Bionix 1.3 fix? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I was just wondering if it's necessary to flash the 1.3 fix. I have been running 1.3 without the fix since the day it came out without any problems whatsoever. I see some are having GPS issues after the fix so I'm a bit weary. Any info would be appreciated!
thanks tons!

You aren't using all the features of the ROM/Kernel if you are not running the fix.
Edit: I didn't necessarily mean features, but all the attributes of getting the update 1.3 won't work as expected.

actually just toss the fix. Go back and get 1.3.1
Everything has been working great!

Thanks guys. I decided to just go ahead and install 1.3.1. I appreciate it.

so i went ahead and installed the ROM. so i went from 1.3 to 1.3.1. but i have this problem. The Voodoo headphone amplifier isn't working. When i click on it it says " Headphone amplifier is not supported by this kernel, please run voodoo control app for more details". Then when i go into voodoo control app it says under voodoo sound improvements "sorry this phone doesn't run a kernel supporting extended sound controls".
Can someone pleases help me out!!!! I really love this voodoo headphone amplifier.

I am having the same issue with Bionix 1.3.1 on the Samsung vibrant t-959. My voodoo isn't working. Plus, I noticed on my friends phone that her recovery menu is red, and says voodoo lagfix, while mine is green and doesn't say voodoo lagfix. Neither of our voodoo apps work and say that our kernel is not suported. Any help?

I have the green recovery when I reboot into recovery from cwm in rom manager. But when u pull the battery out while in green recovery and put it back in and turn phone on u will boot into red recovery. Only way I have seen red recovery

OCLF question SOLVED!!!!

For some reason I have not been able to install this lag fix after coming from Eugene's froyo a few weeks back. I have flashed multiple roms and am currently on fusion 1.2. I have enabled the ext2 lag fix that comes with the rom way back when the first version came out which i can only verified that its working by the large file it creates. I have odined back to stock atleast twice and still can't install this lag fix. The error I am getting now is "You already appear to have another lag fix installed! (/system/bin/playogos1 less than 5KB).
So it appears that I have the ext2 lagfix still enabled but when I go through adb and enter the command "mv /system/bin/userinit.sh /system/bin/used" to disable it is says "no such file or directory". Any ideas????
Go into the oclf app and press restore boot animation. Then you should be able to install the lag fix. Hope this helps.

Destroyer of worlds hangs...

I flashed the DoW rom/kernal using clockworkmod on my vibrant and it gets to the boot screen (the screen with tw in brackets and an atom cloud) and just hangs. Anyone know what's goin on?

As far as I know DoW is a kernal not a rom. Make sure it will work with whatever your current rom is. Working great flashed over nero5.
I would odin back to stock, flash custom froyo rom then kernal....
By chance did you have lag fix disabled?......works fine with nero 4.1 and 5 for me.....but I found nerov5 works great without it

Also remember that not all phones will handle the oc'd kernels
if you can get into recovery, you can try flashing a different kernel or reflashing your rom.
I'm currently running Bionix oc/uv and love it.
I DID undo the lagfix before flashing this.
If I could get a link to the stock odin files to flash so I could give the amazing sounding DoW a shot, I'm sure I could get it working.
Im running DoW 1.3 on AxuraJL5, and it does the same thing. i often have to pull the battery for a successful reboot. its sucks, but ive learned to live with it
wrong section to post this in, not to be a drag but its just that these forums can get clogged up with stuff like this if we dont keep posts in order. Q&A or under the DoW thread would suffice.

With all due respect, if I could get into recovery, I wouldn't be posting this...
I made a fresh Nandroid before trying this but I can't get to recovery or anything.

I understand. If a mod moves it, it's all good. Just looking for help...my phone is sitting stuck at the atomic bomb screen still. It's been 2 hrs...just lookin for a hand. :-D Thanks!
have you tried getting it into download mode? i know you said you cant get into recov. but download mode is different.
first, do you know how to get into download mode?
well in short if you dont, when ur phone hangs.. pull the battery. with the bat. out hook it up to ur comp with odin running... as ur holding down the vol. up and down buttons stick in the batt. then you will be in download mode. then flash back to JFD
Maybe im wrong but isn't the dow kernel for 2.2. Didn't he say he was on bionix and isn't that a 2.1?
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
you are correct, i missed that he stated he was using bionix. OP there is your problem, you flash a 2.2 kernel with a 2.1 rom. flash back to stock via my instructions and you willl be fine.
you will need this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
Glad we got that taken care of.before he hard bricked his phone.

lol...I did this with my wife's phone...no boot and no recovery is very disheartening to say the least. lol
So...I flash back to stock using the thread provided and then flash DoW?

after you flash back to stock you of course are going to want to root your phone again, then youre going to want to go to team whiskey and download Nero... a 2.2 rom that works with the kernel. then you will want to flash DoW. I would also consider downloading setcpu because that kernel will drain the heck out of your bat. make sure you dont set to boot with setcpu, and just use the conservative setting.
team whiskey http://teamwhiskey.com/DownVibrant.html
again make sure its a 2.2 rom.
DoW works with any Nero (2.2) Team Whiskey Rom. You have to disable Vodoo LF before flashing, otherwise you will get stuck in a boot loop. Make sure to let the Rom run for a few minutes after flashing before replacing the kernal. You can always pull a logcat to see what your phone is doing when it hangs.

Very fist, I wanna say thanks a million to all the replies and help. :-D
Ok...now...to set the record straight, my phone just tries to boot to the DoW and does nothing after. It just hangs.
Yes. I was running a 2.1 rom (Bionix) with a 1.2ghz oc, the uv kernal and the voodoo lagfix (which WAS DISABLED before flashing) but I thought I did everything right. If I had known that switching from a 2.1 rom to a 2.2 rom would have been this much more involved than I thought, I might have reconsidered...lol
I did a Nandroid backup using clockworkmod prior to doing anything else. I got to the red recovery (not 100% sure how I did it, to be honest) and tried to flash my backup and it didn't work.
I'm going to try the previous post about flashing back to stock, then doing the DoW flash but that's kind of a last resort. I'd like to not wipe my data, nandroid, etc before flashing but it's kinda whatever at this point since my phone doesn't work at all right now...lol
Thanks once again all of you!!! This is what makes Android what it is.

[Q] "Sorry, this video cannot be played"

OK, so just yesterday, I realized that for some reason, I cannot play any videos on my Vibrant. This includes both videos I have put on my phone as well as those I have taken with my camera.
I am running Bionix 1.3 ROM. I searched but didn't find anything. I have not had this issue before. Any help is appreciated.
Reflash,I suggest odin to stock and reflash or try just flashing the new vrs of the overstock kernal.

OK. I've never used Odin before. To be honest, I'm a bit intimidated. Would you suggest using that AIO Vibrant Toolbox to do it?

Don't be afraid of Odin....
true: you can screw up if you use the wrong files or disconnect before it finishes...but if used correctly Odin can be your Vibrant's best friend...
EDIT: I've been having that same problem since KB1.....might be a DRM issue pointed out by Br1ck'd in my thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961841
Yea, but the thing is, it's not just DRM files - it's any video file.
Fixed

but it comes back after some time. yes when you do a reboot it goes away but i after some time it comes back then you have to do reboot again i don't want to do that. why does it keep on doing it in first place. any ideas?
Try a 2.2.1 rom

This happens no matter what if you haven't rebooted in a while. My buddy on his completely stock KA6 was complaining about it all the time, just reboot at least once a day and you will be fine. No Rom will fix this issue that I am aware of but to be honest I have NEVER had this problem by always doing the before mentioned fix.

[q] froyo/sweet honey

I am fairly new to all this and am wondering if I need to have the stock Froyo installed to flash the new Sweet Honey 2.5 ROM. I thought I read that somewhere in the development forums. I am running Bionix 1.3.1, and the battery drains so fast I am looking for something else to try. If I Odin back to stock before I flash Sweet Honey, does it matter what I was using before? Thanks.
Noo you dont need to do nothing...just flash...if you odin back you will lose root...just flash the rom and thats all
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Yup, no need to Odin back unless you are having major issues. Just follow the installation instructions in the thread step-by-step and you shouldn't have a single issue.

I actually just switched from Bionix 1.3.1 to Sweet Honey to try it out and had no problems flashing it. Just make sure to do it from Rom Manager as suggested in the op.
Flashed it last night, and it is working like a champ. The only thing I couldn't do is install the updated G-mail app. When I hit the install button it says it is not installed. I have the most current G-mail app from the market, but I loved the new G-mail icon and would like to get it back. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I flashed sweet honey and i have problems receiving phone calls. then i flashed back to bionix 1.3, and i had alot of FCs. then i tried B 1.3.1 and still had force closes. so now im back to sweet honey. cuz odin wont reconize my phone in download mode
Now that you mention it, I haven't received any calls yet. I tried calling my phone from another phone, and it rings once and disconnects. Did you find a solution? Anyone out there have a solution? It's kind of important to be able to receive calls. I can initiate a call with no problems.
No i havent found a solution. im still trying to get my pc to reconize my phone in download mode. my phone is really messed up lol

You may have to go into Root Explorer, find the gmail app and long press it. You should get a menu pop up. Click fix permissions and make sure that read/write are checked for the first one and only read for the other two.

You two may want to send a message to Explodingboy and see if he can figure it out. I didn't seem to have that issue. My only question would be did you guys flash it like he suggested or did you just flash it through Clockwork recovery? My flashing addiction has taken me to Jellette's Atriarc rom which seems great as well.

Clockwork 3.0 Update.zip

Anyone know where I can get the 3.0 clockwork update.zip? I am currently on blue version and would like 3.0 to flash com rom can someone post the link? All the ones in the stickies lead me to 404 file not found on drop box...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046905
Scroll down below the ODIN packs and you will find the .zip versions.
They are 3.x and come in 3 different colors.
Tested the first link and I was given the download so you should be good to go.
Thank you for posting in the correct section!

No thank you for being so diligent and responding! Two other questions:
How do I know if I am voodoo'd? I have the voodoo folder on my SD card but I do not know if I am actually voodoo'd as I didn't do anything to make myself that way.
Which one of those should I get to flash community rom 2.0?

I will answer these in reverse order as.... well.... it will be easier
Any of them, the colors mean nothing (dont quote me on that) and if you choose the PBJ version of Kangbang (community rom) you will get a yellow one! They all work the same but leading to the first question.....
....When you have the latest CWM3.X there is a voodoo option menu. If you click it you will be showen a list of voodoo check points (what I call them) that will tell you if and where the lagfix (voodoo) is enabled. If you flash a voodoo kernel you will automatically be converted to voodoo. **you will hear a nice robot lady voice tell you upon first start up**
If you just want a simple way of telling right now if you have voodoo. Pop over to the market and type in voodoo. Download the voodoo control app and open it. There is a menu that will tell you if it is enabled or not!
If I was going to do it I would grab the purple version (personal preference) and flash Imnuts's PBJ -50 kernel or the Kangbang (comm ROM) package that the kernel and ROM come in together. That way you will have voodoo, yellow updated CWM3.X, and the famed Kangbang (comm ROM)!
You can check right in CWM (under Voodoo), or via the Voodoo Control app.
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.controlapp
Is there anyway I can download a non-voodoo update.zip as I don't want to go voodoo.

any update.zip will work as far as I know and you can still use the 'voodoo' red CWM 3.x even if you don't want voodoo. I was using it for a while to flash the ComRom package with no kernel. As for checking if you have voodoo enabled, you can do what the others said or run the Quadrant app from the market. If voodoo your score should be 1500+, normally its around a 1000. Of course the scores mean nothing, its just a quick way to tell.
