Thanks for the reply! Okay...so I call AT&T and they give me the data info. What do I do with it? Is it something where they tell you how to change it?

NO, you cannot access the AT&T high speed network with a T-Mobile HD2. The frequencies are different, and it is a matter of hardware, not software or firmware. It is built into the device.
If you install a radio from AT&T or a Non-US HD2 it will brick the phone.
The other responder is saying that if you unlock your phone you can use it with AT&T, which is true - but only at EDGE network speeds.

I am not sure if they are called tbe same thing in Windows Mobile as Andriod but what member MartyLK is referring to is called APN settings in Andriod. These are the settings that tell the phone how to access the carriers network.

Member stevedebi is totally correct here you will only get GPRS and Edge. Hec is also correct if you flash a radio be it just a radio flash or a rom that flashes another radio along with the rom. If it is not compatible with the T-Mobile US HD2 then you will brick youre HD2. Once bricked you may or may not be able to save your HD2 with JTAG. Just making sure you are informed. Also you might want to go read member samsamuel's response to this question, click here and read post number two.
Edite: Go to this thread "Unlocked HTC HD2 AT&T MediaNET/MMS Settings". This is a thread on how to get your HD2 up and running on the AT&T network. It is not a thread on how to unlock hour HD2 to use with other carriers.

There is an Australian cellular company called "Telus" that has the same radio frequencies as AT&T and can run full 3g signals. They sold the HD2 but unfortunately they are very hard to find these days now that the phone is no longer a hot seller.

Sprint to US Cellular

Can someone please help me I have a Touch Pro for sprint, but I recently changed to US cellular. Is there anyway I can use my phone on the US Cellular Network?
Probably not.. they only allow US Cellular branded phones on their network.

im a noob when it comes to flashing to another carrier. i have flashed over to the us cellular rom, but still get sprint when i dial out.
Load the latest PRL

I'm not sure if US cellular uses DMU key authentication, you might need to change that too. (i doubt it, but search google or something)
Also search google for threads on converting a sprint TP to verizon and you might find steps on how this is done although its a diff carrier.
does anybody have the DMU setting for US cellular or know if they use it?

no a key used.
for the settings check out http://sites.google.com/site/victorbush/htc-6800-1/epst-data-settings
The problem you will run into is that until they add your ESN into their system, no matter what you do the phone won't work on USCC.
Customer support won't activate a phone with an unknown ESN, they will require that you go to a store, and unless you can find a store with a tech who doesn't mind breaking the rules, you will never get it activated.
All roms for the most part are mostly universal, so putting on USCC's rom won't help, because the phone doesn't physically say USCC on it, when their actual phones do, will basically make it impossible to get accomplished.

I am receiving a US Cellular Touch Pro on Monday. People at the main US Cellular told me to buy one on Ebay lol. Well I did & will have the settings. Cant you just call in & give them the new ESN?

they do have a (white)list of their 'GOOD' ESN numbers, since HTC customizes the phone for them and will provide them a list of the ESN numbers sold...
YMMV to get a tech to activate an unknown ESN number... the system may not even allow it if it doesn't match the whitelist
im actually really interested in this... for my old Titan however, my sisters phone broke, and shes broke as well (har har), my old Titan still works fine, I want to give it to her and activate it on USCC but am running into the tech problem...
I second the interest, I have a Verizon Touch Pro that I am going to try and activate on US Cellular, the settings would be fantastic.

would this work the other way around (us cellular to sprint)?
You may have luck with USCC if you get a nice tech.. but you can NOT activate a non-sprint phone on sprint.. period... they are very particular about that.... & if you want a chance of activating your phone on USCC, have it all programmed for them before you even take it in.... that way they will see no major work needs to be done, and presto!

[Q] Remove Telstra Settings from the HD2 (Australia)

iv been wanting to buy teh htc hd2 for a while, and now that it has been released here in australia it is only exclusive to telstra!! im going to stay with my current provider vodafone!
ONE problem....... the phone is installed with teh telstra stuff, which i don't want!!! as i would like to use the phone with its original settings, (without telstras software installed!!) therefore i would like the phone to its custom and manufactured settings!!
is this possible?? can anyone please help??
Quite easy to do - have just finished the same myself. The Telstra-branded version is not operator locked, so all you need to do is install HSPL, followed by any of the HD2 ROMs (official or otherwise) here. I've loaded a couple of different ROMs so far, and am still trying to settle on which one to use permanently. It should also work with SSPL, but I found the HSPL route to be quick and easy.
The alternate ROMs do not affect the phone's ability to function on Next-G (mine is with Testra for the time being), and I've tested it brefly on a Vodafone SIM as well, with no problems.
I'm certainly no expert on this, but I'd be happy to help if you need any advice or assistance.......
So using the Official WWE would remove the Telstra stuff? I would just like a standard HTC ROM.
Yup - loading another ROM gets rid of ALL Telstra customisations. No loss of functionality that I've noticed, and I'm sure that you can still access mobile Foxtel etc if you wanted, just by entering the appropriate address in the browser (not that I've tried)......
thankyou for you reply cheesekeeper!!!
im sorry to be a pain but i am new to this i understand how to install HSPL, but i would liek to know which rom is safe to use and where can u get a good one from? the OFFICIAl htc website does not have any roms as it only has an upgrade for the camera at this stage!
So which one should i use? could you please guide me to one, i would be happy with any that would simply get rid of the telstra stuff!! so nothing too complex!
PeterMav suggested using the official WWE as he wanted a standard htc Rom... (its sounds like what i want) now how do u do that and where is that from.
i have done quite a bit of reading for most of the day today and it hasnt been as succesful as i hoped, but i feel im getting closer in finding an anwer now!! so i thankyou for you help!!
i also have another question....when i purchase the phone, i understand that wen my vodafone sim goes in, the internet will not work! but im guessing wen i ring vodafone they will send me settings to the phone....NOW do i get the settings sent after i do a rom update or before?
i thankyou for any help possible
This Link has the official WWE from another thread here.
Only got my HD2 today and been reading since this morning trying to get as much info as I can before I flash it.
petermav,
to flash that rom do u still need to install HSPL on the phone or just leave as is and use activesync?? as on the official htc website it doesnt say to do so.
By the way would it be still ok to upgrade using that rom being its not specifically for Australia or is it?
I assume you still need HSPL i'm trying to find that out.
And it should be fine for us in Australia from what I have read.
Warranty issue
HSPL will void your warranty. Make sure you read the threads before FLASHING your ROM.
And as for changing to another ROM you can still use your phone with all its functions.
I'm OPTUS user and I have dZenkinZ ROM installed on my HD2 works perfect, and is stable with minimal BATT drainage.
Can you please tell us what RADIO version TELSTRA uses.
Radio version is 2.05.51.11 for Telstra
So can you flash without using HSPL everything i've read so far says you need it.

i havnt got teh phoen yet, so i couldnt tell you, i wana know if i can change teh telstra before i actually buy it, thats y i am asking these questions!
SAIED16, do u have to install HSPL?? the clip i watched in you tube named "htc HD2 (leo) unlock. How to flash cooked rom" showed that it did not have hspl installed at the 4.30 min mark. it had spl.
besides that even if i want to instal an official htc rom from their website will that work and not void the warranty when i purchase the phone??
Well I just FLASHED the official WWE ROM.
I used HSPL and then run the ROM all the Telstra crap is gone and so far it's working great.
Took a whole 3 minutes to do.
YOu may want to check once you update to a Vanilla ROM that the BAND Selection still includes the NextG Frequency, ie WCDMA 850Mhz, thats if you still want to use the NextG Network. If it is missing you need to add some entries into the Registry to be able to select the WCDMA 850 Band
To check what BAND options you have, goto Phone -> Menu -> Options -> Band Settings.

Hi pies, Im just curious does the Vodafone HSDPA network cover the 850/2100 MHz frequency that the Telstra HD2 is soley supporting?

I would hold off because if you want to use Vodafone HSDPA then the Telstra version wont have any or as much covereage as the European one, 850 MHz is only used by Telstra as far as I know, whereas 3, Crazy John, Vodafone and Orange all use the 900/2100 MHz frequency.

hi flashmore,
so you think i should wait for the phone to be open to all networks? (i spoke to htc and they said after then it shall be available to the open networks) i know telstra only has the rights until the end of march! so i guess ill wait till then!

Nothing would change at the end of March Telstra will likely re-contract, however, just do some research and check to make sure my info and other info is correct. I bought HD2 from UK which comes standard with a 2 year warranty, AUS you will most likely only have one year warranty, mind you I have the hassle of sending HD2 OS if there are any issues. That is no big deal to me really.
The phone cannot be open to all networks on HSDPA (sort of) since Telstra are the only comapany in Aus using the 850MHz frequency, Telstra model also supports 2100MHz HSDPA so you should get some coverage but not everywhere.
AUS, Telstra HSDPA (NextG) 850/2100 MHz
US, AT&T HSPDA 850/2100 MHz
Rest of the world (including Australia) HSDPA 900/2100 MHz
So the summary If you plan to use Telstra only then buy a Telstra branded model. If you decide to switch providers you will lose some coverage with a Telstra (NextG) model.
Regards

Sorry I need to correct myself FLASHING to a none official ROM will void your warranty.
I used a HTC TOUCH HD, which I bought from TELSTRA. and was Telstra branded. I had to take for warranty claim, since I FLASHED to a non Telstra ROM HTC claimed they will not fix it because I tampered with the phone.
HSPL is like jail breaking iPhone. and you can flash from your SD, and with SSPL you need your PC. Also with HSPL you can revert to Official ROM if something goes wrong during FLASHING which means you could get away with warranty issues. Read post 7.

Telstra flashing
Hello I am hoping to flash an official ROM to get rid of the telstra stuff, but still use the phone on the Telstra network- specificaly the 850 3G network
So could I get confirmation from somebody that the 850 UMTS frequency is still available to use after flashing, and if so which ROM did you use. (note that the phone working after flashing doesn't necesarily mean the 850 frequency is working- you may just be using Telstra's inferior 2100 frequency.
Thanks
non Telstra HTC HD2 no next G
Hi, im older, and not real high tech savvy but my new HTC HD2 from ebay did not work with Telstra MMS,they sent me settings for other model because theres none on auto config site. OK got MMS but appears only E for edge I assume is 2.5G? I have tried all settings on net and fiddled now got no MMS and Telstra sent me to HTC for rom upgrade..there is none..SO.
How can I get NextG or 3.5G whatever on this phone, getting dropouts as in country area. I would be happy for Telstra branded if the thing worked on Next G. I know settings up the creek as when send mms test message I get reply Pocket NEWS :code is invalid.ha ha ha boy im gonna be iNVALID soon.
Any help would be great .need sort of step by step config thanks
@rockerseven
If you bought your phone off ebay it probably does not have the 850 frequency- check the back- if there's no telstra logo you don't have the 850 frequency. No 850 frequency means no access to Telstras (better) Next G 3g service. This is a hardware problem, you can NOT fix it with a ROM unfortunately. Can't help with the MMS settings sorry- I find it cheaper and easier to send emails via my phone.
Onto my question-
anyone in Oz flashed their Telstra edition HD2 with a (non Telstra) stock or custom ROM and had it still work on the Next G 850 UMTS frequency, and if so what radio did you use?

Activating new GSII on T-mobile

Hi guys, I am about to receive a "new" refurb AT&T GSII to use on my T-mobile account. I have not yet received it, so forgive me if this is a stupid question, I just want to be ready for when I get it.
Will I be able to root the phone straight out of the box? I know I need to run the unlocker from the market, but need to root first. Is the phone "locked" like iPhones are out of the box? Thanks!
And also, can I ask what the number 1 recommended ROM is for this phone? I read CM7 has some issues, but are there any CM7 based ROMs that everyone loves?
No, I believe the phone works just fine without a simcard. You should be able to start up odin, flash CWM, and flash a rooted rom all without an active sim card. You can also setup the phone by connecting it to a WiFi network. Once unlocked it will work with your T-Mobile sim.
I don't think the att sgs2 has the radio to work on t-mobile's 3g bands. You'll be limited to edge speeds. If you are ok with that, you should be all set.

Yea, I have no data plan so I'm all good with the incompatible radio. Plus the screen/phone size on the I777 is perfect for me, while the Tmobile one is slightly too big.
I guess I will just follow the guides to root it. Now to pick the best kernel and ROM...

SIM Unlock for US networks

I don't really know a lot about SIM related stuff, so I apologize...
Can the Rezound be SIM unlocked for US networks? The only thread I've found on another site says no but I think the repliers were referring to bootloader unlocking, not SIM. I am S-Off if that matters..just don't want to spend money on those sites that use IMEI to unlock, then get nowhere.

Just to be sure about the specifics.
HTC rezound on the leaked 4.03.605.2 ruu
You put in a T-Mobile sim card in the rezound
And you had voice calling, texting, mms, and data working?
You didn't need to modify anything in the phone, change settings, add a T-Mobile apn, root, or Rom the phone?
It will be nice if you will write a short "how to" for moving a rezound onto USA T-Mobile.
Also were there any frequency mode restrictions?
Data speed was good?
Thanks,
Howard
Thanks guys...will keep messing with it.
Verizon would not give me an unlock code because according to them the phone isn't capable yet.
Rezound is globally capable and works on other US carriers

The FCC ruling that Verizon is responding to by making the Rezound, Razr, Droid 4, etc. globally capable also opens the phones up for use by other carriers. This was "Big Red's" initial impetus for not unlocking the phones native features. So yes, you can use this phone on Tmobile's network.

Have you tried to enter T-Mobile's APN?
It won't save and show in the list.
It appears Verizon locked it to only use Verizon's APN?
when booted into the bootloader there is a simlock item on the menu.
if one has s-off and an appropriate config.dat file on the removable microSD card it is supposed to SIMM unlock, so one doesn't get that sim locked picture on the phone after inserting another vendor's SIMM card.
this information is from reading, not from doing it.
I'm running T-Mobile US (EDGE) just fine. 100%
Did nothing but put the simcard in the phone and flashed a GSM ROM (Downtown).
I did flash the latest radio and firmware with S-OFF but everything was working before hand.
I activated the Prepaid Simcard on T-Mobiles website and used the Rezounds IMEI without problems just added the right APN for MMS and DATA.

Thanks Tachi,
I plan to order a T-Mobile SIM card to play with on monday. it will have 10 minutes of talk time, but no data. I still have quite some time left on my Verizon contract before I switch to T-Mobile. This might also be a good option for my daughter.
First, I will see how this works on my stock rooted 4.03.605.2 system with htcdev unlock and s-off. If I get the SIM locked warning, I will try installing a hboot loadable SIM unlock config.dat file I got from a website - it has my IMEI inside it.
I don't know why, but I can not enter the T-Mobile apn in my system, even if I switch the phone into gsm mode.
Then I will try the downtown ROM, if it is ok to load it ontop of 4.03.605.2

Carrier unlocking S9+'s gsm vs cdma.

This situation was dealing with the SM-G965U U.S. S9+
I recently had itekimei unlock two S9+'s. They were from xfinity mobile, which is CDMA.
The phone's work, but only on CDMA band carriers i.e. verizon, sprint. With GSM, only messaging and data work. Data barely.
Is it commonplace to be stuck with either GSM or CDMA frequency carriers after having professionally unlocked the network? Like if you had a locked T-mobile phone and had it unlocked, you'd be stuck on GSM correct?
Maybe this is a given and I am ignorant.
I didn't exactly check whether xfinity ran on cdma or gsm before I purchased them, so that was my fault, not itekimei. He's a great guy. Highly recommend him, as long as you have your radio systems correct.
Edit: I think I found the answer, and that is the U.S. S9+ is not cross compatible with GSM and CDMA. Please correct me if I am wrong and tell me how to make it happen if you know. Thank you.
-Bob
The phone does work with GSM providers for calling, messaging and data. Check your preferred network type and select a different one. I replied to another thread you posted in with the setting I used that works.
Before unlocking my phone I had done an extensive amount of reading and research. If I was gonna pay for the unlock I wanted to make sure it would work for GSM networks. From what I can tell the G96U phone you have would be virtually identical to the one I have, with the exception of the carrier installed firmware. This is what would define the phone as Sprint or Xfinity. So if my phone works for calling, data and messaging on AT&T which is a GSM network then yours will too.
If needs be flash the U1 firmware to the phone as this would be the one that is on the unlocked S9 you can buy from Samsung. As a firmware for unlocked phones i believe it would be the most generically compatible with the providers for this scenario... well it's one of the reasons why I flashed it on my phone. The other is since I no longer use Sprint I dont need the Sprint bloatware.
There are tutorials on how to flash the G965U1 firmware to a g965U phone on this forum.
Also try keeping your inquiry to one thread instead of making multiple ones. Keeps all insights, discussions and etc in one spot and not multiple places.
