can't find barnacle wifi tether on market and i want to install it. the free tethering workaround worked yesterday but today i'm having issues getting past the authentications. do we have a tweak out yet for unrestricted market access?
i know i can put it in airplane mode and find it, but i'm not near wifi right now :/
cant help you with barnacle wifi but you can do this to unlock tethering without paying ATT

To activate Tethering we only need this:

yah i did that yesterday and i was having trouble today. i'll delete the apn i made and redo it with those settings, maybe something i have is different currently .
+ 1 to u thx
edit:
compared my setting to those and i'm not seeing the MMS Protocol: field on my phone, otherwise mine are the same.
I use Market Access. If you are rooted and can install unknown apks then get that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700085
I change my app store to the TMobile app store to get barnacle then back to the ATT app store once dlo'd
Sometimes you can use Appbrain to trick it into letting you download things, but not always.

Hey guys, I have an Xperia x10a, got it from someone who had rogers. I decided to debrand and root it. That seemed to work out fine. Now I am trying to get the 3g to work, and it just doesn't seem to.
I have added APN settings for two different variations.
One was internet.com, the other was rogers-core-appl1.apn, neither work. I am trying to get a hold of rogers tech but they seem to have no clue whats going on.
Here is my info:
X10a
Firmware - 1.6
Baseband - 1.1.31
Build - R2Ba026
This is driving me nuts, but I cant seem to get it working.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks.

All I seem to get is network errors. Not really sure what to do, enter all the info, enabled the APN from the menu, wifi works fine, but it just doesnt seem to work. The auto select network detects rogers, but the settings just dont seem to work.
Thanks.

I am very sorry guys, apparently rogers had a block on the data for some apparent reason. For some reason the first couple tech representatives didn't tell me there was a block.
Thank you those settings worked perfectly.
Didn't mean to waste anyones time.
Thank You.

No worries that is what we are here for to help! I have asked my fair share of questions and gotten sound advice. So it was my chance to give back.
I unlocked and rooted my Atrix I changed the apn to t mobile I get the E but the atrix still trys to access At&T on the browser and market what am I missing???
Mine did this same thing with my carrier in Japan, I could call and text and I would get H+ icon but no data. I sent mine back for a replacement.
Did you activate the phone on AT&T before unlocking and changing SIM?
I am facing the similar problem too. I use Atrix with Simple Mobile number. Mine catches E but doesn't load anything. Always ended up showing connection error. Is it a hardware problem?
Sounds like apn settings are incorrect.

I don't know what your apn settings should be, just sounds like that is the source of your problem.
Edit...look at some of these:
http://forum.androidspin.com/showthread.php/2615-SETTINGS-T-Mobile-APN-Settings
that post is where I got the setting to try to change to when it had a problem. later I found out that it's the same setting as the default though the username and password is unknown since it's a star.
I have CM 7 on my Aria. Recently I tried an app from market that claimed to prolong battery life (stupid, i know!). Within few hours I realized that it drained my battery even faster, so I uninstalled it. Ever since, I am unable to use network data (wifi works fine). I did check under "Wireless and networks" and network data is enabled.
I'd appreciate any help.

Sometimes just rebooting helps. I would disable wi-fi and enable network data from settings. Then reboot and see if it helps.
I think you must define anew Access point manually under wireless/mobile networks/Access point name, first of all you must refer to your network provider to give you the configurations.

Here is an interesting development... I flashed CyanogenMod 10 on my Sony Xperia arc S phone and the ROM downloaded some settings by itself. There are 3 APNs that comes with this ROM.
1. ATT
2. ATT LTE
3. StraightTalk ATT
StraightTalk was picked by default. I was about to delete them all and enter the settings from here but then I received a text message from a friend... Lo and behold, it was a MMS message with a pic attached and already downloaded. I saw that my WiFi was on, so I turned off the WiFi and asked my friend to send me more pics... They all arrived including a video snippet.... Then I sent one, a larger pic, and he received it. All amazed I fired up the CM10's browser and went to www.testmy.net Did a smarttest and my download was 3.4 Mbps and upload was 577 Kbps... In Phoenix, AZ...
Here are the settings that came with CM10 ...

Does this make any sense now?
That's the settings I use for straight talk, works great. I get 4g just about everywhere here in pa. Mms works great too. I've had straight talk for a year and a half on at&t. Can't complain. If you use alot of cell data they will throttle you slow, but I'm usually close to wifi. I've heard 2GB then they slow you down.

I'm getting 1.3Mbps down and 657 Kbps up. Pretty happy with it.
To the last poster, I thought Straight Talk didn't offer LTE coverage?! If it did, it'd be an even more amazing deal than I had thought it was!
My data works fine. Got like 6mbps this morn but my MMS wont send for ****. Using an Xperia Ion
Pantech Pocket ATT - Straight Talk MMS Settings
The Pantech Pocket needs to have the Straight Talk APN data loaded to TWO locations.
Both Phone APN and Wap APN need to be setup with the Straight Talk APN settings.
Straight Talk makes it sound like you only need to enter the information in one location.
You need to enter the information in Phone APN and Wap APN, if you want MMS to work!
APN name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: Straight Talk value
Port: 80
MMSC: Straight Talk value
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
My Pantech Pocket is running flawlessly on Straight Talk now. MMS is 100% functional. The pictures are getting through. I'm getting 5Mbps download speed and 1Mbps upload speed.
My Pantech burst uses only one apn. On gingerbread and ice cream sandwich. I don't run proxy but the rest of the settings I put in and works good. Seems faster tried it. 40kbps proxy vs 4000kbps no proxy. Not sure why. Any ideas?

HOLY SH!T!!!
I just put in the settings Bushmaster78FS posted and I am now on TRUE 4G with ST. 6Mbps!!! ITS FASTER THAN MY WORKS WIFI BY 3X!!!
AMAZING!!! THANKS BUSHMASTER!
Nice
Thanks for the settings you posted Bushmaster.
The settings provided are the first ones I have used and successfully got both data and mms working with only one APN.
Using Samsung Galaxy S III.
1. My phone is unocked and compatible on both AT&T networks and T-Mobile right now i am using an blue AT&T sim and i am thinking to make the move to T-Mobile network. Do you think i can use the same AT&T compatible sim and just change the APN setting to T-Mobile and have it work on the T-Mobile network or so i have to buy a sim?
2. I heard that you can get a free sim by buying a free phone and just using it on your phone but other people say that those sims are lock to those phones. Which is true?
3. I see that Straight talk sells cheap GSM phones and my GF has her phone on T-Mobile so can i buy one of the ST phones and swap it to use on T-Mobile or are the locked and can they be unlocked?
I just switched from the default straight talk apn to the ones bushmaster posted. I went from 1 mbps to 4.8 on a Nexus 4.

anyone try these settings on S2 i9100 and see speed gains?
APN set, no data.
Hey gang, I've looked far-and-wide and haven't been able to locate a solution so, I throw myself on y'all's mercy and ask if anyone has a clue why I can't receive wireless data on my SGT AT&T GT-P1000.
I received my AT&T Straight Talk SIM the other day and porting the phone over was no issue. However, when I set up the APN I did not immediately reboot the phone due to some confusion about when the service actually transferred. Could this have affected my registration on the ST wireless network?
I've entered the APN settings precisely but, alas, still cannot connect to the wireless data. I really want to move over to ST, not only will it save me $30 a month whilst adding an "unlimited" data plan but, best of all, I'll get to tell AT&T to go pound sand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
did you add in the " http://"?
Does anybody now any way to unthrotte. Since we all now that ST throttle after 5gb. I called to ST customers service, they told me that unlimited data is only for navigation.

I have tried every configuration i know of,.I can not get MMS to work all the time. I can force it through gosms but the phone will auto change my apn and i have to change it back reboot and then it will work until the phone changes it again. Does any one know of a full setting that will stick and allow MMS to work fully.
Attached is what settings I currently have, but the phone will change the apn type to "default, hidi" or something like that. I have also tried the
Code:
APN: T-Mobile MMS
Proxy: None
Port: None
Username :none
Password: none
Server: none
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms.wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
settings and they still do not work.
Help please, Love this phone but want the full experience out of it
I can tell you the problem right now as I had to do a lot of online searching. I'll make it easy for you though.
Change APN type to: default,supl,mms
Edit: Also keep in mind that the phone will default back after a reboot so you'll have to change the APN type again. That's what is keeping you from MMS. Trust me!

Ok finally got it to work. I have done some major investigation but It works until a reset then all you have to do is change a simple setting to correct it
To get it to work first you have to put in your sim card. The phone will put in the generic TMO settings for APN. After that you have to go edit the settings. Change them to
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: (leave this blank)

MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260

After that you have to go to the play store and download GOSMS pro (free app). Once it is installed open it up, go through their tutorial. Hit menu then go to settings, once there go to advance, scroll to the bottom and hit mms settings then scroll to the bottom of it put a check in the “fill apn configuration manually” box. Then you will set your MMSC to" http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc " then your proxy to : " 216.155.165.050 " then your port to " 8080 ". Hit the back button and you are good to go. After that you will have MMS working (may get a did not download message but the pic did download. If you reboot you will have to go in and edit your APN to clear out the default apn type, save it and good to go

yeah i select my carrier and tried to send a mms and it fails after like 10 minutes. I go to edit apn and the it crashes (well not crash but gives sim card error
that's strange I just tried vipers new rom but it still wont allow mms went back to virtous and I can send mms no problem
Ok this is what's working for me for the last 3 days
Install any GSM rom
Turn data off
Down load market enabler from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1175856&d=1341372763 run it set provider
Down load apn global run it set and backup your apns
Reboot turn on data
Now you can send mms
You will need to open apn global and restore your backup apns everytime you reboot. And make sure data is set to off first
I know this is a pita but its what works I have done numerous reboots for the last 3 days and is works everytime
