Handcent Notifications - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I'm having trouble with Handcent and notifications - namely double notifications with the stock Messaging app (even when everything is checked off in the ATT app) and then the Handcent app can't wake the phone, just makes the alert sound, of which there's two separate notice sounds.
ALSO, no red dot notification on the HC widget using Go Launcher EX with Go Notification installed. Any ideas?

just go into the stock messaging app and turn off notifications...... i had to do it, and had to do it with gosms.

yes.. go into default messaging text app click menu,,scroll to bottom and disable notifications......then in handcent click menu>Applications setting> Default Messaging application >Allow All Sms & Mms ,for default..

Double SMS notifications...aarrrrghhh!!!!

Hello guys!
I installed Handcent sms and even I stopped default sms notification and forced stop to the default client itself, I still receive two sms notifications on status bar. Had to disable the one notification supported by Handcent and now is only the default one on which when I click- the Handcent client appears. Once I quit from Handcent, the icon is still on status bar, altough I've read the sms and have to close it via "close notifications" button...very annoying..
How to get rid the default sms notification?
Open "Messages"
Click MENU
Select SETUP
Uncheck "Notifications" - scroll down
Enable HANDCENT notification
You should now get only 1 notification

That was exactly what I did and still get two notifications..
Go to settings >apps >manage apps> messages > force stop!
Go into the default Messages app and make sure to disable Auto-retrieve (this will also help improve battery life)

Handcent SMS not clearing default SMS notification icon.

I've been running Handcent SMS but it doesnt clear the default SMS notification icon from the task bar once i've opened the message.
Looked through all the options and cannot find a way to do it, am I missing something?
Cheers!
Open default sms app
Press menu button
Go to setting there you can turn the notifications off
Or just delete sms app with Titanium Backup
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
Ah excellent thanks!

[Q] How to disable stock SMS app notifications?

Hi,
I have Go SMS Pro installed and disabled sound notifications in the stock Messaging app, however... When I get new messages and read them in Go SMS, I get a notification icon in the stock App (number of new unread messages) as well as in the social Hub, to which the stock messaging app belongs as well.
Any ideas how to disable it?
Use titanium back up and freeze the " badgetProvider". But it will give u forceclose notification everytime u get a message.
So another words, there is no menu option for doing this

Hi I also use Go SMS pro, and was hoping bypass the use of the stock messaging app.
Have you had any joy with this? Also is it possible to change the default homescreen icon for messages to open GO SMS Pro instead of the stock?
TIA
I use Go SMS Pro, too. But I don't have any problem having a notification coming from the stock messaging. What I did is I unchecked all the boxes from the menu of the stock. That's what I did from my old x10i, too. Works well for me.

As above, this sorted out the issue for me.
In the settings for the stock messing client uncheck the notifications box and that should get rid of it

Go to the App Drawer, press Menu button, tap Edit, you can then drag and drop GO SMS icon over the stock one.
I like GO SMS Pro i always used this with my HD2 but the stock SMS on the GS2 is a massive improvment on previous android efforts and i think ill keep this.
Just uncheck the notification setting in the stock sms menu?

[Q] Notification Indicator for unread SMS

Is there a setting to enable the indicator to show the number of unread SMS received on the SMS icon? I'm using Go launcher and used desktop visualizer to change the sms icon. I can't remember if stock touchwiz is able to show the number of unread SMS on the icon itself.
Thanks in advance
the touch wiz one does display it but on other launchers you lose that ability on the default messaging icon unfortunately!
I'm using Go Launcher and have my SMS shortcut on the bottom dock. It notifies me of unread SMS.
There's an application.
It's ironically called "Go Launcher EX Notification".

[Q] Messaging Apps - QuickReply

Using the quick reply option on any of the popular sms apps (Go, Handcent, Pansi, even SMS Popup) results in the LED continuing to blink. The only way to get it to stop is either open the messaging app or pulldown the notification bar. I have disabled the notifications as well as LED for the stock messaging app. In the sms apps I have selected the "closing popup marks read" options as well. I've read around and I've seen that it seems to be a general problem with the way sense interacts with these apps.
Any ideas?
I have LED turned off for SMS... I use Handcent and a app called SMS Popup.
When I get SMS messages, most of the time, I just close them in the SMS Popup. If I hit Reply and reply, the LED never goes on.
Is there a benefit to having two sms apps that do the same thing?
