Dear XDA World,
I have just recently rooted my phone using the superoneclick root on my 2.2 Froyo Vibrant after a good month of research. Currently, I am running Eugene's R2 Final Gingerbread ROM, and I love it; it is very stable and intricately in tune with the Vibrant's functionality. Now, my problem currently is flashing to a voodoo lag fix (frustrating as hell). Anyway, I have tried the JL4 voodoo. zip, because that is what this ROM is closest to, I believe. When I copied to SD card, and went into clockwork recovery to install, it failed, saying, "installation failed," or something similar to that. I thought that voodoo wasn't working for some reason, so I tried to flash Nero v3's ROM: same outcome. If anyone would take time to help out a new user, I would very much appreciate the help. I wish to put voodoo lag fix on this R2 ROM, to be clear. Please be descriptive.

It might be the verification signature.
Go to clockwork recovery then go to install .zip and the toggle verification. Try now.

I love r2. I don't see the need for voodoo.

OK, so after having to hard reset and flash my Odex UVJL4 Rom again. since OCLF is now gone. I want to try the Voodoo Lag Fix instead. been reading it uses EXT4 instead of EXT2. which seems better! OK, so any flashable Voodoo Lag Fix that will work with my Rom without any issues? Would like to use Rom Manager if possible! I found stock+Voodoo-Froyo-T959-UVJL4-unsigned-update file in one of the other post but is that one for my Rom? says something about not for e2 or e3 recovery.
just making sure! Thanks a million!
This one is the one I'm talking about! will this work with my Rom! Thanks!

Yes flash thru rom manager. After you flash it will take several minutes to convert to ext4. A robotic female voice will keep you updated. Don’t do anything to your phone during this time.

Any issues with the voodoo lag fix?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
None at all. Its not as scary as you would think. Its really easy to disable with supercurios kernel.

Ok so sorry about asking so many questions. So where do I start? Already got Rom Manager installed. What do I do now? I'm using just odex uvjl4 rooted stock Rom. Downloaded the voodoo uvjl4 flashable Rom. What do i do with the Rom now? Thanks a million!

Its cool. I just hope I can help out. Put the kernel on your internal sd card and flash thru rom manager. That's it. It will take some time to convert to ext4 so be patient.

You don't have to do anything with your rom. Your only replacing your kernel.

Ok I heard the ladies voice. But how do I know if the voodoo lag fix is installed? And how do I turn it off if I want too. Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If you heard the voice then it installed. You can always run a quadrant score to make sure. If its around 1400+ then its installed. Around 1000 and its not. To disable go to recovery by 3 button combo. Volume rockers plus power. That will take you to a red clockwork menu. You will see voodoo as an option go into it to disable or to re-apply.

Don't use rom manager to get to recovery. It wont take you to the red recovery.

Coolio! So it converted the file system to ext.4 same as the nexus s uses? Awesome!

Yes it do. I've flashed boot animations and black froyo without disabling voodoo and haven't had any issues. But make sure you disable when necessary.

Look at the Vibrant Bible Thread. Scroll down to kernels and download the kernel of your choice.

Assuming you already have root just download the rom and place on the sdcard in NO folder then from clockwork app reboot into recovery and make sure to disable lagfix first if present then goto choose zip from sdcard and fine your rom then flash.

if your rooted and have CWM, I would just flash a 2.2 rom...lots of choices and nero has been replaced by bionix v
Oh.. I havent rooted mine yet.. Because when I was trying to root my phone yesterday it failed..coz mine was upgraded to 2.2.. That's why I was thinking to go back to 2.1 eclair. Then try to root again.. Hmm thanks though.. I'm new from this..

Ok.. Thank you so much! This is my first time to upgrade my phone and im scared i might brick it...

I used the SuperOneClickRoot with no issues, just follow the direction to a "T" and you should be fine. It adds everything needed.
I just recently updated to Froyo 2.2 (KA6) using Kies Mini. I have searched around on how to root the 2.2, but to no avail. I have tried using SuperOneClick v1.7 and it seems to not work when I try it.
Could anyone please refer me to a link on how to successfully root my phone or you can just show me how to do it here? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Just downgrade to 2.1 with odin then use Z4 root then flash rom that is 2.2 and ur good I recommend trigger amazing speed with better battery life then bionix in my opinion

I'm not familiar with Odin. Where can i download it and where to look for instructions for it?
You can use a pc app called super one click, i used it to root my vibrant after updating through kies. You can find it in the vibrant app and themes section.

I've tried using SuperOneClick but every time i run it, it says no space is available when it's trying to copy some files like busybox. Any idea on how to go about with this?
All the info you need is in the Noob Guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
Or you can look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925400
I've finally got my phone rooted. Thanks for the response guys!
Now on to finding a rom/kernel that has a long battery life, smooth, and gps works. Any recommendations?
Great. Sorry for the late reply but I just saw your pm, anyway glad you got it up and running.
I recommend trigger or the new 2.2.1 Bi-Winning Rom. I've used both of them and TBH the latter is simply the best Rom I've ever ran on my vibrant. Extremely snappy and very smooth.
I never had a problem rooting before but now I cant get super one click to work. I have all drivers installed but when I try to get shell root to get 3e recovery super one click freezes at waiting for device. I rooted using the update.zip format.
SuperOneClick v1.5 worked for me. Froyo 2.2, KA5.
I was running miui 1.7.1 and tried to flash the .3 update and went into a bootloop. I odin'd back to stock using the atlas pit and eclair stock image and checked the re-partition box. Everyrhing went fime but now i cant go back to miui or the gb cyanogen tests!!! I try to flash and it starts then says instalation aborted everytime. I love the aosp roms and want to go back to miui if possible. Can anyone help? Comrom is awesome but im hooked on the aosp roms. Any help or ideas are welcome. Please and thanks.

Which cwm are you using to try to flash miui again?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Tried flashing a few versioms. Starting with the original release up to the brand new one. And tried the 1st cyanogen and the last. Neither work. Same instalation aborted message.

My bad. Just realized what you asked. Im using red. The same one that installs with comrom 2.0. Do i need to switch to orange? And if so do you have a link possibly? Seems like i used red the 1st time to flash but maybe im having a stupid moment and forgot i switched to orange?

I can't seem to get the link to stick so go to jt1134's post on cm7 and in the first post at the bottom are 2 new cwm files...1 odin version and 1 zip file...these are to be used if having problems getting cm7 Or miui to install..if you don't have your pc handy download the zip file...flash it with your current cwm and then select reboot recovery and you will have the fixed one...then wipe data/cache/dalvik and try to install cm7 or miui...not sure what one you wanted to go to?

Pretty weird....but installing the new recovery isn't what actually did the trick. I did that, tried to flash and got the same error. Then was Finns try again and accidentally flashed the new otb kernel instead of cm7. Rebooted then said, what the hell, and tried cm7 and it worked. Thanks for all your help man. I really appreciate you taking the time to give advice!

Yeah, I tried flashing the "fixed" CWM as well and when I booted into it and tried to flash CM7, it gave me an error as well.
I ended up using CWM red (i believe) to start the install of CM7 and then that rebooted me into orange and did the install (if I recall correctly).
...all I remember is that it wasn't like my previous installs, and it wasn't like the steps that had been presented to me on the forums.
Yeah. Its odd. The 1st time I did it I did it from red cwm with no problems whatsoever. Then flashed my orb kernel afterwards. And from previous experience I always flash the rom 1st and then the kernel. But I'm just glad I'm back to aosp goodness for now. Lol. Don't care how I got there....just glad I'm there.

yeah its weird. i had a heck of a time getting back to aosp also. something about juggling red and orange and wiping in between all flashes that finally got me back where i needed to be.
