[Q]Journey to optimal 2.2 - (Am I missing anything?) - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If it matters I've got a sony ericsson X10i from AT&T (North America)
already rooted, using a stock 2.1 rom with .54 baseband.
I want to switch over to 2.2 and fully optimize my device.
This is the procedure I believe I need to go through.
Please tell me if I am missing any steps.
1-Use flash tool to install latest baseband (.55 right? I would appreciate a link to this)
2-Reroot?
3-Install Busy Box and SuperUser Access
4-Install Xrecovery using flash tool?? (would appreciate link)
5-Install "TMR_CM_6.1.3_DesireX10"
6-install dual touch
7-install JIT (Is there a guide to do this for 2.2?)
8-install App2sd (Is there a guide to do this for 2.2?)
So am I missing anything?

dont worry bout the baseband all you need to do is root it (if not yet rooted) install xrecovery, move TMR .zip to your sd card open xrecovery on phone back up rom if you want factory reset wide dalvik cache wipe cache and install custom zip then boot thats it.
might want to install gapps afterwards.
if you already have BB .54 it will keep dual touch and jitm busy boxm xrecovery etc are already included in the rom.
i'm not sure bout the app2sd thing

Use recovery to install, don't use flash tool. Most ROM are released for installing via recovery.
6-install dual touch
7-install JIT (Is there a guide to do this for 2.2?)
8-install App2sd (Is there a guide to do this for 2.2?)
All is included in 2.2

There`s a big confusion here.
1. You don`t need to flash with latest .55 baseband unless you want to. You can find baseband HERE;
2. If you already have root and xRecovery, just install your desired rom directly through xRecovery. ROM
3. If you don`t have xRecovery or others go HERE, download Flashtool and install. If you have ANY dough go HERE to see how FT work.
4. You won`t need to install ANYTHING after. All these ROM/MOD came with all that pre-installed (root, xRecovery, JIT, app2sd, dual toutch, blá, blá, blá)
Period!
Don`t confuse the man. Don`t talk about you don`t really know!!!
Cheers,
Rendeiro

i think z has released an apk for the xRecovery installer.
all you do is to install the apk, then run it.
you'll find the install xRecovery button in that app.

Well I'm using the ROM of which you've listed in the second link. Here are some tips and see if they help:
1. Make sure you have the latest SE firmware (2.1.1.A.0.6 and baseband version: 53404015) Do this by checking software updates with SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service)
2. Ensure you've got the right Xrecovery version. Download and unpack and flash THE ONE BUILT FOR THE MINI PRO or else some features in xrecovery may not work or even brick your device.
3.Remember to wipe Dalvik Cache and do a factory reset in xrecovery BEFORE you install any of these ROMs.
4. You may also wipe battery stats before you install the ROM, but I don't think this is essential.
The install should be flawless if you follow every of the steps listed by the devs who developed the ROM, and take these steps above only as an advice...I'm not responsable for bricking your lovely phone...
Enjoy CyanogenMod experience after the install!
thanks man (are you God), the system is already running. and do not know yet how I doninstalovat patches on the keyboard backlight, GPS and camera?
assuming you want to install apps:
Market or apk's or *.zip files (which you can install with xrecovery)
I mean, I do not install the latest 3 hotfixes for this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041099
A try install by Xrecover, but without changes......

SE X10 mini Pro Android Install 2.2 or 2.3

Hi All,
I wanted to ask whether one can help me where and how can I install Android Froyo 2.2 or Ginger Bread 2.3. Because I can not and does not know English so well that works out of the 100%. It would be nice if you can help me.
Thanks in advance.
First of all you need to root your phone. Then install xRecovery or ClockWorkMod Recovery (recommended) and then put the room in your sd card and flash it with either xRecovery or CWM Recovery. NOTE that the roms are targeted to one of these two recoveries.
Just look up the tutorials, since we can help you only in english (or at least we have to provide bilingual posts with english and language X), you can read these tutorials. What ist important: You have to _always_ know what you are doing, this is even more important when you are working in your filesystem. Screwing files up, could mean that you have to use SEUS to unbrick your phone.
But here are some steps.
First root your phone with SuperOneClick.
Download a BusyBox installer rom the market and install BusyBox
Get somehow root explorer (or any other explorer that can mount your /system as R/W)
Then look for the xRecovery installer vom slade87 or D4rk.
(You can go into recovery with pressing Back while the SE logo appears)
Install xRecovery with the provided steps.
Now you have to make your choice:
CM7 14.5 (Gingerbread) could as far as i know only be flashed with xRecovery, but i recommend flashing a nice Froyo rom (FroyoComb or Cyanogen Froyo, they both based on the same ROM but i prefer FroyoComb. Basically they are the same). For flashing them you need ClockWorkMod recovery (which will be used in future anyways, cause you cant brick your phone with it).
Go to the thread of ClockWorkMod and download the file. You have to install it manually, so lock at the permissions of the files you replace. When youve done all correct your recovery screen will be yellow. And now you can flash a custom zip. FroyoComb or Cyanogen Froyo, your choice.
Hope this was helpfull

You could also use the xrecovery apk for quick install, as long as you know how to work with it.
Here is the page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878426&highlight=xrecovery
Credits go to zdzihu and D4

thanks to all for now.
It is this: the X10 Pro I have been rooted with SuperOneClick.
I also have the Xrecovery as the BusyBox Insatlliert.
But how do I install the: Cyanogen Froyo CM6-Latest (based on MiniCM)
- Release v5.0 Final reuploaded?
I've read that you install it through Xrecovery or CWM must, as
because it works?

The easiest way to install CWM on Stock Rom for Mini Pro

1. First you need to root your phone. The easiest way is by using Superoneclick:Superoneclick
2. Then you need to install xRecovery because CWM cannot be instaled on Stock Rom( I tried but with no success). You can use this: AIO Automatic Instalation Script
3. After that download this package:cwmr3_xrecinstall and put it into SD card
Boot into xRecovery and instal this custom zip.
This is how i did it and get CWM for STOCK ROM
I can't install(or run) xRecovery on my Stock rom,
The device is already Rooted with SuperOneClick, and have a root file manager, installed busybox, terminal and the AIO script, but isn't work, just install the dualtouch driver, the JIT but it says the xRecovery is installed as well, but when I reboot the phone and try to enter in recovery just turn on normaly.. I don't understand what happen.. any idea??
I did this 4 times this weekend while testing stock ROM again on my Mini Pro:
Root with SuperOneClick.
Busybox from market (with Busybox Installer).
AAIS from [Updated]AIO Automatic Installation Script For X10 Mini/Mini Pro-Firmware 2.1.1.A.0.6
Install XRecovery from AAIS.
Install CyanoComb (the version I still had in SD) that comes with CWM, reboot in CWM.
Install whatever ROM you like using CWM
Hehe you guys must have missed something.. I have done like 4 resetts with seus on 2 days..
Root then aais to install cwm and that worked for me directly.. No probs here..

[Q] Unable to install custom ROM - WB-XPERIA TW Gingerbread V4.0.0

Hi,
I have installed the Android GB 2.3.3 in X10i using SE PC companion software 2 days back. phone is working really fast, battery life improved. I have installed X-recovery and rooted my phone after getting the necessary guidance. the phone is rooted now and i can reboot into x-recovery.
I want to install custom ROM by WB-XPERIA TW Gingerbread V4.0.0. I have downloaded and copied the .zip file to my SD card. i rebooted in x-recovery, but when i update the custom.zip, it give me a error
" E: can't mount SD card
Installation aborted
please guide me on this as soon as possible
Regards
Uday
I think that maybe this is caused if you are not using the latest version of x-recovery. Wolf wrote about it at the the start of the thread under the installation instructions. You could try that. Someone else here might be able to advise you better...
Hi,
correct you need a GB ready xRec version. There is an update for the FlashTool which contain this new version.

I already have the latest version of xrecovery 0.3, but still i am getting the same error.
I checked in some of the forums and I heard that we cannot install a custom ROM with rooted android 2.3.3. we need to flash android 2.1 and install this custom ROM which has got the latest kernel and baseband .71. Is that true, can anyone confirm it ?

I recommend flashing back to 2.1, extra step but it's worth it having the clean install.
What I did:
Flash 2.1 in Flashtool
Root 2.1 in Flashtool
Install Xrecovery in Flashtool
Reboot in Xrecovery
Factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
Wipe battery stats
Flash GB ROM
Do NOT reboot, remove battery to reset phone
Flash BB .71 in Flashtool
Reboot and ur good to go!
I haven't had any problems since I switched back to WB's new version

I would go with this also if you are having problems. You can get the stock 2.1 ROM if you need it by searching for the Flashtool. The stock ROMs are on the same post (I cant add links here, sorry!).
I'm also on V4 of Wolfbreak ROM and it's the best one i've used so far!

[Q] Need Help : Install Instruction for FeraLab GB v29 ~Sirius~ ROM

Hi all X10 fans..
I am also 1 of X10 fan.
I have X10 with
Model - X10i
Android version - 2.3.3
Baseband version - 2.1.71
Kernal version - 2.6.29-000540g5f01537
[email protected] #1
Build number - 3.0.1.G.0.75
I have Installed a 2.3.3 year ago with the FlashTool only, without using xrecovery or other recovery s/w,
and haven't got attracted by any other ROM ever since i have seen your fantastical work of feravolt for.
I would like to go for Installing FeraLab GB v29 ~Sirius~ ROM now,
But For the Initial Start I would like to ask you for a little push.
The way feravolt have specified in "feralab.ru" is a bit Fast, and as i said i was not into upgrading from last 1 year.
Would you please make this simple for me.
I just wanted to know,
1) how can i Install his ROM in my X10 (as specified details above)..?
2) I have Superuser installed in my phone, do i need to Root it. if yes then how?
3) How to find my device have "unlocked bootloader"..?
and if not then how to do it..?
4) is it only installed using xRecovery and not by Flashtool, if yes then how to Boot in Recovery...?
5) How to make partitions.?
6) and further process "Using Aroma ROM Installer thing."..
Thank you in advance for the help..
Note : If some 1 is from India please msg me your contact number so i can talk with you.
If you have Superuser installed on your phone that means it's rooted.
For your bootloader question check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254087
From Fera's site download the ROM and Kernel (locked or unlocked depending on whether you unlocked your BL).
Download latest flashtool and flash the kernel.
Turn on the phone and keep pressing the back button till recovery loads.
You can partition the SD card here if you wish (will delete all data on SD)
Do a clean wipe of everything (data, system, cache, dalvik)
Install the ROM
If you unlocked your BL d/l and install the wifi drivers.
Reboot.
Good luck...
