Clockwork 3.0 Update.zip - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know where I can get the 3.0 clockwork update.zip? I am currently on blue version and would like 3.0 to flash com rom can someone post the link? All the ones in the stickies lead me to 404 file not found on drop box...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046905
Scroll down below the ODIN packs and you will find the .zip versions.
They are 3.x and come in 3 different colors.
Tested the first link and I was given the download so you should be good to go.
Thank you for posting in the correct section!

No thank you for being so diligent and responding! Two other questions:
How do I know if I am voodoo'd? I have the voodoo folder on my SD card but I do not know if I am actually voodoo'd as I didn't do anything to make myself that way.
Which one of those should I get to flash community rom 2.0?

I will answer these in reverse order as.... well.... it will be easier
Any of them, the colors mean nothing (dont quote me on that) and if you choose the PBJ version of Kangbang (community rom) you will get a yellow one! They all work the same but leading to the first question.....
....When you have the latest CWM3.X there is a voodoo option menu. If you click it you will be showen a list of voodoo check points (what I call them) that will tell you if and where the lagfix (voodoo) is enabled. If you flash a voodoo kernel you will automatically be converted to voodoo. **you will hear a nice robot lady voice tell you upon first start up**
If you just want a simple way of telling right now if you have voodoo. Pop over to the market and type in voodoo. Download the voodoo control app and open it. There is a menu that will tell you if it is enabled or not!
If I was going to do it I would grab the purple version (personal preference) and flash Imnuts's PBJ -50 kernel or the Kangbang (comm ROM) package that the kernel and ROM come in together. That way you will have voodoo, yellow updated CWM3.X, and the famed Kangbang (comm ROM)!

You can check right in CWM (under Voodoo), or via the Voodoo Control app.

Is there anyway I can download a non-voodoo update.zip as I don't want to go voodoo.

any update.zip will work as far as I know and you can still use the 'voodoo' red CWM 3.x even if you don't want voodoo. I was using it for a while to flash the ComRom package with no kernel. As for checking if you have voodoo enabled, you can do what the others said or run the Quadrant app from the market. If voodoo your score should be 1500+, normally its around a 1000. Of course the scores mean nothing, its just a quick way to tell.

You no longer need the update.zip in root of SD card to get into CWM recovery.

Nandroid backup question

I noticed something since i updated to JI6 while using Clockwork recovery. while on JFD i was able to do a backup using the following steps:
HOW TO MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP *ALWAYS BACKUP BEFORE YOU FLASH A NEW ROM
1 - Open Rom Manager
2 - Click on Flash Clockwork Recovery (you can skip this if you have already flashed the recovery before)
3 - Click on "Reboot Into Recovery"
4 - At the prompt, click "ok" to reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery
5 - If this is your first time, you may be at the stock recovery on the Vibrant. Thats normal. Click on "reinstall packages" (ALSO: Volume up and down navigate, and power is used to select an item).
6 - Now, you are at ClockworkMod's Recovery. Scroll down (volume down), to "Nandroid" and select it (power button).
7 - Click on Backup. It will run it's course. After it finishes just reboot.
8 - You now have something you can always fall back on in case you F up. Thank Koush and all the testers.
Now when i tried to do a backup on JI6 i no longer see Nandriod option all i see is "backup and restore". is this normal? has anyone else noticed this? will impact the backup/restore process?
That might not be a JI6 thing. Koush just updated rom manager. Thats most likely the reason.

clockworkmod 2.5.1.2
when i select "check for rom updates" it says that i am not set for OTA and i need to contact dev.
Your all good bro! Thats the same version Im running and I just checked, I dont have NANDROID anymore either. That was all part of the recent update I guess.
As for the second question, ROM updates is talking about the actual ROM the phone runs off of, You know like ECLAIR 2.1, or Eugenes or Sombionix's roms. Not the ROM manager APP. The APP will let you know when it needs to be updated, it checks what version you are running versus what the latest version availible is everytime you open it.

what about flashing to a old clockworkmod? or is there no need to? i just want to make sure that when i backup i will not have any issues if i need to restore..
one more Q. any particular way to name the backups? i know there is not that much room to be specific with the name.

well answer my own question, i reflashed clockwork to 2.5.1.1 & 2.5.1.0 and the nandroid option still does not come up only "backup & restore"....
anyone on the best way to name your backups? not that much room to be specific.
if you choose to back up from ROM manager you can name it whatever you want. Just go into Rom manager, tap backup current rom, when the little box pops up click it and change the name to whatever you want. It will automatically boot into clockwork mod and take care of the back up for you. let it finish, patience is critical whenever flashing anything or backing anything up. And your done. You will now have a complete backup you can use when the going gets tough. Are you running a stock vibrant?

Dont worry, you wont screw anything up, all four of those choices wipe everything and flash a kernel. My suggestion is to flash bionix1.9.1 with JAC's OC/UV kernal. its pretty sweet. Stay away from voodoo right now. No offense, but your not ready yet. VOODOO really can F*%k your stuff up if you dont disable it before flashing other stuff. Trust me, once you start flashing you will never be happy! LOL Thats how i started.
The best thing you can do is read read read. Then when you think your ready, READ some more. If you ever need help feel free to pm me. Im always on. Sorry I didnt even look at your sig. And HAPPY FLASHING BRO!

No need to disable lagfix it will get wiped and reformatted. However I did see a way to do it, but i dont use them so i dont know how its done. The whole point of backing up is so you can get back to where you were in case something goes wrong or yu dont like what you see. As far as one click lag fix (OCLF) and voodoo go, its like night and day. VOODOO is INSANELY fast. ALL THE TIME. but they are truely different approaches at the same goal. But for now i reccomend you stay away from voodoo.

Is there a Voodoo supported CWMOD flashable Stock KA5?

I tried Nero 5 and I love it, no disrespect to Team Whiskey, but I get ZERO data on that ROM. Stock KA5 (even stock JL5) works fine. On Nero, I can manually enter my APN, select it, and nothing. I flashed and redownloaded both TouchWiz and the Standard V5.
On the stock ROM, I do not have this problem. I'd still like to have Voodoo speed and a working recovery, which is what I did NOT have with the stock ROMs.
Is there a working CWMOD flashable ROM that is basically a stock KA5 that supports Voodoo so I would NOT need to disable/remove Voodoo first?

No disrespect, despite what was shown, but, yes, I did read the thread you cited, and I am fully capable of reading in multiple languages, but I asked for a ROM, not a kernel.
It's just that I'd prefer not to have to go through the process of removing Voodoo, flashing to stock, rooting, flashing via CWMOD, etc.
So, again, is there such a ROM? That's why I'm asking. I've only been at this about 1 week, but I'm not ignorant. I'm asking for help.
This is not the place for this. Plz move to the Q&A forum. This has nothing to dowith development. Maybe you will find answers in the correct forum.

Once you flash the kernel, you will get your ROM.
Looking at your sig, you already have KA5 flashed. which would mean you do NOT have a voodoo kernel (which is why your asking?), thus requiring no need to disable voodoo. just flash the KA5 voodoo kernel and your all set. but moving forward you will have to disable/enable voodoo when flashing new ROMs. a small price to pay for the daily benefits of a superior file system.
disabling/enabling voodoo is uber easy. dl a terminal emulator or use adb.
From terminal emulator
Code:
$su
#reboot recovery
From computer using adb
Code:
\adb reboot recovery
Once your in the RED recovery screen goto voodoo lagfix -> disable/enable lagfix -> reboot
done.
Sorry, I hadn't updated my sig. I do have Voodoo and I am currently running Nero 5. Just trying to sort out my data problem.
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it very much. It helps.
What I did was just download the stock deo ka5, and the ka5 voodoo kernel, and replaced the zimage in the stock zip with the zimage in the kernel download. Flash away and no need to turn off voodoo.

You would need to flash a kernel that has VooDoo sound in it...like:
Categorically Worthless (which is what i'm using)
Dead Horse
OverStock 1.4
Destroyer of Worlds (DoW14)
Dragon
I'm not really sure if they work on stock ROMs...they might but idk.....i see very few people on stock these days...but those are the kernels that will get you VooDoo sound, color and lagfix.
I recommend OverStock 1.4. But Categorically Worthless is just as good. Dragon is quite a stable OC kernel, in my opinion, but you know what OC means, you could end up with problems. Lastly, stay away from Dead Horse and DoW for now if you're not advanced.
Im gonna use this kernal http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967861..... Which is the OverStock 1.4. How do I load it on my phone. I'm rooted with superoneclick. Can I use baywolf's vibrant toolbox? Once I get the kernal loaded and my phone rebooted can I use supercurio's voodoo market app?

Ok...honestly i have no experience w/ stock 2.2 as i've been running custom ROMs since i got my Vibrant.....but i'll tell you the steps anyway as if you're on 2.1......anyone feel free to correct me...but here goes:
1. Download and install ROM Manager for the market
2. Open ROM Manager and select the top option Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
3. Select Vibrant when asked and let it do its thing...when its done hit "Reboot into recovery"
4. When you do you should get sent to the stock recovery screen....hit "reinstall packages" and it should reboot
5. When it comes back up it should send you to ClockworkMod Recovery, if it doesnt then hit re install packages again and it should send you straight there.
Now that you have ClockworkMod Recovery you can flash the kernel...should be self-explanatory if you read the directions on the kernel's thread....i still suggest you do a bit more research before you do this...especially since you're on stock 2.2...also make a Nandroid (Full System Backup) before you try anything and have Odin ready....stuff happens...hope it helps and good luck

I backup my kernel using SGS Kernel Flasher and then flash a new kernel from clockwork recovery. Red Recovery means voodoo is already installed, CWM recovery is green by default. I'm not real sure what all it takes to run voodoo on a stock rom

Pretty much only but the kernel on your internal sd,
download the app to backup your kernel
reboot into recovery (assuming you already have clockwork recovery installed)
install zip from sd card
choose zip to install
scroll down til you find it
choose it then scroll down to yes
it'll do some magic and then you'll be at recovery again, reboot and wait for linda to do her magic, takes about 5 minutes.
Doesnt rooting install clockworkrecovery, if not do I install it from the market place. What if I have other items on my sd card like music, pictures etc. I have 6GB left on my sd card. Once installed what is BLN and do I have to get an app for that. And can I use the voodoo market app after install kernal?
Yes you download Rom manager from the market, run it, let it check, if all good install the very top choice flash clockwork recovery.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.

Once you have ClockwordMod Recovery, which is green by default I believe, flash a Voodoo-injected kernel using the methods other people described, and you will have a red ClockwordMod Recovery. Red is to indicate that the phone has Voodoo lagfix enabled.

Question regaurding voodoo

I am currently running SC 2.9.2 with jt's voodoo kernel. I understand how to disable and re-enable voodoo. My question is if the rom I want to flash is voodoo only should I re-enable voodoo before flashing? Also will it matter if it is enabled or disabled when flashing a new radio or kernel?
I want to use the community rom with the latest voodoo kernel to enable bln, UV, and OC
Thanks in advance for the help!

If you are currently running voodoo then you can just flash the community rom as you are going from voodoo to voodoo. its only an issue when going from voodoo to non voodoo in which you would have to disable voodoo then before flashing a non voodoo rom.

I followed these directions from adrynalyne. It wasnt bad at all.
So many of us are rooted...so many...
Getting to ED01 isn't easy without any radio leak. So, to get to ED01, so you can get yer bran' spankin' new modem!, follow these directions.
First, we will downgrade to DL09.
Do this by flashing this DL09 package in Odin (pda button, pda button, pda button)
http://adrynalyne.us/files/stuff/
Then, download this EA28 update.zip, put it on your sd card, reboot to recovery and flash:
http://www.multiupload.com/F00OYXVO0K
Finally, download this ED01 update.zip put it on your sdcard, and reboot to recovery and flash:
http://www.multiupload.com/LPI21AP8TD
Then, flash whatever the latest and great cwr 2.5.x is (I've not kept track.) Do not use cwr 3.x for now, imo. You can then flash one of the stock rooted roms, or root yourself via flashing a super user package from cwr.
Good luck!
Note: Keep in mind that once you Odin CWR to ED01, you MUST also flash a kernel, or rom containing a kernel to replace the stock one, or it will revert you.
Boot first to CWR after Odin, and install Community Rom v1.0 as it contains a kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044474
Yeah thats what I was reading going to give EC01 a shot with the community mod first and see how that works out first seems a lot of people are thinking they are similar
yeah not much different at all. I just went to ed01 as i was wiping anyhow and his directions we straight forward but try ec01 then community v1.0 then you can flash v1.2
Thats what I'm going to do hopefully an odin ED01 package comes out I have a feeling EC01 will hold me over until then
Thanks for the help much more confident using voodoo

Just update your recovery to the latest CWM and flash a new rom using CWM.
But I would make sure to read up before taking any steps further to make sure you know what steps to take.

When I tried to download the "update.zip" file I get a 404 error.
Thanks

What he said... But if you want other roms, don't bother with unrooting.
Just update your recovery to the latest CWM and flash a new rom using CWM.
But I would make sure to read up before taking any steps further to make sure you know what steps to take.

I would go this route, load up ComRom 2.1 and get rid of the ED04 radio it has some issues. It's not as hard as it sounds to do this. Just read up and enjoy a better running phone.

I went to the page you suggested and when I tried to download the "update.zip" I get a 404 error.
What is next?
Thanks

If this is the route you want to take (I highly recommend it as well), I would check out this thread or even this thread (although it is on Android Central, so you will need to make an account to see all the links if you don't already have one). They are pretty similar (the latter is a bit overboard on detail, but that can be a good thing if you are new to the process) and should at least get you started on learning what it is you need to learn to ultimately wind up at ComRom 2.1. I hope this helps!
Hello. I finally found out what a ROM was and how to use ODIN. I had my Uncle to ROOT my Fascinate when he was down this weekend. Last night, my phone got bricked or stuck in blue recovery and I had to flash it. Or restore it using ODIN. Anyhow, can you tell me the steps to get it rooted again with Odin & Evil Fascination? ClackWorkRecovery caused thus because I couldn't get it to work to install Com rom.

For a better understanding, I want to do the following:
Steps to Rooting my SCH-I500 with Evil Fascinate
Getting clockworkmod working correctly
& Installing Com rom.

Evil Fascination and Community Rom are two different roms and both will root your phone when flashed... this is how mine's set up for ComRom and it works flawlessly:
1) download odin, samsung mobile phone drivers, debloated/debinged/deodexed EB01 all in one package, CWR3-Voodoo, and ComRom 2.0 package of your choice and the 2.1 patch... place ComRom and its patch onto your sd card
2) use odin to install EB01
3) boot up phone once to let it format itself
4) power off phone and use odin to then install CWR3-Voodoo
5) boot straight into CWR, wipe data/cache/dalvik 3 times each and assuming you don't want to backup/restore data (I usually just use Titanium Backup app from the market) proceed to install .zip of ComRom 2.0
6) select reboot phone and let it boot up, it may take a while the first time
7) congrats, you're rooted and running ComRom 2.0
8) to install the patch simply hold the power button down until the menu pops up, select recovery
9) this will boot you into CWR again, no data/cache wipe necessary simply install .zip ComRom 2.1 patch then reboot phone again
10) congrats now you're rooted, voodoo'd, and running the latest ComRom
hope this helps, that's about as simple and short as I can make it

Ok. Thanks for letting me know that. I had no idea there was a difference. I'm new to this stuff so. Yah. Anyways, I used that guys post to root my phone (the first reply with the link) and it worked for me. Can you give the the download links to all of the stuff up there that you mentioned? Or is there another thread that you go that from with a better understanding? With the links and all? I'm not sure what Voodoo is. I just want the Com Ron up and going. ;-) thanks =D

this should give you a current recovery (CWM), I use the first one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046905
most everything else can be found in landsharks thread here: odin, the samsung drivers, debloated/deodexed EB01 and ED01, and how to install all of that (props to landshark68 for putting it all together)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048380
ComRom can be found here along with instructions on how to flash, changelogs to see whats been updated, known bugs... I would suggest reading the first few posts by nitsuj17 just to get familiar with it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108991
superchunkwii put up a pretty nice detailed thread on how to get to ComRom if you're at stock (or need to go to stock, then go to ComRom):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053567
last but not least voodoo, these are the closest threads I could find that describe it (second one is a little better):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043673&highlight=voodoo
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039897&highlight=voodoo
i know it might seem like information overload and a lot of reading, thats why i tried to simplify it in my instructions in my previous posts... if you download what you need from those threads then follow the steps I listed you shouldn't have any problems. If you do, don't worry we're here to help
Ok. From my understanding, CWR3-Voodoo is like the one click lag fix right? I'm actually using that on my phone now. When I'm on my computer later, ill go through all that and learn more about it and download everything and try it. =]

yes it has an option for enabling/disabling lagfix but its optional.. even if you decide to flash a rom with no voodoo kernel you can still use that CWM with no worries

Thanks. Since I'm allready rooted, can I skip to steps 20-24 and do that?

yeah if you're rooted and running the baseband you want (ED01 or whatever) the boot into CWR and flash the rom you want... you're going to need to do a data/cache/dalvik wipe before flashing the initial ComRom 2.0 package so make any backups you want.. once its done installing reboot phone to make sure everything works right, then boot back into recovery and flash the patch (no wiping or anything needed) any questions or problems be sure to post them

Thanks! I back up my stuff though Titanium back up. One thing though, how do I tell if I have CWR installed? Thanks for your help!
