I have no idea what's happening
I installed thunderg custom recovery successfuly to flash PrimeV2. I clicked on partition SD card and set the swap to 0 and ext to 512. Then the dots started filling the screen i.e. the card was being partitioned. It was curiously taking a lot of time, but I let it be because I had no idea about this process.
After 30 mins or so, the dots were still filling the screen. I went away for a while, came back after 10 minutes, and now I see thunderg custom recovery caught in an endless 'loop'. I.e. I see the custom recovery menu screen, cannot move the pointer with the volume keys, and it keeps 'refreshing' i.e. the screen moves a bit as though it's just loaded thunderg. It's tough to explain.
The power button doesn't work. I have no idea what to do. I taking out the battery safe?!
If you need a video of whats happening tell me.
Update: Now the screen is black with BUILD: Ra-thunderg 1.1.0-GNM at the bottom, and it's still 'refreshing' like before. No button works.
Are you able to boot in to the system? Wat type and size sd u use?
Did u try reflashing 2.2 via kdz?
Taking out battery should solve the problem, I think so.
Sounds like there is a problem with your sd card, try using another one if possible, or format it before you partition the card. Make sure you have 512mb of space to partition in the first place.
Removed battery, put it in again, then formatted the SD card again and THEN partitioned it. Worked this time.

can some body hep me?
before many time i tried flash my rom using wm6.1 form SD card and never found a problem.
but yesterday, because my sd card full, i formated it on windows XP, I choose FAT on type of partition. after finish, i copied diskimg.nb0 and flash my 6828,
and nightmare begin
after 10 or 15 minute, from bootloader mode, my 6828 screen going purely black and no process anymore. no led indicator on.
when i press power button, nothing happen.
I try remove a battery for a minute, press 2 button and insert batter again, and yes boot loader showed again but after 10~15 minuted going brick again.
I try change diskimg.nb0 on sd card to wm5 original HP, but facing same problem.
last, I try formatted sd card to FAT32 (512 MB), do flash again, and after boot screen going freeze, or showed a minuted, flip then going to boot screen again.
somebody can give me an advice, thank for you help
From your explanation it seem that you still have bootloader, it mean you can fix your device.
Try to reformat your SD Card, choose FAT default partition and do scandisk to recover if any bad sector, or you can use another SD Card. Then reflash your device, you can use others ROM for 6828.
Good Luck.
fat32? how big should the allocation size be?
I want to no partitions, just want to try some froyo roms. previous sd card has partitions and windows won't remove those. so went with new sd card and after reformating in the phone, loaded sensikal rom and now it boot loops.
wtf?
reformatted the new card again. fat32, default allocation. reloaded sensikal rom. wiped, dalvik wipe, flashed rom.
it boots up, 3 skateboard guys, hangs for about 3 minutes then boot loops again into the 3 skater guys.
can't get anywhere with this phone! why can't i load some roms? what is it about cynagon type roms and froyo roms that i cannot flash to this phone? i thought it was the card being partitioned, but i have anew 8 gb sd card and no partitions and it still boot loops? is it my phone? please someone chime in and help. i am starting to f'ing lose my mind. wasting way too much time trying to get this phone to take.
i can load aloysius roms, evil eris roms. cannot load any cyn and froyo roms. also my nand restore doesn't work and i cannot restore anymore (was no problem before).
i think it has to be my phone. it has to be hardware related cause changing the sd card would have removed the only variable in this madness.
The sd should be formatted as Fat32 for froyo with no ext partitions. I don't know if this helps you, but I use the recovery partition to format. Go to the partition section in the menu and choose "0" for swap and ext partitions. This should format it all to fat32. I don't know if there is an difference in formatting to fat32 on your computer.
Oh, and is your phone charged well or connected to a power source? Sometimes low voltage can prevent you from flashing.
one day my phone decided to stop playing nice, and without reason, started boot screen looping.
flashed it with a 354 recovery.img, and then a 354 update.pkg and then installed streakdroid 1.9.1 over that, everything went swimmingly.
then weeks of stability later, I did a reset (not the first) and weird **** came up (from the bottom of the screen, the one that normally can't be rotated to... saying "send this device back for repair, performing format do not remove battery" or something like that.
nothing was happening, so I tried to turn it off, nothing, so I pulled the battery, reinserted it and again, ran fine.
then, a day or so later, I reset the phone, and now it just loops the dell logo.
I tried flashing a 351 recovery.img, and running a 351 update.pkg and still just the loop.
I tried a nandroid backup and it says it can't mount /data/ because e: does not exist
I seem to be able to flasheverything and anything (except the nandroid data) and I have no idea what to try now...
so if there's nothing more I can do, I will need to know what the current australian ROM version is so I can flash it and maybe get it repaired.
does anybody have any suggestions?

This sounds like the error I have seen people report with ClockWorkMod. Is that what you are using for a recovery? Have you tried StreakMod recovery?
yeah, I've only used streakmod
everything I've used has been made especially for the streak, afaik...
if all else fails simply swap out the internal sd card and put in a new one. flash it with qdl tool.
Had that same errors and phone was replaced because of internal memory problem.
It´s strongly recommended to flash the stock rom/recovery/baseband first - even if its going to loop on the bootscreen - before you let Dell replace your device! You know, flashing other roms than the official ones void your warranty!
sounds like a corrupt internal sd card, if u got warranty, use it, if not then ull need to disassemble to format it

Yes, this was what happened to me as well.
You can confirm this by doing the internal sd card test. This is accessed through fastboot, but I can't remember the number combination to get there. It's around here somewhere, just do a search.
From a FAQ that was on StreadDroid.com:
1. Turn off your Streak
2. Hold down the camera button all the way, as you turn on your Streak
3. At the white screen, dial in the code *#301# – This will open the engineering mode that allows you to run individual tests.
4. Dial in 10 then press Enter to run the ‘SD & SIM’ test
5. The “Internal SD” test should pass, and it should show “permanent write-nonprotect”.
internal SD card failed
internal SD:
SD card error!
CMD/Data test : PASS
Permanent write-protection
I'm assuming the best and thinking that means that the SD card had a boo boo and it had nothing to do with my interference...
so can peeps help me one more time and tell me which recovery/ROM/baseband is the current australian builds? the warranty guys are anal about that sort of stuff...
and a stupid question while I'm on the topic, is the BB amss.mbn file for a build in the update.pkg for that same build? if it's different, I'm going to need a link for the amss.mbn file because I don't know what corner of the internet they're hiding them atm...

this is the latest official australian build its 318BB... u probably just got a dud unit, thats my guess..
i remember wen i got my N95 yrs ago i got a dud sd card.. i told em its just the sd card but theyre stupid and nokia replaced the hole unit just in case
like i said, if u have warranty, just use it
PS. when u get ur new unit, be sure to use the 354 rom, its uses the the australian standard frequencies..
either 11 or 00 regions work best.. check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:Dell_Streak.png#ROMs
There's currently no such thing as an 'australian build'
Streaks sold there are either the US or EU model (i cant recall which) and use the 00/retail roms. Of those 351 is the latest 00 rom.
If your innerSD is hosed how are you going to install a rom? the rom lives in the innerSD
I had a big long writeup, but the forum timed me out...
I've looked up some YT video's about how to get to the internal card
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w4AbtIGp8A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0f9N99gAP3w
the first video shows me where the internal SD card is located, the second shows me a cleaner way to get to it...
I need a smaller star screwdriver than what I have to get to it, even the tech guys at my work don't have a screwdriver THAT small...
but I have a few questions, I've looked some, but I don't think this kind of info is easy to find...
so, questions:
what are the size and speed specs of the internal SD card slot? logic dictates that it'll be the same as the external card slot, (32Gb class ?)
I've read that there are three slots inside, can I use all three?
if so, are they only accessed by apps like ASTRO and the like, or can I get to them via the data cable?
has anybody else done this kind of thing? is there anything I need to know?
is there anything else I can mod/tweak while I'm in there?
and, finally, how sweet would it be to get a triple calss 10 RAID 0 going on in there? I'm sure it's all but impossible, but unless I ask, how would I get to know right?

If your phone is still in warranty you should use it, there was a known problem with some Streaks being shipped with a bad internal SD Card.
If it is out of warranty and you choose to replace the inner card I can state from experience that you can easily get access to the card by cutting the back cover with a razor/exacto knife. There is a pic in the thread at MoDaCo that illustrates this. Of course the phone I altered was already dead and I was not able to resurrect it, so I have no way of knowing if my surgery had any ill effects.
A pic of the one I altered is attached.
Edit: the red text is right on the actual internal SD card. You move it to the left to remove it.
be sure that u kno that when u open it up u completely void all warranty, its not like flashing. YOU WONT GET AWAY WITH IT.
Happy Streaking

solved!
I got two new class 10 SDHC cards, a 4G (and a 16G, for the external )
I pried it open with my fingernails, and using a T5 torx screwdriver I opened the case, swapped out the internal SD straight out of the box and closed it up.
I had streakmod 3.2.8, streakdroid 1.9.1, performed a streakmod factory reset and it just started, no formatting, no warnings, no need for a nandroid, it even used my launcherpro settings (which is strange, because someone on this thread mentioned that the internal SD card is where the ROM information goes...)
after using tools like SD booster and SD tools I found optimal speeds, and it's working good.
I expected a better quadrant score considering I went from a no name generic card to a 20x class 10, but still, it works, and for $8 it was worth it.
hi new to the forums so please be nice. i have a nook tablet 1.4.0 which was rooted before with the first cm7 release im guessing. well yeah i recently gone back to college and wanted to update my nook so i wanted to delete everything to restore it to stock, idk what program i used or what i did but it didnt work. i think by that time i was stuck on a boot loop where the n logo just goes on and off after that i saw a thread about a total wipe by using ubuntu i tried that and it worked perfectly i was back in stock. my stupidy lead me to want cm7 back since the apps in nook tablet stock wont let me read the books i have online. as soon as i tried to get cm7 i was stuck in a boot loop again i wanted to see if the ubuntu thing was gonna be the solution for my stupidity but this time it didnt work. it was stuck in "writing all zeros". i tried another boot loop solution by ray waldo it didnt work. i can still run cwm but it has some errors in the background saying "can't mount recovery/command/log/log/last_log/last_log. i want my tablet back just to get it to stock is the best solution i would want and i would just keep it that way. ty for your time.

First thing I'd try would be to make a bootable CM7 SD ROM. If you can boot into that SD ROM, you'll at least have an operating system for the time being, and you can still try to figure out/fix the problem that was created in the internal system.

You can still put files on your SD card. The let me try to explain:
The CM7 image that you wrote to your SD card created 4 partitions. By using a free software called MiniTool Partition Wizard on a PC, you can extend the 4th partition (the one for user data) of your SD card to consume the rest of your storage space. The software is really easy to use, you shouldn't have any trouble with it.
Again, I know this all isn't fixing your main issue yet, but at least you'll have a tablet again until it hopefully gets fixed up.

tysm for helping me solar. imma do it fresh from the start right now i have a clean 32 gb micro sd card. i downloaded the cm7 for the sd. i have minitool partition wizard installed. whats my next move. im sorry for the trouble im giving you.
No trouble for me, my friend. We're all here to help.
Okay, so I assume you're running Windows here:
1.) Write the CM7 SD .img to your microSD card using the Win32DiskImager tool found in the opening post of the CM7 ROM thread.
2.) After that's finished, open up the Partition Wizard software and find your SD card disk (make sure it's the right one!)
3.) Choose the option to resize the 4th partition of your SD card. Resize it so that all off the unallocated space becomes part of that last partition.
4.) After you're satisfied with that, click the option to apply those changes and wait for it to perform those actions.
5.) You should now be good to put the SD card into your NT and boot up into your new CM7 ROM!

Okay, you're good there. Go to Disk 2, and the 4th partition down. Click on it then click the Move/Resize button on the toolbar of the program. Then just drag the bar all the way across and you will see that you're changing the storage of the 4th partition.
Report back if you get stuck.

ok sorry is the 4th partition the 26.09 gb unallocated?
No, that 26.09GB is unused right now (unallocated space).
The fourth partition is simply the fourth one down, it has a capacity of 1.30GB. You want to resize that one.

Q: why do we not have a key combo to enter recovery CWM after its been flashed ?
Ok , retartar q here but first a bit of back story , i beefed my sd card , not sure how but its dead so i swapped for another sd card. im offshore i cant pop into a store im 200 miles in the gulf so, i have flashed the ten point MT to the tablet and the internal emmc is still stock , i was trying out 10.1 4.2.2. i like it and now i want to flash that to the tablet but i can not figure out how to get into clockworkmod , ive searched and searched yes ive used google , yes ive tried all sorts of combinations on the tablet from a COLD boot i dont have access to touch screen at the moment to app to soft boot into recovery is out for the moment,
i have CWM installed on the tablet and cant figure out how to get to it from a cold boot , any thoughts ?
once i get to that im going to flash 10.1 to internal emmc , i wasnt counting on my sd card to break....
The easiest way would be making a bootable cwm sd card.
I dont think the cwm recoveries for NT have a hardware combo trigger, but try one of the the usual combo (press and hold) - power+n , n+vol up, n+voldown while booting. one of them may trigger recovery mode. But I've never tried this so i cant say for sure.
Also, wrong section
If you have the option to burn a new card that would be best but maybe you don't if you're off shore.
I thing that holding power and n trigger a full reset so you probably want to avoid that. You could try pressing power, release it and then right away hold n. I doubt it will work but it's worth a try.

i have one of those rare ones that doesnt need a cable to boot but what ive noticed is that upon cold boot it will boot to emmc then on the next cold boot boot to sd then next is emmc then sd card so no idea what thats about but i never had an issue holding power then restarting to get to boot to sd card but this leaves me to believe my only other microsd card out here wont work cause its failed non stop to boot to that sd card i had an 8 gig in it and my only other one from my cell is a 32 gig and its not booting same class 4 too , diffrent manufacture both name brand though , i think im **** outta luck until i go home and get my stash of sd cards outta my laptop bag ...
i tried burning a recovery sd card , nothing same boot to emmc factory software ,
ive tried countless things but all failures to boot to sd card , i think i need a diffrent sd card and thats not gonna happen for bloody weeks
OK so following the instrutions for the make sd card boot of 10.1 WORKED! but now i want to install to emmc is there a way to install to emmc once booted to sd card ? some reason i could not get the install from sd to emmc version to work , i have very slow bandwidth out here it takes me 2-3 hours just to download a bloody image (ROM) so i have the 10.0 install to emmc rom and 10.1 boot to sd how can i make this work without needing another night to download the image ?
yes , internet sucks out here , im 200 miles out in the gulf ...

I always use one of those "readymade" CM10 images on an sd when installing internally. What I do is I hold "n" right after "power" to get into Cyanoboot menu. Once there I vboot into recovery (CWM) and from there I can flash the CM10 and gApps that I put on the card prior to booting.
Described step by step: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43871774&postcount=2
Edit: And on a totally not important note: Those NT's that don't need to be tethered to boot from sd can't be as rare as some people seem to think, because of the dozen or so that has passed through my hands only one has needed to be plugged in to boot off sd.
SUCCESS!!! i got the 10.1 4.2.2 sd card to work , i then used cynoboot to get into CWM on internal , took a min to figure out how to copy from computer to my sd card the rom 10.0 but once i got it somewhere i could access it on the tablet under internal CWM it flashed and im booting it now , hopefully its not boot looped ..
