HELP! Keep getting phone calls from myself. - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I keep getting phone calls from my own number. When I answer the phone nothing. I also occasionally get anonymous texts with no text or any other content. I am running trigger 2.6. Just curious if anyone has had similar problems or could offer any insight. Thank you

WTF?
Just ODIN back and start over... that sounds way crazy and not related to the rom. You may just have a bad app though.

Lol, ghost of the vibrant rom!!! Whooooo

You just got punked by someone using Bluff My Call .

hmm.. there's apps that fakes numbers..

Talk to your doctor and tell him the medication isn't working anymore and you need a stronger prescription.

The real question is:
if you called yourself, would you answer?!?!?!?

No, the REAL question is where can I get ME some of that!?!?!

LOL this is so funny

Replacing my vibrant

I have one of those vibrants that cant handle OC what can I do to the phone that falls under warranty replacment and get a new one?
And what are the chances that the new one is going to be a hardware lock?

I'm not saying you should you do this but this is what I would do .Call t mob and tell them your having connectivity problems (dropped calls not getting texts ,low voices over incoming calls lots of echos so on and so forth) then ask to speak to customer loyalty, explain the "problems"and they'll probably send you a new phone.....just saying thats what I would do im not telling you to defraud yourself or t mobile
I have no clue if the new one would be hw locked at all
Times never wasted when your getting waisted

Yep and when new phones and plans start costing more and more, we'll know who to thank!
Seriously, why do you want to overclock your phone?

[Q] How can I be able to call my wife again?

Hello, fellow GS2 users! I am in need of help. Unfortunatly, I am unable to call my wife's number anymore (which is a real shame). I am on Cognition 1.30, so I figured I'd restore to the previous cognition where things were fully functioning (1.20). Same thing. I'm not talking about the call going straight to voicemail, as it would do if the recieving end were turned off. When I make an attempt, I hear about a milisecond of the *call in progress* tone, but it then instantly disconnects. I can call other people just fine. It says 'call forwarding activated' or whatever, but it's always said that. Any tips / suggestions? Thanks!
Work out how you did it and post the info, you could make a fortune with this
I would pay

Maybe someone doesn't want to take your calls?..
I had same thing in that when I called my friend it would ring for a split second then cut off, he changed his rom and I was able to call no probs..so maybe it isn't your end that's the problem?!..
Did your wife activate call-forwarding on her phone ? Maybe she redirected all incoming calls to a non-existent number ?
Her phone is kinda wonky... its an x10. I need to put a new ROM on it.
It does sound like the problem is at her end. Check to see if she's accidentally black-listed you, or "accidentally" black-listed you

Try whistling. They are supposed to get you a sammich when that happens.
But yeah, on a serious note;
Try seeing if she's accidentally blacklisted you. And try seeing if the problem exists ONLY between your phones;
(Try calling another number from YOUR phone, try getting another number to call HER, try calling YOUR number from HER phone, and all other permutations and combinations until you get to know where the problem lies)
Thank you all. This thread has been awesome.
try checking if u had install any call blocker or droidwall that can blacklisted some numbers/id
if not do lemme know how you manage to do that so i can have good excuse not to call my wifey when i'm out with friends cycling !
I flashed a new ROM on her phone, which ended up fixing the issue, but a few days later, the same thing started happening.
Can you check whether your number is in her rejected number list?
I'd suggest checking if she blacklisted you.
Seriously, 39482049348 replies with the same suggestion and people are still replying saying the same . Including me, yay!
How does one go about checking that?

Damn...scary. and to think I've been trying to find a decent app capable of doing just that. Record certain calls. Anyone got any recommendations by the way?

It tough to say if there is a decent app out that can do that. Usually those apps only work well if you have them on speaker phone because the phones hardware is set up to not be able to record the other party directly, just what is coming out of your microphone.
One way to test is use the built in sound recorder app in the middle of a call. It does the exact same stuff as the call recorders.
Only way is using mic to record. Otherwise you need kernel support to record a phone call directly in android.

I'm not sure that it entirely correct, I'm pretty sure it is a hardware limitation that they put there for that reason, i could be completely wrong tho
Anyone know which System files would show signs of Any Hidden Spyware stuff?

BS, I wish there was an app that did this to all my calls automatically lol, that uploads remotely. (it'd be awesome as a future Google Voice feature)
Man I'd happily pay for an app like that.

at least a couple of times a week i will either answer a call or as soon as the person i am calling answers, a voice will say, "this call is now being recorded".
what the hell is up with that? its done it since i got the phone.

Either you or the other party has Google Voice & they pressed #4 on the dialer.
It makes that announcement (awkwardly loud) for legal purposes, since in some states/cities it's either: illegal to record without consent, at all or simply illegal to not inform them of the recording taking place.
Check this video out...
Anyone know where the Stealth mode files would be Located?

Interesting......
Seen a kernal somewhere that supported call recording... Somewhere in cdma development. And if you allow the permissions to mess with phone calls that is you being informed and agree to it, as seen when you download almost any app, just keep an eye out for the ones that say anything to do with phone calls,

sms not reading out names or text

Hi all.
First off a great site here. I am new to android (well not strictly true I did have the Desire when it very first came out and I hated it sold it after a week) Any way I am now converted to Android from Iphone. So I am a complete and utter noob
I have got the the S2 and what a phone, never miss a phone call or antenna problems on this puppy.
So my problem is when I get a text msg it only reads out the number of the person and does not read the actual txt. When I get phone calls it tells me who is ringing. This is a problem for me as I want this for when I am driving. Please help.
I have not rooted my phone yet as I said I am a complete noob. Does not look as easy as jailbreak.
Thank you very much. Look forward to your response and no doubt I'll get told off for reposting but I have looked now for 3 days
This phone can do this? I would like to know how to set this up.. I would love for the phone to tell me who is calling...please tell me how to do this...I am new to the Droid as well...came from BB...

Double press/tap HOME key to bring ON Voice Talk.
Turn ON Driving Mode.
Hit the MENU button --> Settings -->Scroll down --> Voice Talk Settings --> "TICK" Show body of message.
I suppose that should solve your problem
(It sometimes takes a while to read out the message depending on your connection..so plz be a lil patient Cheers)
Not really the same thing. There should be a way in android to have it announce who is calling or just texted you without leaving in driving mode constantly. Symbian used to have this, but I don't believe Android does.

I just use Tasker for this, though some would balk at spending on an app worth 5 dollars for a phone worth a hundred times that =)

I think thats technical issue. Idk anybody else xperience this but ur problem kinda strange thing to happen and never happen to my phone.
My guess is some kind of RF interference......had new tv recently and kept getting blocks on screen, turned out it was my boiler relay interfering every time the thermostat triggered on/off......and I'm guessing something is causing induction on your speaker in a similar manner
...
Hmmm mey be you right... So what you sugest me to do?

Hmmm it recorded from galaxy wonder. And i play them on my s3 you know what is the rison?
I have sent you new links on privet did you get them?
Well it's not a notification sound I recognize, almost sounds like the connection notification when you plug into charge, just wondering if damaged usb port is doing it, but that is just a guess.
Best advice is flash back to stock Rom with full wipe, and before adding your apps see if it's still doing it, if not then add apps a few at a time.
The other thing you could do is run better battery stats and see if that noise links to any wakelocks
