What's your next phone? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please vote which will be your next phone and why?
Galaxy S
Optimistic 2x
Motorola atrix
Nexus s
SE Arc or Play
HTC desire s
Or others

i think that Desire or Arc

nexus s
because of this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=883

I`m think :
1- SE ARC
2- LG Optimus 3D
or HTC Desire S

I think the Arc will be my next one, maybe you should add a poll will be easier..

My next phone will be arc I like timescape
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk

maybe arc not sure about it yet
and one with WP7

To early to decide yet...

Atrix or desire s if I was to choose now... But I'll keep my x10 for a while longer and who knows what might be out by then.

Im going with Arc....unless WP7 releases a phone with a camera the same as or better than the X10...then ill be going all for WP7 from now on.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

im gonna keep my x10 as long as i can i just got it and i love it
but i would proibably take an arc if i had the choice

I personally get the arc. Cause Sony Ericsson build is awesome. Especially our x10 is soo tough. It even have ran over the bus if u search the forum. When it comes to update already have the 2.3 what else you need?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

^^
Good luck trying that with Arc
Its slim and not as tough built as X10

Won't ever be a sony that's for sure. I'm stuck on this for another 16 months. thinking if getting a phone outright next time..
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

gonna try Motorola phone this time.
Sony phones look great like a supermodel girlfriend.....but give lot of problems

Ive a year left on my contract so maybe something 4g! Nexus 4g if it will exist then!
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

i just got this phone for couple weeks
so yeah, the next "5 years" won't changing any phone since i have no $$ alrd
Phone here are freaking Expensive, i but this x10i for RM1400

Arc. I cant wait for it

I would say the next phone I would get would be a dual core HTC phone. Hopefully qwerty keyboard (probably dreaming on this one). I love the build quality of SE, but I want a phone that's easily hackable (ie. unlocked bootloader). The atrix has a locked bootloader from what I hear. I would consider a Samsung if they up there make a dual core nexus.
Sent from my X10a using XDA App

I will wait for Nokia's WP7 phones.
I've had enough of Google blocking everything for my country. I can't use Gmail, Market or anything Google-related on my phone. This is absurd.

[Q] What phone after the Vibrant?

I want to see what phone people here will be getting after the Vibrant.
I personally have had my vibrant for about 2 months, but after I heard about the HTC Sensation 4G (actually didn't hear about that phone till yesterday), I decided that I'll pay full price for that phone.
What about you guys?
I know that some people will be getting the LG G2x tomorrow, but I won't. I personally like HTC Sense, especially HTC Sense 3.0. And HTC has a better track records then Samsung when it comes to updates.
I think I might end up on Sprint. I can get a good deal on a plan and only pay 5 bucks more, which would end up being for texting.
Probably gonna switch in august. Whatever is the most dev supported phone they have then.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Honestly I think I'll be skipping this generation of phones. The g2x and sensation are nice but there is nothing about them that makes me feel like im lacking with my vibrant. Development will take some time to get going for them also while we have some nice stuff here in our dev section.
Also my contract is up this year and I dont wana renew until the dust settles from all this att/tmo business.
I'm definitely going to consider HTC. Sensation. Gonna have to play with one. I'll check out the Samsung, but it seems the HTC might have more going for it. I'm not due for an upgrade so I'd have to be very impressed.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
Since im low on money im going for a mytouch 4g the devs over on there side is cooking up lots of roms there and it has and ffc , really wish i could get the g2x thou but like the guy above said we should wait to c the dev work and about the sensation i think it has locked bootloader so it will take long to get that cracked
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I'm waiting for the SGS2, seems to be the only phone t-Mobile is getting with a screen larger than 4in, and 4 isn't quite cutting it for me
Sensation is 4.3 afaik.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
Getting the g2x. I like vanilla android.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
going to att merger time yurp im getting the real desire z or atrix but theyre already talking bout sense 3.0 on it
My next phone would be like 2 years from now. So maybe phones will be quad cores by that time.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I was considering the HTC but it's ram is < 1gb so it'll be SGSII for me. Well, that and the benchmarks on engadget show it beating the crap outta the Sensation. Touchwiz 4.0 actually looks pretty good as well (can't believe I just typed that). Maybe Samsung learned from the mess that the original Galaxy S line was. The only thing I'm currently worried about is if the telcos in the states gonna ask for variants again; I really hope not because I'm sure that's what cause a lot of trouble for the updates stateside.
My next phone has to have a 4.3 screen a ffc, flash and hdmi out. I wont settle for anything less. I'm actually still pretty happy with my vibrant. My wife has a Mytouch 4g, it may be a bit faster but my wifi range is better and my web pages load faster in addition my screen is way better.
Ahh. Lots of different phones that people want.
I personally don't want Samsung anymore (TV's, that's a different story, I have 4 of them in my house. ), and I like HTC all around.
If I don't stick with T-Mobile (still contemplating the sensation), I may have to surrender to the Sprint, since they have TRUE unlimited/uncapped data.
Some people in hong kong complained about dead pixels and phone was acting slow on the LG 2x. Might wanna stay away from that. Even without hearing such thing, I am still all over the. SGS2 for the spec. .
Going with the Sensation.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Galaxy S 2 ftw!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Im pretty happy with my vibrant. I was pisses about the updates until I rooted. I think im gonna stick with the 4 inch screen. Its the best fit for me. Tmo G2X looks promising. I have more than a year left in my contract so im gonna wait and see what's up with the phone scene ag that time.

Yes it is. SAMOLED+
We just got a new froyo build, so the Vibrant may be headed for a Gingerbread release. If it does, I have no reason to get the Sensation.
If I were switching now, I'd skip the HTC Sensation and SGS2. The G2X seems to be a much more capable phone than either IMO. More importantly, I wouldn't want any Sense or Touchwiz crap on my new phone.

[Q] X10i ot HTC Sensation

USA T-Mobile customer here.
After a year of trying to make the Xperia X2 work for me, many many troubles, I got 2 phones and have a decision to make: which phone to stick with.
I got the Xperia X10i for free and paid $200 for the Sensation (which I can get refunded if I tried).
4g with the sensation is a plus.
Can anyone suggest other Pros/cons for each phone?
Thanks,

htc sensation !!
Well the sensation is amazing but i would keep the 200 dollars and the x10 in my opinion its not so so so much better that i would spend 200$ if i could just get a x10 for free
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
ok, just imagine you're a girl, would you choose a middle age man with limited options (x10) or a now young popular guy with all the best options up to date (sensation) ? no brainer question, dude..lol
Neither....HTC are garbage...they release a new phone like every month...all there phones look the same....there just isnt a thought process anymore. Hey, lets put a little bit more ram in here....slap sense 3.0 on it and call it a sensation. Hey lets add s slideout keyboard and call it a mytouch 4g....sorry htc just suck.
X10....I love this phone....I can obviously diss it as well....but with the arc out....gsg2 out....id save a few bucks and get those.
Thats all im gonna say about it now. Its my opinion....

Just need some advice from the Family.

So after spending MONTHS trying to train my wife to be an android lover. One of her clients GAVE her an iPhone and now she's sold out. Fine. Not a big deal ...because I HATE the iPhone...I am a firm believer that over all the android is a better phone . But its hard to make that point..when she's holding the iPhone 4 and I'm holding my LG p509. Now of course ivlove my Opt BUT...I'm gonna need an upgrade ..now I'm pretty broke but IV got a few bucks (USD) ...but what I DO have are two ..perfect condition LG p509 s. HERES MY QUESTION TO YOU WISE MEN (and ladies) is there any site I could trade my two phones in for a better One? Which android should I think about moving too?? And what would be the best way to go about it. Please? A little advice?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Okay, I do have to disagree with you just a bit. You see, even as a true Android lover, you can't say things like "Android is superior in all ways." Honestly, iPhone sales are not decreasing. Many people I know still enjoy using their iPhone because they find it simple. These people can't be bothered about what overclocking is and they already feel a great sense of accomplishment with Cydia installed on their iPhones
Here's just my 2¢ on what you should be looking out for your new phone. Firstly, you should get a phone with at least a dual core processor (powerful huh? Wait till you see phones running quad core ). Secondly, you would want a phone with a larger screen display. Let's be honest here. O1 is a very good phone (my first android phone) and I love it. However, I am unable to enjoy fully games such as GTA3. Lastly, since you're such an Android lover, do checkout the xda development page for your future phone. Surely you'd want a phone that is constantly being developed by a pro active community?
Have a nice day!

First, try to look on xda which phone has the largest developer (i don't how you will find it) and when you know it already see the specs at gsmarena.com

Get a phone that is exactly what you want.forget the specs.forget the media propaganda.find a phone that is the right size.is fast enough and dose what you want it to. The reason I phone users are so happy with their phone is that they are all the same.there is nothing that is different or even slightly special from any other iPhone.everything works the same and there is no chance of some individuality might cause a problem.
Get the phone that fits your individuality.be it Android or apple.
hi there mate, thank you for posting this as i have been in the same connundrum over the past few months.the things that concerns me when choosing a new phone are:1. unlocked bootloader as some phones shipped with locked bootloaders. this cannot be a good indication for future developments on the platform. 2. wheter or not the phone has a strong developer community support. i see this as an important feature to ensure that my mew phone would be able to stay fresh for at least the next 18 months.to be honest, i was so close to ditching my optimus one last month, having had the phone as my trusty companion for over a year. but the recent development in cm9 port for our phone (time and time again, the optimus one dev community has never failed to surprise me) had allowed me to stick with the phone for atleast another couple of months, enough time to see whats in store for us after wmc.
Btw , have u tried selling your two o1s on eBay?
The iPhone sucks at price, the only nice thing about it are the animations, you can take a phone with 2x the specs of iPhone woth half price

[Q] Is it worth to buy Sony Tablet S right now?

I have been meaning to wait for Xperia Tablet S 3G version to come out. But I'm tired of waiting, who knows when or even if it does come out at all in my country.
Not to mention the problem they're having right now. It can take ages to come out here.
Right now, there's only the Wifi version of Sony Tablet S that are available to buy. No 3G version. And the price for 16 GB one is about $480 if converted from my currency.
So I'm thinking of having Sony Tablet S 3G-16 GB version imported for about $570. What do you guys think?
I'd say no, the Sony Tablet S is totally different to the Xperia Tablet S - I felt that last years model was plasticy despite its good build quality and high price tag and the performance was poor.
Stick the wait out and you'll be sure to make the right choice.
absolutely not! other than the fact that tablet s (original one) hasn't that great build quality it has a lot of problem in term of modding.. i would go for a samsung tablet if you are interested in modding..
Id say yes! Is an excellent tablet.
The xperia tablet s production is stoped because a defect in the construction

Thanks for the feedbacks, I think I'll buy it anyway.
I wanted to buy a tablet for a really long time now, and I'm not really a patient person
And I prefer sony cause it's not common (maybe some of you find it strange, but I'm just quirky like that )
I'm also almost buy a Sony Tablet S... but I guess, the Xperia tablet is really better - in many ways... and probably worth waiting for...

I agree that Xperia tablet is better than the original tablet S, but I really don't feel like waiting any longer.
From the looks of thing, it's most likely won't come out here until at least early 2013. Plus, there's no guarantee they will release the 3G version immediately. And having a wifi only tablet, here in my town, is just useless I think.
So, I'll just use STS now, and replace it with xperia tablet later when it comes out.

I got my girlfriend a Nexus 7, and although not quite as feature rich as the Tablet S, Root was so simple litterally a child could do it, it is soooooooooo much faster, and 16GB was plenty for her. 7 inch screen makes it sooooooooo much lighter/portable too. 32gb model will be out soon. Thinking of selling my Tablet S and get the 32GB Nexus 7 instead. I have litterally tried for weeks to get my Tablet S rooted and hate the propriotory connector, etc.
My 2 cents worth.

Should I buy Motorola Atrix 4G or Sony Xperia Sola?

Need some advice; should I buy the Motorola Atrix 4G or Sony Xperia Sola? I plan to use it with Straight Talk AT&T.
I'd go with the xperia if you have no other option. The Atrix has better specs but you'll at least start out with ICS on that and likely get JB later on. Moto has all nut abandoned the Atrix and aside from a small patch coming soon it has little life left before it's ancient history.

No, I'd rather have a phone that can be upgraded. I love the Atrix but for 'financial reasons' it's been ditched by it's manufacturer offering virtually no further support.
Although there is a slight possibility of an agreement whereby we may be able to get source for the upgrades, there won't be any official upgrades. To me there is no excuse for such poor support of a device. Particularly when you consider far more complex computers receiving updates sometimes a decade or more after it's release. I do give at least some respect (even though I shouldn't) for the fact that they dug themselves a hole to support far too many devices at once with a runaway release of newer ones each year which makes it logistically impossible to support them.
Get neither, wait for Motorola X. Should be as cheap as Nexus 4 if rumors are true.

Definitely not the direction I'm going in. Seems a bit too much like rewarding them for failing to deliver on the updates and gives them more incentive to do the same thing all over again knowing that people will still keep buying regardless of how much they fail to deliver.

absolutely SONY,MOTO had lost customer‘s trust.
Xperia Sola.
Sony or Samsung.
Xperia Sola. It have much better support, plus, it will get ported stock JB.
If you seek for a latest update, minimal usage(surfing, text, mainstream games)get the Sola. Overall experience, I'd go for Atrix eventho it got left behind with Gingy..
The Atrix have tons of awesome hardware (fingerprint sensor etc) , nice build quality and better audio. If you're much of a customizing and not afraid of unlocking your phone, go for Atrix
Don't buy an operator branded Sony handset! Unbranded ones are great, and very well supported but going by my experience with a friend's Xperia U, branded handsets are locked down like Fort Knox.
Why not an atrix2?

Motorola isn't the only company that has screwed someone over. Anyways the Motorola X is going to be the first phone released with Key Lime Pie. So technically it's a Nexus without its branding, like the Xoom which got updates all the way til 4.1

They may not be the only company that screwed anyone over, but for a number of people, they are the one that made the device that people are currently stuck with no updates and the only reward for brand loyalty is mixing some shards of glass into the lube on your next purchase. What incentive do I or anyone else have to take another chance on Motorola?

I'm sure the AT&T Motorola X will come especially locked to prevent you accidentally installing a 'software update' if such a thing even exists. and for those who like to dig deeper, a special feature to shoot you in the face if you try to unlock the bootloader.
No thanks, never again. I won't give the company any money on principal, even if the next Nexus is a Motorola, and it's otherwise great.
That's why I'm going with the T-Mobile unsubsidized plans, and if it's as cheap as the Nexus 4 unlocked I'm going to get it.

Sad Motorola boycotter is sad to hear that XDA members will not be boycotting crappy companies who need to apologise for their crappy ways and sort this situation out by releasing kernel source at the very least.
They'll do it again, I'm sure. Don't get burned. I mean, they promised to change their ways just before cancelling the Atrix update.

Agreed. However, I was just looking at AT&T's current offerings, with the exception of a couple devices, their Android lineup is the most underwhelming thing I've seen since my LG Vu.
Edit:
T-Mobile's lineup doesn't look much better.
