Ever since I installed the latest version of Google Maps my location does not get updated automatically. It would go for hours without updating my location. My location services are working fine. Both my GPS and wireless network option boxes are ticked.
Is anyone else having this problem? And does anyone have a fix for this?
sometimes happens maybe it's cause where you are located
I have an app called fast fix which kinda helped me a lot.
this is it

I'm having same problem. Thanks.. I'll try that.

After debranding/flashing to the generic R2BA026 X10a, from the Rogers Canada stock R2BA020, I've lost my Google Navigation, and get the message "Google Maps Navigation is not yet available in your location". Anybody else have this problem? Is there a fix (other than using the Brut mod)? Or do I have to rollback to the official rogers firmware? TIA.
No problem here. My Rogers unit was also debranded and am using the LAM 026 generic firmware on mine and works fine.
Even after I one-click rooted the phone, everything still is working like a charm.
I have the same problem but it's intermittent. I can usually fix it by toggling the various "location" settings.

No issue here but now that I posted this reply I feel like it is imminent.

I had that issue also. I uninstalled Google maps, and reinstalled it. Working again.
Same happens on my milestone. I think it is Google. No need to do anything. Just try few mins later.

Thanks for the advice guys. I ended up reflashing/debranding and re-rooting back and forth to the RBA026 generic again. I got the same error, but then I rebooted and everything seems to be going okay. Good to know I wasn't the only one having issues. I'll keep the other fixes in mind so I don't have to go through the whole reflash/re-root procedure again. Cheers.
i had the same problem
when i chose a location, there will be no option for navigation only directions.
i would try to use the "navigation" app but as you know, it gives the "navigation not available in this area" even though i am in canada and it was working before.
the fix i had for it was to use the custom google maps created by brut which will allow you to always see the navigation option.
then when you are trying to navigate, use the original google maps navigation and it will work. Im not sure why that is but it seems to work 100%. Brut's navigation is a bit buggy so im not using it at the moment.
also, turning gps on and off from the locations menu in settings might help.
Hello,
Tried both of them, got problems with both, and they both seem nice
Problem with copilot:
entry problem for destination. When I have to be in city "Deinze" it will enter "Ddedeideindeinzdeinze". Something is wrong with the input, tried disabling dictionary and word suggestions but nothing seems to help, also reinstall didn't help.
Problem with Navigon mobile navigator: Force close when launch without data connection. Turned internet usage off in settings, no traffic jam info, nothing...
Tried to denie permissions for the license check but nothing helps.
Currently running 2.3.3 Wolf V6 stock
Btw; I don't get the picture with Cyanogenmod; i can't find an official release on their forum but I can see FXP is using it in their FXP041, can someone explain the situation to me?
what navigon version are you on?
Latest on both...

Hey Guys,
Loving my galaxy s3 however something strange is now happening. I used to live in Brisbane and recently moved to Sydney, whilst I was in Brisbane I often used the GPS and google maps navigation (google navigation whatever you want to call it ) and it performed amazing! it locked onto location instantly and would guide me and track my position superbly.
Now I've been in Sydney for 3 days, and I tried to use the navigation several times and it was terrible! It would take a minute or two to lock onto my position but would still be fairly innacurate and would not engage the navigation, just sat in that screen where it is zoomed out and roughly shows the route to take, sometimes it would engage into the navigation but then would stop tracking me and just say it lost GPS location.
Has anyone experienced this problem? or know what I can do to fix it!! Thanks
Couple of suggestions:
Have you changed your Google location? Whenever I've changed ROM's I get asked to let Google use my location - maybe there is something in the Google set up that still thinks you are in Brisbane and has to keep scanning for your new location?
Have you got the map for Sydney - I know you can get maps on your phone but maybe only your home location is auto-downloaded, so you get a zoomed out version for other places? Maybe go into the Maps app and select Sydney and see if it brings down a more detailed version?
Maybe check for Maps/Navigation updates? I got a Maps one a few days back.
I hope this helps - not sure at all if any of them are applicable but it is what I'd be checking...
For the google location, I sort of reset it, I turned it off (the option to let google use your location) and turned it back on. Not sure what else you can do in that department.
Ive got the map for sydney and my maps and navigation are up to date! Thanks for the suggestions but, its just really frustrating as it used to work so well
Use either GPS test or GPS status to see how well your GPS is working. Both are available free in market. They will also download agps data to help with a faster fix.
Check that you do have satellites switched on in settings.
If you are rooted you could try the wildfire agps patch. I think it is posted in the development thread.

thanks for the suggestion! just downloaded GPS status and one of the reviewers had the same issue that was resolved by clearing and downloading agps data (just like you mentioned). So will try tonight and hopefully problems will be gone, thanks!

That method always worked for me on the S2 when I was in a different location. Takes seconds to reload the new data.

I can't really help but my s3 in sydney has almost instant lock, except when in a tunnel.
By a strange quirk of fate I have just experienced the same issue that you faced.
After a lot of frustration I found a simple fix.
Turn off GPS and other location settings in main settings, power of and reboot. Switch everything back on in settings and all should be well again.
Hope this, belatedly, helps.

If you are on a custom ROM then the first line of the GPS.conf file in system/etc will be set to "north-america.pool.ntp.org". Change the "north-america" part to "au" and restart. Then reset/redownload gaps data.using GPS status. Hope this helps.
Is anyone else experiencing issues with the GPS not working? The phone is able to determine my current location but is unable to actually navigate anywhere. Google maps never shows an arrow to indicate the GPS is locked. I've also used several Gps app to help correct it. I've done multiple resets and app updates I've even sent the phone back to Nokia twice just for them to tell me nothing is wrong. My phone is running the latest update as of March 11. Please help!

Review your 'Location' settings.
Go to Settings - - > Security & Location
Look for Location (it should say On) press to open Location menu screen, review all options shown.
Near bottom of list look for Scanning and select. This will bring up options to use wifi and Bluetooth to scan for positioning. Turn them both on.
They help even when not using. System uses to triangulate (better identify location).
Also check 'Google Location Accuracy'. I know from experience if that selection is off GPS will work, but navigation Apps are fairly useless.
Some suggestions. Hope it helps.

Tried all of that to no avail. They were already on so switched them off then on, checked maps, restarted phone and checked again.

Hello, I have this problem too, there is no solution

你好,我也遇到同样的问题,没办法解决。
turn off: Google Location Accuracy, GPS will working.
when open google maps, it will ask to turn on Google Location Accuracy .... select NO!!!
On my device, this worked. Download the app "GPS Test" from F-Driod (might be in Play Store? I never looked...) https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.android.gpstest.osmdroid/
In the app, click the "Clear assist data" wait a few minutes. I've waited between 1 - 20 minutes in the past. The GPS redoes all it's data and starts working again for me.
I had the same problem. Contacted Nokia, it's a known problem caused by an update.
About a month ago I received a new update and since then everything GPS related is working fine again.
I had the same problem and sent my phone to repair. They confirmed the issue and corrected it. Since then the GPS works well.

Everything worked well up to today. Since today same problem again. No GPS signal... Nothing seems to get it back working again... Big disappointment!
Hello Mi Fans, I got my Xiaomi Mi10 3 weeks ago everything working very good I use gps a lot and never had any problem with my previous Mi Mix3 , with the mi 10 am getting my location but it doesn’t move when I go somewhere or use direction by google maps or use waze , it doesn’t show speed it’s just stock there , I unlocked the phone and flashed miui eu stable rom, still the same problem even though I wiped the data , anyone has the same problem please or is it an hardware issue.
I was experiencing the same problem, I use waze a lot. I happened to go into Apps. Located the GPS you use and set it to Always. For some reason mine was set to only when app is being used. Changed that and it's working fine. Let me know if that works for you.
You are right just changed it thanks a lot

I had the same issue, power settings didn't fix it for me but what did was changing some settings using QuickShortcutMaker from the play store.
Pretty sure I just changed the A-GPS server to Google. It was using a xiaomi one by default.
How did you do that? I tried to use that app, but couldnt change anything.
