[Q] Foolish mistake - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a nice working version of Global 2.1 update 1 for my Chinese X10i.
Then last night it updated with this little add on for Google maps which put me into the new 2.1.55 area. Because of that I lost my network connection, marketplace, root and it slowed the phone down to a crawl.
So I thought, hey, no problem I'll just reflash the Global 2.1. So I tried that...and it made things a ton worse.
I have tried several different times (with the new XDA Flash Tool) to get things up and working, but nothing seems to take at all.
Also, now my phone is sitting at 2.1 update 1. With a baseband of 2.1.54. It's on build number 2.1.a.0.435.
Again though, nothing is working. No network, marketplace or root access. I'm just happy that I backed up my Market apps and contacts a few days ago so they are safe on the SD card. Now I just need to get things working again.
So my question is could someone give me some ideas how to fix my problem?
And, if you could, please include detailed directions since I am not very skilled with flashing. Thanks.

You have to reflash your phone with for example SEUS the official sony ericsson update software. You can find it on the official homepage. When you search for a new firmware it will say there is no newer version but it can fix the original one. Try it.
Or you try the 2.2b4 from Z. Really great stable and all

Does the new 2.2 one still have the Timescape app? I thought you needed that app to use the 8.1MP camera.

Well, I just finished the restore using SEUS. Didn't get the network/wifi back.
Proceeded to use X10 Flash and flashed to the 2.1 Global Generic. Nothing.
Ran X10 Flash for the root, it said it was rooted, but when I actually used it, nothing changed and it's still unrooted.
It's so strange. I know I've got it to work before. I just can't fathom why it won't work this time.

[Q] Market Can't Download [Resolved]

OK after intensive research and tried every possible fix there is, I'm now officially stuck.
When going in to the Market app and trying to download or update something it just says "Starting download..." and stays there.
I've tried force closing market > clearing cache > uninstall update.
That doesn't work. I've tried resetting to factory defaults, and that doesn't work.
This was the case when I also flashed to UK Generic 2.0.A.0.504 a couple of days ago. Which I there after restored back to my working Global Generic 2.0.A.0.504 via xRecovery.
Now I've flashed to Nordic Combined (B) 2.0.2.A.0.24 and it turns out that it has the very same problem.
I could chose to go back to my backed-up Global Generic firmware via xRecovery, but the whole point in upgrading was to get the latest firmware.
I've then read that logging out from Talk and logging back in should solve the problem. But when I try to open the Talk app it just opens up and disappears again like it Force Closes or crashes.
This must be some sort of Google malfunction in the way it connects to my Google account. I've tried reflashing with SEUS, FlashTool and the result always is the same, no Market working.
Hope there is some Wizard that has a way to fix this.
Not a lot you can do if the fixes don't work as mentioned on the other 1000 or so threads on the subject.
I know there is many threads on the subject.
But those didn't help. It can't be right that a simple update renderes a phone completely useless and nothing can be done about it.

Like I said, if it's not working then there isn't much you can do. There was a thread the other day about a "server issue" with gmail, and the op took umbrage with the suggestion that that's what it might actually be, guess what, it was. So sit it out for a bit because the issue is more than likely their end if none of the fixes have worked.
Well it's not at their end, because if I restore back to my old 2.0.A.0.504 my market works again.
When you flashed your phone, did it come with the old version of Market or new version? If it was the old version and it happened to be able to update itself, then there shouldn't be anything wrong with the Market since it was able to update itself.(assuming)
I was having the same problem yesterday when I flashed to the latest version of Global Generic - x10a and rooted the phone myself. The download would say starting, but nothing would download. I had the same results you did after going through all the steps that were supposed to fix it.
After I left it alone for a several minutes, it just started to work out of the blue when I tried again.
Give it some time and see happens. If you have already waited an hour, then I don't know what to say.
Also, which way did you use to flash your X10?

I used to stuck like that. Yes I also did a lot of research, It ended up just like yours.
If you have no idea for now I suggest try to clean the cache partition through xRec, it used to work once for me.
The other ways I succeed is to play around with the market updater as someone told.
I tried to freeze them, but not working.
So I uninstalled it, not working.
So I reinstalled it again, not working.
So at last I decide to clean the cache of Market and Market Updater... suddenly I got new version of market and everything turned to normal.
So, I'm quite sure it's something to do with a cache. I don't believe in a flashing would be a cure for everything now.
Those google talk, google acc, googlemail.com gmail.com blah blah blah thing, it just trigger to change (or currupt) the cache.
From what i have found all seams to work as soon as you connect to a WIFI network
what apps are not downloading
mine were
Angry Birds
Skype
Google Maps
Facebook for Android
Opera mobile
seems to be apps over 4mb
if we find that its the same apps could be abigger issue

[Q] Force close on start up on 2.2 Rom

hello every one. i recently updated my xperia x10 to 2.2. Now I can't get to the xrecovery screen and i keep getting force close windows "The application Launcher (process com.android.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" .... how do i fix this T-T someone please helpme 死ぬ。゜(゚´Д`゚)゜。ウァァァン
Forgot about the new rule
you require more posts to post in the rom section
however i recomend you read forums as opposed to flooding it with questions
i read the forms couldn't find the problem so i posted a question thanks yo...... and i have no help heh
I just started having the same issue.
The thread for freex10 now says in bold red letters that installing busybox + xrecovery would do this. I restored busybox using titanium backup, and this started after I rebooted.
I dont think i installed busy box and xrecovery. I think I deleted the FREE X10 BETA3 folder and gapps_1901_FreeX10.zip folder from my sd card??? I dont remember installing them ;(
Your best bet is going back to 2.1 and then flashing to beta 3 again. Remember this is a beta so its gonna have bugs and its not 100 percent stable yet.

Okay. How do you go back to 2.1 and flashing beta 3?

Use the flash tool.
I flashed my phone to 2.1 then reboot. It still boot as Freex10. It never went back to 2.1
You can only flash roms in ftf file format using flashtool. Also, when I had this problem, flashtool had trouble recognizing the phone as being in flash mode. I just kept repeating it till it finally recognized flash mode and flashed a stock SE 2.1
Then I installed xrecovery and flashed freeX10 beta3, reboot, flashed g-apps & fx10 theme. Deleted xrecovery/busybox from my titanium backup, and restored all my apps and data. Everything's been working as it should again, shut down and rebooted a few times w/o issue.
Thank you. It fixed my phone.
No problem, despite me cursing this phone when it bricked. Once i got everything working again, gotta admit, its still worth it to run the risks of using this beta, its just too much better than the alternative.
This z guy... why doesn't he have a job at SE? I'd just wished he got camera working 100%. SE really needs to offer a stock android experience, it'd save them money on software development, and win them more power user fans imo.

My X10 usually reboots when I use multiple apps(around3+).Ex.data+poweramp. I'm pretty sure it has to do with JIT. X10a 2.1.1.A.0.6 JIT V2

which rom are u using?
i am guessing se stock 2.1? which baseband?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Bottom of the first post:
IMPORTANT:
- You should always wipe userdata if you switch between Android versions (1.6 <-> 2.1). If not your phone will keep restarting all the time. This is the same for some providerbrandings even if you flash between same Android versions. So if you have this restarting problem, flash again with Wipe Userdata. If you don't want to loose your apps you have to backup them with Titanium or some other backup tool!
Regards
Androxyde
Yeah that what i did. i never wiped userdata when i first used flash tool 1.6 branded orange uk -> 2.1 Global Generic
for some reason though the restarts have got worse as of late.
one thing though its been a while since i used flash-tool is the option to wipe user-data there? i know its in xrecovery
and if b wipe user data you mean like a master reset didn't everyone do this when they went to 2.1
Yeah, it's in the latest flash tool. When I first flashed from 1.6 to 2.1 Nordic, my phone would randomly freeze and then reboot. It was really annoying. However, when I upgraded to the newest 2.1 firmware(s) using the new flash tools it doesn't happen to me anymore. I guess it could be considered a master wipe, but I never factory reset my phone before doing it. Flash to the newest firmware and see if it fixes the problem.
Good Luck!
well after reflashing and doing everything by the book its still doing it so im getting another one
I don`t complete get it but i guess you`re on 2.1. Right?
I found that`s really strange.
I switch frequently to/from and vice-versa between 2.1/2.2/2.3x and between different basebands and never had any issue (apart when all this rom thing started a few months ago, cause they`re all instable at the time).
Try with latest flashtool available if you didn`t already.
Check on flashtool thread or on my how-to for firmwares.
Like i said. There`s no reason for that happen and even less if we`re talking of SE ones.

im assuming the phone overheated
Pilot, I believe there was some mention awhile back, possible short / connection problem on sum of the boards, my first x10 battery would heat up and restart over n over.. swapped it at at&t and the new one has worked perfectly for 4 months n 7 diffrent roms!!

Rebooting by himself!

Hi guys. I have probl.
I had new 2.2.2 official rom with which i wasn't satisfied. Then i decide to turn back on 315 2.0 old official rom, but when i put it back he started to reboot (reset) mobile phone a few times and than stopped. But then once i tried COpilot and start using GPS and he again start to reboot. So i thought that is a problem with rom, but when i update it with this new version of official rom...he also start to do reboot by himself, even i use GPS or for example facebook aplication. WTF IS WRONG? Fastboot is original, rom is official...

Try to reflash> is all I have got from the forum!
Even my life has become ugly with 351 !! Damn 2.2.2 !! ( I mean damn the last ".2" ) hehe.
but, hey, why dont you try going to 318? that is looking like a stable base, where many people are!
and, dont forget. do a factory reset after your upgrade!
apparently that is also known to do away with some typical issues, similar to what you see with the Pilot app!
Sony.
btw, the way you went back to 315 is by 'update.pkg' of 315 on SD card and via 'recovery mode' ?
<nothing is rooted, right?>
Oh sorry, it was 318... not 315. And it was fresh clean instalation of new rom.not upgrade.
Reflash? hmmm?

[Q] Mobile Data/3G on Xperia Ray with MIUI (mugetsu's?) or CM7

Hey Guys,
Firstly, i have had a look around the forum for this problem but cant seem to find any solution. Maybe mines a bit more specific? If i missed anything please let me know
I had a brend new Xperia Ray which worked fine with the out of the box SE firmware and all that (3g and everything worked great).
I followed the instructions at CM wiki (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Xperia_Ray:_Full_Update_Guide) and another XDA forum thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253112&highlight=ray) to install CM7. It installed fine, but the problem is the CM7 for ray dont seem to have vibrations/mobile data working. There were complains about this on the CM forums.
Im not sure if its the same thing, i have set up the APN's correctly according to vodafone NZ website. But my 3G icon appears on the top notification bar, but no pages load or have any connectivity for some reason.
So i tried to follow MIUI guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301406) to install MIUI. i used the basic boot file, flashed, and installed the miui zip file using CWM. again, exactly the same issue. mobile data is enabled, symbol appears on the notification bar ('H' appears instead of 3G sometimes, no idea what that means but iv seen that before on the original rom). atleast vibrating works. But yeah, APN's are setup correctly (http://forum.vodafone.co.nz/topic/6978-htc-desire-android-2-2-3g-settings/). Except i cant seem to find the option "MMS Protocol: Wap 2.0" on the apn though.
I then looked at the bottom of the MIUI guide i linked earlier and it mentioned mugetsu's kernel. So i downloaded the boot.img listed there, used fastboot with it. then copied over the Mugetsu-1.zip to the SD, and used CWM to install it. and straight away i copied over MIUI rom zip file, and installed that too. There wasent very noob friendly guide to doing this, so im hoping i did that right. But again, still no luck. exactly the same as before. No Data, but vibrating works.
I also tried downloading SEMC 4.0.2.A.0.42 from (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285977) and used flashtools to flash that. Then i got the stock SE Xperia Ray UI (im guessing that was the original SE Xperia Ray rom). But even there, i still had no luck with the mobile data.
Can anyone help?
Update:
So i tried messing around a lot yesterday but had no luck. I tried the FXP042/FXP045, new MIUI, newest CM. Had no luck at all for the 3g/mobile data.
But today i saw the new version of FXP046 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285977). And just installed it. and weirdly enough that seem to do the trick. the 3g/data works.
Now my question is, can someone figure out what the problem was? Because i really like the way MIUI worked, and i want to try install that. I tried installing MIUI with the boot.img that came from FXP046, but that clearly didnt work (wouldn't boot into MIUI). So can anyone suggest anything else i could try?
from what i can see, FXP045 (and older versions) used CM7.1. The new FXP046 seems to have CM7.2. maybe thats what fixed the bug? the new CM? Thoughts?
it might have to do something with baseband version..
I use miui and have both 3g and vibra working.
My baseband version is : 8x55A-AAABQOAZM-20302204-36
