Anyone able to get Hancent SMS LED Notifications to work? It works with GoSMS but I can't seem to get it to work with Handcent.
Go to: Notification settings ---> Notification settings ---> LED flash frequency and set Normal, it works for me

I've been running Handcent SMS but it doesnt clear the default SMS notification icon from the task bar once i've opened the message.
Looked through all the options and cannot find a way to do it, am I missing something?
Cheers!
Open default sms app
Press menu button
Go to setting there you can turn the notifications off
Or just delete sms app with Titanium Backup

Ah excellent thanks!
I recently started using bln on the dead horse kernel. I noticed that bln only works for SMS with the stock SMS app. Its a no go with chompsms and go SMS. Is there any way to get blind to work with third-party SMS apps?
Vibrant + Darky 9.3 VE + Dead Horse Kernel + KA7 Modem + XDA App
Works fine with GO SMS for me.
Make sure you have LED notifications turned on in the notification settings in the app of your choice.
Works perfectly fine with Handcent, but I'm rocking the Overstock.

Click to collapse
That was the problem. Thanks!
where are the notification settings that you are talking about?
on calls it works for me but i cannot get chompsms working. =/
In the GO sms helped me disable unlock screen and disable screen on in settings -> notification settings -> default notification settings. You could try to find a similar setting in Chompsms.
I also don't have the option in BLN Pro to activate for SMS (i.e. Handcent). It only has notifications for Calls. How can I enable it too for Handcent?
Hi. I'm using MiniCM7-2.1.7 ROM over nAa kernel v9 (x10 mini pro)
Call vibration works fine, but sms vibration doesn't work. My vibration option is set to 'always'.
Any idea?
Thanks!
Could be your messaging app. I'm on MiniCM7Pro and the messaging app that comes with it has vibrate turned off by default.
u can use go sms pro which will automatically start vibration on ur mobile
if not go to the cm settings and sound setting and u can find notification settings where u can set vibration to ur notification which means messages
Thank you guys for your answers. I found an option (not cm settings) where the notifications vibration was off. Just opened stock messaging app and pressed menu button for settings. (((SOLVED)))
Now I'd like to know your opinion about GO SMS. Some months ago y tested it...worked fine for a few days, and then it blocked my incoming sms . It said that my sms memory was full, or something like that. I erased messages, and could not fix it.
Now I'm testing it again. I love the custom led color notification, based on recipient, and other options.
Did you guys have any issue with GO SMS? Do you recommend this app?
Thanks a lot!
I had a feeling it was the messaging app that was at fault..
I don't what's causing the problem with GO SMS, but it may be worth trying Handcent SMS instead. The two apps are very similar (to the point where you start to wonder if it's deliberate) and you still have all the options for customising your notifications.
Handcent doesn't have the social network bits that GO SMS has, but I can attest to its stability as I've been using it for the best part of a year without any problems at all.
Thanks Tickefish for your help.

I'm having trouble with Handcent and notifications - namely double notifications with the stock Messaging app (even when everything is checked off in the ATT app) and then the Handcent app can't wake the phone, just makes the alert sound, of which there's two separate notice sounds.
ALSO, no red dot notification on the HC widget using Go Launcher EX with Go Notification installed. Any ideas?
just go into the stock messaging app and turn off notifications...... i had to do it, and had to do it with gosms.
yes.. go into default messaging text app click menu,,scroll to bottom and disable notifications......then in handcent click menu>Applications setting> Default Messaging application >Allow All Sms & Mms ,for default..
Love the Inc 4G but cannot find out how to get the screen to turn onto the lock screen when I receive an incoming text message.
Any ideas?
Using the stock messaging app but also tried SMS Pop UP and Handcent.
Thanks!
I use Go Sms, which those settings are under Notification Settings
smsAwake, it's what i use! works pretty well anyways if you like the stock messaging app
tweaks will come
