Media server that also serves ebooks? - Nook Color Themes and Apps

Only saw one thread on ps3? Server. How are people serving content to their nook? Any good apps that also support ebooks/pdfs, streaming video?
Sent from my LogicPD Zoom2 using XDA App

It's early days for the android version of PLEX, which has been out for iOS things for a while .. it should do the job but documentation is very thin for android right now ...

The nice thing about ebooks is you don't really need to stream them because of the files size. I just use Opera Unite to access my home file server with all my ebooks.
unite.opera.com/overview/
For music, im currently using subsonic which seems to be working pretty good, but I probably wont end up purchasing the license.

UPnPlay + Rockplayer in NC and PS3 media server in desktop - combo works great for music and video streaming. I haven't tried ebooks yet.

While e books don't really need "serving" due to size I for instance have the entire Project Gutenberg library and sorting though it to see what I want to read on the NC can be a hassle. To that end I use calibre server installed on my hp475 Home Server to push out any book and the stock WHS for any song/movie/image/sw/apk/etc. via browser on WAN and es file manager or mount mgr/CIFS on home LAN. If you don't have a home server then calibre will run from any workstation and you can use ddns for WAN access.

Like aklyz, I use Calibre. Handles my entire library, allows me to find cover art easily and can be set up as a catalog in Aldiko.
It can do a lot more than that, but it only does ebooks.

check out AudioGalaxy for music.
i just got it yesterday and it is AWESOME, if you are trying to stream your music from your computer. used it on my droid eris at the gym today. all my music (30+ gb) no space required on droid. and its FREE!!!

I set up VLC convert and stream last night and it works great for music/video. Nice thing is that it will transcode all of your video to h.264 so that it works on the Nook, no need to convert the video. Most other servers need you to convert the video to an NC compatible format. It worked with every video I tried: mpg, avi, wmv. It also allows you to use the Nook as a remote for your computer, which is pretty sweet. The free version will transcode up to 480 width - pro version allows 640 width and picture support as well. I may end up purchasing it as it's nice not to have to copy anything to the NC. If I can get it to support recorded TV shows from media center, it'll be perfect (I think it will, just need to change the extension).

Yeah Cailbre is awesome. I like how it auto finds covers if you put in the ISBN

eBook server access
Hi,
Calibre (open source) (http: // calibre - ebook . com) is great for organizing
the eBooks on PC end, getting covers, reviews, tagging them etc.
You can download and manage eBooks on the device mounted as a drive
directly from Calibre, or upload them to Dropbox for later download on the device.
There is also a paid app on the Android end "Calibre Library" that works with
Calibre to pull books to the Android device. Still under development, but very
usable. It can search library, sort by author, title etc.
Peter

I setup my calibre library folder as folder within Dropbox. Every book I have is now easily accessible from all of my devices. My calibre library is only about 500 megs ...

[Q] Music Streaming app

hello,
I have been looking for an implementation to stream my music collection so it doesn't take space on my phone, it needs to work over 3g or else it would be useless. i have looked but i have not found any app.
i'm trying to stream my music from a NAS so i can turn my computer off and still listen to music.
any suggestions, it doesn't have to be free apps.
I use subsonic. It works perfectly and has a nice interface.

I second this. Make the cache size much bigger too. All the music you play gets saved on your sd card (Until the cache size is reached, then it starts deleting the old stuff). That way you can play it in the stock music player for offline use.
I'll chime in for the triple play. I run the subsonic server portion on an Ubuntu machine in the basement and get seamless 3G streaming when I travel (most of my music is 320k). Running it without a dedicated comp, however, I do not think is possible.
Thanks i will try subsonic as soon as i can
Another vote for Subsonic. In addition to music, I've pointed my subsonic server at my audio books directory and can grab any of my library any time.
Add in MortPlayer Audio Books and configure it to look at Subsonic's audio book cache folders and you've got your audio book library on the go coupled with a great 'books player.
I just found and am using OrbLive client on my Vibrant with Orb Caster server running on a Mac on my Lan accessing the music from a shared disk on an XP machine. The Windows version of the server also works fine but my Mac is mostly idle and has better uptime. The Server is at orb.com and the client is available at the App stores.
The Server is free and the client is $10. Not cheap as apps go but works well on 3G with tolerable response time on selections. Does video, pictures and documents too. Simple to setup and easy to use with a no-nonsense user interface that serves my purposes (listen to my home library on my phone) quite well. Of course I will be suggesting a few improvements but who doesn't.
I'd mostly like to see an equalizer put in either at the server or client end.
BTW, OrbLive also works with the Winamp Remote server as well. Winamp Remote is a rebadged earlier release of Orb Caster.
I have no affiliation with Orb. They don't yet know who I am.

[How To] Video Streaming with FTP

I am going to go through this as quickly as possible. I was not overtly sure where to post this; however, I have the Rezound and it is what I set it up on.
A little about my historical background: I started with TVersity and used that for a long time prior to getting my Droid. I upgraded to the OG Droid and when Flash finally hit I moved over to Orb. I hated the app and always received better quality from logging into mycast.orb.com. However, the quality was never something I was overtly fond of. I eventually switched to PlayOn as they had the added bonus of Netflix and Hulu but the horrid additional cost of a yearly fee. Quality was much better though. Netflix and Hulu released their own apps and PlayOn seemed a bit useless other than accessing my local media which, while not great, was free with Orb. I eventually did switch to the spinoff of XBMC media server called Plex. Plex is awesome. Streams anything to the phone and does a pretty decent job. The only down side I found to Plex is its tendency to make it really hard to find anything. It auto stacks movies. Having a whole folder dedicated to sequels such as Spiderman Cd 1, Spiderman Cd2, etc. I discovered the only way to watch Spiderman 2 was to load Spiderman 1. I could either rename every movie or live with it. No no no, not going to work even if Plex costs just $5 and streams my bluray mkv files. Needless to say, I have “some” experience in this. So let’s get started:
DOMAIN
If you are like me and are not willing to pay for a static IP address and you have to power cycle your network as it’s quite large – you seem to have a new IP address at least 4 times a week. Head on over to dyn.com and sign up for a free account.
Once logged in - go to “My Services” and click on “Add Hostname”. Pick something that you’ll remember or just write it down for now. Host with IP Address and Activate. Assuming you have a windows machine head over to dyn.com/support/clients/windows/installguide/ and get the Dyn Update Client (any other OS still head over to that link and click your OS on the left). This will update the domain name to the new IP address assuming you get a new IP address. There’s a How To Setup guide on that page so I won’t go into it. Assuming everything was done correctly your domain is now tied to your IP address.
FTP
Going to assume you do not have a FTP Server already setup on your PC. If you do, skip this and move on. Otherwise, head over to filezilla-project.org and download the Server. Install and Run. I know it’s weird, but when it launches it will ask to connect to the FTP Server, this is the local IP of 127.0.0.1. Just keep it default and move on. In the upper left there is File / Server / Edit / ?. You can Click Edit > Settings. I personally did not do much on that option. I kept it passive without SSL. Up to you on what you want to configure here. We will click Edit > Users.
GENERAL : On the right at least add yourself. Enable your account, give it a password, CHECK BYPASS USERLIMIT OF SERVER, make sure both options under this are set to 0 (meaning infinite).
SHARED FOLDER: Add the directories you want to view. Once added RIGHT click on the directory and select EDIT ALIASES. If you do not give the directory an aliases it will not show when you FTP into it. I personally set an empty folder as my home directory (it’s the one with the H next to is) and that one does not need an aliases. The others; however, must! Set your permission levels, etc..
I did not touch the other two such as SPEED LIMITS or IP FILTER.
PHONE SETUP
On your phone download the following:
ES File Explorer (Yes you “can” use Astro or some other File Browser that has FTP but I prefer ES)
MoboPlayer (the one by Mobo Team – there’s a ton of plugs ins if you want to explore.)
In ES File Explorer swipe till you see FTP Servers. Click the Menu Key > New > FTP (or SFTP if you configured FileZilla for that)
Server: Remember that DYN domain name? That goes here. Eg: Nickname.dynds.ip.com
Port: 21
Mode: Passive (unless otherwise configured)
Username: The Username you added to Account in FileZilla
Password: The Password you gave to said Account in FileZilla
(I do not allow anonymous logins)
Encoding: Leave Alone
Display As: Some name you would like to ES File Explorer to use to represent your FTP.
Click OK.
Tap your FTP in ES and your Folders that you added on the FTP will appear on your Android device. Navigate around to confirm everything works. To stream video, long press a movie and choose OPEN AS > Video > Mobo (if you select it as the default action, future quick taps will launch the video in Mobo)
RESULTS
I’m on 4g and for one reason or another it does seem to take anywhere between 3 to 7 minutes for the video to load. But darn it! It’s a start. I’ve tried the following players :
Rock Player = Force Closes
MX Video Player = Kind of works and kind of does not
Mobo Video Player Pro = Doesn’t work
QQPlayer = Does not even show up as an option to play as
VPlayer = Same as QQPlayer
The only player that I have had consistent successful trials over 3g and 4g is the Mobo Player by Mobo Team. I’m open to ideas on how to cut down on that load time though.
This does work. There’s no need for Cifsmanager to mount the network drive (and then we would have to have root) and or to download the whole file over FTP. It does stream and the quality is actually better than TVersity, Orb, PlayOn, and Plex.
The DYN Domain name works with other things as well. I control my utorrent with Transdroid and use the Domain name.. so really, just that alone has been awesome.
Hope this helps some people and like I said, I’m open to suggestions to make this quicker!!!
Thanks for info, I already have everything setup previously (ssh on my linux box, es already installed and i have my server already added in) at but I'm not in a 4G area so I can't test it out.
The only way I can think of transferring files faster is compress the video more or increase your upload speed. How big are the files you're transferring and what's up upload bandwith on your server?
The whole point was that you don't transfer the file, it streams. Following the method layed out above - the file streams over the internet via FTP to your phone.
For heavy users like me, FTP is much better than the cloud at the moment. Those File Size limits just will not do for me. Anyway this is a very interesting thread; I already have FileZilla set up using DD Wrt and the awesome NAT Port Forwarding. I tried with MX Video player but it seemed to not want to load up. Going to try with MoBo.

I have a great app for my Ipad (i know i know) lol -- that does streaming nicely over wifi or even tethered to my previous 3g cell... I just upgraded to a 4g android... <---- which is amazing
So to let you guys know what works with this... It's more then just having this all set up! I have noticed that it does not like HD content... but on a 3-4inch screen sd content done right does not look bad at all... lol
Presently i loaded the latest ES File Browser and also MX Player from the Play Store (aka the market) when i add my FTP server with a feed of 20mb/1mb to my 4g cell running about 15mb/8mb it streams files that are under give or take 450mb converted to .mp4 / .avi perfectly with no lag or oos sound... Give it a try and let me know what you guys find... But the most important thing is that the file size needs to be give or take 450mb or smaller otherwise the buffer does not keep up!
Have you tried Subsonic? I'd be curious to see how it compares. It can be set up to transcode and reduce bitrate on the fly. It does have it's own Android app though it launches movies through JWPlayer on the browser.
The server side is a java based app with web interface for management and you can play back music/movies through the web page.
I use it to primarily stream my music collection to my phone but it works for movies too.
Save your time... download DICE player Ads
I have been searching for a player to stream video from my FTP server in my house for months.
I tried various FTP servers and players and nothing worked.
Less than a month ago, I found DicePlayer Ad in Google Play store/market.
search for:
pname: com.inisoft.mediaplayer.trial
Now, it says there is ads, but they have presently only included a place-holder (with no live ads) and the name 'trial' also seems meaningless because full functionality is included.
I won't bother explaining how well it works in detail because it's damn near idiot proof. If you're tech-savvy enough to want to stream media from your ftp server, you're tech-savvy enough to be doing so in less than 2 minutes using this app.
I just wish I could find a windows based solution that would work as well as this app. Any movie that I have tried to play, every format, starts to play within approximately 30 seconds. Navigation requires about 5 seconds of seek time. Embedded and subtitles in separate files work. I tried emailing the dev to ask how this works but got no reply, but the speed of navigation leads me to believe that it could not cache much of the media on my device.
I also use this app for video media on my sd because it has all the features of any other player I've tried. I use Music Folder Player Free for music (pname: de.zorillasoft.musicfolderplayer) in case anyone's interested.
Love it... also... anyone know an app that will stream movies over ftp on windows 7?
Yeap I'm still trolling this thread. ^_^ I'm still using Plex. I've had to change some of my file names and completely re-did my TV shows. I still get the best quality streaming from ES File Explorer to Mobo.... but I still have the issue with the HORRID buffer, play, buffer, play... utterly unwatchable.
I get pixelation with Plex but by far the best Computer to Phone quality. After about one or two buffers of about 15 seconds, it streams pretty well. If you have a Jetflix account, its simular in picture quality. Very watchable but not perfect.
I'm trying this Dice player... Took me a second to add my FTP, but its taking forever and a day to list my videos... If it cache's the list I'll be kewl with it. I'll update with my findings on play back.
FTP to PC Windows 7. VLC should work. Have you mapped your FTP to your machine? I'm still using dyndns. I can map my .com to my windows 7 machine at work and it streams. The PC thinks the drive is local. Can take about 10 to 20 seconds for the video to load, but plays perfectly. Let me know.
This is amazing info

I'll have to try FTP. Before I just used CIFS to see network shares from the computer over Wifi (VPN didn't work worth a damn on Gingerbread.)
I finally get ICS with proper working VPN, but now I can't seem to get CIFS working.
Anybody know how to get CIFS properly working on the Rezound? I don't think there are any kernels with support yet.
I don't know if using the FTP server I am is causing the issue or not but no-dice about Dice player. I set it up and it shows the connection on the PC but it never stops trying to scan. I set up a test account with a single video and still just sits there trying to scan...?
Rezound and Cifs - We need an AOSP kernel with it. AOSP as it will address my other issue. Cyanogen has it built in... so it's a matter of waiting for CM to come to the Rez with a functioning ROM.
This and Wii remote connections are my only real complaints about HTC devices. Superior to some as at least HTC unlocks the bootloader (looking at you Moto).
Diceplayer has native FTP/HTTP/SMB support.
But Diceplayer dose not support Passive mode FTP yet.
You did not need to use cifs.ko or ES file browser.
is the another free alternative to dyn.com?
They don't have it as a free service, although they have a trial for a few days free they start to charge you after 14 days it seems.
I dont go for the "free" trials where you are required to give credit card info
Edit: I'm going to try no-ip.com see how that goes
Edit 2: no-ip.com works it has a free personal account option that doesn't need a credit card and works great for this
I can access my NAS box via internal SMB share or external FTP but whenever I long press a movie -> play as -> movie -> select player
The .avi file refuses to play. The stock movie player, MX Video Player, ES Media Player, and MoboPlayer, none of them can play the file.
But VLC can stream the file perfectly fine on a windows machine.
EDIT 1: I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Nexus
EDIT 2: Mx Video Player now works over LAN stream with Software Decoding only for my Bleach AVIs
EDIT 3: DicePlayer works with default encoding over LAN stream (supposedly using Hardware decoding) for AVIs
EDIT 4: DicePlayer doesn't work over 3G / 4G FTP streaming
EDIT 5: Mx Video Player works with Software Decoding over 3G / 4G after small buffer time. Was smooth when it wasn't buffering which was maybe every 10 seconds or so. File was 175 megabytes over supposedly 4G. Only need 150KB/S to play the file so not sure why buffering was necessary since 4G should easily sustain 150KB/S
EDIT 6: DicePlayer isn't playing some MKVs over LAN: 8 Mile and American Gangster
EDIT 7: MX Video Player isn't playing audio from some MKVs over LAN: 8 Mile and American Gangster
EDIT 8: Both are playing my Death Note MKVs over LAN with audio and subtitles
ftp streaming
FTP stream video to Galaxy Nexus from home over 3G
Home Router - Cisco Linksys EA3500
Simultaneous Dual Band N750 with Gigabit ports and USB
Plugged external usb drive into USB port on router
Setup FTP share for the drive on the router
Opened ES File Explorer
Setup connection for FTP
When ES File Explorer has a connection with the FTP shared drive, I select the folder with the shows in it.
Selected American Chopper.avi (348MB), the got an open with dialog box, and selected BSPlayer Lite
So BSPlayer Lite can stream from FTP
The video did not stream smoothly, but I'm on Wind and the data speed sucks.
Speedtest.net test was 1.16Mbps
Can someone with a good data connection try it and post the results.
Works on my arc s, through hdmi to monitor with external audio.
But phone screen always enabled.
VLS - smooth, but with step-by-step seek (without direct).
BSPlayer lite - works less smoother but with normal seek.
After days of researching why my ftp streaming wasnt working i finally figured out it was because of ES explorer unable to handle streaming, no matter what app i used(some worked better then others but none was near usable.
With that i finally found a suitable one called Antek explorer on the google app store. You would need the ftp plugin and 3rd party video player(mx player).. All streaming now works perfectly.
Have you guys tried BubbleUPnP? Streams music, pictures, and movies over WiFi or 3G very well. MX player works best for me as renderer. 3G requires bubbleupnp server software to be installed on you pc,but is free. App has a free version with streaming limitations to try it out. I use media player11 on win7 four all my media but there are many options. I like free

Reading EPUBS?

Hello again lol, was wondering...I got a collection of books and most of them are the usual standard PDF's but some are called epubs. Was wondering what I needed to open those up for reading? Thank you in advance for any help I love this community!
the nook reading up can handle epubs just fine as that is the format i use most of the time so no problems with reading them.
oh so just use the default nook reader for those?
You could use any app that supports epub files to read them and i was just letting you know that the nook natively supports the epub format
pretty much the only device/app that cannot read epub is the kindle/kindle app
get calibre can convert any format ebook to any other format....
In addition to the Native nook app, Overdrive and FBReader and Overdrive Media Console (both in the Market) can read epubs. Overdrive is good for reading DRM-protected library books, but it doesn't change pages as smoothly as the native reader. FBReader can read just about anything.
I was reading standard e-pubs but got tired of the changing font size from book to book. I downloaded calibre (it's a book library manager) and used its built in converter to change my epubs over to .mobi format. I then opened these in the kindle for android app. Much more text control and easier to read format. Worked for me.
is there a reader program that can adjust font or letter size without pinch zooming?
Aldiko and Mantano (both great readers) support font changes without pinching.
Rodney
funny, i have mantano and couldnt find that
Not sure why. Mantano stock config supports menu (tap page to bring up menu, choose display, raise or lower font size) and gesture (swipe down) resizing.
Rodney
Im sorry I just looked through it again and just dont see what your talking about. I cant find anything that says font. I went into display and theres just a zoomer and couple other things that have nothing to do with the font.
Calibre
Is it free and can you get the Calibre apk somewhere other than the Android Market?
For epubs I use fbreader. If you're going to do PDFs, ezPDF pro is the best app available, hands down.
I use Aldiko Pro and Calibre (to manage my books). Hear hear!

Successful PC to Tablet video streaming

I just yesterday rooted my tablet (Thanks for all the help via the videos Albert, donations are coming your way when payday hits!) and managed to sideload all the apps i wanted. But, what i really wanted was to be able to stream videos from my media pc to my tablet, like i do via air video on my iphone.
I did a lot of looking round and couldn't find anything. Until i came across Mirage Beta which basically COPIES the functions of Airvideo. So long as you have air video server installed on your pc and Mirage Beta on your nook tablet (Android Marketplace says its incompatible, but mine works just fine) then you can stream the videos to your tablet with perfect synchronicity and over air/on the fly conversion. Absolutely rocks.
So, if you're looking to do the same, download air video server to your pc. Select the files through air video server where your videos are located, then download mirage beta to your tablet. Load mirage, it'll detect the server and away you go!
I use skifta which does the exact same thing but doesnt use airplay as its a DLNA client sever setup and the server isnt that resource heavy on the pc. and the market has it compatible with our nook tablet
I think it generally isn't all that hard to get going if you use the right apps. I use UPNPay and MX Player (it streams to whatever player you want) in conjunction with my NAS's UPNP/DLNA server and it works great.

SMB Movie Directory Lister?

Hi Guys,
I had a thought, whilst trying to look through the Google PlayStore for a DNLA Server app to play some files both off my Android Device and via the NAS Server I have connected to my Router. But unfortunately couldnt find a decent enough App in the PlayStore that catered for every feature I want, and thought...
1) Wouldnt it be AWESOME if the CyanogenMod team include a built in DLNA Server into their current roms??
and,
2) (This is where I am hoping a talented Android Programmer viewing this post may step in...) It would be really useful to have an App that can scan your NAS (or whatever other storage you have), and then list all the files (especially movies) as to:
a) What folder they are in
b) What name the file is called
c) How big that file is in size
d) What format, codec, and resolution
... and so on!!
Some Apps do show some of this information, but not all of it... And so wondered if anyone could code such an App?? Sure it wouldnt take a talented programmer too long to write a file scanning App that could create/output to txt, csv, html reports..??
Does this sound like a good idea??
Cheers, Lister
Anyone?
hi mate,
in wich form do you serve the media on your nas?
You mentioned that you have searched for dlna progs on google play, whats with BubbleUPnP?
Its working fine for me. Or do you have a smb connection to your nas and just want to scan there for movie files?
In this case wouldnt a good file manager be enough?
Hi @clonednull,
Thank you for your reply, and interest....
1) Not sure what you mean by "which form do you serve your media on Nas" ?
My media is various movies (DVDs mainly) that I've ripped in MP4 or MKVs of TVs and Films, stored on a QNAP NAS for easier viewing via my TV (networked) but also on Mobile devices around the house....
2) DLNA Apps on GooglePlay, much like uPNPBubble
True, there are many Apps on the PlayStore that support DLNA, but I guess I'm being a tad fussy here.. I am looking for something that has the looks, elegance and features, such as 3D carousel view of media that can be flicked through, but then clicked and pushed to DLNA devices. I am looking for an App that can push local (on my Android device) as well as networked media (such as my NAS) too the TV. But it all comes down to looks, and so many Apps either look dated, or the ones that look good dont work with local content, and only networked content...
3) SMB Network connection to NAS
Not too sure on the networking side of things, just know I have a QNAP NAS, that works fine when connecting/viewing via the TV. However an App such as "FX Explorer" on the PlayStore views the NAS connection as a SMB.
However the App I am looking for, to connect to my NAS via an Android App... I would like it to be able to scan the directories, count how many files/videos are in each directory, be able to tell me their file sizes, the file formats, their dimensions (ie: 720, 1080, 352 and so on) and then if possible, be able to export this data to the SD Card as a report, beit txt, csv, html and so on....
Basically so I can audit my data/content, so easy to browse and so on....
I did start to look at File Managers, rather than SMB scans or Movie Collection Apps... But cant find a single App on the AppStore than can scan my OWN content, and list it in the format that its recorded in and so on....
If you know any Apps, I would be very grateful...
Many thanks, Lister
Lo @Lister Of Smeg!
Aha so you want a viewer / streamer / dlna client + server / media list scanner + exporter for all specific file informations and this all should be wrapped in a fancy 3d look.
I'm afraid what you are searching for will not be found in one app.
As before mentioned i personally like BubbleUPnP for dlna content and i use the default file explorer (wich is Solid File Explorer) to search arround in my smb content.
If you want a good looking movie library of your smb content check out apps like MovieFlow
A nice looking video player with upnp and smb support is also Archos Video Player
Last but not least you could try out XBMC for android. It looks nice, has a lot of features and also plugin compatibility for many things but it is somehow "overdressed" for most situations.
Check them out at their Homepage: xbmc.org
Hope i could help a little bit mate and wish you all best! :highfive:
Hi @clonednull,
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.... and thank you so much for your reply!!

Indeed, lol.... Yeah I appreciate Im not going to find summit that ticks all those boxes in one App.... :crying: But that wasnt really what I was after, I'm kinda after 2x seperate Apps...
1) A DLNA Player/Server, that can play both local content on my phone, as well as videos found on my NAS. With a CoverFlow kind of interface...
So many of the Apps will not play locally or if do, they pass the playing feature onto another 3rd party App installed. Or they dont have a very good GUI on them, and have something like that of a Gingerbread App... lol
I've tried the Archos Video Player out before, and I think that is awesome... Especially on a Google TV Stick. I bought my folks one of these for Christmas, and have it pointing to my NAS with all my films and TV shows... Looks beautiful and plays beautiful too...
Also tried XMBC, but on previous hardware it didnt really run to well as it wasnt designed for it, and so had a lot of crashes, but it was fairly early into the development days... Looks a lot better now on my phone...
Tried MovieFlow, had a few issues with that... Didnt really want to connect too well I think, and I think it maybe because of the English Database issues its having at the moment (or at least thats what the App says....)
Solution: I think maybe I'll ask the MoboPlayer team, if there is any likely hood of them adding a DLNA client into their App sometime in the future. As that App can play anything and everything, has a lovely interface for local stuff... and especially the CoverFlow. Just needs to add SMB scanning and DLNA output and we're sorted
2) SMB Directory Movie Lister, basically any App (Movie or FileManager based) that can scan SMB / NAS devices, read all the video files on them, create a report on: Folder Location, Name, File Size, Screen Dimension Size, Format, Totals.... and then be able to Output it to a file (beit Cloud based, or local SD Card)
I am really surprised nothing like that exists out there, despite how popular NAS storage is for movies, and even though some Movie Apps can identify such detailed info when scanning files on these Servers, why cant any of them do Reports, say Movie Collectors/Audits...??
But thank you for all your help, very much appreciated... as always!!! I shall update this post if I hear anything back from MoboPlayer team...
Cheers, Lister
