Hi Guys,
Has anyone based in the UK received the OTA notification prompting to update to the 7008 rom yet??
Many Thanks
mjpringles
Nope not yet, I was reading a forum yesterday saying the update wouldn't be released to the public until late March early April thanks to the problems 1 in 10 Samsung handsets have had.
im getting it here 7004:7008 in zune for mozart, located in copenhagen... but!!! it doesnt work. i get the 801811a5 (connection error) and no update happens.
its a common thing i figure and its not related to firewall or anything.. personally i figure its a lame excuse and actually related to the phone itself instead or an os-bug
A new thread wasn't needed, you could of posted this in a existing windows phone update thread.

Hi guys.
So recently i got my very first touch phone.
I've had a sony ericsson w800i for like 6-7 years now.
So i'm really all new to the entire touchmobile scene and stuff.
Rooting sounds interesting, but i have no idea if i can even do it on my mobile, let alone do it without bricking the phone.
Now i got a lot of questions and rooting does sound interesting.
But i was still hoping people here could maybe guide a new guy in the right direction?
I've read this article : Erhm, can't post links yet it seems. But it was the link to a wiki article about why one should root his phone.
and it sounds very good.
My phone model is: HTC Hero
Firmware: 1.50
Basebandversion: 63.18.55.06EU:6.35.06.18
Kernal system: 2.6.27-8dd6deee
Version: 2.73.405.6 CL#61267 release-keys
softwareversion: 1.0.0.A6288
Can i root my phone?
I'm not bound to any telemarketing company or anything. The phone itself is not from vodafone or anything of likes.
And also, if i do decide to root my phone, would i be able to install the 2.1 sense update thats scheduled for the htc hero something in april(hopefully)?
Best regards
Kuresu
Im also new here, been reading up on Android for a while though.
What i can say for sure is, YES, you can definately root your Hero. There are are number of different guides on here.
And secondly, rooting shouldn't affect you being able to get the 2.1 update once it is available, infact, if you root, youe can try 2.1 roms NOW.
A good place to start is the "XDA-Wiki", there is a link on the brown bar near the top of the page. Once you have clicked that link, on the new page it brings up, go about half way down the page to the HTC section, click "HERO". On that page, under "rooting" there is a link called "Method 1 - Dayzee's NEWBIE Walkthrough guide". That should be all the info you need. I have not done it myself yet, my new Hero should be delivered tomorrow.
Good luck!
Thanks a bunch Ddot.
Have you gotten your phone yet?
Did you root yours?
Theunlockr.com is a great source for rooting etc (newbies are often pointed to that site)

Yep yep yep,... It was delivered last Friday,... I haven't put it down since!!!
Yeah I rooted mine,... Followed this guide,... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253 ...Then installed the latest Modaco Custom ROM.
I decided not to play with the 2.1 ROMs as there were a few bugs reported.
The Modaco ROM is excellent, no complaints about the phone whatsoever. Now patiently waiting for an official 2.1 ROM.
If there's anything else you need to know, ask away, I've learnt a lot this past week, and if I cant help, there are plenty of others ready , willing and able.
P.S,... Apologies for the late reply, I didn't subscribe to the thread so wasn't notified of replies. I'll do it now though.
Peace
Hi there,
I'm rather new (so sorry if these are dumb questions) to all this flashing / rooting / de branding and had a few questions about it..
Well i bought the x10 on mobile network 3 (three uk) and tbh they are ****. First phone i had i debranded using the SEUS copy file method over, but since then i have had them replace the phone. i tried the same method but as SE have updated SEUS i can't get it to work... :|
So looking around i started reading up on rooting.
Firstly if i follow this guide forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711907 will that debrand the phone to the generic firmware?
If that is the case will i then be able to get future updates through SEUS or not?
If i rooted the phone, would there be anyway to go back to the so called unrooted version?
And lastly, what are the other pro's and con's of rooting?
Thanks, and sorry if these are silly questions!

Hi.
They aren't silly if you don't know the answer, but considering a search of the forum and browse of the guide (which you could have posted this question on) would have given you the answers it's an annoying post.
Read the rules and browse THIS section.
i had been researching the topic for 2 days before i posted here, i understand the majority of it just not the questions posted above.
i followed the link you posted but it did not answer my main question
will that debrand the phone to the generic firmware?
If that is the case will i then be able to get future updates through SEUS or not?

After searching google with can I run seus after rooting, I found this thread - [Q] Questions about rooting my X10i
Total time, 30 seconds.
thankyou
sorry, just seen so many posts about it didn't know what to properly search for
pardon my ignorance
No worries, but it is frustrating to see new threads asking questions that have been answered a million times already. In future just post on an existing thread instead of starting new ones.
To answer one of your other questions - What is rooting and why should I do it?
yes i can understand that entirely being a member of other forums myself.
In future Existing Posts it is!
Thanks for that link as well, definatly explains things in more detail!

Haxel is correct in saying that you are in the wrong section, but Haxel is confused because you WILL NOT recieve the OTA because you flashed a new rom. If you were just to root your phone and not change your rom, then yes you still would of recieved the update. But because you flashed a new rom, no you will not recieve the OTA from tmo.
Chances are that it will be on here by mid day tomorrow anyways. Thats sooner then you would mostlikely be getting it from the OTA, haha. (if it really does come out)
What exactly do the letters in UEKME stand for?
Is this a stupid question?
Are there any stupid questions?
Is it stupid to ask if there are any stupid questions?
Ok, please ignore questions 2-4 and respond to question 1.
Thank you.
Ultra Elite Kool Mode Extreme!
But no seriously, Samsung gives their system updates names based on the year and month in which they were released. I forget the actual naming system, but the letter correspond to those things.
They are internal Samsung build/release designations, that happen to be displayed in the version information in Settings.
UEKME is the build/version that corresponds to the official OTA TouchWiz update for 10.1 Wifi versions.
I forget what non-Touchwiz official 3.1 was. I'm more familiar with Samsung designations for the Infuse phone, but partially because there are so few of them (UCKD5, UCKE3, UXKG3).

Hi,
I'm asking the same stupid question...
I found here (uh.. not able to post link..)
(I've googled "XWKG7 UEKME" then website response : new.glbenchmark.com)
some informations but.. useful..?
I bought my gTab last week (french version...) and I'm on XWKG7 version...
It's stupid, but I don't know if I can put a UEKME version ROM on my tab...
Well, as I'm a noob, I read, I read, I read before anything...
I've bought the GT-P7510 in the US. After updating it now has the UEKME firmware. Living in Norway I would like to flash the European or Nordic firmware. Can anyone tell me which I need, or are the firmware the same for US and EU?
I have a Samsung note 4 that's Verizon software update failed. The message reads as such YOUR DEVICE DIDN'T UPDATE SUCCESSFULLY. USE THE VERIZON SOFTWARE REPAIR ASSISTANT ON A COMPUTER TO REPAIR YOUR DEVICE AND COMPLETE THE UPDATE. I have followed these directions, and attempted to repair the phone through the assistant many many times. It always fails at 83%. After it fails the small writing in the upper left hand corner states that there is no "pit binary."
I have done a lot of research and found similar posts claiming similar issues so I downloaded not 1 but 3 version on Kies and none of them work because I can not boot up and unlock my phone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have been working on this phone for quite some time.
Thank you,
Phaxxia
did you ever find a fix for this I'm basically in the same boat here
