How ? My microUSB connector is broken (inside phone ... not chargeable, i was sleeping and probably my dog or I destroyed it while I was asleep) ... Changing cable won't help me ... P.S: I'm definetely not THAT stupid...

which rom are u using? if u have stock se rom then have u tried "Factory Reset"? i am not sure if it removes rooting/xrecovery but no harm in trying...
I had to send my phone for repair (vibrator not working) last October. I had rooted it and installed a generic 2.1 and still the accepted to service it.
It you want a proper stock-state, you definetely need a USB connection to flashtool or SEUS. So no choice, just send the phone 'as is'.
the USB fault is a very common fault with the x10 so the company dealing with repairs might not even look into the software side of it. the repairs are dealt with by big companies who deal with lots of manufacturers and phones so they arent the sort to really care. they just fix it then send a bill to SE
the first phone i sent back was rooted and debranded and they just swapped it .
another option is to find someone who is good with electronics to fix it. it is really simple , the USB port just needs re-soldering (the solder will of cracked off) through the board
Resoldering might void the warranty isn't it?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Fortunately i've got backup of stock and rooted , but i just need to delete recovery. BTW as i said be4 i sent x1i to repair with broken case and they sony ******* sent me phone back with message : phone has been modified
Ps: also phone module stopped working ... I cannot leave airplane mode ...

Hey Guys.
I recently Hard Bricked my Vibrant while flashing a Custom ROM. It won't turn ON at all.
I am shipping the Phone to Samsung Repair Centre in Texas from India.
I had a talk with the Call Centre where they said that I should just give them the piece without the Battery and Battery Pack and they will only repair my piece and will not Replace it anyhow.
I am fine with them just repairing my piece rather than replacing it, but the issue is that I have only Download Mode available on my piece and the Recovery Mode is Factory Disabled.
My Questions are,
1) Whether they will make the Recovery and Download Mode available back on my Vibrant after repairing it ?
2) The phone is very much off the 30 days mark for the Return Policy to work, so is it still their obligation to Replace my piece with a one that has a Recovery and Download Mode enabled on it if the repairing solution doesn't do the trick ?
3) I am shipping the Phone from India so how should I make sure that the Phone that they have Repaired or Replaced with has the Recovery and Download mode working on it ?
4) Also, in my Country we have a Samsung Galaxy S International available, so is the Motherboard of Samsung Vibrant and the International Model similar for the Service Centre over here to repair it ?
Any Help is appreciated.
Thank You.

So let me get this straight...
I'm assuming u rooted the phone b/c you must in order to even attempt to flash a custom rom...
So you want to send a rooted phone in for repair??
Its very hard to brick the vibrant....u probably have a soft brick....did u try Odin to restore your phone back to stock?? Try that before sending it anywhere

No, Guys. I know what Odin is.
The phone is Hard Bricked. That means nothing will show up on the screen to do anything at all. It is a well known issue and it is very much possible with your phone too.
From what I have read on the forum, the USB doesn't work due to some bootloader corruption and thus you will not be able to try anything on your phone and Wires need to be physically soldered onto the Motherboard to flash the bootloader and Stock ROM.
I want to enquire about the issue of whether Download and Recovery Mode which comes factory disabled in the newer Vibrants, be enabled by Samsung itself ?
Thanks for your Help.

Have you heard from Samsung yet as to how much the repair cost will be? I have to send mine there after a Kies update killed by boot loader (the most common reason why a Galaxy S won't show any signs of life and only way to truly brick them). I had a local repair shop jtag it before Kies killed it again, but they couldn't fix the hardware lock.
I got it to a point like that as well. Even when I plugged it in to charge and such, nothing happend. I was still able to ODIN it though. What I had to do was just the battery pull method of putting it into download mode (pull battery, sim and sd cards, open ODIN, connect phone to pc, pop in battery while holding volume buttons) and it worked for me.
Like others say, it's really difficult to hard-brick Vibrants. If either primary or secondary bootloader has been corrupted, you shouldn't have Download mode. Try search more and find out what others did to get out of such situations. You should be able to flash away UNLESS your internal SD card has been fried/messed up. The repair will probably cost you ridiculously large sum of money. Samsung will probably replace internal SD memory (I think it's MoviNAND flash memory module) and flash new firmware. But again it will cost money. I would do everything I can possibly think I can do before sending it off to repair centers.
EDIT: If it is your cellular carrier accepting your phone for examination and think that the cause is hardware malfunction, the carrier will REPLACE your phone. If you are not sending it to your carrier, however, and you are sending it directly to Samsung repair center instead, they will most likely incur repair fees. Not sure 100% but Samsung must be able to tell if you've ever flashed custom firmware and flashing custom kernels and ROMs void manufacturer's 1 year warranty. And this will probably be true unless you flash a stock ROM before shipping it, but this is ironic and according to you doing so is impossible. Try Odin JFD again!

I take it yours wasn't hardware locked then. It's interesting that you were still able to get Odin to recognise the phone when it wasn't showing any sign of life. Were the lights turning on?

I'm trying to find out exactly how much Samsung would charge to repair a screwed up boot loader caused by a Kies update. The device was flashed to stock prior to the update; however, there is a TiBu folder on the internal sd. The Samsung agent I spoke with opened a support ticket and said it would be repaired under warranty as long as nothing was done to the device to void the warranty. I'm trying to decide whether to have it jtagged and still have it hardware locked, or take a chance and send it to Samsung for a proper repair, fixing the hardware lock and boot loader.
Hello again
Sometimes we can brick our devices by a bad unlock, flashing process, or simply bad luck.
The phone doesn't turn on and there is a Red Led Of Death when pressing power button. Even with a GREEN led when we plug the phone with back key pressed the computer detect the phone as "unknown device" so there is no chance to get fixed by Flashtool or SEUS/PC Companion.
Well this problem normally means that the bootloader is broken or damaged. So, in order to fix it we need to write a new SEMCboot and after this we were able to flash a full and fresh firmware with flashtool and unbrick our Xperia.
This process like unlocking process requires SETool dongle/box and a paperclip to make a testpoint to put the phone in flash mode and be able to write the SEMCBoot.
I can help to anyone with a bricked Xperia Arc/Play/Neo/Pro just make send me a PM.
Like unlocking process you will need this 3 programs:
SETool software for unlocking
USB Over network client for remote dongle
Teamviewer client for remote support and guide
anyway if you want me to buy a Dr. Pepper just
Sometimes even after fix the bootloader the phone doesn't want to boot. In most cases this is by a damaged TRIM AREA (TA).
The trim area is a part of softwere stored in eeprom so it can be read and write with the proper software like SETool.
Read and Write trim area is very easy but you should know that some sectors of the TA are unique for you phone, lets call it Security Units.
The process for repair trim area is indeed very easy.
For sure we need Testpoint like in unlocking or bootloader repair process.
1. Backup Security Units with this script:
Code:
taread:00020851
taread:000207D3
taread:000207Da
2. Write a Working TA backup from another phone (same model)
3. Restore Security Units.
Thats all, now your phone should boot well but is 90% possible that you dont get Signal so for fix that we need to unlocking.
If this last thing is needed you can refer to this thread:

Thanks Alejandrissimo!!
Alejandrissimo is the best!!
Two weeks ago, I tried to flash cyanogenmod7, but I'm a n00b, so ofcourse it went wrong. My device(Arc) wouldn't boot anymore, I tried some things and suddenly it even wouldn't connect with fastboot..
So I saw this topic and some other ones from Alejandrissimo, Many comments praising him for his patience and help, that's why I contacted him, and that evening he helped me getting my phone working! He really Knowles where he is talking about!
Only problem I had left was NO SIGNAL, I asked Alejandrissimo if he could help me with that and yes he said he could. For almost a whole week, oh well. Much time difference, so it was hard to catch eachother we tried flashing it again and again in different ways. Yesterday he thought he had the answer, we tried it, and it worked!! I'm so happy he helped me getting my phone back! So so many thanks again Alejandrissimo!!
In order to unlock my trim area for my SIM I had to pay 24USD, cause Alejandrissimo had to buy credits at Sony Ericsson, but it was totally worth it!

happened to me this morning but with a lot of luck i managed to get the phone in the flashboot mode (with a lot of tries connecting to PC) and install the stock FW (as i read FW is light on the boot loader)and tried to boot (with a lot of tries) i got it boot once but stops after Xperia screen i tried and tried until it booted normally i want to get back to the custom ROM but afraid that problem accrued again.
NOTE:last night tried to install True licensed market to get paid apps for free the phone heated and heated i uninstalled it and connected the phone to the laptop to charge overnight.
check your gtalk @Alejandrissimo. i've just send you invitation
i need your help for giving my mini pro back, now its on the dead of red led :crying:
Hi people. Because of work and children I have no much time to visit every thread on xda or check all PM, but you can always can contact me to gmail or hangouts.
alright so... i kinda screwed up the usb port on my beloved SGS2 few days back... and well it "kinda" work and "kinda" not.. sometime it detect its connected to computer.. and shows "USB cable connected" then sometime it wont detect no matter how many time i plug it in... so i'm planning to go to the reseller that i bought it from and see if they gona replace me with new one or send it to samsung to see if they gona fix it...
just a side note: if the fixing cost/the new phone cost doesnt go into warranty (water got into usb and broke it), my house insurance will cover the entire phone (confirmed)... so my problem isnt about that luckily
yes so.. i want to know what kind of requirement i need for warranty here i list what i did
1st Flashed stock rom with stock kernel (so yea its stock without root or any kind of custom)
2nd Reseted my custom binary (its been 0 for quite while now anyway...)
3rd Factory reseted (just in case it would magically start to work after this.. and to also ensure to samsung guys that i've tried everything within the warranty limit)
now question is.. did i miss something? i will be returning it thursday
ps. sry if there is incorrect grammar or anything... my english isnt perfect
I'd probably do it this way:-
1) Format cache, data, system, & sd card in CWRecovery.
2) Flash stock firmware
3) Use jig
They won't fix/replace it under warranty given you got water in the USB port (we went thru this last week if you recall). And how did you manage to flash a stock rom if your USB port is borked ? Anywho...
yes i remember mistah XD and it doesnt hurt to try does it? XD for the warranty i mean... and also i flashed it via mobile odin.. first downloaded latest stock rom via checkfrus downloader.. and then dropped it into dropbox from desktop.. downloaded it off from dropbox on android and then flash it via mobile odin done...
Good luck.
muhahahaha ;P got my SGS2 back today.. with 0 cost <3 got to love finnish customer service..
ps. no i didnt lie anything to the reseller.. told him i got it abit wet and it started to act...
So I bought Galaxy S3 2 weeks ago. I was installing nova launcher for my phone but then it just went black on me. My phone is on stock but rooted. Now i cant boot up the device and I dont know what to do!PLz Help :crying:
The device is not booting up just by installing a third party app? or it actually boots up shows status bar but everything else is black? At worst case you can try factory reset your phone from recovery (you will lose all your data)
Yeah! It just went black when i installed Nova launcher.
Doesn't make any sense, that shouldn't happen.
Can you enter recovery by pressing vol up + home button + power button when phone is switched on?

I dont why it is broken because i just recovered back to stock firmware and i was still be able to use for like 1 and a half day. I doubt it is the main board as you've been able to get into recovery and flash back to stock, it was probably more like a software glitch during you're original update, if they are saying it is broke and they will exchange it for a new one then you do it if you want for peace on mind.

I said that i returned back to stock and then used it for a day and a half. Then my phone just turn black when i was installing nova launcher. And it bricked, i guess!!!! :crying:
Probably your phone is dead. Don't you have warranty? Normally they should replace anything.
Warranties depend on the country but in many countries, during the first 6-12 months, the seller has to actually prove you broke it or caused a malfunctionin order to be able to refuse warranty.
Noth that the key is SELLER, Samsung has no obligation to you only the company you got it from.
Even proving that rooting caused your malfunction (should they be able to determine it was rooted) is impossible since rooting does not cause hardware issues. Altough they might try to make you believe it
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
did you tell them it was rooted?
maybe that's why they are not honoring the warranty
No, I didnt tell that it was root. i just said that i updated the new firmware! but they said that i must have brick it when i flashed some custom rom. And now i have to pay for the mainboard!
Yeah if you told them you were rooted best thing you can do is go back there and say that it broke on it's own. Since they probably don't have a way of finding out if it was rooted they won't be able to refuse the warranty.
OH! And by the way, i told them that it broke when i was surfing the internet but they didnt believe me. they said it was my fault cause I updated the firmware somehow wrong! But i doubt it could be the problem because I was still able to use for one and a half day!
Hello Guys,
I own a Galaxy S2 I9100G.. 2 months ago i flashed it and installed custom Rom of cyanogen mod version 10.1.3-RC2-i9100g ...
Last night i was browsing the internet when suddenly it got stuck and i had remove the battery to restart. But the problem is that it didnt restart.
I can only go in to download mode. But cant seem to flash via odin it fails atfer nand write. And i am not able to find the files for my mobile..as many files here were on hotfile server and it seems to have been closed.
Please help me regarding this matter how should i proceed?? how do i get it to start ??
Last resort would be to go the service center but i would like to try to fix it before.. And warranty also expired a while back ..
I get complete ( write) operation fail after nand write..
do u think my hardware has blown up or something ?? or is it just sofware problem ?
I am using odin V 3.04 .. On odin version 1.85 it usually doeant go on after nand write and stays on it ..
Please help me here .. I really would like to fix my phone : (
Can't you go to Recovery using Volume Up+Home+Power ? the symptoms you are telling are kinda dangerous. At what stage the Odin flashing fails? if its at the factoryfs, than i am afraid you are facing a super brick here.
Look for firmware on AndroidFirmwares.net or Samsung-Updates.com, you don't need to use the exact same firmware that was originally on the phone, any firmware for your carrier will do (make sure it's I9100G though) & if you're going to go back to a custom rom as soon as you get your phone working normally again, any firmware from any carrier will do.
Search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread, though some of the stuff he mentions is I9100 specific (advice to flash specific files) a lot of the other stuff is generic I9100x stuff which you should try if you find you can't get a successful Odin flash.
But if it keeps failing at NAND write having tried a lot of different I9100G stock firmwares, the NAND might be cactus, which means you need a motherboard replacement. But I'd try a lot of stock roms before I conceded that if I were in your situation. Often these things can be fixed by persevering.
@alvinasnow Nope i cant go into recovery mode.. If i could it would have been very easy after then.. Only download mode opens up.. And i tried different things flashing bootloader, kernel, firmware, pit,csc , everything fails at nand writing .. So is there a way out of this ??
@MistahBungle I was afraid that might be the answer motherboard replacement.. I tried different firmwares and even flashing via different Methods but its always the same.. i will go to the sites you mentioned to try more firmwares..
But i think my only option would be to go to a samsung service center i guess :-/ ?? they would be able to fix it right ???

Yep, but it's cheaper, faster and very easy to do it yourself
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100
Yep. Sourcing a 2nd hand motherboard online somewhere & either replacing yourself or paying a local mobile repair shop (non Samsung service centre) to replace will be much cheaper than paying a service centre to put a new board in.
So Basically there is no way to save my internal memory data :-/ ????
Changing the motherboard i guess would mean all gone with not a single hope of recovery.. OR i get to keep my data after the change ??
If you didn't back your data up, no. I guess you could contact companies who recover data from dead hard drives & maybe they can help, but that's a real longshot & will be very expensive if it's possible.
I did one back up 50-55 days ago when i went to custom rom .. so i will be losing pretty much only data in last month or so .. not much ..
But i still dont understand why the motherboard needs to be changed ?? i mean the download mode opens and everything .. odin fails to write ..
So nand failure basically means motherboard got screwed??
Are there other flashing softwares better then odin ??
I will have to actually wait till tomorrow to see what does samsung has to say in this regard as its off today ..So thought one last fight lol ..
And one more thing the battery is draining really fast and pretty much heating up in minutes when i put it on charge ..
And when i remove the charger .. the charging battery logo does not disappear i have to remove battery for it to disappear.. and the logo also stays when i remove the battery while the charger is still connected ..so have to remove the charger to make it go away .. basically cut all power for the logo to go away ..
As I said in my first post to this thread, you might as well keep trying/flashing firmwares, but you claimed to have already done a lot of that. What you're describing is symptomatic of the NAND being corrupted. It's too time consuming for service centres to replace just the NAND (removing/re-soldering components like that is fiddly), so they simply replace the whole board (and charge you a lot to do it).
OK...That extra information you supplied in your last post might give you an easier/cheaper fix. What you've just described sounds a lot like the USB board/port is on its way out. Replacing this yourself is cheap & easy to do (you just have to wait for the part to be delivered once you order it online); there's a guide in the General section which has all the info you need (search for replace USB charger board). Do that, then see if you can get a successful Odin flash. If you can, happy days. If you can't, then you replace the motherboard one way or another (or get a new phone).
This may or may not fix your problem; it may be a case of the NAND corrupted and the USB board needing replacing, but you're only going to know if you replace the board first.

Initially it seemed fairly obvious it was likely NAND corruption, though in the OP's last post to this thread, the things he mentioned suggested a faulty USB board may have been stopping him getting a successful Odin flash.
So it was suggested he replace that given how cheap it is to do, and to try flashing stock again. That was a week ago, and depending on where in the world the OP is, he may well be still waiting for the part to arrive.
Actually i got confused bcoz he again told he can boot in download mode then his mother board cant b faulty its the usb port maybe
