It changes your whole framework bartek, as the bar and pull down are but a handful of images in the midst of hundreds that make up the basic looks and feel of the current rom you are running. It is entirely possible, but unless its done on the framework you are currently running, it will change the whole look of your phone.

i run stock KB1 2.2.1 i think beta 2 so it has stock 2.2 framework i think

hmm.. just the pulldown? that's in twframework.apk
a matter of replacing 20-30 images? and most of the framework should remain intact though.

There are a couple of images in the framework-res as well, both files would be needed to do the whole pull down/notification area. If its just the top bar, then thats one png in the twframework to change I do believe.
Bartek has been barking up this tree for two weeks now that I know about. I think he can do it with a little bit of effort, but has spent more time asking for it than learning about it. The man changes roms more than a fickle woman changes her mind, the white bar requests would be hard to keep up with.

i get it ......i get it.....i do it my self .....never hurt to ask tho :]]

It can be done broski, we talked about it, but I was eyeballs deep in a ton of other things at the time. Are you wanting just the top bar, or the whole notification area?
Sent from my Loki powered Vibrant on the XDA App

whichever is easier for You , i take bar only if it save u time

broski reminded me of youtube video with Jägerbomb and anyone with hair like this gettin laid tonight

im out to work ill be back later got to let people breath freely and let them live i think they hate me lol

the easiest way is just use ninjamorph to edit twframework-res & framework-res and use root explorer to push into /system. However, just be carefully editing those .9.png might work - might not

[Q][REQUEST] DarkEdge UI Theme for Eris

If the creators of DarkEdge were to give the OK, would someone here be able to port this for the Eris running CM6? I've sent a note to see if we can get permissiion to port it.
DarkEdge UI Original
DarkEdge UI 2.2
DarkEdge UI Gallery
Edit/Update: Thanks to the hard work of KagedIn, we have a port!
I tried the Hero MDPI DarkEdge UI on CELB 3.5 and got boot loops. I also tried porting the theme over (for personal use) using Theme-Porter and Update.zip Creator. While both scripts completed successfully and created a valid update.zip which installed wonderfully on my device, nothing changed.
I've never attempted to port a theme before, so I'm sure that I'm missing some very important elements here to be able to accomplish this. If anyone out there who is more experienced is able to port this over (with permission, of course), that would be really, really cool
I was able to use Asimmons DarkEdge port for the Hero Asimmon's big theme porting thread and TheDeathly's Universal Theme Porter to get this working on the Eris. Some things aren't working well (black text on black buttons), but otherwise it's pretty beautiful.
I wasn't able to get an update.zip that worked, so I pushed everything over manually using adb. I have not yet heard back from the DarkEdge team as to whether or not I can officially post the theme, so no links at this time.
I really don't know much about theming, and I know Asimmons could use some help working out the kinks with the black text and some other things - so to my great and wonderful Eris themers, if someone wants to either take over or help with this project - please take the reins!
Cool, great job. I'm very interested in this as well and will be glad to help.
I was just thinking over the weekend that I guess I'm gonna have to start figuring out how to theme because it seems like all the good dark themes are getting neglected these days.
I want to keep up with latest froyo, but I want my dark flavor as well......
Hey I'm working on porting this right now, I've made some good headway but still far from a release I'm attempting to make it into a metamorph theme I'm at least a couple days away from working most of the issues but if anyones still interested I'd be willing to post it when its finished

I'm in! I've been able to get a good chunk of Asimmons hero port working on my Eris, but the work has been mostly manual at this point and definitely not something that could be metamorphed or zipped.
Have you got the text thing figured out? I'm downloading the theme and the porter right now and following your footsteps.......I will probably have some questions though if you don't mind.

After some research I found a lot of people with text color issue in porting this theme so instead of trying to change the system font color which is a very difficult task I used a simple workaround to make all buttons popups and menus readable
The hardest part is done IMO so ill hopefully have a full version ready by the end of the week
Sent from my Floyo Tazz using XDA App
I was thinking the same thing, it would be better to change the button and chooser backgrounds rather than trying to figure out how to change the font color. I tried just about everything in the .xml files in framework-res.apk, but wasn't able to make a dent myself.
I'm so glad that you're working on this - definitely deserves a beer BTW, are you porting the default gold or another color?

I really appreciate the work both of you are doing on this.....I was messing around with it last night and realize how much time it takes. I think I'll still work on some theming myself just for the fun of it, it is really interesting. But knowing this theme will be ported over, and working on Floyo, makes me .
Thanks.
I don't know if you're using an hdpi to mdpi converter, but it'd be really, really cool to get the icons in here too:

Wow, 1200 views - we're all like popular and stuff
LOL - I think around 1100 are my views....
Any progress?......I've been messing around with my phone and got a few things changed up. Icons, phone skin, pop up skins, fun stuff, but time consuming. I'm going for a battery change today.
Is there any thing we can do to help?
From my Eris on CELB Froyo
Hey guys sorry for the silence on my end I'm a couple of days away from having a working version up I hit some unexpected roadblocks with some of the system apps but I'm working through it lol

We NEED More THEMES!!! :: Pa'lease ::

I've been helping buddies get rooted on their phones and one thing they always want is a custom theme... because of this I research and find good (professional) ones for them, and there are MANY to choose from.
I don't expect people to start fresh, but can some of these be ported?
Bring the Vibrant some Sexy-Time.
Black Froyo is amazing... wish there were more options
(especially ones that played well with Nero too)
Back in the game and I've really just started using widgets to customize if you dont mind losing some battery life launcher pro plus is awesome for this
Nerov3 voodoo
^ check out some other theme sections and you'll discover what I mean.
Example:

Looking at that made me want a clear swype pad
Nerov3 voodoo
I agree but beggers can't be choosy. I would love to learn how to theme however I never find the time to learn with so many things going on in my life. I read somewhere that junkdruggler will help you theme if you ask. Hopefully next Monday pr Tuesday I can start to play with new themes and morphs.

I know good and well where my skill set lies, and it's not with themes. I can beg all I want to, just hope it benefits ALL of us.
Just a heads up, a basic theme for the Vibrant will involve roughly 750 image edits in order to make it consistent enough to feel right. That isn't even getting into app specific edits to fit the system theme.
You think it's possible if we all share these files in PSD and edit them from there? The only thing I know how to do is edit pictures on Photoshop which I usually do. I haven't even tried edit .9.pngs but i'm willing to do it if it's not that time consuming either.
That would be pretty awesome if we had a shared dropbox folder or something.... shoot, I'll try and learn!

[R] Request - List of Single Mods?

So there is now a general list of most of the kernels available.. but what about Mods? Stuff like the modified boot menu (which I just flashed ). It would be nice (if possible) if there were a list of single/individual mods for things that people randomly have preferences for (e.g. 4 or 6 bars for signal strength and circle or regular battery etc).
Anyone else agree?

this is too hard to do as every rom has different frameworks, apks etc. cant really make a "general" mod that will work for everyone.

Nonono not a general mod! A list of mods that each do single, specific things.
*edit* nevermind I see what you are saying. But would it be too difficult to do something like the Mod for the expanded boot menu? There were only two versions (one for deodex and one for odex) that worked pretty broadly.
agreed would be nice...but sooooo difficult!!!
what's a mod???
a single icon change??? how about a group of icons??? transparent pulldown bar??? how bout translucent pulldown??? theme's, icons, skins, deodexed, odexed, sense, non-sense, aosp...
it's just too much

I was thinking about just that. I'd need to learn everything from scratch (not sure how to do any of it) and only have relatively basic knowledge of programming. Only a freshman in college! Don't have much free time but I will definitely get on it.
for a second there I thought the OP was looking for moderators who were single.

[Theme] Black and Yellow theme with revert.zip V2.2 Black Settings menu added.

I am very new to some of this stuff. This is my first theme and I hope you like it. I used UOT Kitchen and The framework and systemui apks from the Quantum theme. I wanted to keep the notification toggles in. I hope to be theming the dialer soon and adding more tweaks. Thank me if you want, but I won't be upset if you don't. Give thanks to Jokersax11. I used most of his stuff to put this together. I just wanted to contribute in some way. Please enjoy and don't forget to let me know what you think or give any ideas as to what you might like added. I make no promises though as to what I can get done. Also launcher wallpaper and clock not included.
Note: this is not a Pittsburgh Steelers theme. I am just a fan.
Version 2.2
Added Black Settings menu.
People to thank:
Jokersax11 for his properly working update.zip files (mine never work. lol).
Also for the skinny rom as this would not be possible without it.
Thanks to Motempo for his notification toggles.
Also thanks to Rangerby for bringing the notification toggles to our Mo-phos.
Sorry for forgetting you guys.
KTT16 for his dialer. I just gave it the yellow infusion you craved.
If you want a good Steelers dialer to go with it then head on over to Admiralj21s' page and get his. Also don't forget to thank him.

Overall I think the theme is good. I think that the battery indicator. Color could flow with the rest of the theme better (maybe start yellow and fade to red?). The blue vibrate/silence icon looks out of place as well. I find the font difficult to work with also, but it is available without so that's great.
Thanks for your hard work! I'll look forward to the updates.
Oh, like the boot animation as well.

Redesigned the theme and have to say it looks better. I will update tonight. New additions will include better battery icon, notification drop down, themed lockscreen and settings menu icons from htc. Going to start on the keyboard this weekend along with other things as I work a lot and don't have much time throughout the week.
Nice job! I don't personally like a black & yellow theme, but if I were to like it, this would be my theme! NICE JOB!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

Thanks. I plan on making many more. I was going to do a black and blue theme, but Ktt16 beat me to it. lol I just learned to do the .9 pngs so it will allow me to further my theming abilities. Most of it is easy. It is the .9 pngs that give you trouble. You need the android sdk, java jre, and eclipse just to edit them properly. Took me about a week to figure it all out. If you want to edit lock screens and some other system and framework icons you will definitely need all those things. I was getting tired of not having the kinds of themes I wanted on here, so I just took it upon myself to learn it. I am still learning, but would be glad to help you.
Just updated again. I will try and slow these down. lol
While I do appreciate any effort towards Photon development.....I gotta say man...this theme is terrible. The screenshots of your home screen are muddled and lack any sort of order. The colors are inconsistent and ugly and the notification and lock screen icons look like crap.
Sorry for ragging on your theme and homescreen setup but it just needs alot of improvement. Keep at it man...you'll get there...try being more minimalistic with it. Only mod what you need to...not everything needs to be completely changed.
Once again I apologize for being harsh and thank you for your contribution.

Well I have been working hard to polish it. I am not offended by your statement after reading your previous posts I have come to the conclusion that negativity is just your nature. Instead of hating on my theme you could take the time and make a nice one of your own. That is if it doesn't eat into your time ragging on other peoples work. I asked that anyone give me input about this theme if they flash it. I wonder if you even tried flashing it or just looked at a couple of screenshots and made your decision there. If it's not appealing to you, then go on to the next theme that does appeal to your liking. Also I am still new to this stuff and as this is my first theme, I know it won't be my best. I however am very proud of it and I think I should be. Instead trolling around here looking for something, I took it upon myself to make my own. What have you done except waste my time by having me put together this reply.
Dude, that was really f'd up man. How was that supposed to encourage more people to theme at all? make your own theme and see if that kind of criticism would be helpful to you.

[REQ] Tut on baking in mods to your ROM

So I see it all over the place in cm9 and aokp, and many many more
all these ROM's have there own custom options built in and i'm curious as how to do it...
I've extracted the control apks from different ROMs to take a look through them in order to try to get a better understanding but I still don't have a full grasp on this... Anyone care to elaborate?
CM9+AOKP are built from source and the options are literally "built" into the Settings/whatever apk. The other one's are either custom made Apps for that ROM or smali edits I'm guessing. It's not really something one can make a tutorial for.

Well that's what I'm asking, how do you add these settings into a say I wanna use aosp and add custom settings, what needs to be done? I know how to edit the settings apk to allow an extra spot for the customization menu but would I just add the pngs for a battery mod to the appropriate apk then write the code to select it or what? I've seen generally how it works but again idk the fine details because I can't get it to work, when selecting the option for the desired mod nothing happens :/
