My vibrant recently stopped charging. I've tried different chargers and batteries and it won't charge. Soblong story short I'm sending it in but I'm running bionix 1.2.1 and pretty much everything isn't stock, literally everything. So there is 5% battery left so should I factory reset or try to flash a stock rom within 3 minutes? If so which rom. Please and thankyou guys
Pop in someone else's battery and ODIN JFD and then JI6. Read Vibrant bible for instructions.

Soft brick it.
I can't soft brick it. I talked to them and they now the issue is not being able to charge and I can't use a friends battery because none of mine have a sgs variant
Whats wrong with ODIN'ing back to stock? Oh, and nice avatar pic
A factory wipe will reset Bionix-V back to the initial state and will not turn everything back to stock. And 5% battery life is too risky imho. You really need to find someone who has a Vibrant, swap out batteries and flash the stock firmwares. JFD is the original firmware that had been shipped with the earlier releases of Vibrants. JI6 is an OTA update to JFD, and later versions of Vibrants have been shipped with this firmware. You can't flash JI6 alone, you need to ODIN JFD with 512 PIT file with repartition option checked. Then ODIN flash JI6 without PIT file with repartition option unchecked, of course. This will make your phone completely stock.
I'm sending in my Vibrant as soon as T-Mo ships me a replacement this week. The search hardware touch-sensitive button failed to light up, and T-Mo would replace it. I have JI6 firmware and am patiently waiting for the replacement phone to arrive.

If it was me I would just flash a stock rom. When who ever the phone gets sent to gets it... they will check the port then pry wipe and thats that.
I'm going to guess the port just does not work? Otherwise they would not need to worry about the battery level because the phone would take the power straight from the cord connected to the computer. Meaning no odin.

Ooh, I never thought about the fact that the micro USB port might have been fried after all. But if it was me, I would still try ODIN'ing anyway to see if it works even risking a potential brick. And as far as I can tell from flashing tens of times, the phone doesn't seem to charge the battery while flashing.
Not the actually USB port on my phone is fried. So Odin-ing won't work at all. Is there a stock ji6 Ota rom? If so I will just borrow a battery and flash that....
i would just say "f it" and send it in the way it is....you can't connect to the phone via odin cause the usb port is bad, hence you can't charge....

About to do that lol but if I borrow someones battery is there a stock ji6 ota rom I can flash?
here is a link that was in the "bible for the JI6 official. no root" rom...
can't post the link.....too much of a "noob" but check out the "bible" in the dev forum, there is a link for 2.1 eclair roms in the OP....should take you to the JI6 .rar
Can I flash from 2.2 to 2.1? Haven't been on eclair in ages, and yes I know to disable voodoo before the flash
you wouldn't be flashing just that rom....you would need to "odin" your phone back to stock using that rar and a .pit file, the 512 .pit file....you need to check out the bible to get info on odin, and how to do it....you can't simply "flash" from 2.2 to 2.1 because kernels are different....someone correct me if i am wrong...

Why not flash stock 2.2? i know there is a rom for it floating around some where, otherwise just flash a stock ka6 rom and use a stock kernel, and do a internal sd wipe

Sorry for making this long. I am totally flummoxed/sad/angry.
My phone has been hard bricked for the 3rd time in a matter of 8-10 days. My vibrant was a hardware locked one when I first got it. Let me explain a brief history of what flashes have been performed on my vibrant:
1) To unlock my Vibrant I flashed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201
Result: This helped me get Download mode working by pressing Vol Up + Power. But recovery mode was no-go. One thing to notice was that on boot, the screen now says GT-i9000 for a few seconds and then a Vibrant screen for few more seconds.
2) Hence flashed this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804305
Result: Bricked. Phone wouldn't boot. Completely dead. Got it fixed by paying $50. Got it back with stock JFD, Download mode working.
3) Stock JFD, worked fine. Flashed Bionix Fusion final 1.2, Obsidian V2.
Result: All fine. No issues.
4) Flashed Axura 2.0.5
Result: Bricked. Phone dead again. Wouldn't even turn ON. I thought perhaps some random issue must have happened which resulted in bricking my Vibrant. I got it fixed from a local mobile repair-shop who probably jtagged it (or used RIFF box to flash bootloader).
Got it fixed again. Got it back with Stock JFD, Download mode working.
5)First thing I try is flashing Axura.
Result: Got the phone back today. Don't know why, but the first thing I did after getting the phone was rooting JFD, installing ClockWork, booting in CW recovery and flashing Axura again. Guess what, it's bricked again. Wow. Unbelievable. Anyone has any idea whats going on?
Sounds like the axura file your using may be bad. If bionex worked then obviously it must have something to do with axura. Are you wiping before you flash? Do you have any lag fixes on?
it could be a bad copy of axura as stated y not try to odin back to stock ur self maybe it could be something that ur doin wrong when flashing axura... i did brick my fone once but i odin back to stock n fixed everything
Is your phone soft bricked? Does it turn on at all?
Ya, I'd double check the images your flashing. Have you tried another rom yet?
PS. It's a soft brick, which Vibrants are easily recoverable from. A hard brick means you get nothing, it's a useful as a... brick. You can sometimes get back from those with JTAG interfacing.
I think its Axura 2.5.. It keeps doing it to my phone too...
You must really want that ROM to keep trying it after it had bricked you twice.

No. I do not wipe anything before flashing. And no lag fixes on. Directly flashing from JFD stock.

I'd say avoid the ROM, if others don't cause the issue. Does Axura include a kernel? You could try it replacing the kernel in the package with a different one before flashing.
Invest in the JIG IMO
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
^^Already done that. But it seems that jig helps only people who cannot get into download mode but are soft-bricked (i.e. the display is not completely dead)! Anyways, have given the phone for repair yet again! Planning to sell this piece of **** soon and get G2!
I think you need to stay away from fiddling with your phone.
Master provides md5 sum for every ROM he offers, if download is corrupt the md5 sum won't match and you just don't flash the ROM.
I am having the same problem, my vibrant doesnt turn on, can you point me to where can i have it repaired?? my vibrant doesnt turn on anymore after flashing axura....

There is no such thing as Axura 2.5.. We are still on Axura 2.2 (2.2.7.1 to be specific)
OP, I would make sure your .zip isn't corrupt.
Curious, If you are in India, do they use the Vibrant there, and do they have the same configuration as the USA Vibrant?
Assuming it is the same, when you download a Rom check the the exact quantity of bytes make sure they equal. Often when loading on the phone the phone will compile the upper number to a different sum, the lower number Must be the same.
Re-download what ever rom you want and make sure it matches in sum.
The problem appears not to be the ROM there is something that is happening/doing that is by the user
If you get a G2 you won't do much better. Vibrant is one of the toughest phones to hard brick. You won't last a day with a G2...the problem is not the phone, it's you.

Ok, I was restoring my phone to stock with odin following these stpes
Disable Voodoo
Odin to eugenes froyo that wont brick
sticks at vibrant screen
tried odining to JFD
odin completes but still hangs at the vibrant screen
I have tried with and with out repartition checked and I am able to enter and exit download mode freely, I have tried 3 differnt versions of odin and 2 different downloads of the pda and pits. Any help would be great.
EDIT, Odin is finishing at the pass stage when the phone attempts to boot Currently flashing the JI6 seeing if it works.
Still not getting anywhere, I have now tried to odin to eugenes froyo, JFD, JI6, all which end the same with out a boot screen, I can get download but no recovery.
From my understanding when you flash eugenes froyo that wont brick the boot animation should change to the international one, mine has not done that so I am starting to wonder if there is an issue with the flashes themself.
How long did you wait after flashing the stock firmware? The first boot usually takes a while after an Odin. Did Odin finish flashing everything to the point that it said restart in blue?
You can find instructions to revert to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
I've gotten myself out of some pretty bad "bricks" with JFD and ODIN... make sure you also use the stock .pit file and you can check repartition, use JFD and should fix you right up.
I have waited for 10-15 minutes after it says restart and then sometimes after it says pass, and I have done to jfd and stock pit.
left phone at boot fell asleep woke up hr or so later still at vibrant screen, still cannot access recovery but can access download mode.
To OP. What custom rom did you run before flashing back to stock? Have you recovered?

Rooting your device and flashing custom roms onto it voids your warranty from t-mobile. You are wasting your time trying to see if they will help, This is NOT in their job description. They might laugh at you.
@OP Try flashing to a TRUE stock firmware, I personally would not flash from a custom rom to another custom rom, does that make sense? You should go back to t-mobiles legit 2.1. There is a link in the Bible here under the Dev forum. But, The link is broken. So Ive uploaded it here http://www.mediafire.com/?8kw71bx06an0vwg
Don't give up on odin yet, try things like changing your usb ports on the computer, this has worked for me. I also have a video tutorial using odin, it might be of some help to you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10207377&postcount=1

I am in the same boat.. tried ODIN + stock ROM from various sources, nothing seems to work.. am I out of luck ??
so im trying to help my cousin out he wanted me to return his phone to stock because he was having issues with mms and gps. it was on one of the bionix roms i cant remember which version thou. so i was reading all this morning trying to figure out the best way to unroot and odin seemed to be the easiest. i followed this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475) and everything went perfect and when the phone began to boot it showed the 3 boot screens (samsung vibrant, pink stick together, then the blue one with the lil jingle that says galaxy s) and then the screen just goes black and nothing happens.. i have to take the battery out and i can still get into download mode and the android system recovery but idk what to do. ive tried redoing odin back to stock but always the same outcome. for the past 2 hours ive been non stop searching but cant find anything that will help if someone could shed some light on what i need to do that would be awesome. ty
I'll grab the link in a minute and post it for ya. You should try flashing eugene's froyo that doesnt brick via odin, let it reboot to recovery. Pull the battery, boot back to dl mode, then flash the stock jfd via odin selecting repartition the last flash. Be sure you can get to dl mode with the volume button- plug in usb method before flashing the froyo that doesnt brick, you'll need to boot back to dl mode that way after the battery pull.

When the phone is rebooting how long does the screen stay black, after the first boot of changing a kernel or any system files the dalvik cache needs to be rebuilt and can take some time (upto 5 minutes) on the first boot. My suggestion is to make sure and use jfd tar file and 512 pit file and then just let the phone sit for about 15 minutes after odin says pass. Once you get a pass from odin the phone is going to work unless something in the tar or pit files was damaged. Just let the phone sit and all should be well.
thanks for the quick replys im going to try both suggestions now and ill get back to u when i find out if they work

The only official 2.2 we have for the vibrant wasnt released as an ota. You can snag it through Kies or KiesMini, but it was my understanding that it messed up some peoples sd cards. If youre looking for 2.2, and you want it as stock as possible, your best bet is to dl and flash one of Whitehawkx Ka6, KA7, or KB1 roms in the developement forum. My Loki build is 2.2, but far from stock, and we have a bunch of roms out here that are going to run better than any ota update.

I upgraded to super clean 2.9.2, but baseband shows up as DI01. is that normal, or did mine not update?
Only Odin/Heimdall will work. We don't know where the modem.bin goes, so we can't use redbend_ua or any other recovery-based method.
Modem(baseband) is not included in super clean. You need to update via odin pda button. DL09 and EB01 modems work well with the latest superclean.

oh...so do I just simply flash it through odin as pda? any prerequisites?
Here is a link to the EB01 Modem.
http://www.mediafire.com/?1r7uk6gf8d6s76z
You will need to use ODIN to install this.
Use the PDA button ONLY, navigate to the location of the modem file, click it, then run odin. Your phone will reboot and verify that you have the correct baseband.
If you do not know how to use odin I highly recommend reading this link

...thoroughly before starting with odin.
Good luck!

As long as you use the PDA button and have used odin before you should be fine. Its very straight forward. Just D/L the modem from my link and your good to go!
after I flashed through odin, there seems to be a problem with the battery...?
charge level was 51% before I flashed, but after it showed up as 100% instantly. what's going on?
I don't know the actual cause, but I would assume it has something to do with the battery stats more or less.
You might try turning the phone off and leave it charge over night and in the morning wipe the battery stats (search for this there are plenty of threads! ). Then drain it before charging next time. You should see the battery return to normal.
I wouldn't be to worried about it as I have flashed my phone(stupidly I will admit) at any number of different percentages and I still am getting great battery life.

Since I jumped into the xda forums after eb01 had come out, I've been trying to find a DL09 modem to use with Odin. Seems like most people are going crazy for thew newer basebands, but I've heard that DL09 works great with both GPS and battery life.
That said, you don't happen to have a working DL09 download link that you could toss on here do you?

Oh yes. I *have* used ODIN several other times, especially for recovering from some sort of boot loop and a few other issues, so I'm very familiar with the PDA button by now. But probably good to have that warning there in case anybody else reads this for help later on.
Hey all,
So I've been digging into this for about a week now and have come up with no conclusive results. I sincerely hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I've been experiencing random lockups and resets recently on EVERY rom I use, including all stock roms. I just don't get it. So I've been trying every rom possible and going back to stock, changing kernels, underclocking and overclocking, changing I/O schedulers, etc...
But what is really blowing my mind is that regardless of how many full wipe and restores I've done, my phone still seems to remember my wifi network and other random info. My question is this:
Is there a way to truly get my phone all the way reformatted to how it came out of the box? (blank slate with absolutely NO user date whatsoever)
If anybody can help me out with this, it would be so greatly appreciated.
Also, I have to manually update the drivers on my device everytime I put it in to download just for Odin to work with it.
follow the going back to stock section in the link...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
Yeah I've done this so many times its sickening. Appears the drivers are gone from my phone as well.
This may be a stupid question, but somewhere along the the way I guess my nandroid backup disappeared. Is it possible to use someone elses?

One thing to try is to back up your sd card to a computer then reformat it, then odin a stock package and see if that fixes things. Or odin all the way back to eclair (dl09) then flash your rom of choice. This was the only way I could get on cm7.

I'm in the process of trying this right now. Also, thank you for your help and for replying in such a timely manner. I'll post back my results.

You, sir, are a God among men. I don't know why but I odin'd back to dl09 instead of ed05 this time and reformatted my sd card and everything seems to have fixed itself. Crazy. Can't express enough gratitude...

Your welcome...Glad it worked for ya! I think dl09 is the best stock package to odin as far as clean install. I was having one hell of a time trying to put cm7.1 on my phone a few days ago...tried every stock froyo package and pwgb, but couldnt get the file system to convert. just a bunch of "can't mount system/data" errors. Finally decided to try the old dl09 package and reformat sd card and bam cm7 installed...which imo was a good indicator that some of the stock odin packages out there do not completely wipe everything.

Yeah that has absolutely been my experience now. ED05 ended up failing me in the end. I just never thought to use dl09 since it was so old but now I'm a firm believer it is the only stock odin package that should be used for clean installs. I had so many issues before this and now it feels like the first time I ever installed a custom rom. And zero problems as well. Thanks again!
Is Atlas pit file same for dl09 and ed05?
