[Q] flashing Bionix-V 1.2.1 - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

O.K. I'm still a noobie at this so just a simple question. I currently have Bionix-V running and want to flash Bionix-V 1.2.1. Once the rom is on the internal sdcard and I reboot in recovery do I simply install zip from sdcard, or do I have to wipe data?

Its always good to wipe data/factory reset, its one of the CWM options, then flash, BUT before you flash, backup your apps through Titanium Backup and you'll be good to go, after you flash bionix v 1.2.1, your phone will take a while to boot up, when it does, let it stand alone for 10 min, then hold the power button to reboot so it clan clear aany bugs when it was flashing, then restore all your apps through titanium, and then your set!

actually Bionix should wipe by itself, no need to choose that option in CW.

i need help fast

hey my droid eris i just got it and i instantly rooted it n then after about an hour i left it on and didnt use it it just turned off and the battery was half way full
Turn it back on?
Have you gone through ALL the rooting steps? Or did you just flash PB00IMG.zip and you're using whatever that has?
This is what I'd do:
If you have Amon's Recovery image installed, go download Ivan's 0.8T2 ROM, put it on your SD card, start up your phone while holding VOLUME UP + POWER, wipe Factory data, wipe Dalvik Cache, Flash from Zip, and flash Ivan's 0.8t2.
Then see how your phone works.

fission 2.4.3

i just installed fission 2.4.3 for the droid 2 global. now, when i turn it on, it loops at the screen with the word android that repeated;y glosses over. it keeps looping through this animation. p.s. i have a clockwork backup but i really want this to work
Did you wipe cache/data? This usually happens when you don't wipe, so you should try wiping. Turn off your phone, then while holding x, turn the phone on to get into recovery, and in recovery wipe cache/data

I would suggest you restore your backup and try again, except this time wipe cache/data. I had the same problem too. However, I got into clockwork recovery mode by pulling out the battery during the M logo, not by holding X. Try whatever works for you!
There's no need to do it again. Wipe your cache and data and you should boot right up.
I had this same problem. It was because when installing the rom for the first time, I only deleted the cache when installing from the Fission ROM Manager, and not cache+data.
In the end I needed to re-SBF the phone, delete cache+data, root, install Droid2Bootstrapper & FRM, then follow the instructions properly
Can somebody delete this post? I hate vBulletin. It is extremely insecure, and doesn't have all the necessary features one would expect from a bb.

uh oh, booboo time, restored rom manager backup, phone not working

Guys,
We all know you have to pay to play.....
Used rom manager to restore my 2.1 backup I made before I flashed to bionix 1.3.1.
Just wanted to learn how to do the restore should I run into issues.
Everything went fine, I say it copying the files, etc etc. Didn't see any errors, phone rebooted on it's on but never came on fully.
Phone has been stuck on "VIBRANT" logo on the screen for quite a while.
What's the steps to get my phone working again?
I hope it's not a big UGH.
EDIT: I just restarted phone and with the two volume buttons depressed and after vibrant flash I hit the home button and somehow got into clockwork recovery mode. trying to restore the bionix 1.3.1, will report back shortly
EDIT: restore worked with bionix and is back up and running.
Why did the bionix restore work but not my back up for 2.1????? Is this because the original restore was performed from rom manager and second restore was performed from clockwork recovery mode?????
Did I luckily avoid a brick situation?
Doesn't back up your kernel. So you restored a 2.1 rom running a 2.2 kernel =bootloop

odin or reflash bionix if its still on your sd card then put a 2.1 kernel on then flash that then restore ??
So as per my OP I restored bionix and all worked fine.
What was the point of backup up my 2.1 version if I can't restore back to it since the kernels are different???
If I want to restore my 2.1 version, via clockwork recovery, what's the process. Is there a way to delete the kernel or wipe it first if I need to go back to 2.1?
I know the odin way, but the clockwork recovery console is so easy and convenient?
download any 2.1 kernel and put it on your internal sd . After you have your kernel just restore your nandroid and before rebooting flash the 2.1 kernel .
I'm new to the whole kernel thing to be honest. By putting it on the internal SD card, what does that accomplish, I'm sure it has to get installed somehow, no?
Another quick question, why do some roms require to clear davlik and cache and some don't?
Is it something that can be done regardless if a rom directions say to do it?
Just getting more noob stuff out of the way.
sometimes they include that in the rom so u dont have to but as a rule always wipe dalvik and cache and data.
Excellent, thank you

Like I said flash the 2.1 kernel. You could download a flashable zip. Place it on your sd then after restoring your nandroid backup flash the kernel by selecting "install zip from sd" in recovery.

How do you get to omfgb on ed01

How do you get to omfgb on ed01 I tried flashing cwr it only comes up once then wont come up again. Then im curius, will I lose all my apps and stuffw
It only comes up once because your stock kernel overwrites recovery after a reboot. To get it to stick, you have to flash a different kernel when it boots into cwm that first time. I'd suggest reading a lot more of the stickies, as well. Good luck!
Best bet is to read the related posts but since i am a nice guy!
1)Pop Battery and put into download mode and Odin CWM4 for CM7
cwm4-http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1190668
look for the "attached files" at the bottom of the first post
2)when odin is finished put the battery back in and hold down both volume rockers and the power...Dont let go until you see "Samsung"
3)Wipe files\factory restore, wipe cache, and in advanced wipe Dalvik cahce
4) flash the GB rom from SD card
GB- I assume you know which thread to get the rom at!!!
5)When the flash is done reboot phone from the CWM menu.
6) let it boot fully to the rom
If "Gapps" or Google Apps is not included
7) use the shut down menu to reboot into recovery
8) Wipe files\factory restore, wipe cache, and in advanced wipe Dalvik cahce
9)Flash Gapps for GB
Gapps-http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1191063
10)When the flash is done reboot phone from the CWM menu
11) Enjoy a GB Fascinate

What the (*&^(*&^ am I doing wrong?

I was on a JB ROM that was starting to get sluggish for whatever reason. I just learned of Helly Bean ROM. I find the link on rootzwiki and download it and copy it to my phone's SD card. I press/hold power choose reboot and choose recovery. I know not to 3-finger boot to recovery in this stage so I use the ROMs reboot to recovery option. I make a backup of the current ROM. I then wipe dalvik, wipe cache, and finally i wipe data (factory restore) same as I've done a million times before. I choose install Zip from SD card choose the zip, the phone begins to install the ROM cuz I can see the little blue bar start and suddenly BAM! the damn phone reboots and stays stuck on the stupid SAMSUNG logo! WTF? I donwloaded the right ROM for the Fascinate and I didn't see any errors on the screen. The phone just reboots and stays stuck!
**** it! I'm going back to my Incredible.
odin back to stock and start over...if you need instructions click on the link in my sig!
