I have a Samsung note 4 that's Verizon software update failed. The message reads as such YOUR DEVICE DIDN'T UPDATE SUCCESSFULLY. USE THE VERIZON SOFTWARE REPAIR ASSISTANT ON A COMPUTER TO REPAIR YOUR DEVICE AND COMPLETE THE UPDATE. I have followed these directions, and attempted to repair the phone through the assistant many many times. It always fails at 83%. After it fails the small writing in the upper left hand corner states that there is no "pit binary."
I have done a lot of research and found similar posts claiming similar issues so I downloaded not 1 but 3 version on Kies and none of them work because I can not boot up and unlock my phone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have been working on this phone for quite some time.
Thank you,
Phaxxia

Ha, excuse me...4.1.2
Hello all,
I'll start by saying that while I'm no novice to rooting and flashing and general Android troubleshooting, I recently became an owner of the original Droid RAZR. It's currently rooted, with SS3, however I unrooted my stock rom because of performance reasons, but is rooted on Slot 1 of SS3.
For the life of me, I cannot get the device to install the OTA update released on Christmas Eve correctly. I have tried every folder on my SD, and the root of the SD and flashed it in stock recovery. Each time, installation aborts, citing this message:
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I know there are things out there like RSD Lite and another program for Motorola phones, but please keep in my that I'm coming from a rooted Samsung Fascinate and a rooted Droid Incredible. I've never run a Motorola device short of basic rooting, so using any other programs I'm not familiar with.
If anyone has any solution to this, I would greatly appreciate it. If I have to follow steps to get it done in another program I will, just kind of tired of ICS. Thank you so much in advance.

Because there's about ten threads here in three different forums describing how to do it and what you need to do when you get the error you are getting.
You're correct, there are about 10 threads describing what to do, and as I mentioned, all of them are 100% not working for my phone. So please, don't be so quick to judge. Found the solution, none of which were listed here on XDA.

Well you still have SS3, you haven't tried RSDLite, you don't mention droidrazrutility and you don't know what status/error 7 means so that tells me that your assertion that the threads are "100% not working" is not exactly the truth now is it?
Here is a post just a few threads down in this same sub-forum. AND it has a video.

US Cellular LTE SG3 - SCHR530, Was build ALK5 on 4.1.1 and was rooted (using free version mskip's Toolkit) and all was fully functional. When the 4.1.2 android update became available for my phone, I performed manual 4.1.2 download/installation, which completed successfully. Build AMD4.
Donated/upgraded to mskip's pro version Toolkit. Began the re-root - exact build wasn't listed, picked closest, completed process, phone was rooted BUT lost all access to camera and any apps that use camera failed due to camera fail. Unable to find a cure for this particular issue, I used the toolkit to unroot my phone. I RE-applied Samsung android update 4.1.2 and have remained UNrooted until last night.
Ran the Toolkit, toolkit auto-updated to the latest version released (says 4.1.2 build AMD4 is supported) , prepared to root phoneagain I find this exact build (AMD4) is not listed, so picked closest one, completed process, phone is rooted..... BUT AGAIN I have no use of camera!
How can I fix this and stay rooted? Or do I resign myself to not having a rooted phone in order to keep functionality of my camera?
Thanks for any helpful insights to this issue.

I am having the exact same issue, I need my camera and my root, might have to go back to 4.1.1 to get it though.
I'm also on a donated toolkit, please post if you find a solution.
This is the i9300 forum, you are in the wrong place. Also have you tried contacting mskip to raise a query?

Thank you for your acknowledgement, I truly appreciate it.
I did know this is the i9300 forum, and I have tried to contact mskip a number of times, including directly in the thread that the most recent toolkit was announced. Apparently I cannot post in there (?) due to not having enough posts and not being a developer; at least that's what the "error message" is when I tried. And then the advisement that I must post questions in a Q & A. I guess I'm lost!
In any case, I did several searches for the camera issue combined with rooting and I ended up in this forum. I would greatly appreciate it if you could steer me towards the proper place to post - I haven't seen a specific forum for the US Cellular model SG3, and I'll admit - I'm greatly out of practice these days in my forum using skills.

Still no love for my issue, and almost a month later, still the choice of root & no cameras or cameras & no root :crying:
Toolkit support says US CELLULAR MODEL LTE[SCH-R530] support should use AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III forum, can anyone verify for me if that is the correct place to try to post about my problem? Thank you very much!

It does seem that most of that info is out of date and there is no real home for the US Cellular LTE Samsung Galaxy S3, and as far as the other methods, I am just not that savvy - the automated toolkit is slick, but I appreciate your suggestions. Thank you.
As in title, I have the SM-G950F Optus model and tried to root using TWRP and Magisk. Worked fine but had the "Unauthorised actions detected" message. After a reboot, I got the "Official firmwares only" message and couldn't get past the Samsung splash screen. Used the instructions from an xda thread I can't link (new poster) titled: "OFFICIAL STOCK Firmware-update (Odin) thread Samsung GALAXY S8 SM-G950F", but it would fail every time. Eventually I tried only placing the AP section, that worked and I could get into my phone.
The issue now is that the phone believes it is rooted, so I can't use Google Pay, Netflix etc. It also can only access about 9 GB of 64, kinda frustrating.
So I'm just looking for a way to get back to square one, reset completely and forget I even tried.

Hi. I own a Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) (SM-A910F/DS) with Android 8.0 (August security patch). It is now out of warranty. I want to root it. I do have prior experience in rooting my secondary Android phone but this phone is my daily driver and hence want some doubts cleared before attempting to root it using Odin. Following are the questions I need answers for:-
I am just going to root my phone to do some small scale customisation. I don't want to flash a custom or stock ROM. Some sources on the internet say that simply rooting the phone won't trip its KNOX flag while others say it will. What is the truth?
If indeed the KNOX flag gets tripped, will I ever be able to use Samsung Pay on my phone again?
If the KNOX flag doesn't trip, will Samsung Pay work on a rooted phone?
The firmware.mobi site hasn't yet updated the SM-A910F's firmware version to that of Android 8.0. My phone had received the Oreo update on 18th October, 2018. Can I still root my phone using whatever latest CF-Auto-Root package I get from there?
How to know if my phone is encrypted? I am confused about this because I haven't manually enabled any kind of encryption on my phone but since there is so much caution regarding rooting an encrypted phone, I don't want to take any chance.
So, these are the 5 questions which I want satisfactory answers for before I root my phone. A good explanation which will ward off my anxiety will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I understand your frustration but, please remember that developments for devices sometimes take a while before any developments begin to emerge. This is especially true for many Samsung devices too.
Also, the more members who request for a device the better. I can only encourage you to also request for the A9 Series device within the thread from the link that I had provided you with (the last one on my previous post).
Good Luck!

Yes, rooting your phone with CF / TWRP will trip Knox and disable Samsung Pay. Google Pay however will work on a device that has been returned to stock, but not one that has active root. Since it's looking for root as opposed to a Knox bit, this can probably be masked pretty easily if you wanted to use it on a rooted device.
Looking on firmware.mobi, I see 3 releases already for CF on Android 8.0 for your phone.
And your phone most definitely is encrypted. Any Samsung with Android 7.0 from the factory is encrypted. The exception is devices that were running Android 6 or lower that have been upgraded to 7+ and weren't encrypted by the user beforehand.
