[Q] CM7 and Wi-Fi Calling? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, I've been running CM7 on the Vibrant for a couple of days, but I have noticed that there is no support for Wi-Fi calling. I LOVE the ROM, but Wi-Fi calling, due to where I live, is a must for me... I've tried asking in the CM7 thread multiple times if anyone has gotten it to work, but my question always gets ignored :/
So my question is this. Is it possible to get Wi-Fi calling working on CM7 for the Vibrant? If so, how?
I've seen threads about Wi-Fi calling working on CM7 for the Nexus One, so what is keeping it from our phones?
Thanks for helping me understand this better

Bump? Can anybody help?

I rarely use wifi calling but do you what the internet calling options under settings indicate? Is that the same as wifi calling?

i did a quick search and it looks like the devs are still working on a wifi calling for it on the nexus s.

Here's the answer from the Cyanogen Vibrant Wiki:
Is TMobile's WiFi Calling supported on CyanogenMod 7?
No. Due to the maintainers that have a Samsung Vibrant not having a TMobile account, they are unable to test or develop this. This will likely have to come from a third-party maintainer or someone willing to help bring it to the stock kernel, which can actually be tested on TMobile.
Looks like the answer/fix will have to come from outside of the Cyanogen community. It appears that most ROM devs are having the same problem with Gingerbread. Though I love my CM7 Nightly build #56, I'll probably change ROMs if some other developer gets this issue fixed, provided GPS still works, too!

I have it understood that the problem with wifi calling on cm7 is that it depends on alot of samsung's roots in our phone which would have to be added or faked in order to get it to work... 'twould be quite a job... this is my understanding, could be waay off

Any new info??
Does anyone else know if there is an apk for the wifi calling yet?

[Q] WIFI Calling and TEXT Problems

I flashed to:
2.2.1 T959UVKB1
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Darky's V. 9.3 XWJS5 Extreme _Edition
using a Samsung T959 Vibrant Model Phone
Everything is running well, Awesome ROM, the only two issues I'm having is there seems to be no WIFI calling and I cant receive any text now!
I searched the threads for info on this and this was all I found was A response from a thread responder:quote "Sweet honey is the smoothest out of Bionix and Darkys. At least in my opinion only item not working on it is WIFI calling" unquote
Also need an answer or suggestion on the texting issue as well!
The reason I need the WIFI calling so bad is I live so far out in the country, That I cant get a strong enough signal from T-Mobile's nearest tower to receive or call out, and when I was running the stock Froyo 2.2.1 I was able to call using the WIFI calling with my Broadband connection at my house! And I need the texting for business correspondence as well!
If there anyway to correct this and still use Darkys ROM? And IF NOT! Then what other similar ROMS to Darky's have the WIFI calling, and with no text issues!
Dont want to go back to stock If its avoidable, otherwise if there are no ROMS or fix's then I obviously have no other choice but to go back to Stock Flavor again! Which would be very sad and disappointing!
It is my understanding that none of the 2.2.1 roms are capable of running WIFI calling as of yet. There are a lot of 2.2 roms out by EDT and TW that you can run WIFI calling on. I'm currently on Trigger 2.7.2 and used the bloater app to install WIFI calling and it works like a champ. I was also having some issues with texting as well on one or two of the 2.2.1 roms as well, but not all and couldn't track down the problem. Hope this helps!
So with the Trigger 2.7.2 are you up and running with the text and good telephony using a WIFI AP ??? With 0 defects???
And How is the GPS aquisition capabilities with trigger and what modem does it use?? I Need good GPS routing when I travel for work, just as important as the other agenda's!
If this ROM can provide all Ive asked, then it seems a winner to me, I havent seen any pic's of it though and was wondering if it looks good, also how is the speed with the kernnel it runs on??
I know alot of questions, but still trying to find the right flavor I can stay satisfied with, and stop tweaking for awhile! LOL!!
Anyways thank you for your time and effort. Appreciate YA!

Yep, the WIFI app from the bloater app works great, no problems with calls or texts. GPS also works great, outside get a lock usually 9/11 birds and with using the navigation app, or maps its usually spot on. GPS on the vibrant is never perfect. Trigger is KB1 base with KB1 voodoo kernel and KB1 modem. After flashing Overstock, using quadrant, which isn't an accurate benchmark but can be used for comparisons, it scored mid 1700 to low 1800. Stock kernel scored mid 1400 to low 1500. Keep in mind, all hardware is different and you may not get the same results, and whenever flashing anything, be sure you know how to odin back to stock and read the OP fully! Good luck and hopefully this helps you out!
Cheers!
Also, I do flash the s.gps fix that is posted in the development section.

[Q] Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959V) 911 and Fixes/Roms

My girlfriend recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959V). I enjoy all the features I get from rooting, etc on my G2. I saw the Gingerbread update from T-Mobile and have installed it for her. I wanted her to be able to have root, remove bloatware and have the lagfix (voodoo, assuming it is still needed) working. As I was getting ready to find her a good ROM this CM 911 dustup happened. It's ok if she keeps the Samsung ROM, my question is where is this 911 "feature" stored? In other words, what can be done to her phone without destroying emergancy calling? I am pretty sure just rooting it is fine. Removing bloatware after rooting should be good also. I believe the lagfix replaces the kernel. If the kernel gets replaced will that break 911 calls? Is anyone working on a stock GB ROM (as officially released Nov 15) that would have root, removed bloat, and anything else safe that keeps 911 working? I would be glad to wipe the phone, root, remove bloat, (lagfix?) myself and post. I just do not know what is safe to play with. Is this just a radio issue, library issue or kernel issue? Any information would be appriciated. I would like to make her android experiance a good one that still allows her to call 911. I have searched the forums and the web but can't seem to nail down a good answer of what can be changed and what must be left alone to allow 911 to work.
911 operators are drunks anyways... here's some proof, provided from a random Google search.
This is the vibrant forum,sgh-t959 not t959v... very different..
From my understanding, cm7 is the only one with the 911 problem (and any rom coming from cm7)
. Stick to samsung roms and your good. Also the 911 thing isnt the end of the world.. you call them, they cant hear you.. hang up and theyll call you back

Ah, since the download for the updater said "Vibrant" (offical from Samsung) and the model number is so close I assumed they were mostly the same. I see now there is a S 4G forum. Sorry for the mix up. I would assume this phone could have the same issues if CM was ported. Currently it is listed as not supported. I'll move to the right forum and dig some more. Sorry for the waste of space. If anyone knows if these are affected by the 911 issue feel free to chime in. Or if a moderator wants to move this to the othe forum feel free.
Thanks
Lol the waste of space is no big deal and your right, id forgotten that they call yours the vibrant 4g. But still the two phones are very different hardwarewise, idk why.

T-mobile Wifi Calling On Optimus T With A Gingerbread ROM

Has anyone gotten the tmobile wifi calling app to work with the optimus t on gingerbread based roms? I have found packages for roms based on android version 2.2 but none for gingerbread.
Thanks
Other question: did you flash your Optimus T to Android 2.3 ?
I am still on 2.2.2 and would like to test 2.3 - I heard you can get a 2 to 2.5 speed improvement with custom roms.
Yes I have 2.3 on it. I put an unofficial version of cyanogenmod on it. As for the speed, it is considerably faster than 2.2. My quadrant slandered score was around 900. The only thing I am missing now is wifi calling.
@cekuhnen I'm running 2.3.7 (Arc_OS) on my Optimus T. Besides being a lot faster, the battery lasts a lot better on it. I can usually get 16-24 hours on my phone. Even if you want to keep running on Froyo, they have some good ROMs for that as well. My wife is running #void froyo-final on hers and it works a lot better and faster than stock.
@harelb I havent seen any wifi calling for 2.3 but if I do, I'll send you a message.
Thanks, I managed to install the wifi calling app but it won't connect to the t-mobile network. It comes up with the error: "You are currently not registered with eh T-mobile network. Would you like to register to enable wifi calling?" Pressing register does nothing.
AmeriKan47 can you help me with getting Android 2.3 onto my Optimus?
I was reading this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394007
But honestly I have no real clue about all the steps I need to take and software to download. Better battery and faster performance would be great
I would be very happy in case you could tell me what I need to do.
Sorry for being such a nOOb at xda

I remember I found WIFI calling online and installed it on my Optimus V10l and I got the same error message. Wifi calling was missing on this version when I bought the phone.
With V10S (I bricked my phone with the LG update and found this image to recover it) I noticed that now WIFi calling works.
Thus I assume this might be an incompatibility on your side.
I switched to use SKYPE and other VOIP callers when on WIFI.
Too bad Google Talk does not allow calls via the smartphone as you can do from a desktop PC.
I managed to make a wifi calling that "runs" on gingerbread by modifying this package. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116268
I changed the wifi calling app to the one found on the lg g2x. The app runs fine but when I try to enable wifi calling I get W005.4 Tmobile Network Error. I managed to get rid of the register on the tmoible network. Any ideas?
The file is attached below.
I've found that GrooVe IP works perfectly as it uses Google Voice to connect calls. I use my Optimus on Wifi only. GrooVe IP is a $4.99 paid app but well worth it imo. Of course there are ways to get GrooVe Ip apk without paying but you never know what you are getting when you go that route.

T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling... JellyBean

I was just wondering if there is a tmo wifi calling app for any of the JB roms that are currently available for our Vibrant...
I've been through a lot of threads and haven't seen any mention of it. Haven't yet flashed JB yet (should be tomorrow though!).
Thanks.

There are several VOIP apps on the market, namely Google Voice, which allows free calling irrc. I am not aware of any VOIP apps by TMo though.
Google voice is only for the States. Use talkatone, ChatON, Kakaotalk, or just search on Google play store. Sorry can't give links, I'm on my phone so just search it. Not too hard to find. Good luck!
No, no, no. T-Mobile users can use the T-Mobile WiFi Calling App. Its been made to work on Froyo, GB, and ICS.
In areas where you have little to no cell signal, you can connect to WiFi, and this little app allows you to send and receive calls and texts just as if you had perfect cell signal.
My original question, was inquiring as to whether or not anyone had tinkered with it and made it compatible with any of the current JB builds.
JB is still new, so it comes as no surprise that it hasn't been done yet.
No big deal. Reason I originally posted that, was because if one ROM had it working over another, then I would have tried that ROM first as I said no biggie.

AFAIK, T-Mobile wifi calling was made to work on froyo and GB, but never on ICS, several devs tried it, but weren't able to make it work. I doubt there'll ever be T-Mobile wifi calling for the Vibrant on JB.
Have you tried bobsled app?

Look for a jelly bean version and stumbled across this posting. For the t-mobile G2 there is an ICS version which works.
We just bought a Galaxy S2 from t-mobile, it came preinstalled with the new ICS update on it already (brand new device). The device has Wifi calling built in. It's not a separate app though, its built into the device settings, enabled and disabled from there. Looking for it on my Vibrant though :s

You can get it for lots of Froyo, GB, and even some ICS roms (I think), but no JB yet.

I'm using Bobsled app on my Defy with Android 4.1.2 without problem, but I'm pretty sure it can be configured with another "standard" SIP client like CSIP or 3CX (just don't know how to do it...)
I'd tried to see what's the SIP credentials on my own account using wireshark in the middle, but only have on clear that the SIP gateway is: wvp.vivox.com:5062
If anyone could help us on the right direction, should be nice...
