i have gosms, was texting, and suddenly my messages were "sending" (as in the picture of the mail icon was indicating sent via the moving arrow). and they never sent. i try sending more, but they all do not work. restart does not help. i try using stock messaging app, and when i open it force closes (which is why gosms probably fuxors up).
help? this is really out of the blue.
vibrant, bionix-v, kb1 modem if that matters.

For starters, you should have just reflashed the ROM and that should have solved the problem.
But download one of these and push to to system/app folder
or use root explorer.
download one of these--what are you referring to?

Okay so I've had this problem ever since I rooted my phone but have always just worked around it. If I send sms messages larger than 160 characters the person always tells me weird things show up some times with my text and some times in place of the text. I've been told @ signs show up and weird symbols. I've just used Handcent or Go Sms Pro to auto split messages. I'd like to know what causes this and/or how to fix it.. it happens regardless of kernals, roms, themes, etc. Any help would be wonderful.
My phone will sometimes change messages in to mms messages if they are long. I have never seen one where it has symbol issues. Try sending messages to yourself and see if it is a mms or split sms and if you have the smybol issue when a fascinate recieves it.

I just tried that. Never thought of it before lol I sent a message longer than 160 and when I got it it did split into two messages. Where the first page ends it has seven @ signs. Then the second message continues from where the first left off. At the end of that message there are eight @ signs at the end.
Replace the mms.apk (system/app) with another known good mms.apk. This is the one I use http://db.tt/MWXCHho and this is also the long mms conversion (960 characters)

Thank you very much!
I replaced the mms.apk and I still have this problem. I just gave up and decided to split messages instead of converting to mms

Did you delete to old mms.apk from system/Apps first?

Hey guys
When I get a text on my phone, and I hit the home button with the phone off, it shows the lock screen with 1 new message. So I drag that message across the screen like normal, but instead of going to that contact's thread whom the message was from, it goes to the last thread I had open.
What's the deal? I'm pretty sure my phone didn't do this before and only started recently.
Thanks,
Elliott
That is odd.. You might wanna try another SMS app though, Handcent SMS and Go SMS Pro are free and great apps. See if they work out fine for you.

Thanks but I don't really want another messaging app I like the stock one.
I have tried Handcent
Bump...10char!
make sure the messaging app had ended with task manager and reboot the phone. then test and out should be fine!
Yea I did that and it didn't fix it :S
Currently using Handcent as my messaging app (but have also verified this in the stock messaging app). Whenever I get longer type of texts from my friends (most using iphones) it shows as a MMS message.
Is there a setting I may have missed to stop this? It's getting really annoying.
Also, is there a way to disable that stupid slideshow when someone sends more than 1 picture in a text?
I text back and forth with my wife all the time... She has an iPhone 4S. I have never had any of her texts arrive as MMS unless they were that. I still use the stock app and running on the stock ROM unrooted. You said you verified this on the stock app, but was that ever before installing the Handcent app or only after?
As far as the stupid slideshow issue... I hate it too... Even if it's only 1 single solitary picture it will play the slideshow... Stupid... Not sure why, but I can't help with that.
Should be normal......... depending on how much you're typing. If you pass the length of 3 text messages, it automatically gets turned into mms to be able to send all of it in one go.
If you're typing less than 3 text messages worth and it still gets sent as an mms, you have a problem.

Ok so this has happened a few time on different roms. Currently I'm running rejuentive 2.1..
ok what happens is ill be in the stock messageing app and it will force close. I get a message something like "messaging has stoped unexpectedly" and I go back to my home screen. So I hit the messageing app icon and it opens and all my texts are gone. Sucks but whatever, so then when I get a text I can read it when I dropdown my notification screen then when I click it to reply or hit the messaging icon, when I get into the messaging app it says no texts available. But once I creat a new text to that person and send it I can see that whole message string but if I get out poof its gone again..
Any ideas?
Edit: just happened useing gosms. I downloaded go thinking there was a problem with my stock text app.

Mmhmm I have the same problem... What sms program are you using?
I'm using gosms and I'm backing it to their cloud every now and then. Really weird issue cause it has happened on just about any ROM I've used.

I am getting a glitch when using the stock messaging app. When I get a multimedia message (a message with multiple pictures in it), the app tries to play it as a slideshow. It tries to open it but nothing happens. Is there a link to another stock sms app I can download that fixes this bug? If I use Handcent, then I'm able to open or play the message as a slideshow.

I can reproduce this bug with the stock messaging app very easily. I am on Carbon Rom (4-28-2013) and s-off. If I go into Gallery, select two pictures, select share, select the stock messaging app, and send the mms message to myself, when I get the message the app won't be able to play it. Nothing happens when you hit play. It's supposed to play it as a slideshow. Using Handcent, however, the mms file is able to be played as a slideshow. Check it out and you'll see. There's definitely a bug with the stock messaging app and this ROM.

Try searching the MMS fix for CM 10.1, which iirc Carbon is built from. Some people found putting in the APNs through voice dialer helped. I personally used Go SMS Pro and it received mms fine. (However Go SMS has an option for your APNs if needed like the stock app, however adding it to the stock app didn't help for me)

I thought this fix was more for if people weren't receiving MMS at all. I think the OP is talking about receiving the MMS but the app won't display when you click the big grey play button. I've experienced the same thing running CM10.1 and Carbon while receiving an MMS with text in it, the app thinks it's a slide show and is presented to me that way within the messaging thread. When I click the play button to view what it thinks is a slide show, I can barely catch a glimpse of the picture until it blinks away then I'm left at the messaging threads.
It seems to be a messaging app or slideshow viewer problem rather than an MMS receiving issue. If I receive just a pic with no text I can view the image just fine and I'm not presented with the big grey play button.
I can't believe no one else has this issue...unless I'm misunderstanding the APN fix, but that thread doesn't sound like the same problems.

Yes I don't believe that is the same issue. I have no problems sending and receiving a MMS message. It's only when there is a slideshow MMS that the stock messaging app fails to play it properly. I have switched to Handcent to resolve the issue. If anyone knows of a fix please let me know. Thank you for the replies guys!

I've got the same exact issue with SlimBean. Seems installing a 3rd party app is the only solution. Annoying.
