I am looking for a way to watch Hulu Plus. I tried some methods of using Titanium Backup to restore it from a zip here on xda. That didn't work, still says my device is unsupported.
I have had some ideas about using the original build.prop that came with the Nook Tablet. I have gotten rather accustomed to ways of getting APKs that are not available to it.
Any ideas from anyone else would be helpful... If I can't get this to work, I'm thinking a rooted 1.4.2 device is fine with me.
Modified Hulu+ APK
This modified hulu+ apk will work.
Have you tried the stock APK from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23486852&postcount=3 ?
I don't have Hulu Plus, but the Netflix from that post works for me, while the market one has horrible A/V sync issues.
thanks for that thread link i had been looking for the netflix one and that thread had it for me!
Let me know how your apk Netflix performs, because on my NT I had the same experience as with the market one.
I actually changes back to rooted 1.4.2 on my Nook, the magazine issue is what did it. When CM9 gets further downnthe road, I may try it because there is a magazine app called Next Issue that works on Honeycomb.
Thank you all, for all the help, seriously.
