Just installed Swype on the NOOK. Man this keyboard rocks.
You need a rooted device to install the Swype apk into the /system/app directory.
Run the app from there then select the Swype keyboard from the keyboard selection option in settings.
Works like a charm.
Nookcolor, after Auto-Nooter 3.0.0 (1.1 only)
Would you be willing to post the apk or email it to me?
I don't think you can post links to download the Swype apk. PMs are okay though.
Oh and... can you add me to the PM list?
EDIT: Whoops, spoke too soon. Thanks!
Follow the link above. It's direct from Swype as they are in open beta. " LEGAL"
When I try to install it, it tells me it's not supported on my device.

You've got to use the version from the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Doing this requires changes to the build.prop to match the Tab's settings. After rebooting and installing the Swype.apk and libSwypeCore.so it works great!
Can you post prop changes?

I'm signed up for the Beta, but it's a no-go for the install. Should I be making changes to the build.prop? I've only seen people's ENTIRE build.prop posted, but would rather just change what's needed (when I used another build.prop, it stopped booting).
What are you running for your ROM? 2.1, 2.2, 2.3? I'm currently running Nightly 8 of CM7. Would LOVE to get Swype running, but I'm getting the "Screen size not supported" error.
I confirm that this works on the customized 0.6.8 Froyo. I just installed the apk like i would normally with no modifications or anything like that. Thank you OP.

You can get rid of them, but you have to replace the messaging app with a modified one. You can find a black SMS app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932304
I'll fix the theme for the new update soon.

you dont even have to flash the zip....just make a copy of your current framework to your pc, find what the zip is going to replace, and do it yourself. it works great. then use rootexplorer to put it back to where it needs to go, then restart

I've been struggling with getting Metamorph to work. Got it installed, v.1.9.8.14. It asks to start checks first, then I get "Some files could not be extracted and setup. Please make sure you have enough free space in /system"
I checked my /system partition and I have 34MB free. I figure 20 should be enough. Been searching for someone else with this problem and I can't find it. Anyone have pointers or a link to a thread that I must've missed?

The Android market got updated to version 3.1.6. You can download the apk here.
For those who use AOSP Roms like CyanogenMod 7, try flashing the new google apps, if this didn't work out well for you.
Noticeable Changes:
* New UI For Tablets
* Faster / Fixed Download bug
The normal installation didn't work out well on this release. So had to do it manually.
Follow these procedures :
1. Download the apk file to your sd card.
2. Now using Root explorer, go to /system/app
3. Now mount r/w & Rename Vending.apk to Vending.apk1
4. Copy the downloaded file to /system/app
5. Rename it to Vending.apk
6. Now press & hold the app and select Permissions
7. Select only the options given below. Now reboot & enjoy.....

"Also, many folks seeing this are looking for solutions and coming across a version 3.1.6 of the Android Market to download install … only it doesn’t look like it is a real release. According to a Twitter post, there are significant differences in the ‘signing’ of the file, making it suspicious and not a good choice to download."

This app is another one I pulled from the Lenovo Thinkpad. It's called FlexT9 Keyboard. It acts a normal keyboard along with something similar to swype. There's another option that allows you to write in the space provided and it translates your writing to text. This can be used anywhere that you can use th keyboard. Personally, I have a hard time getting it to recognize the words I write but maybe you guys will have better luck
A quick pointer: go to the help section in the settings to really learn how to use it.

Yes the google dialer works great. You must be rooted, and manually install the googledialer.apk into System/priv app, set permissions, reboot. Then you must create a shortcut to the app via a launcher (like nova) as the icon will not appear in your app drawer. I'm running it now, works great.

No, and do not do that either, it will fail on the lg software. This is the only current method while running the stock rom and will probably be the only method.
