I was wondering if anyone knows how to put straight talk on a cdma android phone. Preferably a Droid Eris. Please any knowledge? Let this be a general question.
Not possible. Go to Howardforums.com and check out the straight talk forums. You need to use a straight talk phone. You might want to check out page plus cellular, they offer bring your own device on verizons network.

Boost mobile isn't CDMA or GSM
It's IDEN (I think that's the acronym).
Wont work.

Wrong. Your information is out of date pko. Boost was bought out by Sprint a while back and uses both IDEN and CDMA. The CDMA part is now the actual Sprint network so from what I have heard on various other forums you can get any Sprint phone and run it on Sprint prepaid (Boost). They have an unlimited everything plan for $60/mo. Or better yet you can get a Sprint 450 minute plan for less and get unlimited texting and data I believe.
Well now I've got boost with full evdo network. Not 1xevdo full evdo. Anyone that wants to know how I did it I will tell you if I see a request I am tired of uptight people hiding and keeping secret thing that people wanna know.

I'm waiting for this to happen too.
Straight talk is just Verizon.
Just really cheap.
it won't happen. I have heard Straight-talk has an esn white-list of phones sold for Straight-talk. Phones not on the list can't access the network, even if the same model as a phone they sell. But if you are near wifi most of your day, page plus is a better deal anyway.

You are contributing to this problem and should go on your way.
Anyway who wants to be pm'd to share their methods is either selling something, spamming people, or simply a selfish person who has no business on a community forum.
not hackin more like clonin/donor
if i got a straight talk phone already. cant i just have that one as a donor for my evo 3d or my eris htc. i dont think im hacking since i own both evo3d and eris htc both with clean esn... and the straight talk one i own it to and its clean... is it more like modifying...right???????
if people want an Eris like phone on straight talk, just get the Samsung. Its better than the Eris anyway. Plus no hacking...

You need a ST donor phone, yeah, but you should never turn it on or activate it, just need it for the MEID. if you already activated it you're SOL, need a new donor.
For Anyone who cares
Let me start off with saying, I have been screwed over by VZW far too many times to allow them to continue pliaging my pockets. I'm currently working on converting my Verizon (CDMA) Smart phones (HTC Incredible; 1st Gen Android; iPhone 4) over to straight talk.
Now for all you nay sayers, who, for the longest time have made claims that it can not be done; well I tell you it can. I know it's a cliche, but as people have said before, "where there's a will, there is a way!"
This will involve a very intimate understanding of all the mobile networks there are, and, the different networks Straight Talk uses. For anyone who is currently pondering the question "Can I flash/spoof, or otherwise get an AT&T phone on a CDMA network?" The answer is and always will be NO! This will never change. The only exception to the rule is the iPhone4s. This is due in part, to the fact the iPhone 4s was originally designed to be a world phone. This means that the iPhone 4s has the capabilities to switch to CDMA from GSM and vice versa.
If Straight Talk does have a white list of ESNs that have acess to the network, then that would be a tiny problem. I say tiny problem because it can be overcome. This comes down to legalities though. In order to get any CDMA phone (to include verizon phones) onto the straight talk network, you will first have to buy a Straight Talk (CDMA) smart phone. Next you'll have to unlock your current Verizon phone (or any other CDMA network phone, i.e. Sprint, Boost, etc.) from the current carrier. Then you'll need to spoof your IMEI and ESN to what ever your current Straight Talk phone's IMEI/ESN is. You should be able to find some software to assist with this, by doing a google search (specific site will follow in my next thread.
Spoofing both the IMEI and ESN are very important, as the ESN is unique to the IMEI. Essentially, you are fooling the network into thinking that the phone accessing the network is the one you bought from Straight Talk. Another reason for this is so that VZW never catches the on to what you're doing, considering they monitor the data usage of each phone on thier network. If they notice an IMEI from the phone previously on thier network, now with a new carrier who offers cheaper services, they will cut and block you from their network.
(The following thread is a concept in progress. If anyone else thinks they have another/easier way to do it, please feel free to comment)
All questions are welcome, however, if you lack a basic understanding of the cellular technology or the information flow through the mobile networks, I will probably ignore your question. (SO GOOGLE IT!)

GSM phones
I know this is old but just reading around thought id post, i just bought an atrix 2 online an at/t phone and got straight talk last week, and all you need is a GSM phone on bands 850 and 1900 mhz thru T-mobile at/t or unlocked and your good, they dont do cdma because it gets complicated if you use anyhing then the phones they sell. But i can report on my "4g'' phone which is HSPA+ i get 8mbp/s up and 2 mbp/s down in my area, so great service!
i'd suggest page plus - its also on the verizon network... nothing special needed, just a clean esn eris - call pageplus and they'll activate you for free, free $2 to get you started and then all you do is buy pins to refill service.
also, you can load cricket prl and some more to get cricket working...

I have searched the photon forums with no complete answer. Is there any way to unlock it to work with At&t.
Sprints past practice on world phones is for the GSM to be unlocked but to have the radios blocked for any US GSM carriers
Yes sprint had done that in the past.....but hopefully just as the TP2 was unlocked for us networks so will this badboy......where the heck is comnex or whatever her name is.....she was the wizard

I'd like to know as well.
(I'm always amused by people trying to go TO AT&T.. I guess if you have a family plan)
No US Sprint phone will EVER work on AT&T, TMobile, or Verizon... period. This is a timeless question with the same answer every time. Even if the phone supports International GSM... it doesn't support domestic GSM.. and will never
Uhm...why. please explain.

A better question might be why unlock this phone for use on AT&T. I switched from AT&T to Sprint because Sprint is better. You should too.
Aside from Sprint being better
There are US communication laws. You'd think by now they would make a single phone and just put all GSM and CDMA frequencies in the same phone and be done with it... let it activate anywhere..
But carriers would never be able to keep a customer if they were flipflopping the signal of the moment. Sprint especially would never risk losing customers to another carrier.
The Photon's hardware does support the US GSM frequencies. I am sure at some point someone will figure out a way to reprogram the phone to get around not being able to register on domestic GSM carriers.

Wrong. The HTC Touch Pro 2 was a int'l phone like the photon. It also had the US GSM carriers locked out. Eventually there WAS a hack that got the phone working with att et al.

Just as the last user pointed out, you are incorrect. I personally Had a Sprint touch pro 2 which I used on both Tmobile and Att networks. You could simply make a few screen taps to get from network to network. There is no doubt that as the photon gets more popular the Devs will figure out an unlock.....
So does it mean that if it gets unlocked it will be able to work not only on at&t but with other carriers also?

When Unlocking, always use unlocking codes. There are many sites providing unlocking codes. I had a personal experience in unlocking my BB 8900 phone from ClassicUnlocking.com which is a reliable service unlocks the phone within 30 minutes and also cheap.

I am hoping so. My new wife is with AT&T and where we are going to live, Sprint's data is HORRIBLE. My 3G speed never exceeds 400 kbs where her 3G speeds will top 2100 kbps. Also, AT&T DOES have 4G in the neighborhood. So, I'm hoping to be able to pop her SIM card in and use the faster data once in a while, but still retain the unlimited (slow) data from Sprint.
So, unfortunately, there ARE reasons to choose AT&T over Sprint. Personally, I wish Sprint would improve their network.

Umm...I've used my Verizon HTC Touch Pro 2 with AT&T, Boost & GoPhone SIM's here in the US.
the sprint blackberry tour had a sim slot that when unlocked worked on tmobile/att. so sprint hasnt locked out EVERY gsm capable worldphone
any update on getting this to work with tmobile/att?
I am also looking for an answer to this. I am with AT&T and can't really move with Sprint at this point but I'd love to use Photon on AT&T

No luck for you. Still waiting on a magic fairy to give us a radio that unlocks domestic gsm.
I wouldn't hold your breath on GSM. you could always get an atrix if you are tied into a contract, same hardware essentially, I think most of us are pushing for custom roms like cm7 and a boot loader that doesn't loose 4g. I'm sure at some point it will happen on the photon.
I have the HTC Evo LTE flashed to Boost with a 3G doner phone (TP2). Been working great.
I now want to flash a One SV or a Boost Force (made by ZTE) to have 4G as part of my service as well.
Would this be possible? With regard to flashing LTE from phones, is that plausible in this case? I have CDMA paid and other tools. I want information before I attempt to tackle this project.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Honestly, your treading open water there, (I'm betting) your not gonna find anyone to offer any input simply because very little to few have even attempted yet...I would have already myself, as I work exclusively with flashing to Boost, but unfortunately, Columbus doesn't have LTE yet. I can tell you though, that the second we get it up and running out here I will dive into it and definitely report back here if no one else hasn't yet.
Would love to hear how it went for you if you try it, a nice tutorial would even be nicer . Good luck with it, either way. BTW, I have heard it is definitely plausible.

Hey guys,
I was thinking about giving my old rezound to my nephew since his old tmobile phone got messed up. I have never tried using one carrier phone on another but is there a way to get my old rezound working on tmobile? I think as long as he gets 3g he would be happy, his last phone was 3g anyways. The rezound is on neo's tron rom and is s-off so i can flash anything required,
Thanks for the help guys!

You can't get 3G on T-Mobile with the Rezound. My friend gets 3G on his iPhone on T-Mobile but I only get Edge in the same area.

Ok thanks, I tried some of the gsm patches and none worked but guess that confirms it. Thanks!
I let him know that and guess he would still be happy, turns out his mother had data off anyways on his phone and he needed to be on wifi for data, he wont be missing out on anything and have a nice upgrade from the htc mytouch he had.
So I found someone I might trade my S4 for an HTC One, Its not unlocked but I know several places to unlock it, as I have AT&T.
How well does the T-Mobile HTC One work on AT&T are the correct 3G/HSPA+ bands there? Would LTE work?
100% fine.
Yes, T-Mobiles HTC has the bands for ATT so it will work great
I love my HTC One. I've seen my friend's S3's and this is by far a better device. And to me, the S4 is an overhyped S3 . Just saying

I have my Tmobile HTC One on At&t LTE right now and I have done a speed test reaching 35mbps. You do have to make sure your account has had a prior LTE device on the account or the device might only get 3G speeds. I told the phone rep to put my wife's unused HTC One X on my line and gave them the IMEI of that phone. The reason for this is because At&t does not have the Tmobile models in their database, so the only thing they can do is link your One to your line as a generic 3G device.

Ah, that's good advice, and may explain my inability to get LTE on my Note 2. I've never owned an AT&T LTE phone, and never will. I guess picking up a TMo One with intention to unlock and use on AT&T is not going to work for me.

Your tip worked on my Note 2. Once I got ahold of an LTE devices IMEI to give the AT&T rep, they were able to provision my account for LTE and now no issues.
I just picked up a T-Mobile HT One to do the same thing with (I have accounts on TMo and ATT), but the sim unlocking service I usually use is having troubles giving me an unlock code. Weird.

You're gonna need the correct ATT LTE Apn...this is the one I used to use on ATT when I was with them. Data and MMS working.
Same situation here: I bought a T-Mobile HTC one, unlocked it, took it to AT&T, and after a lot of wrestling with them got AT&T LTE and HSPA+ both working (you will need to make sure: your AT&T account is provisioned so your data plan is LTE-capable; you have an LTE-capable SIM card; you have endless patience to push AT&T to give you a 'dummy' IMEI in their database of an LTE-capable phone).
Here's my issue, though: it runs hot whenever the wifi OR the data are on. I'm wondering if it's because I'm running the T-Mobile radio (4A.14.3250.15_10.34.1150.02L) on AT&T's network.
I've been told Android phones "just run hot," or that heat is a product of a rogue application (so far, nothing seems to be running when it shouldn't). I am new to the forums so I can't post over in the development area yet.
Anyone have any thoughts on whether trying a different radio would address the heat issues? Any other heat-diagnosing tips?
Thanks in advance!

I can tell you why I am looking to go to ATT its because T-Mobiles coverage sucks. I have constant issues with their network.
Also when you think about it why would you offer a connection over wifi, shouldn't their phone work.
I bought a prepaid card just to test but I didn't connect to their LTE but I think its because they haven't provisioned it properly.
Time to go back again. I think I want to keep the HTC one because its a good phone can't see getting the S4.
Now att has next but still has the rate plans up there. I like t-mobiles pricing but ATT service is much better.
Find a nice AT&T Salesperson
I used to work at AT&T and i've just used a generic IMEI to provision LTE on a non AT&T phone. If you find a nice salesperson to help you they'll be able to look up a generic IMEI in the systaem for you. Its an internal tool they have to look up an IMEI for you. Hope this helps.
