I was using the latest DOW 14, ended up with the dreaded internal sd card not mounting. stl10 error!
Anyway, sending it back, but I don't have anyway of wiping the internal sd card. Is there something I can do to mount it to my pc like a USB drive.

Try downloading Odin, and the stock image Do you know how to get into download mode on your phone? do a search for the "no brick" odin image, then go into download mode, load odin, flash it, then flash the stock odin image, and you should be good to go. The great thing about this phone is its almost impossible to brick. You can email me if you have any [email protected]

What I did was I went to settings, sd and phone storage, then formated phone storage. That worked for me

Thanks for the reply. I've odined back to stock, no good. The only thing that gets my phone remotely working is Eugene's Froyo no Brick.
I can't mouth the phone's storage. There must be a work around thru the pc, BUT MY PHONE WON"T MOUNT TO PC EITHER. AND YES I HAVE THE RIGHT DRIVERS.
May be there's a voodoo rom that can be applied through odin. I know that voodoo recovery has some mount options.

If my previos reply does not work, try connecting your vib to your pc, select usb connect and then you should get 2 options of drives, 1 for the external, and 1 for the internal sd

I am sending my phone back and I am sure I am having the same problem as you are. Got my phone today thank god! So if it wont boot up T-Mobile cant see what you have done with it. They don't go and look what you have done they just use what parts they can and ditch the rest. I rooted and flashed CyanogenMod on my Mytouch 3g and the screen went out. I got a replacement under warranty then sent the phone back as is. Not one problem from T-Mobile. So just send it back and don't worry about what is on it.

I would not bank on that, I am sure that when they receive the phone, they will check it to determin and verify that the phone is still under warranty. And if they discover it is rooted, then your warranty is voided and you will be charged for the exchange

I've heard stories like this, where you get a nasty bill a few months later. Though I think it really depends on where you are and who they have working on these things. I wouldn't be surprised to hear things like these swept under the rug, but I also wouldn't be surprised hear of people getting caught. I really don't know what they do with the bricked phones people claim "just stopped workin" maybe they send them to a company that specializes in smartphone autopsies...or the manufacturer even.
Well I got my replacement phone today... hell yes I paid the $20 for rush delivery (took 2 days). I did flash the JFD even though it wont boot up. If I do get charged for it I will let you all know.

You will only get charged if its rooted, if you flashed back to stock you should be fine. Just never send in phone rooted cause thats the killer.

Well, if its truly bricked and they cant get it to boot, then they just send back to manufacturer. But if they get it to boot, then they will try to determine why it bricked in the first place. So if unsure whether or not flash to stock removed root, then best bet is to file a claim with insurance to get it replaced. Because paying 130 deductible is better than paying full price. At least IMO

BTW, If you have insurance on the phone the replacement cost is $150. Due to the fact that I have used the insurance to replace my phone more than 2 times in 1 year my insurance was canceled. When I did the warranty replacement now they tell me the cost billed to me is $238 if they find phone damage is not under warranty. Much less than buying the phone at full market price.

You aren't alone, fella. There's a lot of us in the same boat right now after using DOW. (And yes, we've all tried to flash back to stock with Odin - any stock.)
To the poster who said reformatting the internal storage worked for him -- congrats, you got lucky if you really had the same issue. I tried that. Didn't help at all on my phone. I wish it had!
Good luck, xdarooted. Let us know how it goes.

ive got an issue, i happened to drop my eris in a pool last night on accident. luckily it still works for the most part but i just came to find out that cant access my sd card but it charges just fine?? and my phone wont work in a call unless on speaker phone now... im really happy that it still works but not having access to my sd is kinda stifling being rooted, has this happened to anyone else?, cuz im really debating sending it back under its warranty,im just thinking itd be an easy fix and maybe cheaper than an insurance claim....

if ur phone is rooted ur warranty is void
Your SD card doesnt work cause the card itself is probably broken and the microphone shouldnt work cause its full of water. Try taking it all apart (remove battery, sd card, case back) and put it all in rice over night. maybe itll dry out more. best of luck!

yeah usb toggle thru recovery dont work either. im really suprised it still works aswell as it does, my past three phones have died from drinking too much liquid but they were blackberries, the Eris is pretty indistructable! thanks for your help guys...
I've bricked 4 Eris's. Rooted with custom recovery. I walk into the Verizon store, say it won't boot and walk out with a refurb. They don't really seem to care. The last time the guy even gave me the link to the 1-click root app. They *may* check the water damage indicators on yours, but I wouldn't bet on it. Worth a shot at least.

Not that I condone such behavior, but they are relatively easy to brick... They'll switch it out free at the store. Claim it happened after the OTA.

This time I have really f***ed up guys. I really think this time I have actually bricked my Thunderbolt. I was on Bamf Remix 1.63 I believe and everything was running great. I was obviously rooted also. I was bored and decided to flash Protekks Battery Sipper Kernel. Right after I flashed it, the phone would not boot. I pulled the battery and booted up again and it got stuck in a boot loop. So after a few tries I finally got it to boot into the bootloader. I got into recovery and tried to flash a backup and it rebooted in the middle of restoring it. I tried that a few more times. I then let the battery die. Then I charged it up a lot and tried to power it on and got nothing. The screen will not even turn on. When plugged into my computer it sometimes vibrates and my computer detects it and then my computer makes the sound like it was disconnected. I think it is still stuck in the boot loop with the screen off though. BTW the charging light does light up when plugged in. I tried the stock and extended battery to make sure it was not a battery problem. I finally called up Verizon and after I told them it would not turn on he said he is shipping me a free replacement. I told them that after a OTA update the phone would not boot. He warned me that if there is any evidence that the phone was rooted or hacked, I would be charged the retail price for the phone. That is really the only thing I am scared of. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Sorry for the long post, I wanted to get in all the details that I could.
Thanks
Adam

I already have the stock zip on the SD card so when it does boot up, it will return everything to stock. I have read online that some people have been charged retail because there phones have been rooted but most of them have gotten away with with it..

I got out of a bootloop on my friend's Insipre 4G (which is very similar to the TB) by mounting the microSD on my computer, and then putting a stock ROM on it. I had to rename the stock ROM PG98IMG (PG05IMG on Thunderbolt), and flash it through the bootloader, but it did work.
Thanks for the post man but the Thunderbolt does not show any signs of life at all besides the flashing orange LED at the top blinking and the computer detecting it on and off every 5 minutes. The stock zip is already on the SD card so when it finally boots up it will flash and hopefully Verizon won't charge me out the @ss for a replacement.

how long have you had your phone and what hardware revision was it? did you try to run the RUU yet?
i think some people just got a batch of faulty phones because this doesn't seem to affect many.
I highly doubt verizon is going to receive your broken phone and boot it up and it will magically work. The only way it will auto-update is if they boot it into HBOOT. If they somehow just power it on it won't automatically apply anything. Keep that in mind. But I really wouldn't worry too much about it. If they charge you call them and tell them wtf I wasn't rooted. I don't even know what that means lol.
I have had the phone since the very first days it was released. Another slight annoying thing I have had happening prior is the glue on the screen has not been holding it down very well and and I can easily get a nail under it. And it wont let me do anything. that's what im starting to think as htc has since released a revision 2 thunderbolt. i know as i just bought mine a few weeks ago. im wondering if the faulty phones were version 1 phones and have since been fixed. i also do not experience the high battery drain most of you guys do either.
I can confirm that I bricked my phone tonight. I was playing in Clockwork trying to get a ext4 partition using a sdparted.txt. I gave up with that because I could not get it to work properly. Well I decided to push my a rom from adb to sd and it was taking forever so I closed out cmd and proceeded to mount SD from recovery but it would not mount. So I figured the SD card was locked up with CMD or perhaps I corrupted the partitions. So I pulled the battery and popped the sd in my pc and everything was fine with the card. So I went back and put the sd card back in my phone and tried to boot it up and I got nothing. I then plugged the phone into my pc and got nothing.. No lights no boot nothing. It did try to install QHSUSB_DLOAD drivers. Which I know someone is already working on. I guess sprint will be getting a visit tomorrow with my brick. Sigh.. No matter how experienced you think you are you are always not experienced enough..
Just wondering have you tried turning it on while its not plugged in? It may take a few pushes of the power button. Well you mentioned you tried before you plugged it in but try a few times, one time it took me 6 presses of the power button.
Try pulling the battery out waiting for 5 to 10 minutes then put it back and try booting!
Sywped from mah Supasonic!
To answer both of you Yes I have tried many times of pushing the power button plugged and unplugged and also leaving the battery an for extended period of time. No charging light comes on and it prompts for the QHSUSB_DLOAD drivers. I am assuming this is what trevE has been working on. Thus leading me to believe it is a full brick.
Can you get to your Hboot?

He could just say his phone turned off and now it wont boot. The employees at a Sprint repair center don't have the time or resources to launch an investigation into exactly how your phone failed and if it was his fault or not. Unless he opens his mouth or its some kind of physical/liquid damage they will give him a replacement no problem.
This is correct. By this I mean above post. They won't take the time to really check and you are not lying by saying it won't boot.

They won't find out if the phone wont turn on. The problem is that people are not smarter than the equipment they are working with and do stupid things like brick their phones, and return them while lying and in the end, the rest of us end up suffering. Before Android brought in a whole slew of retards who bricked their phones, insurance was a 50 dollar deductible. I fully expect it to be 150 soon.
If you are dumb enough to try stupid things and brick your phone, at least man up and be responsible and do the right thing. Yeah, thats not going to happen.
if you brick a phone why not do the right thing and get yourself a new one by manning up and paying for it. I mean dont we all talk about doing the right thing? If you dont wanna pay retail, I am sure they will let your renew your upgrade, if you tell them you can either buy a phone or pay the ETF and go elsewhere, they will usually let you upgrade the phone.
I cant believe you experiment with stupid **** when you know it might f up the phone.
If you have insurance you can just lose it and pay the 100.00 ded. the brick should be worth at least a 100.00 on ebay. I sold an og evo with a broken lcd and bad esn. in an auction it got 126.50 about a month ago.

Meh just a soft brick, it's not like he's shipping it to them in pieces or anything. It just needs reflashed. If he were to use insurance the deductible would be nearly pure profit for them.
I remember seeing in another forum (can't remember which atm) that something was buggy in clockwork and it would zero out parts of the eMMC when formatting/partitioning something. It may be a good idea for someone to try and find out what it was doing to see if our version is prone to it also.
I decided to come back to my post and say a few more things. To the few who harped and lectured about taking my phone to sprint, I just wanted to let you know I explained to the sweet girl behind the counter that I was formatting my sdcard and some how the phones emmc got erased with it. She had no freaking clue Wtf I was talking about and just gave me a different phone. I never had any intention of claiming insurance or lying about how it happened. So you guys who whined can settle down now. But on another note this all happened on clock work and yes I was repartitioning the SD card via clock work / recovery - adb shell - sdparted.txt script.
Something funky happened when I did the battery pull after I could no longer mount the sdcard from within recovery..

Meh just a soft brick, it's not like he's shipping it to them in pieces or anything. It just needs reflashed. If he were to use insurance the deductible would be nearly pure profit for them.

I think that's the NookColor. You *cannot* format your SD (or on any non-stock rom) or you would format a portion of the eMMC and could (would always?) brick, hard....though it probably happens elsewhere, it's the entire platform from what I recall (of which the NookColor is a near reference design)...I think it was from confusion caused by how the partitions were referenced since you could boot from SD or eMMC or have any number of partitions on either.

My Thunderbolt has just decided to completely crash at once and I was wondering if anyone here knew of any possible solution.
The charging port on my phone has broken so I cannot charge it or connect it to my computer. I took it in to Verizon to get it replaced and was told to put the factory rom back before they would replace it.
I didn't think that would be a problem until about 20 minutes later when my phone stopped reading my memory card. I have tried several different memory cards so I am sure it is my phone broken, not the card.
While at the Verizon store, the CS rep gave me another Thunderbolt to use to charge my battery with until I could get a replacement (I found this very strange) so I am able to at least charge my phone for now.
any ideas here?
Yea don't ever take a phone into a Verizon store and expect to get any real help. You're better off calling it in over the phone and letting them figure it out later than dealing with the retards at the stores. They know nothing most of the time and are a huge hassle.

He was actually very helpful. I just went in today to talk to the same guy and found out he doesn't work at that store anymore. He is the regional manager now

Honestly, in my opinion, the best thing you can do is stick the memory card in a computer by putting it in an adapter or SD slot if your computer has one and then reformat it to FAT32. If your computer reads it, save your pics and videos first to the computer so that you'll have them. I had this problem before and it just happened in my back pocket. I'll never know what happened. Anyways... since you're rooted and everything is already installed to your phone, it won't hurt your phone at all by reformating the SD entirely via computer. Remember, if the computer will read it, its not a memory card issue... normally its a format issue and the phone reading it.
Once your SD is newly formatted, put it back in and immediately backup your ROM just in case.
You shouldn't have any further issues with it.
Proceed with the unrooting process. All those files that existed would pretty much needed to have been deleted anyways.

Roflmao. Still though. It is easier to deal with customer service when you return a rooted device because they don't get to see until after you get the new device so you have a chance to unroot before they know you're rooted.

so I odined my vzw note II back to stock using the alt tar package. It booted up fine, but then I rebooted back into recovery (stock android) and stupidly, or curiously... flashed the CWM Touch 6.0.32 recovery image in recovery, it attempted to reboot, but nothing. All I'm getting is a dim red light flashing everytime I try to boot my phone up. I've switched out the battery and still the same. btw, my battery was full when I did this. Potential brick? Or should I try to use a usb jig to get it it to boot back up and go into download mode?

This is most likely a brick but possibly just a soft brick. I did the same thing on my S3 and was able to get it back up and running using a jig and flashing the stock kernel in Odin.
Can you get to Download mode at all or does it just flash the red LED when you try to boot into recovery? I would at least try the jig before having it JTAG'ed cause there is at least a chance it'll work.

yeah, it doesn't turn on at all. Even being plugged in. It just flashes a red light for like a second and that's it. I can't get it to turn on for the life of me.
edit: any chance I can borrow that jig? lol.
You sure can, I made it myself. If you have any soldering skills I can send you the instructions if you would rather not wait on it to come thru the mail or if you live in Alabama I will meet you and give it to you.
There is also a page on XDA about USB jigs that has a list of people willing to loan theirs out, there may be one near you if you would rather not wait.
Its easy to make them though, all you have to do is have basic soldering skills, a micro USB end, and a resistor (which I believe was a 300k resistor, its been so long since I made it though the value could be off. I still have the supplies to make 10+ more though so I could look to make sure if you did go the route of making your own).
Either way its up to you, I can send you mine thru the mail or if you're game to build one I can send you the instructions.
Also the jig may not work, it depends on how badly bricked you are, but it worked so me when I did the exact same thing and had the exact same problem on my S3. You may have to get it JTAG'ed though, which I really hope you're able to fix it with a jig.

I'm going to bite my tongue about you flashing in stock recovery since you have learned your lesson with your situation at hand
You can order one from mobiletechvideos.com which is a reputable place. It's only $8. It says galaxy s, but it's listed under note2 products

$8 dollars is a little high seeing as how you can buy then for 5 on Amazon. Considering what goes into it $5 is almost to high.
And biting your tongue about flashing in stock recovery? If it had been the recovery zip he would have been fine, I've even made the mistake of flashing a tar.md5 in my recovery when I knew better simply because I wasnt paying enough attention to it because I wasnt at home and eas downloading it on my phone. It's an easy mistake to make of you're on the move and arent on a computer, especially when considering the TWRP update is either tar.md5 for Odin or a zip for your recovery. I thought I had seen CWM recovery flashable zips around on here but I may have been wrong seeing as how I dont use CWM anymore and dont keep up with it.
Also jigs are fairly easy to make seeing as all you have to have is a micro USB end and a 300k resistor. I bought the micro usb end that came with a shell for a cord and while there is a hole on one end it still looks better than having a hacked wire hanging around.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Premium HD app
Here are some pictures of the one I made. The hole on the end is because the shell was made for a wire to go out to another USB end but I just used the shell for this instead of having a hacked cord lying around or a wire running out of the opening and connecting to the resistor outside of plastic shell. Having the resistor out of the shell would be easier to short circuit whereas it is completely stable in the shell.
The little piece you see in the opening is the very end of the 300k resistor that is covered with heat shrink tubing so none of the metal is exposed. I'd you want to make your own you can follow the instructions from here:
http://galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-hacks/how-to-make-a-usb-jig-for-your-galaxy-s2/
The male micro USB ends I used I got off of eBay:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=390363690475
They come from China and take a while to get here but you could just as easily get them from Digi Key
Also the 300k resistors I got off of Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/E-Projects-30...1369827313&sr=8-2&keywords=300k+watt+resistor
If you still want to use mine I will send it to you no questions asked, just let me know.

When I was messing with jigs there were a few different ones but as long as it is made for Samsung or works on Samsung products you should be fine.

yeah, I hope to god it works though. Do you know of any JTAG/sd card unbrick for the i605? I emailed the seller about JTAG on the note II and he said it wasn't possible, they're using the sd card method, which I can't seem to find anything on unfortunately.
also, here's what i ordered:

That one should work fine, if it doesnt let me know and I will try to find you one that does.
As for the SD card JTAG I dont think that has worked since the 4.0 update on Samsung phones, I may be wrong on that though because I never messed with it. The only surefire way I know to JTAG a Samsung phone is to either buy a JTAG, which is around $150 and is called a RIFF box, or to send it to MobileTechVideos and get him to do it for $60.
There is a thread on XDA about using an SD card to JTAG an international S3 but im unsure if the software you had to load on the card is out for the Note 2.
The downside to doing it yourself is you have to take the phone apart and solder the wires to the JTAG contacts on the MoBo, on some phones you can make a piece out of breadboard so you dont have to solder the wires to the contact points on the MoBo but I dont know if you can do that with the Note 2.
If you went the route of getting it JTAG'ed you definitely need to send it to MobileTechVideos, he has been doing this for quite a while and is very very good at what he does.

Yeah, hopefully I won't have to go that route, but if I do I'm planning on sending it to mobo, and hopefully can get it back rather quickly. Guess we'll find out tomorrow... Which sucks, but what can you do? Hopefully, if you had the same problem on the s3 and a jig worked for you then it'll work for my note 2. Honestly I don't see how the hell flashing a recovery zip in stock recovery could brick me. I've never ever heard of it doing that.

Well I flashed the recovery img, that bricked me immediately. I rebooted the recovery and thats when I figured out how bad I screwed up. Hopefully this will work for you, these suckers are hard to hard brick so I'm crossing my fingers that the jig will get you up and running.
