the tittle is the question, can i install on XFree10 beta 4 rom, a 2.3 rom(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364)?
should i update baserand? im running now 2.1.54.
it is of course possible, through flashtool or xRecovery
as for the baseband, u have to be really careful as some roms uses a different baseband.
so be sure u flash the baseband first before you flash the rom
He mentioned is possible, but backup your current ROM and try yourself

I'm attempting to install the new Zmod Cyanogenmod 7.1 but am encountering problems with xrecovery unable to read the SD/card when installing. Supposidly the new version of xrecovery will fix my issue but when I looked at the thread listed "2.3 STOCK ROM" as a requirement.
Now I cant update to the official 2.3.3 rom as im on O2UK, but I'm currently running Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 (on baseband 0.52) so will I still be ok to update to the new version of xrecovery?
Also just a quick question as its been a while since I installed a new rom, it's baseband first (any .71?). My phone will still be rooted, busybox still installed, etc, as I've done all this before? Then install new .zip via xrecovery?
(I've already read the newbie threads so please don't just point me there, simple yes/no answers will suffice. I'm just a little confused about going from custom install to custom install.)
edit: could this be a problem with going from a 0.52 baseband to a 1.71? This thread talks about 0.54 but could it be something simiar? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053221
install xRecovery-0.3 (GBready) using flashtool
Here is the guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196808
He needs to install baseband .71, better if he just installed gb and root it.
from 2.1 or 2.2 baseband less then 2.1.71
u need flash 2.3.x room 1st after that use flash tools flash baseband 2.1.71....
if from 2.1/2.2 u flash baseband 2.1.71 after flash the 2.3.x rom that xrecovery cant use anymore,
u neef flash via flash tool to baseband to 2.1.67, do it from 2.1/2.2 as well
7.03 android 2.2.3 baseband 2.1.67
7.10 android 2.3.5 baseband 2.1.71

So install the zmod 7.1 .zip through my current version of xrecovery first, then use flashtool to upgrade the baseband to .71, root and then install the new xrecovery (as in the first reply)?

I might give this a try first as at least I'll have a fully working x-recovery before I start. After I've installed it this way can I go back to my 0.52 baseband and CMod 7.0.3 if I want?

Well I installed xrecovery via the instructions on that link and my phone is now stuck on the SE loading screen. This is exactly what I wanted to avoid as my phone is not running stock 2.3.3. Can I have a fix please!
edit: Ok got it working by installing the .zip and flashing the .71 baseband. Thanks.

If you wanna use a lower bb then your best option if you wanna have GB is to go back to an old custom GB rom that works on the older baseband.
hi, you can do it, but be carefull, do it on your own risk!!!!!!!!
what you need is
flashtool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746&highlight=flashtool
baseband http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960527&highlight=baseband
i hope you know how to use flashtool, so when you have your favorite baseband its an ftf file, open it with 7.zip and delete the kernel.sin, so you will flash only the baseband.
now you are on your favorite baseband with GB kernel, but maybe you cant send sms, then you need an sms patch from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1177744
i tested only bb67 with GB kernel and sms patch on custom rom, and it works for me

It won't be stable unless you switch to a custom rom that supports the chosen baseband.

although this thread is different, the attachment works for you too.
flash it with Xrecovery after installing the rom you want. works for custom roms (genric roms i dont know, maybe).Make sure you only use Xrecovery below 1.0 (dun use 1.0, use 0.3 or 0.2 or 0.1)
it will change the baseband to 46 or 54 nt sure, but it does downgrade. but make sure YOUR ROM IS BASEBAND-DOWNGRADABLE or else your rom will be corrupted. you can also install a new rom AND FLASH IT RIGHT AFTER YOU FLASH THE ROM THROUGH xREC.
regards
I have an xperia x10i
Firmware version:2.1-update1

about ROM:
1) What is "Old BaseBand" ? Refers to baseband before you updated to gingerbread 2.3.3.
2) Those ROM's are good for my phone?

If u have android 2.2.1 u can root using gingerbreak.
to root download gingef break
den instLl rom managed
install recovery ( make sure u hve wifi / fast net )
den choose any rom nd kernel
juat make sure kenel version nd roms kernel eg. mik 6.6.1 can use .35 kernel but 6.5.8 can !
i m dont suggestin rom & kernel bcoz i m also findin nice one !
i hope i helped !
press thanks !
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
U can install both of the roms as they support old baseband and it is not necessary to flash a diffrent kurnel with a rom
Since u have 2.2.1 root using gingerbreak and u need to flash recovery before flashing custom rom it is the first option in rom manager.

yesss ...........
I currently run CM7 6.5.8 on old baseband. I am considering trying out a new ROM or two. I realize that to use CM9 or Oxygen I need to flash the new baseband – I undertstand that. However, I can flash PerfectPeso with my old baseband and flash the New BasebandFix by adfad666. My question is what does this New Baseband Fix do? If I flash PerfectPeso & the new baseband fix then decide I don’t like it, can I simply restore CM7 without worrying about the baseband? Or will I need to flash the old baseband back?
Also, there is no official install guide for PerfectPeso…can I assume it is the typical - wipe data, cache, then flash ROM then flash Baseband Fix?
Thanks for the help,
Baseband fix doesn't change baseband. You'll have to flash fix for every new baseband ROM you try but if you revert back to old baseband ROM then no need to flash baseband fix. Just flash ROM.
Yes its typical wipe data/cache/dalvik, all three.

just update baseband, Lg updated it for a reason =)
Use the guide in my signature
I flashed baseband using LG's official updater. The only downside is that it upgraded me to Gingerbread and destroyed my root ):, but luckily I used SuperOneClick to re-root and flashed the new baseband version of CWM which includes CyanogenMOD Nightlies!
