Here is the Play On app. I have not yet tested it on my NC because it is dead and I am at work. It does work on my Droid however.
I read that this requires a $14.99 subscription.
Is there a free trial or something like that? Flash video playback hasn't been top notch for me so far, and I don't want to pay $15 for something I won't be able to use.
Thanks for the upload
Edit: Went to playon.tv and downloaded the free 14-day trial they had there.
For those still unaware, the trial is here: http://www.playon.tv/download

You must have meant $39.99 (1st year / $19.99 per year thereafter) or $79.99 for the life of the product.
"PlayOn is a software program that runs on your Windows PC, giving you access to a wide range of Internet content on your TV -- Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon VOD, and many others"
If you're wating Netflix, do you also need a netflix account, or is it included in playon?

I can get a Lifetime for 56$ due to being a legacy Customer, that had bought the original version. I'm kinda Mad at my self when the new pay format came out they offered me Lifetime for 39$ and I passed it up. O well time to pay the piper.

Yeah, but they offered lifetime before this version of playon and then made them pay for this version, so lifetime isn't really lifetime with PlayOn.

I bought the previous lifetime version thinking I wouldn't have to pay again... They are are only a lifetime license for the major version you purchase, any major release in the future and you will have to upgrade again.
sounds like lifetime is a rip then.... so that $79.99 must be only for the version they have right now. new version, new price.
it's kinda lame to put "lifetime price" on a product like this if all they have to do is release a "3.0" version that might not have many upgrades past a visual face lift.
no thank you on this one, neat concept, poor execution.
They have a Free Premium Preview going on right now, So i though I would try it out, So far have watched some hulu, and Adult swim to great effect.
Quality is not super but very passable. and no real Frame skipping that I can tell.
I made a short vid of the nook playing adult swim on Playon. Sorry about the sound, had TV on in the background

Forgive me. Total Noob.
Didn't realize Nook was 2.1 not 2.2
Once again sorry.

Not sure if anyone uses this app on a regular basis as I do, but there are some really cool added features coming in the premium version. Syncing and such.
Anyhow, right now they are offering the new premium app for $4.99 on Amazon for life where as after tomorrow, the fee will be $1.99 a month. Seems like a great deal to get it now. I can also say the syncing between phones works great. Mine and my wife's can share the grocery list with no problem.
http://www.amazon.com/Out-Of-Milk-L...1?ie=UTF8&s=mobile-apps&qid=1307122262&sr=1-1
What is the monthly fee for multiple users?
Looks like a pretty good deal for a lifetime subscription, but the Amazon site indicates a small monthly fee to add users (like my wife?) to the app.
Any idea what that fee would be? I'm currently using OurGroceries (with ads). The real-time updating is the important thing for me on the grocery list -- without it, it's really not worth buying.
Guess I'm old fashioned, but paper and pen works for us, and in the grand scheme of life, some things need to be left that way! The day I sync a grocery list is the day I lose my phone, and TV remote to a younger generation.

I bought it on both phones so that I had the license on both. Works great. My wife made me a few lists already.

LOL....yea, but I try to keep a better handle on my phone than on a paper list. I would lose the list. At least if you lose your phone, you can call it and find it.
OurGroceries works well and free.

That sucks. Should be a one time charge from market. I hate games that do this, they are just a waste of money especially if its to buy ingame upgrades. Just horrible.
i will play the free till im bored then delete im not payin 15 dollars their trippin
I was swilling to pay the $14 anyways before it was free so no biggie to me.
installed now on my atrix and my acer iconia but i have to wait to try it. cant play at work

The graphics are amazing, but I think its messing with my brightness controls. Seems really bright. Also I am totally losing to the pirates when you team with gartun.. or w/e his name is. Does the data store on SD?

well it's not really an 'upgrade', you're basically playing the "LITE/FREE" version and you would be paying for the FULL version. we are actually getting a demo version for the Tegra, whereas anyone else who wanted to even try the game has to actually buy it flat-out.
Its on the market... Game is pretty difficult.died like 5 times
My question is if we buy it in game, is the license transferable like normal market games?
Update: I'm a sucker for these Star Fox styled games. SF64 is the best game, and I just got suckered into buying this. These graphics are amazing! I wish the audio clips had a bit longer of a pause after talking. It doesn't sound natural. Crashed once directly to the home screen, and I hope there is an update in the future to disable the brightness. When you turn towards the star(s), it gets super bright. I might post a review on this.

is it just me or are the controls pretty bad?
They are somewhat finicky. It's kind of difficult to implement the controls of this style with a single analog stick. Think SuperMan 64 (lol not!).

$15 for a cell phone game? What a joke
The new app is awesome. It offers many new features and flexability. Only one major problem for preexisting Android users. Now you have to pay to access over the internet while preexisting Apple users do not. http://support-splashtop2.splashtop.com/entries/21825816
*Update*
Seems they have deleted that post (or blocked me one or the other). Now they are offering 1 year free Access Anywhere to preexisting customers. Looks like there are a bunch of people that are upset https://play.google.com/store/apps/...yLDEsImNvbS5zcGxhc2h0b3AucmVtb3RlLnBhZC52MiJd
*Update 2*
I am satisfied with the resolution offered by Splashtop. Personally I think the added features make it the best remote client for Android.
Does the new app offer any significant changes? I only just got around to trying the one included with the Asus stuff, it's pretty neat.
Yes, usability is greatly improved.

I will if they change it to a "For life" deal, just like what they have for iOS users. Everyone should get onto the app page and give it one star, and post their disapproval all over Splashtop's page until the backlash makes them realize how wrong they were to pull this on us, and how bad this was for their reputation.
Is this year free deal only in the U.S? I don't see it anywhere in the description? In Canada btw.
Edit: see it now, its under any negative review. But honestly they should give us lifetime for free as well

The year free is only if you had previously purchased Splashtop HD or THD. All new users (iOS or Android) have to pay for Access Anywhere. The offer was given in the user reviews on Google Play. It is their response to the backlash of existing customers.
Thank you for your feedback and support. We understand you have bought Splashtop HD. If you can send an email to [email protected] with your Splashtop ID and Gmail address used to purchase Splashtop HD, we will proceed to give you 1-year Anywhere Access Pack for free. Thanks yah I see it now, didn't think to look in the in the reviews. And I own THD so I'm not pleased about having to pay again for this. Already left a review stating this. Thanks though!
Maybe I'm missing something but what is the big difference here?
I have Splashtop THD and the only thing I noticed different is that it offers pinch/zoom.

Yeah! Equal treatment! We have to force them to make the app $2.99 on Android!
I would easily pay $2.99 to get a lifetime subscription like previous iOS customers get.
Instead, I get the app for free but have to pay $.99 per month or $9.99 per year once my free year is up.
Somehow they thought this was a good marketing plan?
They try to give reasons such as how in the iOS app store it was made as a replacement app so they are forced to give lifetime subs to previous customers. How is that now supposed to be OUR problem?

It looks like they are starting to see why people are reacting so adversely. All we want is consistency.
I purchased Splashtop THD, have Splashtop HD that came with my ASUS TF201, and also have Splashtop Mobile purchased through the Amazon app store.
So I emailed them a few days ago, and they just responded saying they are giving me 2 years free. A little strange since some are getting lifetime, others a year, and I'm getting 2 years. But I'm ok with that, there will probably be a new version out before the 2 years is up anyways. So email them personally, they'll give you something.
They gave me lifetime as well. When they also explained that iOS users have to pay to download the app, it made more sense of how in the long run, the costs to both parties should be comparable. It seems that each new version would cost iOS users $$ to download, while our subscriptions guarantee us free downloads of any new versions that are released. It would be better however, if they can fix the problem and use the same exact model for both parties. Overall, I feel they are doing the best they can now with the difficulties presented to them, and hopefully it all get fixed soon.

for $199 is this tablet still a good buy?
I'm looking for something that runs netflix, google play, hbo go, etc.
Thanks for the help.
Well.. I myself wouldn't do it... I would get a nexus device in your place if i'd stick to samsung, but i'm using samsung device since 6 years now and i'm kind of tired of their support... If i have had any hardware or software issues, then 'it was all my problem' they had nothing to do with it... Once you buy one of their devices, they will let you die with it, they just don't care anymore after you buy their devices, they're to busy to compete with apple i think..
And also, Samsung dropped all support for this tablet.

Indeed. Mine's starting to feel slow, but otherwise still alright.. One thing I found that using a Swapsd script I found somewhere really helped make it suck less. lmao
My wife got her 769 just a little wet, and it decided to stop working (the water damage indicator is still white), and nothing I did seemed to help it, so she got her a Samsung Galaxy Light. I decided to move to the Nexus 5, but I'm using my old L9 as a rain sound machine for when we sleep at night.
L9 uses ti omap 4430. As TI abandoned mobile soc market, our device is left unsupported. Still, I don't have idea why there's no cm11 builds for it, many omap devices like kindle fire got those.
I'm still here. I bought this device months ago because it was an inexpensive and sweet middle tier device. I bought the Metro version and unlocked bootloader, installed Bobz CM11 originally then put the device on ATT unlimited 4g. I'm still working on a secure CM11 firmware for it and I plan to make video guides for it also. I'm working on porting Ubuntu Touch to this also I'm just having trouble getting the thing to make calls. I work on a number of projects like this and I'm doing development for XBMC on the XBOX still.
Here soon probably a few weeks my ROM should be RC and I will release it.
I'm too cheap to give up and buy a new phone.
I have a encrypted locked bootloader that i'm still trying to unlock. I ordered some 910k resistors and micro usb heads, but they ship from China so i have to wait.
If I ever get it unlocked, I can write a comprehensive tutorial on how to do it.
Same, no money to upgrade and no reason as well, with CM 11 phone is running relatively smooth and works for my needs.
Yep. Same here. I have money but I like to get the most out of things. This phone is a great choice as long as you can unlock bootloader and install CM11. It's the perfect size and what I really like about it is the fact it's made in Korea. I boycott anything from China, India, Bangladesh and 3rd worlds. I enjoy having high quality stuff from 1st worlds on the cheap. For instance, I have a pair of boots hand made in England and from materials gathered in England that I paid $200 for and suffice to say these great high quality boots will look nice and last at least 10 years. It's getting harder to find stuff like that now adays. All of my clothes are hand made in 1st worlds like England, Canada, Sweden, Italy, etc. What's funny about that too is when I'm out and about I often get complements about my stuff from people that are far wealthier than I am, not saying I'm wealthy though, and when I sometimes talk to people about all this dogsh!t from China etc these "rich" people look at the tags on their clothes and see they are wearing something made in china/india/bangladesh/wherever and then they get pissed off about it and I just have to laugh at them because I paid a fraction of the price for a legitimate high quality 1st world thing while they paid for overpriced crap that will fall apart in weeks.
Same principal goes for these phones. They will drop support for it to force you to upgrade so they can keep getting money from ya. Thing is a lot of these phones have great hardware in them and the hardware will be ahead of the softwares hardware requirements for years. That's why I love CM because through it my 2 year old device is still ahead of the "cutting edge" crap they release and it will be for a few more years all for $75 lmao!
On another note: CM is so private and secure compared to other Firmwares stock or modified. And just about any electronics coming from China are going to be backdoored so they can steal all of your personal information and sell it to the highest bidder. We can't always stop those chinks from selling their crap here in the US but we can be an informed consumer and a smart shopper so we can force their low tier companies into either going bankrupt or force them into stop making crappy stuff so they can no longer rip off hard working class Americans.
I love doing stuff like this. My home theater is better than a $10,000+ home theater and I only paid $150 for the parts.

I sure as hell wouldn't. If you're talking about the klipse headphones there are guides out there where you can build better ones yourself for $15 or modify others and they come out better all the way around. If you're talking about a home theater well friend FOSS is always going to be better. I have a 4k projector I built + HD sony receiver 7.1 and a HTPC I built with XBMC on it that I control all from my cell phone all for $150 with FOSS and hardware mod guides. All I do now is download all my 1080p/4k movies and tv shows and games for free all off this P769 wirelessly tethered. That's why I say FOSS for life baby!!!!
