Porting the Nexus One Honeycomb ROM - Droid Eris General

I really want honeycomb on my eris and the dev for the nexus one rom said that we can use his, i believe that it would be an easy port considering our phones are pretty much identical spec wise. Any devs willing to give this a try?

Sorry bro.. I would but its not guna be a easy port..atleast not for me.to much to do. Alot if resizing. Ect...

yeah that would never happen... someone should just do an SDK build

caugh*kaos*caugh

Isn't the Nexus One, hdpi ?

http://phandroid.com/2011/03/02/htc...-3g-and-g1-latest-to-receive-honeycomb-ports/
if they can port it to the g1, we have an epic chance of getting this working right

Interesting... but with Honeycomb designed for larger screens I'm not sure what the real benefits would be considering the Eris' 3.2" display.
Now Ice Cream... that's a different story.

It's HDPI and the Eris MDPI, it would take a s&@t load of work to get this ported to the Eris.

Well... I've done it. I put honeycomb on my Eris... but now its all sticky and I think I have honey in the charging port.

[Q] Froyo w/ Sense?

Looks like a number of Sense-based phones have been or will shortly be upgraded to 2.2. Any of our great devs looking into this? I'd be more interested in a Sense-Based 2.2 Rom than what we have currently. No offense to all of you. I'm currently running CELB Froyo and love it. I really like Sense and the HTC components as well.
Thanks.
Careful, I asked the exact same question (when the desire 2.2 with sense was posted) and got reported for it.

I remember that now. I was trying to recall what your question was. I hope I don't get in trouble. Just looking for something that isn't currently offered.
Thanks.
Quick question... whyd you get reported? Pm me if you can't say why on here.

Yeah I remember that also. Some dude with 10 posts thought he was a big man on campus.

This is all I wrote, and I was reported immediately by several users:
I know it's possible now since there are Desire and Incredible ROMs running Sense on Froyo, so I'd be very happy if a developer could figure out how to port one of those to the Eris. Obviously they're different screen resolutions (and the Desire is GSM instead of CDMA), but it must be possible. Thank you in advance!

for the same exact thing. posting outside of the designated area. no ones trying to be mean. . . just trying to keep things in the correct sub forums.
Whaddya think...
Dare I go over there and ask the devs if it would be possible to have a Froyo ROM that will play nice with a partitioned SD card?
(Not to run apps2sd, which is partly irrelevant in 2.2, but just to ease the process of flip-flopping back and forth between 2.1 and 2.2 ROMs)

In all honesty I think that out very possible. I might be talking out of my butt though. One possibility would be to take the HTC stuff and port it to froyo. It could be intresting to see what could happen.

thenestor that's absolutely ridiculous that you were reported... people are crazy sometimes.
Anyway when an HTC phone gets sense officially it will get ported I'm sure.
But that has happened. I don't recall the models but there has been a couple already upgraded officially.

senseui
Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks to me that the best chance for a FroYo w/ senseui rom lies in porting senseui from one of the mytouch3g devices as they are running the same resolution and 16-bit color.... Since this is the only phone 'officially' slated for upgrade it looks to be the most promising avenue.
The most exciting aspect of senseui imo.... FlashLite... by far the most missed feature in the 2.2 roms IMO

I don't want to ask that question either, but I do. I reboot too much for Froyo a2sd. I love the roms but I'd love to see a cyanogen a2sd. Add that to the now working camera and you've got a perfect daily use rom.

Can this rom be ported?

I have this on my incredible and its super fast. Feels very lite. It is a 2.2 aosp rom, so I'm thinking, easy on system resources. So I'm wondering if this could be useable on the eris. Would be nice.
Check it out...
Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or-9T44Bt7M&feature=player_embedded
Sent from my Incredible using Tapatalk
Possible, but impractical. Since the incredible has an hdpi screen, and the eris has mdpi, every single graphic has to be manually resized. It's possible, but it would be a nightmare. Maybe someday an automated solution will be created. That would rock!
Not gonna lie, that UI looks pretty legit. I would defiantly flash if someone ported it.
Yeah, that's got a really nifty UI... I want.
I would love to have this ported too...At first they said it worked on Desire but I thought they meant the desire that resembles the eris. I am almost tempted to go with a desire just so i can root and try out that rom...lol.
I've been drooling over this rom the past couple days. I rooted my buddy's dinc and was checking out roms for him and saw this one. It would be SAWEEEEET!!
Not that I have any idea what I'm talking about when it comes to porting (like at all), but could something like this be of any help? -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785864
it could be ported alot easier if the res on the screens was the same as ours, if the made that for the legend we would get it but most likely it wont happen. :/

Go to the incredible forums or the nexus one forums its being distributed there. I didn't think it would be that difficult given that my favorite 2.2 eris rom cyanogen tazz was ported from a nexus one build.
I'm running this on my incredible now. Its marvelous. It works better than sense running live wallpapers. No lag at all. It should run exceptionally good in the eris. Some one start a donation drive for someone who can port it.

cyanogenTazz wasnt ported from the nexus one, it was from the hero or the g1 i dont excatly remember but not fromt he nexus one
Oh yea! My bad. Kaosfroyo I think was ported from n1

I was just in the Legend forum and somebody has ported the HTC Wildfire's froyo with sense. It boots up but is not fully working yet. But it looks like the light at the end of the tunnel is getting a little brighter
Edit - Oops, I just realized this isn't where I wanted to post this lol, sorry!

Nope, KaosFroyo is definitely built from source by Kaos, specifically for eris. I think maybe v1 used code from the N1 dump, but there's really never been a functional eris rom ported from an HDPI device like you guys are asking for. People just don't do it.
I want it NOW!
Wow that UI is insane I want it. If anyone decides to port it or try ill add to donation

Any plans on Sense 3.0?

With the introduction to HTC's flagship phone with Sense 3.0 does any developer plan on working on a rom that has implemented once its released? Saw the small video about it and am in love
Devs are still grappling with Froyo Sense, so I think its safe to say it will probably be a while before we see this.
If it's not coming to the Evo and DInc do you think did you think it would make it's way to the Eris

Support has nothing to do with it. The ROM itself is nearly larger than the memory the Eris has. The EVO port barely boots.

[Request] Screen rotation animation?

Is there any way someone can make a mod for screen rotation? Or at least point me in the right direction? Something that's smoother and has more of an animation, more like the Omnia or iPhone? I know you devs are working hard on a LOT of roms right now for the thunderbolt. Thanks, again.

I would like to see this too. I've been jealous of my wife's Droid X animation.

I second this, I thought it was just a stock Gingerbread thing but I guess not? Which is funny because the CRT animation is stock on the Nexus phones, but didn't come with Droid X 2.3 lol so its like each side is missing something.
If someone could put this in though I would be infinitely happier. Quite frankly I am shocked that Cyanogenmod doesn't have it already.
+1
I have to wonder why they only included it in honeycomb??

Somewhere around the 4:00 mark or so you can see it. All Motorola Gingerbread builds have it, and it must be in there somewhere to port over.
Anyone?

More the better! It also seems like the Sensation guys are having a crack at it, but that may take a bit more time since their device doesn't have the HD res.
Nice. I saw the post about having to resize cuz of the 720p display and I couldn't help but think somebody would be porting this over. Thanks for the heads up!

Don't expect stuff too soon. As I and others are looking through it it is alot different.
Yeah I from what I hear from the Sensation guys the fact this is nvidia Tegra 3 vs qualcomm we are can make it a bit harder to work on(even harder for the sensation guys as they have to downsize things too).
Yeah newt will have 6 of these roms up by weeks end
Well from what Joel has seen it maybe harder than anticipated because of the nvidia cpu on the Endeavor. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22438151&postcount=297
I was disappointed in seeing that it was for a tegra device... but I am hoping that it will not be too difficult. But it seems it will be too difficult to worry with. Maybe pulling the apks for sense 4.0 apps and using them in the existing android 4.0.3 ROMs will work though.
According to Joel in his ROM thread, this won't be done. The Endeavor and the Rezound are too different.
