Hi
The only reason why I want to buy an Andriod HTC is because Andriod boasts thousands of apps on the market (I don't want an IPhone).
I'd like to consider other phones such as WP7 and all the rest, but I'm reluctant to do so as I've been told IPhone and Andriod Market have thousands of apps. It's occured to me though that Windows 7 is simply a mobile version of the OS I'm using on this laptop right now, so theoreticaly I should have access hundreds of thousands of apps. Can someone enlighten me?
Thank you
Windows Phone 7 is not at all a mobile version of Windows 7, it's a completely different OS, a different way to think, different from computer OS, but also different from other mobile OS...
Sure, there are "only" 9,000 apps on the WP7 marketplace (personnally I would say there are already 9,000), don't forget that Windows Phone 7 was only released last september
So WP7 doesn't support Windows programs because they are not the same systems
If you want tons of apps, choose Android/iOS
If you want a great/smooth experience, and discovering apps while they are coming, choose WP7

What if you want to go the other way around with emulation and run your favorite Android apps on your PC? Well, you can do that too. BlueStacks' App Player is a program that you install on XP, Vista or Windows 7 and then you can run Android apps on it. Over a million people downloaded and installed the alpha version, but the latest version (beta-1) runs many more apps and it's also a free download. Some major companies apparently see the potential for App Player to be a hit, as Qualcomm just recently joined Citrix, AMD and others as an investor in BlueStacks.

This brings up an interesting idea. What if you ran windows arm on your tablet then used that to run this and used this to run windows arm again and so on. Appception?

Android apps are java apps so theoretically multi-OS. Some of them need some specific Linux libraries to run. That's probably the goal of this app.
Like Wine in Linux that converts windowsAPI calls in Linux API calls..
I am interested in investing in one of the new android tab/laptop combos coming out soon and am interested in what programs can android not run. I love android and the ease of some features vs current i5 laptop. But everyone says android is not good for productivity and confused as to what they mean. Could you elaborate on the subject unless I am a developer or creating videos what cant these new machines do? thank you
You can browse the internet, write texts, watch movies/videos, play games, and some more things. Nearly all the basic functions of a computer should work

Hey,
I will get my android device soon. It'll be HTC one M7 with Android 5.0.2
Im thinking about applications that should I install as im new to Android. I want to keep my data private and my phone very fast. Which applications should I use to keep phone "fresh" and secure? I will surely use some permission managers and Aptoide shop instead of Google play one. Of course there's root access. Im in computers and electronics for many years so I search for powerful applications, not idiot-proof that I see on GP shop. ROM will be Viper 8.0 but AFAIK this is not that important as version.
I was using jailbroken WP 7.5 and I was happy before but that system is deprecated now. I would like to customize system more but keep it fast as WP7 was.
I would also like to ask how to "ungoogle" the phone and disable crap like data synchronization to google servers etc.
I will also try to modify system as I know some programming languages
I will be happy to get any advices from You
Thank You in advance
Regards
Little bump because I think question is easy but it got digged.
Hi dears,
It's my first post here and I'm very excited about this
I have more than 15 years experience in programming and I developing Android Apps since 3 years ago.
In my new job in a company, we have devices that produce in China. This device is an android tablet just like as other android tablets. We have some apps that just play music and video from our servers for our customers in free and paid mode.
Now we think that maybe it's better if we make a custom Android OS for our tablets that just have our apps and nothing more. And even users can not install new apps or change settings or other customization on our tablets.
Now I want to know is it possible with creating a new ROM or I must be worked deeply on android os and what do you think in general?
From where I can start and what's the roadmap for this project?
Thanks in advanced,
AndroiderMan
We have a hundred tablets running Android 4.0.4
We would like to give them to all students in our school who cannot afford a new computer. It would be used to use the gsuite apps but the Android version is too obsolete to install these apps.
I ask the developers of this forum to help us. Can you make a rom to use these Exagerate XZPAD700 Tablets?

Wondering why the need for an Android 4.0.4 custom ROM?
G Suite is Software as a service (SaaS) , means users have to connect to and use cloud-based apps over the Internet.
Think you don't have to install anything other than a bowser on tablet to make use of G Suite, if not already done yet.

Unfortunately, the gsuite apps we use are mainly classroom and Meet. But above all meet is the app we use most. To use Google meet we need to download from the play store, but it is available only for Android 5.0+ If instead we want to use Google meet in the browser in desktop mode, it tells us that the browser is not compatible. I have tried with other browsers for example dolphin, opera mini, uc browser etc. but it is the same problem. Ultimately we cannot use Google meet with these tablets and we have many. It's a shame not to be able to use them for students who don't have a computer.
To try out whether the tablets's Android is upgradeable or not, run the Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) what is a free, commercial-grade test suite, available for download here. The CTS runs on a desktop machine and executes test cases directly on attached devices .
