[Q] Titanium Backup not backing up to SD card - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone running TB on the Atrix now and only getting backups to Internal Storage vs SD card? It shows the path on the Overview screen as /mnt/sdcard but it backs up to Internal Storage. Tried several different options off the wiki for it but it just shows "not available" as the backup directory on Overview page if I change anything. Is there an absolute path I can use?

Assuming that TB works the same on Atrix as on Captivate then /mnt/sdcard is internal storage. What you'll need to do is bring up Preferences and change the path to external_sd/TitaniumBackup . Hope this works for you.

Unfortunately, no. Tried that and it didn't find it. Also tried an absolute path of /mnt/external_sd/Titaniumbackup with no go. My guess is the "external_sd" part of the path is named something different on the Atrix.

You are correct, it should be
/mnt/sdcard-ext/Titaniumbackup

Excellent! That was it. Thanks much and we should add that to the wiki.

Noob question: Do you know if you can safely use the "get busybox" and "upgrade superuser" options in Titanium Backup - to upgrade su and since busybox is already present will it upgrade it? Thanks.

Help with new SD card and apps2sd.

I have just bought an 8GB card and need to swop everything across from my 4GB. I'm rooted with apps2sd and MCR ROM installed.
Now the questions are:
What is the best way of doing this the right way?
Do i need to partition the new card, or does MCR do this i cant remember!
If i drag and drop everything from my 4GB to my 8GB will it work?
Will it pick
Anyone else had to do this?
Any help will be very much apreciated...
Just been thinking if i install the modded recovery image on my new card will i be able to create partitions with that?
I take it no one has done this then?
are you using windows or linux? for windows, make a backup of your apps with some app on your phone. mcr3.0 contains "backup", which should do the job. after that copy everything from the old sdcard to the new one, which you already partitioned according to your needs. it is probably best to do this from recovery image or in an external card reader. after that restore your apps and you're done.
if you are using linux you can skip the backing up of apps, just copy everything from the two partitions you have on your sdcard (one ext2/3/4, one fat32) to the according partitions on the new card and you're done.
Cool thank you i will try that.

ok, i am seriously confused now. there was this app called "backup for root users". my understanding was, that it was renamed "backup" on paul's request, and was then included in modaco's custom rom. so far i can not find it in the zip of 3.0... so i guess i got something mixed up there, i apologise.
anyway, you can download it from the market.
edit: phew, i am not crazy

[Q] Help with titanium backup

Can anyone give me a quick tutorial on how to set titanium backup up on my atrix, i had it on my cappy, but i just need to know really where the actual files need to be on my sd cards, whether it be on external or internal sd. the way it was set up on my cappy was kinda screwey. i did better just saving the files on my computer once backed up, rather than saving the just to my external sd. im having a hard time explaining exactly what im trying to do, so any input would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edit: solution to backup to external sd:
go in to tibu> menu button> preferences> backup folder location> press back button twice> select sdcard-ext> then select the green "create a new folder"
titanium backup has its own site full of info on how to use the app. i would suggest going there and looking for the answers to your questions
As far as where your files need to be I don't really understand that part but if you want to know where the backup goes look like since our device is "unique" lol in calling the internal memory an sd card we can't set it to save to our actual sd cards but you can set it to go to your dropbox.
thats just my 2 cents

Copy and paste the TiBU folder to your external card or computer before flashing. Then after your done, paste the folder back to the Atrix's internal sd card and restore. I only restore user apps and not their data, restoring system apps/settings can cause problems.

When using Root Explorer on my Cap or Atrix or my roommates DInc there are 2 folders for SD Card, one has an "ext" indicating its the external card. The other 'SD Card' is the internal memory.
As soon as I get on a computer, I will thank you all, well except for whoever directed me to tibu website, j/k I've already been there though... I was just looking for real advice from real people. More device specific I guess... But that's all I needed. Thanks guys

You can't restore directly from Dropbox. The Dropbox backup is used to replace the files in your Ti backup folder on the internal SD card if they get wiped. If you lose the SD card backup, you sync with Dropbox in Ti, and it downloads all the apps back to your internal SD card, (the default backup folder).
I backup to both so I am covered all around. Works with the Atrix cos' I've had to use it.
Ti Wiki
its pretty much JUST like the captivate
/sdcard/titaniumbackup
which is a symlink to
/mnt/sdcard/titaniumbackup
there is no difference in that regard. if you want to save it all to the external SD you need to change the path in TIBU to
/mnt/sdcard-ext/titaniumbackup

Mounting SDcard

I'm having a hard time using apps such as rom manager. I'm getting an error message saying: The SD card needs to be mounted to use ROM manager.
I'm not sure where am I supposed to mount the SD card from? I tried mounting thru CWM (v.8), but that didn't make a difference. I'm using CyanogenMod-7.1.0.1 (GWK74). Android version = 2.3.7.
Do I need to mount the sdcard thru terminal emulator or something?
Thanks for the help!!

Don't use ROM manager on the gTab. Its been known to brick the tablet.

On CM7, the internal SD card is mounted at /mnt/emmc. Only if you have an external microSD card in the slot will it be mounted at /mnt/sdcard.
If you don't like this default behaviour, then recent versions of CM7 for the gTab has a toggle in Settings > CyanogenMod settings which you can use to let the internal SD card be used as /mnt/sdcard.
That Worked!
Thanks bro for the help that worked for me!
For anybody using CM7 and only having internal SD and needing to enable it:
Go to Settings --> CyanongenMod Settings --> Application and enable "Use Internal Storage".
I'll be uninstalling rom manager. Couple of questions:
1. When opening up Titanium Backup, I only see a black screen and it eventually FC's. Is that a tibu compatibility issue, or just needs fixing permissions? (I did reinstall the app but didn't make a difference)
2. Any rom recommendations for BL1.1? I got my sight on vegan ge 7.0 and evolver ferus 1.1.
Let me know what you think and thanks again for your help!

No idea. I don't use TB, so I can't say why it would FC like that.
Try going into Settings > Applications > ... > TB and first "Force Stop", then "Clear data".

[Q] Log folder getting full

Hi guys,
I've searched on the forums and found nothing that answers my doubts...
Yesterday my SGS2 was showing a "Memory Full" notification.
I've browsed through the folders and found a "log" foldet getting full with "logcat_cp_boot_radio_201303251248_35.log" files, with 1.2 and 1.5Mb
And there were A lot of them...
So, i've renamed the folder to ---log---, rebooted and after a while there was another "log" folder with a bunch of logfiles.
My question:
What process is generating there logs, and is there a way of disabling it? (wow that was 2 questions )
ROM: I9100XXLS8
Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you ever install something to get a logcat log? Or maybe, by accident, a kernel option?

As far as Î can recall, no. No Logcat app, and kernel option does not ring any bell.
Besides, if it is a kernel option, there must be an option to enable/disable logging, right?

Where did you find the folder? Just /logs or /system/logs?
Maybe your build.prop or init files will tell you something.
AFAIK you can delete them, then you can check when they are created. (Probably right after the boot)

Yes, it is just "/log" on the internal sdcard.
I'll check build.prop for any information.

Well, both are true.
My internal sdcard is getting full.
/system has 233Mb free.
I can deal with the logs issue, by deleting them.
Most of my apps are on external sdcard.

My Backup Pro externalSD path

Hi folks, I have spent the last hour or so searching the net on how to set my backup pro to use the external SD card for backups, have used the NextApp SDfix app to make the external SD card writeable & tested it by making a folder called test using Solid Explorer file manager. In the My Backup Pro app I have tried all the suggestions online for changing it to do the backups to the external SD but keep getting incorrect path change cancelled.
Does anyone know the correct path for example /mnt/storage/sdcard1
Many thanks in advance.
For ext sdcard
/Sdcard1/
Or
/Storage/sdcard1/
For internal
/Sdcard/
Or
/Storage/sdcard0/
For usb stick
/Storage/usbdisk/

Thanks for that but unfortunately that didn't work either. I managed to restore my backup by copying it to the internal memory but it still won't recognise the SD. Do you think a format might help?
Thanks again
