Hi all.
If I replace the SD card in my phone with a class4 will it improve overall speed?
Anyone tried it?
Thanks

I recently upgraded my SD card from a 2 to a 10 and I don't notice significant speed increase.
Which of the 2 SD cards are you referring to? I replaced the "Data" SD card with a 32GB class 10 card, and I can definitely tell a difference writing to it. Overall, not much difference in speed reading from it.
Thank you very much for replies

Guys just wondering. If you have more memory on your sd card does it affect the quadrant score. I just put in a 16gb sdhc class 2 in my x10 with all my data from my 8gb card which was almost full. In my first run i got 750. Then i got 853, 859, 805.

It shouldn't make any difference whatsoever.

i have a class 4 32gb sd card and get the same results as i got with the class 2 8gb card that came with the phone. so no, it doesn't affect quadrant or linpack.
edit: don't know if it's different if you installed the Benchmark apps on sd with apps2sd, then it sure can make a difference.

Does any one know if Class 4 sd card work on vibrant. Im about to buy an 8gb class 4 sd card and wondering if anyone has or currently using a class 4 sd card on their vibrant?
Thanks.
Been using a 16Gb Class 4 Kingston MicroSD since I bought the phone, works perfectly. I dont see any reason you could not use a MicroSD up to class 10, even though it would be a waste of money. Class 6 is probably as high as you would want to go for performance/money sake.
thanks. just ordered a kingston 8gb class 4 micro sdhc for 12$
Fyi, the card that came with the vibrant is class 4

how long it takes to load and scan the sd card. class 6 is supposed to be faster.
is 32 gb sd card the max vibrant can handle?

It loads the files on my external card pretty quick. All of my songs appear almost instantaneosly.

As far as I know 32gb is the highest so far.

My class 10 Patriot 32GB loads about as fast as my class 6 16GB lexar if that means anything. Both open up quickly for music apps or gallery. Its just the initial reading after any boot that takes about a min or 2. Hope that helps reassure!
[Q] Sd card speed
I did a benchmark with AnTuTu, it says:
8,5MB/s write and 18MB/s read speed.
Benchmark with SD tools says:
13,1write and also 18MB/s read
Isn't this quite low?
I bought a new Adata 16gb class 10 card, it isn't really faster then my previous sandisk 8gb class 2?
Did try sd boost from market, but didn't help much.
My gf has a sgs2, which gets about 12,5MB/s write, but 30+MB/s read speed!
Any ideas?

Is it possible to change the internal card of the phone to increase storage space? Maybe use a class 10 to try and speed up read / write?

if you are talking about the removable sd card, Yes you can replace that with a class 10 sd card
If you are talking about internal storage, there is no way of actually upgrading that (expect if you use data2ext on your rom/sd card)
I see you posted this using a Dell Streak and just to clarify this is the forum for HTC Legend
Been a while since I checked this topic. I did post with my Streak, but for a friend who has a Legend. I only asked because I replaced my internal SD card, with a little surgery, and did notice some improvement in performance. The legend has a relatively small internal storage and I was just wondering if anyone had tackled their internal sd. The phone is built like a tank with the unibody design so I wasn't about to start experimenting on his cell. I belive he is looking to switchout to a new phone anyway. Thanks for the reply.

I've read many posts about people with sd card problems, but my question is a little bit different. I have not had any problems until I decided to upgrade to a 32GB card. my new sd card works fine on the touchwiz based stuff, but won't mount on any mtd based ROM at all. So if anyone does have a working 32GB sd card on an mtd ROM, I'd like to know the brand and class rating.

Mine works fine. I have a class 4 Sandisk MicroSDHC
Hmm, then i'm at a loss since that's the brand and class rating of my 32GB card as well.

I'm using the glitch kernel RC v13, I've formatted it through there, but when ever I booted my phone it can't read my 32GB, I have to pop it out, then put it back in.. Its a lot of hassle because I have case mate a 2 layer case. Is your sd readable after a reboot?

fine here with class 4 sandisk...

I have a 16gb pny class 10 and it is working great with no issues. Although my stock 16gb san disk would have those problems. I would have to keep pulling it out or reformat it every other reboot...but it works fine in TW roms.
I've actually gone through two 32 GB cards both sandisk class 4. The first one I think had a overheating issue, one day I look at my phone and it says the SD card could not be recognized... Put it into 3 different computers/readers and nothing would recognize it at all... also used R-studio and no dice. Once I got my second one now I'm actually getting issues again with some of my data being erased randomly. Other than these problems it works completely fine in CM7 with Glitch V12. When will I learn to backup my stuff more often
